[Lollipop] Higher battery drain in airplane mode? - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
Just updated to the 5.0 via the OTA (zip) on my N5. I had the phone in airplane mode over night (about 6.5 hours) and I noticed about 10% battery drain. On 4.4 I was seeing about 4% drain after a night in airplane mode. Just curious about others' experiences in this regard. Thanks.

The battery drain issue has been already reported. WiFi remains "Always ON" in airplane mode & mobile data only mode. More tests are underway.

Battery Drain?

Loving my G-tab with VegaN-beta3. Question for all the more experienced users/devs -- have any of you noticed a significant battery drain while in sleep mode?
From a fully charged g-tab, I put it into airplane mode so no radios are on, and then power the unit into suspend mode. After ONE hour I check the battery by turning the unit on and the meter says 95% now.
My question is this "normal" behavior. This seems kind of high drain for a g-tab in sleep mode. I suppose I can try resetting the battery statistics by booting into CWM recovery.
I don't know this is related at all, but I just installed VegaN B3 last night and with my charger plugged in it didn't charge beyond 95%.

You might want to reset your battery meter:

That seems high to me too. I would say about 1% per hour actual battery usage during sleep mode (with wifi off) seems to be the norm on my G Tablet. Not even sure why it's that high for me, honestly, and when I have some time I've been meaning to experiment with disabling background services before putting it to sleep and seeing if that changes the sleeping battery usage significantly.
Definitely, I'd start out with clearing battery stats and seeing if that helps.

[Q] Anyone else notice insane drain in battery after 5.0.2?

I just updated my phone from rooted 4.4.4 to non rooted android L.
But since the update my battery is draining like crazy. With stamina mode on, only mobile data on and everything else is off.
Screen brightness is on auto and low and I can barely hit 4 SOT. 39 minutes SOT 84% battery. Before I could get an hour SOT for every 10% if I was just surfing the web.
Is anyone else having this issue?
10% per hour? On wifi I guess. Try a clean install, did that myself and am really happy ?
What is fresh install exactly? Should I just download stock firmware from the thread and then flash it?
Pretty much.. Use Flashtool.
I did OTA and have no drain. Guess I got lucky.

Mate P7 Bad battery drain in standby

Hi XDA,
I'm having some problem with my Huawei Mate P7,
Recently when the phone is in standby, it can drain the whole battery from 100% in a night of standby(while sleeping).
I've reset to factory hoping that would fix this, same problem. I updated to latest Lolipop thinking that would help, same problem...
When the phone is in Smart Power mode and I'm using it while on, the battery hardly drains. It's only in standby it seems to happen. Even not installing any apps except FB it dies.
It seems to be in the stats, 80% power usage is wifi/3g modules.
Any idea what could be going on here? Am I forgetting a setting? Is the battery a problem?
Thanks
Are WiFi settings are those?

Yip settings the same as the screenshot Except mine is "Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep - Only when plugged in"
So I charged it to 100% yesterday and left it switched off, plugged it back in and it had lost 40%, sitting at 60% remaining...with it switched off from 100% battery.
Starting to think the battery is dying Attached pics of usage..brand new software, reset, no apps installed, running on Smart Optimization
same battery drain. Updated to 6.0 and the problem is gone.
4.4 was fine. But all 5.1 had the same battery drain issue

Go to Google settings and turn off location reporting.
Sent from my HUAWEI MT7-L09 using Tapatalk
Thanks for all the assistance all, I think the battery is just going bad, it takes forever to charge, leave it charging all night sometimes and its still not full tried multiple chargers too
Can't get more than 6 hours out of it it seems tried all suggestions including upgrading to 6.0(made a difference with speed much quicker now though)
Anyone got any other suggestions??
How good is your mobile signal?
If it's trying to use 4G and searching for better signal it could chew the battery. It's much easier on battery running on 3G.

Standby drain

When you sleep, does your phone sleep, or does it stay up all night and crunch 1s and 0s? Rate this thread to express how you deem the speed at which the Google Pixel XL's battery drains under standby conditions. A higher rating indicates that when the phone is not in use, the battery drains minimally.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
Hi everyone.
Is it normal standby drain for 5 hours 14% AlwaysOnDisplay Off, 20% AOD on?
Android Pie. Pixel XL.

That's not normal. Normal should be around 2% lost.
Since I'm on Pie (beta and stable), the drain, with or without, Wifi On and Mobile On, it's been very high!!!

well, I have to correct my statement. If I turn off wifi and mobile data, standby drain is stellar!!! During the night, I can get no more than 3%
Can't say the high drain that I have if using the phone... something that got a lot worse after a year (when I got the phone)
When my pixel xl is in standby for 3 hours, my battery drains arround 15 -17%, and my phone always shows Charging Connected Device via USB notification like it is charging another device, even when isnt connected to charger.
I'm getting between 1.5% and 2% per hour drain while idle at night doing nothing, since Pie. OS doesn't report any errant apps. Greenify isn't griping.
It almost uses no battery in standby! It's like magic. In one night it may lose 1% if you leave it on.
although i get about 2 and a half hour screen on time, i get virtually no standby drain whatsoever (latest stock pie). went to bed last night at 39%, *10 hour sleep*, woke up at 38%. what i dont seem to get very often is notfications while i am sleeping until i use my phone again in the morning, something to do with adaptive battery or doze?
are you guys leaving the phone connected to a Wifi?
do you guys disable LTE/Data connection while on wifi on Dev Options?

i always have WiFi and LTE enabled. Unless i want to use LTE instead of WiFi, then WiFi gets disabled.
I have a massive drain and phone gets hot lately even on stanby, i don't know what happened, didn't add any new app, still on pie.

Question Standby Drain Exynos

How is everyones standby Drain?
Mines appaling. Even over night it drains about %6 with nothing running and airplane mode on! I've already reset it since the April update and cleared cache etc. SOT is good enough but obviously I will manage less of that with the poor standby drain.
That's about the same for me. 7 or 8% but no airplane mode
I have bixby routine that enables power save mode and disables wifi and mobile data from 22h00 until 06h30 the next day...I loose perhaps 2-3% for that period. Without power save I loose for the same period of time 6-9%
~3% overnight drain. No flight mode.
I lose around 4-5% in 8hrs. That is with WIFI on and Flight mode OFF.
mine has gone down hill over the past few days - not sure - but went from 5% overnight to 15% - didnt change anything - just installed the app updates that were available so am thinking something with an app - but nothing showing up in the battery life check
2-3% overnight drain with everything on, get the galaxy max hz app and enable doze and powersaver mode when screen is off, before mine was 6-8% a night now its 2-3%
1% per hour on average when left idle overnight with wifi on

Is this only in the payed version, because my issue at the moment with this app is, when my phone goes into battery saving mode, when it comes back out (with bixby routine) the phone is stuck in 60 hz. Basically, i have to manually set up the adaptive refresh rate everytime.
Is this problem gone with the payed version? Or am i doing something wrong.
Cheers
