Hi XDA,
I'm having some problem with my Huawei Mate P7,
Recently when the phone is in standby, it can drain the whole battery from 100% in a night of standby(while sleeping).
I've reset to factory hoping that would fix this, same problem. I updated to latest Lolipop thinking that would help, same problem...
When the phone is in Smart Power mode and I'm using it while on, the battery hardly drains. It's only in standby it seems to happen. Even not installing any apps except FB it dies.
It seems to be in the stats, 80% power usage is wifi/3g modules.
Any idea what could be going on here? Am I forgetting a setting? Is the battery a problem?
Thanks
Are WiFi settings are those?

Yip settings the same as the screenshot Except mine is "Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep - Only when plugged in"
So I charged it to 100% yesterday and left it switched off, plugged it back in and it had lost 40%, sitting at 60% remaining...with it switched off from 100% battery.
Starting to think the battery is dying Attached pics of usage..brand new software, reset, no apps installed, running on Smart Optimization
same battery drain. Updated to 6.0 and the problem is gone.
4.4 was fine. But all 5.1 had the same battery drain issue

Thanks for all the assistance all, I think the battery is just going bad, it takes forever to charge, leave it charging all night sometimes and its still not full tried multiple chargers too
Can't get more than 6 hours out of it it seems tried all suggestions including upgrading to 6.0(made a difference with speed much quicker now though)
Anyone got any other suggestions??
How good is your mobile signal?
If it's trying to use 4G and searching for better signal it could chew the battery. It's much easier on battery running on 3G.

Recently I've updated my Note through OTA to 4.1.2.
I've spot that after update the Note is just draining the battery.
I could read about 10 hours on it before, and now it is only about 6 !!!!!
I even do not mention gaming, which is draining the battery in 2.5-3h from 100% to about 5%. I could play approx. 5-6 hours before.
It's ridicules.
Did any of you spot the same thing?
I haven't installed any additional apps after update that may "help" to discharge the battery.
The values above are based on Screen usage time in Battery menu.
Any suggestions?
After the update, I'm facing recharging issues. The tab is taking twice the time of what it used too to recharge to 100%.
i haven't spot any issues with charging.

Same here.Used to get 10 hours of screen on time, now i am lucky if i get 8 hours!

Some tips :
Kill all apps, switch to offline/airplane, and power saving mode when charging..
Still not working?
Try reboot your device once or twice if necessary..
And your device will charge normally
Work on my gnote...
I hope it will work for you too
Correct me if i'm wrong
Im using juice defender with good results, I lost a pretty noticeable amount of battery time after 4.1.2, too.
Maybe a problem with the battery stats?
Try to drain the battery empty and full charge afterwards.

It will damage the lithium battery when you drain it till empty
I think it is Wi-Fi that drains the battery !!!!
Usually I was leaving the tablet with wi-fi on all the time. After 4.1.2 update it takes approx 2% of battery per hour !!!!!!!!!! when you do not use the tablet but wi-fi is on, so after night in the drawer you had approx 10-15% drained.
When I turned the wi-fi off and left it overnight i haven't loose even a 1% during the night !!!!!
I have to try to work on it as usual but with wi-fi turned off, it will be difficult though as usually i play on-line or browsing the net
I think they f#^%*d something in 4.1.2 update with wi-fi energy consumption. hope they will repair it in next update.

I mean, just let the device turn off by itself, and after that, charge 100%.

Yeah, I had this problem after I updated too. It was also laggy. I did a factory erase and now it works better. I think it is still draining more than before, but not as bad as after I updated. I think a good rule of thumb is to wipe everything after an update and start all over. You could also try wiping and flashing the rom for a fresh install.
I suggest you to change your rom to germany stock 4.1.2...
It will solve your charging problem
Tested on my gnote

I took a screenshot of the drain. It was at 91% when I set it off and put it down for the night. When I woke up from my sleep around 7 hours later, it was at 86%. With mobile data I've been getting much more drain than that, like around 12%. I thought turning off mobile data would solve it, but something still seems to be draining it. What else could be the problem?
I have the same situation on MM, 1% drop per hour minimum. tried turn off data, set only HDSPA, currently installed wakelock detector and greenify i will keep monitoring.
I dont have any batt drops in LP, almost always 1-2% per night.
I tried flash stock .163 and now .185 for UE1 and for germany (im from poland) so roms are for my region. Clean install, dirty install, LB and UB, now rooted, the same situation.
For me battery life on MM sucks :crying:

MM battery was okay for me for a bit it seemed, but then the battery drain seemed to jump up a bit. On LP I was bit hard by the "mobile radio active" bug, and it's still getting me on LP, even back on my Z3c, ugh, it's really frustrating. Mobile radio still shows up for me a lot in MM too, I don't know, that part seems like a google/google play services problem, but this other battery draining that's happening, I'm not too sure, and looking at battery system stats, or using another app such as gsam battery monitor, I haven't been able to deduce anything, but if you see anything, please update us.

Here is mine ss, if You can help
I unplug charger at 00:19 with 99% battery, in morning aroun 5AM i have 93%
I don't have any screenshots but I've noticed that in the last couple of weeks (running stock MM), my battery is draining much quicker than expected. I use Tasker to control wifi / sync / other stuff but don't have it running like the old Ultra Stamina but my battery will now drain in 12 hours of normal use (not playing games, watching movies). Looking at GSam battery monitor, the phone radio is draining quite a bit and at no point has the phone entered deep sleep.
Annoying as I used to easily get 36 hours between charges.
since i upgraded to Android 6.0 I lose 1% per minute when the screen is on and I go from 100% to 0% in approx. 8 hours, compared to 1 day+ before.
Same for me :c since the update got less than 3 hour SOT , doze does not help me as i have my phone on my hands or pocket most of the time, it never activates
and i saw the 1% bat drain per minute or so while im on chrome ( i just use crhome, nor videos nor games, no facebook apps installed)

Even with doze, it doesn't work that well, cuz my battery still drained turning off network. Although, last night, I turned on airplane mode, and it drained less, only 3%, but I still feel like there's something going on in the background that makes it drain so dang much.
I almost haven't used my phone since full charge and see: Screen usage is very high, as soon as I turn on, it drops by 1% per minute. I haven't changed anything since MM update and before that I could (heavy) use my phone for 1day+.
I bought this phone cause I couldn't use my LG G2 for a full day anymore, and now I can't even use this new one for half day....

I fixed my battery extremely fast draining by uninstalling Facebook Messenger, now I'm back to 1 day and half estimated use. What happened with this app ? It wasn't battery consuming with Lollipop.
Hi everyone, long time no post as haven't done any messing around with this phone! Hopefully you can help.
I've got a galaxy s6 that's totally stock. No root, no kernels or roms and up to date from OTA updates. (Android 6.01, Baseband version G920FXXU3DPAD, Kernel Version 3.10.61-8216184, dated jun 2nd 2016.)
Overnight my phone went from 80% charged to being dead by the time I woke up! It's been a similar story for the last 3 days ( I usually charge it up overnight so I'm not sure exactly how long it's been like this, but after it happened the first time I checked to see whether it would happen again). It never used to be like this - the last time I didn't charge overnight was about 3 weeks ago, and then it dropped maybe 10-20%.
No idea what to do to try and fix this, have had no issues with the phone up to this point. Attached some screenshots of "battery usage" - numbers look OK to me given the short screen on time (it was charged shortly before bed to see how much charge we lost overnight. I didn't think it would be all of it!)
Thanks
Install gsam battery monitor and check after one day or when your phone will be on the edge of discharging and paste here screenshot

Installed the app and used the phone a bit, also left idle for a bit. Draining >10% an hour - things aren't good! Need to be almost permanently attached to a charger so any ideas on how to fix would be great please
your phine never goes to deep sleep. install wake lock detector, turn off everything (gsm can leave on) ans lets see.
did you disabled google backup?
I had some serious battery drain, but it turned out to be Android Wear's Cloud Sync option.
Thanks for the suggestion but I don't have any android wear devices. I uninstalled a load of apps but still having issues.
Some screenshots of wakelock detector - any ideas?
Bump - any help please?
anyone?

you notification drawer almost full, so difficult to say. What I recommend, stop all, charge a phone to 100%, turn of wifi, 3g (only leave gsm) and leave a phone overnight. If in morning you get max 2% loss, when everything fine, just you enabled a lot of notifications and synchronization and other stuff which do let to sleep you phone.
P.S. wifi drain is to big. It always show sow much %?

It's the same all the time, this is so much more drain than what I had a month or so ago and I don't have any new accounts and am not getting any more notifications than before. And wifi percentage often high but not always.
So, I have noticed an increased drain on my phone's battery since the OTA 8.1 update. But these last few days it feels like it has been getting worse, even with battery saver mode on, no background activities and rooted Greenify. Today it drained 3% of battery in less than 25 minutes, battery saver on, no Wi-Fi n but not connected and mobile data off.
Somehow my old iPhone 5 has better battery life than this one. Also, the AccuBattery app I installed says the phone has already lost 10% of the battery's original capacity.
Am I the only one who has noticed this after the update? Have you guys felt that this has been happening as well, or am I just paranoid?
And do you happen to know any good apps for checking battery health besides AccuBattery?

Ok... Just stop for a second...
I learned a thing the past few years about Android...
Looking for battery... Actively... Usually sets you up for higher drain...
Do this...
Put everything back to stock... Then take out the stuff you'll never use... Like... WiFi/Bluetooth scanning (if you don't live in the city)... Turn Bluetooth off (if applicable)...
Then... Make sure you've trained everything... Like Ok Google... Then turn it off if you don't use it...
If you're not on Sprint... Disable anything Sprint related in apps... To make sure they don't receive the ON_BOOT intent...
Then... Don't reboot unnecessarily... You'll get better battery the longer the device is booted... To a point

Noticed that lately as well, resetting network setting fixed it for me YMMV
Just reset everything, also flashed back to 7.1.1
Just deciding now if I should sideload the 8.0 or OTA update to 8.1 already to see how it will respond. Will discard everything but the apps I commonly use
make sure you do not disable WiFi IF you have WiFi calling enabled... causes wakelocks during idle/sleep which drains battery.
Hi, I'm experiencing a standby battery drain on my Xperia 5 III. I've just bought it, it's updated to A12, did a hard reset and software repair with Xperia companion. I lose around 1.5% per hour, around 12% per 8hours of sleep. Whether I have SIM popped in or not, GSam reports Mobile radio constantly working and it stops only if I turn airplane mode on.
I have Stamina mode on, 60Hz only, turned off mobile data always on in developer settings (although it shouldn't matter when SIM is out), smart connectivity is off, everything else I found that could be battery consuming I turned off.
Is there anything else I can do, besides flashing it again with Xperia companion? Or is this normal for this phone?
I suspect you're going to struggle to get a reply from someone that's performed this same test. My phone was charged to 90% 4.5h ago. I've used it for web browsing for about an hour since it was removed from the charger. I've never used Stamina mode. I have 120Hz display on. I use the Always On display with the clock and a graphic. Screen brightness is at 50%.
Battery is at 74%. I have done zero investigating about what has been draining the battery, as it strikes me as normal usage based on my experience with Xperia and Huawei phones.
I think you are right, the user base seems to be much smaller than I thought.
Luckily, my battery drain has improved, last night it drained only 0.90% per 7h of sleep, putting a SIM card in and turning Stamina off helped, it makes no sense but it fixed it. If I'm not wrong, as per GSam, my phone also went only into a deep sleep and never into light sleep, now it enters both.
I find that after a reset or an OS version update, the Xperia phones take a week or so to sort themselves out. I don't know if it's optimizing in the background or what. I have noticed this since my Z5, which I bought 5 years ago.
t an update today on my 5 III and after updating I have significantly better battery life and lower overall temps.

ive been using my xperia without a sim and the battery life is also terrible. i havent switched from my old phone yet.
is the battery life better on the android 12 update?
I can't comment on 11 vs 12 usages as I didn't use my phone on 11,only 12, but others already reported improved battery life on 12.
My battery life significantly improved after 2 weeks. I did recalibrate my battery, two times drained it to 0% and charged until 100%. I did apply all the battery-saving tips and tricks available and suspended whatever system apps I could. Depending on the usage, I could reach 7-9h hours SOT easily, probably even 10 with stamina turned on. Updates really helped this phone in every possible way. IDLE battery drain was the worse thing with it and now it varies from 0.20 to 0.70% per hour. Remember to close all the apps when you don't need them,.
In the developer options you can restrict the background processes. Had 4, now 3 selected.
My apps notify me reliably, I do not notice any difference, but the consumption in standby is only a third as high.
Everything else did not work for me.
