i have the original moto g (xt1033) which is the dual sim variant.
but i have the xt1032 gpe image installed on it.
someone told me when the OTA comes out for lollipop and when i update my phone. the update might brick it. is there any chance of that happening?
Well your phone thinks that it's the xt1032, I wouldn't take the chance of flashing the XT1032 bootloader and bricking it. I'm in the same position as you right now, what I'm going to do is wait for the lollipop update to become a flashable .zip so i don't need to run OTA and flash the new bootloader which would make downgrading and unbricking impossible until it releases on XT1033... whereas a zip flashed in recovery would be pain-free and safe if you're already converted to xt1032, you know that atleast, I'm hoping, cause all single sim roms ontop of converted GPE xt1033 run the sim fine, but the OTA including bootloader is the bad part.
tl;dr: DONT install the OTA update, wait for a flashable zip and flash it over your converted setup or you risk bricking from new bootloader

Actually, being rooted can make the installation seem fine, when really it isn't.

Got an update for the Motorola Update-services app in the Play Store today.
It says in the release notes it is in preparation of the Lollipop update.
Hopefully it will also become available for the dual sim Moto G.
When I do the update check it still says my software is up-to-date..

thank you, would u prefer rooted over Custom firmware ?
I prefer custom firmwares.... They just have more functionality integrated and I prefer that....Though rooted with xposed and a bunch of cool modules is pretty good too

yes it will lose warranty but there's always the possibility of the service center not knowing you've rooted and unlocked bootloader if you flash back stock rom.

Rooted Moto G Successfully
Hi,
This is excellent.
I was facing problem with me Moto G KK 4.4.4 that loosing signal in both SIM card some times and delay in getting Signal. After reading this nice guide I have rooted Moto G, to see whether the problem solved or not. Currently its working fine.
I have installed greenify- Battery backup increased automatically
Will try Gravity Box
Now my question is- Will my device upgrade to Lolipop when Motorola will release it for Indian dual version phone?
Suggest few more application which will keep phone healthy...
I need the following with full version
1. Poweramp player (patch not working)
2. call recorder (record should be from both side)
If you look at the software update news page of Motorola, and scroll down to where you purchased the device, the dual-sim Indian version of Moto G isn't listed.
We're probably not going to get an early update for our XT1033 devices.

don't worry. when you have a look at the other providers like t-mobile or verizon etc, the xt1032 (single sim) doesn't appear either. it is probably the case, that motorola just haven't added the devices in the provider list, but i am sure that everybody can still enjoy android lollipop when it gets released
its confirmed already dude you must go to country option in site and select india you can find the info . check out this link https://motorola-mobility-en-in.custhelp.com/app/software-upgrade-news/g_id/2014#gs=eyJndWlkZUlEIjoyMDE0LCJxdWVzdGlvbklEIjoxLCJyZXNwb25zZUlEIjoxOSwiZ3VpZGVTZXNzaW9uIjoiSHprV3R0NW0iLCJzZXNzaW9uSUQiOiJIemtXdHQ1bSJ9

when you select Retail from the dropdown menu,
you will get this message
"This device will be upgraded to the Android 5 Lollipop release of Android, pending partner support."
Soak tests for xt1033 have already started and we will get the update by the end of november or December first week.

Why you flashed Brazilian version. It could brick your phone. Motorola is gonna release official android L here in less than a week, i guess.
Anyway, download indian version of stock 4.4.4 and flash it with stock recovery. Relock the bootloader. Latest motorola adb and fastboot drivers should be there before starting this whole process.
Motorola has updated its OTA updater app a couple of days ago. So go to play store and update it to make your phone ready for android lollipop

And in this way you could end up messing your phone.
Once youre on lollipop there's no way as of now to downgrade to KK.
But once the india lollipop update is out someone will figure out a way to install that.Until then enjoy your phone o Brazilian 5.0.
And also I dont find some good reason to install Indian update ovr brazilian one coz there will be no major change.
I guess both are "Asia retail" firmwares?
Please press THANKS if interesting. Sent from Moto G-od via xt1033 free Android app.

nice just got a notification on my phone that an update is available.
I wonder if a rooted and custom kernel (experience) would interfere with a smooth upgrade?
- would I lose root?
- custom kernel problematic?
thanks merlin
