[Q] After HTC Camera update I lost Crop Me In!! - Verizon HTC One (M8)

I edited default.xml to get the Crop Me In mode since Verizon left it out of our 4.4.4 update. Yesterday there was an update through the Play Store for the HTC Camera app, and after updating I no longer have the Crop Me In mode! The default.xml file still has the edit I made which enabled it. Anyone know of a way to get the Crop Me In mode back? Thanks!!

Can you uninstall the update either through the play store or the app manager so it rolls back to the prior version? I'm running viper 3.1 and did the blinkfeed update two days ago and it messed up some settings even though I still had them checked. I uninstalled the update and all was fine.

That worked! Thanks!

[Q] Anyone else have these problems with S Note after 75 MB update?

So after the OTA 75 MB update (GT-N8013 4.0.4) I noticed these annoying new features with S Note and was wondering if anyone else had them and new how to fix them.
1. whenever I open a note the brightness goes up to over 9000 (auto brightness is not on)
2. I can't hide the menu with the pen, eraser, and all those other options when I'm taking notes anymore (the faint up arrow in the upper right corner is GONE)
I'm praying for a way to downgrade but I can't find a way anywhere.
This all may just be my problem cause some weird stuff happened after I unrooted (it like unrooted and updated at the same time).
This is the new version of S-Notes... If ou want to change it you will need to re-install an older version....
You will need to be rooted to push the apk into system apps...

Do you now where I can find the older version of the app?
Welcome to the club, we have meetings basically every day in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2081866
No, you aren't the only one having problems with or just disliking the new SNote.. I hope there will be a solution that won't require root someday soon.

[Q] Updated to 4.4.2 And want to go back to 4.4 camera.apk

Ok so I got the 4.4.2 OTA last night and the video camera sucks big time,I've downloaded the stock 4.4 camera apk but when I run it, it just says app not installed, so I tried to copy it directly to the system/app folder but the folder seems to be set to read only so I can't delete the new camera or replace it with the older one,Tried using es file explorer
Anyone managed to do reinstall the older stock 4.4 Camera ?
Dude u need Root to Change a System App.
But if u have a Problem with 4.2.2 try to get Out of the Box 4.4 with Sideload 4.4.2 update
And plus, the Camera. apk wasn't the only modified file

It is more than the apk. You have to roll back to 4.4.0 as the changes are more than just the camera apk.
The new camera is dark in lower light but honestly I think the quality looks much better over all with it. Google just capped the camera to preserve quality by forcing it to be darker in low light. Take it outside in the day light or a well lit room it should be true to life then.
Either way you will need to unlock your bootloader and root so you can roll back to 4.4 if you want the 4.4 camera performance.

I agree the camera is better in the sense that it is faster but it now doesn't run in full screen anymore,Also I'm talking about the video recording is almost pitch black,There was nothing wrong with video recording before the update so why they messed with that I have no idea,
Thanks for the help, looks like I'm going back to 4.4

The preview isn't fullscreen? Thank goodness they fixed that. With 4.4 you get a 16:9 viewscreen for a 4:3 picture...
Also if you use a camera app that let's you control you're own exposure time you won't have to worry about the limitations of Google's automatic settings.

[Q] Weird wallpaper issue

Hi,
Device : Nexus 5 international version (LG-D821) 16 Gb.
System : Stock 4.4.2/KOT49H, unrooted, locked (updated from original 4.4 via OTA)
My problem is the following: I can't set the wallpaper using the regular way (tapping screen/wallpaper/select picture/picking any picture from any folder) and get a error message at the bottom (even before actually setting it) which says 'Can't load picture'.
I get this message on any picture (camera pictures, my own wallpaper folder, downloaded pictures, whatever) anywhere.
So, right now I'm forced to use the gallery app and the "use as wallpaper" function (and 100% of all the pictures I have work fine).
I'm not sure it's a 4.4.2 related issue, I can't remember if I changed the wallpaper using the very same way right after the OTA. What I do remember is it worked perfectly on 4.4.
So I wonder if it's a known 4.4.2 issue/bug.
It doesn't seem related to the files or folders themselves since it used to work on 4.4 and still work through the gallery.
Anyway, any help appreciated.
Thank you for reading
Eric

I thought that the "regular" way you describe in your first paragraph is in fact a function of the gallery app.
Sent from my Nexus 5
Are you able to set the stock wallpapers through the regular way or is that only related to you picking pictures that you have downloaded or copied to your phone?
It might be due to format, file size etc... If it is the latter.

I can pick stock wallpapers (have no idea where they are located btw) that way but no picture of any kind (except when running Gallery and 'using them as wallaper'). I haven't messed up with the folders or the files and it works fine anyway, again, from the Gallery app.

Upload one of the pictures you're trying to use as a wallpaper. I'll try to recreate this on my phone and see if I end up with the same issues.

[Q] Xperia L Gallery Missing

Hi!!
Suddenly the Gallery app was missing. Not only the icon, the app.
I was checking, and it´s probably that Some Clean Program has erased it.
Now is only the Album App on it.
I couldn´t find the apk to reinstall. Found some, but all with spam... so there were modificated...
Is there anyway to reinstall without the factory reset?
Thanks!!

Factory reset won't help. On what ROM/firmware are you?
Android: 4.2.2
Compilación: 15.3.A.1.14
Not rooted. Not flashed. Only stock.
Thanks.
Then you can't have removed a system app. You could only have turned it off. Go to Settings > Apps > All > scroll down to the bottom of that list and then you see all the apps that are disabled (if any) and then you can restore them.
But I don't think there's a gallery app in stock sony firmware, because the Album app replaces it.

I did that... and now again. Only disabled some G+, wich is showing as disabled correctly.
But Gallery is not there.
And Gallery came with stock... maybe in it was installed for any reason. When I bought the cell, came with Android 4.1. Then update by it self.
Could be in a new firmware / update, the Gallery was deleted?
As far as I know, there's no app named GALLERY in Xperia L. The default app is named Album. So look for Album and not Gallery in the application list.
Also you're not rooted so its not possible that the app was deleted. You should search for app called Album and clear its cache and data. Hope this works
Also, in this case I believe factory reset will work.

Google Plus has a gallery-like app bundled within. Try enabling that app and then update it to the latest version. You can also disable it again later
Well, I have checked again as you recommend, and still can´t find the gallery app.
Also I enabled G+, but the icon Gallery is still missing...
But! always there is a But... I checked the G+ Photo Gallery, and looks pretty similar... is not the same, but very similar.
And in that moment, I remembered with gallery, there was some config to upload / syncronize with G+
So probably the G+ has changed, Or when I disabled G+ something stop and never came back again.
Some things are a mistery too. Maybe this is one of them.

[Q] Is the Moto G football animation still supposed to be active?

I am still stuck with the football/soccer boot animation, but my girlfriend's Moto G has reverted back to the original animation... I personally hate football, so I want rid of it too
I tried disabling Motorola Boot Services, and it asked me if I wanted to uninstall updates, so I said yes.
But that didn't get rid of it... so I reactivated it, and updated it again, but it's still there.
I found the bootanimation.zip, but the MP4 video animation that is in there is the 'normal' animation, and I can't find the football one anywhere.
So how can I get rid of this football animation? - I'm not rooted, and don't really want to root yet (only got this phone a few weeks ago, and it runs great with stock firmware with nova launcher).
I just uninstalled the updates and the boot animation returned back to stock (4.4.2)

The same thing that jeffvasquez28 did worked for me too. Here is the apk with the football one. Good luck.
uninstalling it through the play store or the disable app option didn't revert it for me, however...
I was finally able to get rid of it when using ES file explorer's uninstall apps feature. Whatever it did differently, it took the version back to 2.0.0 rather than 2.0.1, and the football animation is finally gone!
