Hi!!
Suddenly the Gallery app was missing. Not only the icon, the app.
I was checking, and it´s probably that Some Clean Program has erased it.
Now is only the Album App on it.
I couldn´t find the apk to reinstall. Found some, but all with spam... so there were modificated...
Is there anyway to reinstall without the factory reset?
Thanks!!

Factory reset won't help. On what ROM/firmware are you?
Android: 4.2.2
Compilación: 15.3.A.1.14
Not rooted. Not flashed. Only stock.
Thanks.
Then you can't have removed a system app. You could only have turned it off. Go to Settings > Apps > All > scroll down to the bottom of that list and then you see all the apps that are disabled (if any) and then you can restore them.
But I don't think there's a gallery app in stock sony firmware, because the Album app replaces it.

I did that... and now again. Only disabled some G+, wich is showing as disabled correctly.
But Gallery is not there.
And Gallery came with stock... maybe in it was installed for any reason. When I bought the cell, came with Android 4.1. Then update by it self.
Could be in a new firmware / update, the Gallery was deleted?
As far as I know, there's no app named GALLERY in Xperia L. The default app is named Album. So look for Album and not Gallery in the application list.
Also you're not rooted so its not possible that the app was deleted. You should search for app called Album and clear its cache and data. Hope this works
Also, in this case I believe factory reset will work.

Google Plus has a gallery-like app bundled within. Try enabling that app and then update it to the latest version. You can also disable it again later
Well, I have checked again as you recommend, and still can´t find the gallery app.
Also I enabled G+, but the icon Gallery is still missing...
But! always there is a But... I checked the G+ Photo Gallery, and looks pretty similar... is not the same, but very similar.
And in that moment, I remembered with gallery, there was some config to upload / syncronize with G+
So probably the G+ has changed, Or when I disabled G+ something stop and never came back again.
Some things are a mistery too. Maybe this is one of them.

Hey everyone,
Sorry if this was before, I searched but couldn't find a similar problem. This started to happen after I uninstalled a music player app.
This "music player"-like shadow on the screen is annoying as hell. I can press the "Pause" button, but that's all. Everytime I lock the phone and wait a minute or two this appear. I wanted to install the app again, but I can't remember which one it was.
Is there any way to remove this..."thing"?
Thanks in advance.
What version are you running?
If it is 4.2 or above is it a widget?
Maybe go to Settings > Apps and look for the app that you uninstalled to make sure it is gone.
Im not really sure otherwise. Could possibly go to Play Store > My Apps and look for downloaded apps to reinstall and uninstall.

Found it, thank you! I searched widgets that looked like that "shadow" of mine and it was the 8tracks app I installed. As soon as I stopped it, the problem went away.
Thank you once again,
Cheers!
No problem, let me know if I can help with anything else
hi, wonder if anyone can help, i hope i dont have to wipe and flash again.
I recently flashed Wicked rom v7 on SSGS4 (SGH-M919), and when flashing I chose to include the google camera app.
I am also using the AOSP lock screen so when I swipe left from the lock screen it goes straight to camera. I was trying different camera apps and setting the default camera that launches from the lock screen, and for all the other cameras I was able to go to app manager and clear the defaults. However, the google camera does not show up in my app manager, so after I set it to the default camera I cannot clear that default, now I am stuck with the google camera as my default.
I tried downloading that app "Default app manager" but it also does not see the google camera app. Tried turning off the AOSP lock screen (from the wicked rom manager) and turning back on, and the google camera is still set as default. also tried searching forums and google but cannot seem to find anything.
Any idea where this default setting is actually stored, like is there a file somewhere either in the app folder or a system folder that stores this setting, that I am able to manually clear?
thanks
OK after much messing around I figured it out, the Camera app is called photosphere.apk because they named it after its new feature. can't figure out how to delete this thread so I'll just post the answer.
using Root Browser for android, I had to go into /system/app, and make a backup copy and then delete Photosphere.apk - that is the app that contains the 4.3 Camera and gallery (and its icon is the gallery icon). then restart the phone, set a new default camera app, then copy photosphere.apk back into the /system/app folder and restart.
Apologies if this has been posted before, I tried to use the search feature but it was giving me an error saying it was temporarily unavailable.
For some reason any downloaded images to my phone (into the folder Downloads or otherwise) are not showing in the stock gallery app? I've tried force stopping the app, clearing the data and cache but still it doesn't want to show the new images
The files aren't corrupt and can be seen in ES File Explorer perfectly fine and I've downloaded Quickpic to see if they show on there, which they do.
Can anyone help?
Thanks!
Yes, happens with me all the time... it gets sorted out by itself.. give it sometime. Refresh gallery from the 3 dot menu in gallery and stay put!
I use QuickPic as my default gallery app... I find it the best!
So, I've done some research into this and I'm struggling to get any results. I have noticed since installing 5.0 Lollipop, the default 'Gallery' app has disappeared and has instead been replaced with the 'Photos' app which comes built into Google+.
I've personally never found any use or need out of Google+ and always disable the app and the 'Photos' app.
Doing this however, now leaves me without a gallery.
I installed Cyanogen's gallery from the Play Store, but this is not automatically set to a default and so when I'm sharing or sending images, the gallery app to open images does not appear.
When I installed the APK for the KitKat gallery, it embodied itself into the 'Photos' app and when I tried to open it, it crashed because 'Photos' is disabled.
Any ideas?
QuickPic beta

I'm in the same boat as you. Loved the Gallery app and don't find the Photos app useful at all.
Which Gallery APK did you install? I installed the one from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-4/themes-apps/app-4-4-apps-hangouts-google-launcher-t2506344
It works, is in the menu prompts (when opening files), etc.
The only thing that doesn't work is the "edit" function since I'm guessing the links the to the built in photo editor are busted with the 5.0 update. So basically if I need to edit a photo I used Photos, but everything else I just use Gallery.

Download default Android 4.4 Gallery from here.
It works just fine in Android 5.0.
After the recent Pie update I noticed that there is no more Google Photos link in Camera app. When I open the fresh photo from within the Camera app, it opens in separate editor.
So the question is:
Can I bring back good old Photos to my camera?
P.S. It's not just that link is missing. If I delete the photo from within this weird new editor, it stays in Photos app.

I had the same problem when I removed the oneplus galley app with the 'system app safe remover' app (Root required) from the playstore. Even with a different camera app. Installing OnePlus Gallery again from the playstore didn't solve he problem.
Tried to remove the DCIM folder by renaming it, I restored the uninstallation with 'system app safe remover' but that didn't solve the problem either. Removing all updates for the oneplus gallery app by "uninstalling' the Oneplus Gallery app from the playstore. It removed all updates but didn't solve it either. What it did fix was flashing the same rom without wiping the userdata. after that it worked again.
Hope it will solve your problem too.
Maybe offtopic: Anyone knows how to uninstall the default oneplus gallery app without breaking the link to the DCIM photo's?
