Hi,
Device : Nexus 5 international version (LG-D821) 16 Gb.
System : Stock 4.4.2/KOT49H, unrooted, locked (updated from original 4.4 via OTA)
My problem is the following: I can't set the wallpaper using the regular way (tapping screen/wallpaper/select picture/picking any picture from any folder) and get a error message at the bottom (even before actually setting it) which says 'Can't load picture'.
I get this message on any picture (camera pictures, my own wallpaper folder, downloaded pictures, whatever) anywhere.
So, right now I'm forced to use the gallery app and the "use as wallpaper" function (and 100% of all the pictures I have work fine).
I'm not sure it's a 4.4.2 related issue, I can't remember if I changed the wallpaper using the very same way right after the OTA. What I do remember is it worked perfectly on 4.4.
So I wonder if it's a known 4.4.2 issue/bug.
It doesn't seem related to the files or folders themselves since it used to work on 4.4 and still work through the gallery.
Anyway, any help appreciated.
Thank you for reading
Eric

I thought that the "regular" way you describe in your first paragraph is in fact a function of the gallery app.

Are you able to set the stock wallpapers through the regular way or is that only related to you picking pictures that you have downloaded or copied to your phone?
It might be due to format, file size etc... If it is the latter.

I can pick stock wallpapers (have no idea where they are located btw) that way but no picture of any kind (except when running Gallery and 'using them as wallaper'). I haven't messed up with the folders or the files and it works fine anyway, again, from the Gallery app.

Upload one of the pictures you're trying to use as a wallpaper. I'll try to recreate this on my phone and see if I end up with the same issues.

Hey guys, I was just wondering if it is possible to re arrange the sort of which our device displays images in folders in the stock gallery? I think it would only make sense if it showed the newest images first as opposed to what it is now, last. I have tried checking settings and everything, seems there is no way to change the sort order. Any one else have issues with this or know how to change it? Preferably, not by using a 3rd party gallery app. Thanks.
I've finally got round to rooting and putting on a custom ROM on my TF101 after 2 years of ownership! Does anyone have a link for the original (or updated) dayscene live wallpaper for the TF101. I've googled it and I've had problems installing a few of the ones I've tried.
The only one that works for me is the updated one on Galaxy 10 thread [http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1638541] which looks good in landscape but is "letterboxed" in portrait if I scroll to a left or right Homescreen.

Check your inbox, I sent you a link. Reason I keep it private is I'm not sure of the implications of this backup, since it's somewhat of a built-in app and I don't want to send a backup to the open.
This is a Titanium Backup Pro (5.6.0) backup dump from the original stock firmware. You should be able to restore it through the non-pro version as well. Your problems could also be with the ROM you're using, assuming different settings/configs/versions for the entire GFX part.
I'm using the latest Asus stock rom + root and I have no issues whatsoever with 10+ live wallpapers, so I would tend to think the issue is with your ROM.
Let me know how it works out!

Thanks for taking the time out to do that : )
I've downloaded and I'll try it through Titanium in the next couple of days and let you know how it works. One thing I noticed is the file size seems pretty small but maybe that's a Titanium compression thing? I'll let you know.

@ Lethe6
I tried to restore through Titanium (I have the PRO version too) and it imports the file successfully but then when it tries to restore, it just sticks on the spinning icon forever. First I thought it was because the files inside the zip are pretty big but I left it for over 10 mins and it was still "restoring" when I got back so I killed it. I tried it through the "alternative" restore option it suggests if the first one doesn't work but no luck there either. (I'm on the EOS JB ROM so I don't know if that's a factor).
Thanks for sending it anyway.
@ *Detection*
That's actually the one I've downloaded and was using (and referenced in my post) . It's fine in landscape, but in portrait it's cut off on the sides so I've got a black strip on either side when I scroll to one of the other homescreens. Not the end of the world but annoying all the same! I think it's optimised for the Tab which has a different screen res.

Ah damn sorry, totally missed your link in OP
If you're wanting the original one from the TF101, can't you grab a ROM from ASUS and extract it / custom ROM from one of the devs
EDIT - Just extracted a backup I had, not sure how long ago its from but it had the wallpaper you're after in system/app
.apk
http://localhostr.com/files/jM3sIAg/AsusDayScene.apk
.odex
http://localhostr.com/files/kIrvcTQ/AsusDayScene.odex
Don't know if you can just drop them into system/app and then reboot, or if they need modding, but worth a shot
as the title says gallery won't show all wallpapers on the device, it is supposed to show all folders that contain wallpapers , photos, and videos but the gallery doesnt show all wallpapers except the DCIM folder
i tried to download other gallery apps like QuickPic and worked fine with me and showed all wallpapers on the device then i went to the main gallery it started to show some folders that weren't been showed before but not all the folder also not all the wallpapers inside them i tried to download another gallery apps like Customizable gallery 3D it showed only the folders and wallpapers that the main gallery shows them
so any solution for this problem?

Try clearing data for the Gallery app or reflashing your rom. I prefer using QuickPic and haven't used stock gallery apps since I preordered this phone. QuickPic allows you to set multiple different file paths to include so it picks up just those pics/vids in those directories.
I have cleared the cache and data but still not showing all wallpapers i got, but i noticed that some folders have begun to be showed also not all folders/wallpapers on the phone

You might want to try reflashing your rom then. As I said, I'm rather inexperienced with the stock Gallery app cuz I prefer third party. I never liked the UI of stock gallery apps.
I had trouble too with the stock gallery. I ditched it for Quickpic a long time ago.

Hey,
Can any one tell me how can I save a picture in the default wallpaper folder of my android device??
As every time I set any picture that is not a default picture of my set I've to crop it. I'm using 2 different android devices, one of them is Samsung galaxy star pro, this one is rooted. I've been searching the net for this issue and found that it's packed with the launcher.apk, if it is true then is there any way by which I can set my images without cropping and without using any apps(like image2wallpaper and all)????
I've also tried different kinds of apps, but the results are not satisfactory, in many cases the images is zoomed or some other problem.
So it would be much easier if I can simply put my photos directly into the default WP folder, then I wont have to use any app.

As far as i know size must be horizontal x 2 + vertical x1
Like if you have 720*1280 screen, wallpaper must be 1440*1280
İ am not so sure tho.
I've noticed this too. Part of the cropping 'problem' is due to they way Android is made. As Android is used on both devices that work in portrait (like phones) and landscape (most larger tablets), the OS is made to encompass both. Your default launcher on the other hand may restrict your orientation but the Android OS still has to take in account for the other orientation. This can make finding a wallpaper that works well difficult. The general rule is to find a square image that matches your screens height. This will result in the best, centered, crop.
As for where the default wallpapers are stored, I don't know. I poked around my device for a bit and didn't find any of them. My assumption is they are stored in a system app or archive.

even if I maintain the aspect ratio the scrolling won't work with any images except the default ones. Do you have any suggestions for that ?

That is most likely a restriction of your devices' launcher. An aftermarket launcher like Nova will give you that scrolling effect no problem.
Try CM11 kitkat. It donT really crop the image.

agree.. i used Pro-bam based on cm11 . and it show give the best view on wallpaper. although it is not show the full of image.
So, I've done some research into this and I'm struggling to get any results. I have noticed since installing 5.0 Lollipop, the default 'Gallery' app has disappeared and has instead been replaced with the 'Photos' app which comes built into Google+.
I've personally never found any use or need out of Google+ and always disable the app and the 'Photos' app.
Doing this however, now leaves me without a gallery.
I installed Cyanogen's gallery from the Play Store, but this is not automatically set to a default and so when I'm sharing or sending images, the gallery app to open images does not appear.
When I installed the APK for the KitKat gallery, it embodied itself into the 'Photos' app and when I tried to open it, it crashed because 'Photos' is disabled.
Any ideas?

I'm in the same boat as you. Loved the Gallery app and don't find the Photos app useful at all.
Which Gallery APK did you install? I installed the one from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-4/themes-apps/app-4-4-apps-hangouts-google-launcher-t2506344
It works, is in the menu prompts (when opening files), etc.
The only thing that doesn't work is the "edit" function since I'm guessing the links the to the built in photo editor are busted with the 5.0 update. So basically if I need to edit a photo I used Photos, but everything else I just use Gallery.

Download default Android 4.4 Gallery from here.
It works just fine in Android 5.0.
