Hey,
Can any one tell me how can I save a picture in the default wallpaper folder of my android device??
As every time I set any picture that is not a default picture of my set I've to crop it. I'm using 2 different android devices, one of them is Samsung galaxy star pro, this one is rooted. I've been searching the net for this issue and found that it's packed with the launcher.apk, if it is true then is there any way by which I can set my images without cropping and without using any apps(like image2wallpaper and all)????
I've also tried different kinds of apps, but the results are not satisfactory, in many cases the images is zoomed or some other problem.
So it would be much easier if I can simply put my photos directly into the default WP folder, then I wont have to use any app.

As far as i know size must be horizontal x 2 + vertical x1
Like if you have 720*1280 screen, wallpaper must be 1440*1280
İ am not so sure tho.
I've noticed this too. Part of the cropping 'problem' is due to they way Android is made. As Android is used on both devices that work in portrait (like phones) and landscape (most larger tablets), the OS is made to encompass both. Your default launcher on the other hand may restrict your orientation but the Android OS still has to take in account for the other orientation. This can make finding a wallpaper that works well difficult. The general rule is to find a square image that matches your screens height. This will result in the best, centered, crop.
As for where the default wallpapers are stored, I don't know. I poked around my device for a bit and didn't find any of them. My assumption is they are stored in a system app or archive.

even if I maintain the aspect ratio the scrolling won't work with any images except the default ones. Do you have any suggestions for that ?

That is most likely a restriction of your devices' launcher. An aftermarket launcher like Nova will give you that scrolling effect no problem.
Try CM11 kitkat. It donT really crop the image.

So is there, or will there, be a way to artificially increase the screen resolution for the Skyrocket (much like this)?
I just moved from the Atrix and the lower screen resolution is killing me with the 4.5" screen. I feel like I'm using an old persons phone with the ginormous buttons and font, plus I hate not being able to fit as much information onto the screen. I'm considering moving to the Atrix 2 just for the resolution issue
Only thing I know of is the app LCD Density Changer from the market. Used it back on my Captivate. Not sure how well it works with the sr, but it was fantastic on my Captivate.

First thats hillarious. The atrix/atrix 2 are childs toys compared to the skyrocket. But there is an app called lcd density changer on the market. It requires root. , and if you change the settings apps may show up as unsupported in the market. So you would need to change it back to stock when on the android market.
I know what you mean OP. came from the atrix as well. u can use LCD density changer. along with the market problems (some updates wont even show up until you revert it back)
the touchwiz and its dialer will end up quite wonky as well as they don't adjust to the new resolution well. your option there will be to use a different launcher app/ dialer app.
Well then this solved all my problems! I set it to 200 DPI (instead of the default 240 DPI) and it looks so, so much better.
So far no issues except trying to download apps (I think updating works fine though). Anyone use this regularly and find any specific issues, whether it be with certain applications or whatnot?
Thanks again!
even though i dont use density changer i just go edit the build.prop and change it there.
i have no issues with density less the market stuff, and of course it looks like **** on TW. i have to use another launcher to make it look better. i hate the dead space left on TW when you lower the density.
i leave mine at 210.
Hey guys,
I'm trying (without luck so far) to change the DPI setting on my tablet so that I can have more screen real estate.
I'm running stock (ICS) rooted on my Galaxy Tab 2 7" - this ROM:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1798283
So far, I've tried:
- Editing build.prop myself to change DPI manually
- Using an app from the Play story
- Following the suggestions in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1826067
(no luck at all, because this app doesn't even include the lcd density slider)
In all cases, I either get no result, or I get a black startup screen. After each method/approach, I restore a clean backup from CWM (so the approaches aren't conflicting with each other).
I can't get anything to work. Any suggestions?
Did you try "Rom Toolbox Lite" from the play store. You need root to use it.
Performance > Build.prop Tweaks > LCD density ... pick what you want > Reboot.
Sorry if you tried that already but that's the easiest way to do it as far as i know.
May be because of stock rom try cm10 from www.teamhacksung.org you will not be disappointed i use it now marvellous !!!

I did indeed try that. Unfortunately, the LCD density simply isn't an option under the Build.prop tweaks menu. I'm guessing that this has something to do with the fact that my build.prop actually contains no reference to LCD density. The normal build.prop entry isn't there. I don't understand the nuts and bolts of this well enough to know why, but somehow, the system is getting its LCD density settings from something other than build.prop.
I've truly read every item in build.prop, and nothing appears to be related to LCD density, even by another name. It just doesn't seem to be in there, which is probably why Rom Toolbox Lite is intelligently removing that particular slider option from my view.

I'm completely open to going to CM10, but I'll tell you my reservation (and maybe you can tell me if I'm just missing something obvious):
I tried two or three of the CM10 roms yesterday. In all cases, when I booted to my homescreen, it was stuck in landscape mode. It wouldn't rotate into portrait, no matter what I did. I spent hours combing through threads, trying to figure out why one of the most basic aspects of being a tablet (the ability to rotate orientations) was not working. I finally came across a solution that required downloading a new launcher APK. I applied the solution, and it worked. But it felt glitchy, and the whole user experience situation was a bit disappointing. It didn't feel smooth, not that their was intense lag, but there was a noticeable UI performance hit (at least in my own subjective opinion).
It IS sort of killing me that I can't get the DPI to something more reasonable though - so I'm a motivated CM10-er. I just can't deal with a tablet that I'll practically never use in landscape, being stuck in landscape.
Have you tried setting/display/rotation and ticked autorotate, include lock screen and 0,90,180,270 degrees
You could also try Nova or apex launchers or go launcher hd i use it now

Yep. I think it's actually a known bug.
I have somewhat mixed emotions about eschewing the bloatware of the stock Samsung experience, only to put on a 3rd party launcher after the fact. But that's a philosophical debate best had elsewhere. I think my issue with CM10 or AOSP right now, is that stuff just doesn't seem to work right on the P3113. I could be wrong - in fact, I very well might be wrong. I'm not necessarily as up to date as someone who has owned this tablet for more than 3 days. But in terms of the 10 or so hours I've spent clunking away at it this weekend, it seems like some really obvious stuff is missing. (rotation, etc).
I had been looking around for a way to lower the Infinity's resolution for a while, since lets face it, many games don't really like to run smooth at full HD.
Well i discovered an app that allows you to set the tablet's resolution to whatever you want (within reason) making many games run at much better frame rates
Resolution Changer Lite
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nexter.miniscalerfree&hl=en
There are a few issues however to be aware of.
Lowering my resolution made system ui crash repeatedly. The solution i found is to use GMD gesture control to hide the systembar.
"Fullscreen!" will also do the trick. You may also want something like "Pie Control" to replace the system buttons.
Also the asus keyboard crashed repeatedly after resolution change. To fix this i simply change to the google keyboard before lowering resolutions.
Asus weather seems to crash as well but only once and who cares about weather when your gaming
So for best results
1. change to google keyboard (or any other than asus)
2. hide systembar
3. change resolution
4. game at higher fps than ever before
5. change resolution back
6. reactivate systembar and change back to asus keyboard if desired.
Hope a few out there find this helpful.
Happy gaming

It does change resolution(Its nothing new though, used to run commands to do it, app just makes it easier) make sure you have a twrp back done before you attempt, i think it needs the tablet ui set, or you'll get the issue i had above.
Does it help performance or with transition being smoother?

Yes it will, by how much, have no idea. But transitions might be smoother, but the decrease in resolution will be much much more noticable
Hi,
Device : Nexus 5 international version (LG-D821) 16 Gb.
System : Stock 4.4.2/KOT49H, unrooted, locked (updated from original 4.4 via OTA)
My problem is the following: I can't set the wallpaper using the regular way (tapping screen/wallpaper/select picture/picking any picture from any folder) and get a error message at the bottom (even before actually setting it) which says 'Can't load picture'.
I get this message on any picture (camera pictures, my own wallpaper folder, downloaded pictures, whatever) anywhere.
So, right now I'm forced to use the gallery app and the "use as wallpaper" function (and 100% of all the pictures I have work fine).
I'm not sure it's a 4.4.2 related issue, I can't remember if I changed the wallpaper using the very same way right after the OTA. What I do remember is it worked perfectly on 4.4.
So I wonder if it's a known 4.4.2 issue/bug.
It doesn't seem related to the files or folders themselves since it used to work on 4.4 and still work through the gallery.
Anyway, any help appreciated.
Thank you for reading
Eric

I thought that the "regular" way you describe in your first paragraph is in fact a function of the gallery app.

Are you able to set the stock wallpapers through the regular way or is that only related to you picking pictures that you have downloaded or copied to your phone?
It might be due to format, file size etc... If it is the latter.

I can pick stock wallpapers (have no idea where they are located btw) that way but no picture of any kind (except when running Gallery and 'using them as wallaper'). I haven't messed up with the folders or the files and it works fine anyway, again, from the Gallery app.

Upload one of the pictures you're trying to use as a wallpaper. I'll try to recreate this on my phone and see if I end up with the same issues.

Actually I completely agree with you. It is fairly childish but honestly Note 2 on CM11 this app works better than the currently alternative. Hence my excitement
Missing options
i do have an issue, there's no panorama, and no photo sphere, even tho i have this options on my cm11 camera
Apparently Google is leaning towards "dumbing things down" by removing the more complex capabilities in some of their native apps by making them so simplistic as to literally become "point and shoot," especially with respect to this particular camera app. But when you think about it, the overwhelming majority of smartphone owners want just that: a device that works, that's simple to use, and doesn't require a huge set of menu options to just "point and shoot" and get good/useful results so, I suppose it's a winner in that manner for sure.
Tried it a few times, doesn't seem particularly special or useful over some other camera apps like Focal or others. Doesn't seem to do HDR natively and there's no option to enable it so that relegates this app to "ok, I tried it and then I uninstalled it" status for me.
For me its not better than LG G2 modded cam app.
The issue with me is that the CM11 Camera app gets stuck too often hence this is a great alternative
It is good, the only problem for me is when the flash is on and I tap to focus and than to take a picture theres a lag of about 5 seconds. Anyone have this problem? Also no HDR mod, and my camera have that option.
I'm having FC on settings option, on carbon kitkat in Samsung i9070.
love the lens blur mode. Any more cam apps that have this option?
I like it.
Yes the settings option does FC the app but honestly at this current moment, its better than the default camera app.
actually, the only setting i would change is 16:9 ratio, nothing else.
if some1 knows a shortcut for this...?
Good to know, may need to try this out, with custom roms i found a few the camera app always frooze or crashed

I've tried to change the settings thru the preferences files saved in \\data\data\com.googleCamera\shared_prefs\, but I couldn't change the resolution to the max, only the grid, flash, etc.
I want to change the "photosphere" and the "lens blur" to max resolution.
Any Idea?
let me try
Going to download it now and give a try in my grand i9082
I'll be trying it out on my Galaxy S2 with PACROM 4.4.2
Someone minds uploading it somewhere and sharing the link, I can find it on play store but it says its not available in my country I find that weird as its just a camara application...
Thanks in advance...
