There aren’t many useful tutorials on how to root Motorola Fire XT around. After buying the device, I had to go through a lot of mixed guides, tutorials, and instructions to finally root my Motorola Fire XT. In this tutorial, I’ll describe the simplest procedure for rooting the Motorola Fire XT 530/531.
Steps:
Download this rooting package. (Contains a patch for Motorola Fire XT, SuperOneClick v2.3.3 and SUTLR_v1.8.2)
Extract each .zip inside it.
Install SUTLR. The supplied setup file installs on both x64 and x86 systems.
Open SUT LR. Click on ‘Next’. Select the file FXX_PR3_NV.xml image file inside the “Patch Motorola Fire XT” folder.
On your phone, go to settings > applications. Check allow installation of apps from unknown sources. Then go to settings > developement. Check USB Debugging, and Stay Awake (Optional).
Connect your phone to PC. Don’t choose anything on the phone. DON’T EVER select mass-storage.
Flash the image file (.xml) on your phone by clicking ‘next’.
Your phone will restart several times and this process won’t take much time.
When your phone is back online, you can perform a restart if you wish.
Go to the SuperOneClick folder and open it. Click on ‘Root’, and within a minute, you’re done!
Enjoy your rooted Motorola Fire XT!
It takes less than 5 minutes to root it. Tested and safe procedure. However, I hold no responsibility if you do anything wrong during the patching and make your phone die.
You’ll see the ‘SuperUser’ app when you press the launcher button. Let me know if you have any questions at all regarding this tutorial.

The same happened with me. Maybe missing some drive, even though I already installed the MotorolaDeviceManager_2.3.4.
Someone has an idea what is happening?

can i update SUPER USER app from the MARKET ??

This method works & I rooted my phone. Motorola Fire XT was uncrackable for a long time.
Be careful not to move essential programs such as Contacts , Google Framework services to the SD card using Link2SD. I bricked my phone doing it.

first steps
--------------
extract "p940_ics_root.rar".
install LG USB drivers from the "1. Driver" directory.
replace your windows hosts file with the one of the "2. Edited Windows Hosts File" folder. You find it in Windows Vista / 7 at -> "C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc".
copy the folder "shttps" from the "3. Flash Tools" folder to "C:\" and start the "http.exe".
install "msxml.msi" from the "3. Flash Tools" folder.
install "B2CAppSetup.exe" (LGMobile Support Tool) from the "3. Flash Tools" folder and close both apps that start right after the installation.
root device
---------------
enable "USB-Debugging" on the device at "Settings | Developer".
put the USB cable in the device and let the system install the drivers.
shutdown the device.
right after the device has completely shutdown hold both the "Volume+" and "Power" key until you can see the following message on the screen -> "S/W Upgrade - Please wait while upgrading...".
start the "UpTestEX_mod2_marwin.exe" from the "3. Flash Tools" folder.
Select on the left side "Select Type" -> "3GQCT". Select on the right side "PhoneMode" -> "EMERGENCY" and at "Select kdz file" enter the Official LG ICS European Firmware Update.
Now click on "Normal web upgrade test" and on "Upgrade Start".
In the opening window select "Country" -> "Different Country" und "Language" -> "YOUR LANGUAGE". Now click at "OK".
Now you have to keep an eye on the temporary folder of the flash software.
You find it in Windows Vista / 7 at -> "C:\ProgramData\LGMOBILEAX\Phone". In Windows XP at "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\LGMOBILEAX\Phone".
(It starts to create the files when you see the following message on the screen -> "Running the LG Mobile Phone Software Update" steht).
Right after it created "LGP940_AP[1].bin" replace it with the file of the "4. Patched v20d firmware part" folder. Now you have to wait till the firmware update is finished.
After the phone has sucessfully booted into the new os start the "root.bat" from the "5. Root" folder. It reboots the device again and roots it.

Great post and good instructions.
However, is there a way to flash back GB 2.3.7 from ICS 4.0.4?
I tried flashing back to 2.3.7 ROM, but after flashing the system only partition 264MB of internal storage (from 4.0GB) It is missing 3.7GB of storage for some reason.

First of all, I recently bought and received the unlocked Prada phone from Amazon and it's stunning!
I guess I am a little confused. IF the phone is updated from GB to ICS, must the phone (bootloader) require unlock again? Is that why it's better off update and root now vs waiting for the official update to ICS?
Coming from the iOS community, I really got so used to (and tired) of the JB/Unlock 'every single time' the OS is updated. Is it also true for Android OS?

I think i've improved ICS upgrade and root method. If anyone wants to try it here it goes... It should be all ok.
All files needed are in this post.
STEP 1 - flash patched rom
. download file: 4shared.com/zip/L0MIl6Sh/lg_p940_ics_root.html
. download file: 4shared.com/zip/xDoBH8kT/patched_rom_v20d.html
. uncompress files in computer
. install LG USB drivers from directory "1. drivers"
. enable "usb debugging" on phone at "settings -> developer"
. connect usb cable to phone and computer and wait for drivers to install
. shutdown phone, then press and hold "vol.+" and "power" at same time until you see "S/W Upgrade - Please wait while upgrading..."
. go to folder "2. smartflash tool" and run "B_SmartFlashTool_Extern.exe"
. on top select "ROM copy D/L"
. choose "CP bin" -> "LGP940_CP.fls" (file is in "patched rom v20d" folder)
. choose "AP bin" -> "LGP940_AP.bin" (file is in "patched rom v20d" folder)
. leave "Select mode" in "Normal mode" check that "Erase entire CP" is NOT ticked
. choose correct "COM Port"
. choose "LGE Mobile USB Serial Port" in "Communication Driver"
. click "Start" and wait till process is completed, then close program
STEP 2 - root
. after first boot, run "root.bat" (file is in "3. root" folder)
. wait till phone reboots, then it will be already rooted
WARNING:
Busybox won't be installed after root is completed.
It is recommended to copy "stericson.busybox-1.apk" file to phone memory and install it (or go to Google Play and search for busybox and install)

IMPORTANT Info (read this before proceeding any further):
- Please back-up your system folder using any file manager (ES or file manager) before doing root. specifically the busybox file.
- Also, do a back-up of all your messages, contacts, call logs and apps using the Backup and restore application.
- Rooting your device will VOID its warranty.
- Download and use these files at your own risk. I will not be held responsible for any damages or failures that might happen to your PC or device.
What you need:
1. S2-4.0-root folder containing the root.exe. Download link* (Download this file and extract to your local drive. In my case I placed it on my drive D :\). By the way, This file was sourced from the MU forum.
2. USB Drivers (with ADB driver) here: Driver link.
3. ADB installed on your machine – see below.

1. Make sure that you can connect to your device via ADB before you continue rooting your beloved P700.

Root Proper:
Once you have verified that you can connect to your device using ADB, then follow the steps detailed below.
1. Connect your P700 (powered ON) to your PC using the supplied USB cable.
2. Open command prompt and type “ADB devices”. This should show a set of numbers corresponding to your device (see screenshot on top). If not check ADB topic above.
3. Browse to the location where you placed the S2-4.0 folder. Open it and run P700_ROOTv1.0.exe (WARNING: this action would immediately reboot your device) and follow the instruction on screen.
4. Wait until your device is ready.
5. Hit Enter and your device will reboot again. Follow the on screen instruction and wait until your device is ready.
6. Hit Enter when your device has completely restarted.
7. Now you will be prompted with the following line: uid=0 <root> gid=0<root> (follow the instructions next to it). In my case - id is 0. If not, try again and repeat the procedure as mentioned in the instructions.
8. Hit Enter again and your device will reboot for a third time and you will see the following lines: Remount succeeded….....
9. Once your device is completely restarted, hit Enter and the windowed root dialog will automatically close.
Your device should now be rooted.

How to check if you are rooted
1. Use ADB shell and check that you can run su.
2. Use Root checker (download from Google play store).
3. Use ES file explorer or any file manager to enable Root explorer and mount the system folder. If you don’t have any issue with these steps then your device is already rooted.

NOTES:
- The following files will be pushed to your system (Superuser, su , MobileUncle toolbox and RE Chinese).
- Root explorer (Chinese) will be installed on your device. You can opt to remove this app using Titanium backup.
- This process was tested on the current ROW(Rest of the World) build (P700_ROW_S108_120614), so I am not sure if this will work on other available builds out there.
- If you see or experience any issues, you can always do a factory Data reset (root will be preserved).

I have taken the P700_ROW_S113, cooked in some modifications (most importantly I replaced the kernel) flashed it on my Lenovo A750
It looks like it is working well. Which I expected, as the P700 is just the A750 with a different screen, but the screen is in the kernel. Just like the P700i seems to be the A789 with a different screen.
I did so in the hope of getting the ROW "Rest Of World" languages. However, it seems to only contain Vietnamese in addition to English and Chinese.
Do you know if this is normal for the ROW's? Or did I download one that has already been tweaked, not the original?

Hello cybermaus,
Unfortunately the P700 ROW version only have English, Vietnamese and Chinese on it. Maybe due to the reason that P700 ROW was only officially marketed on these areas.

Preparation
Activate USB-Debugging (settings -> applications -> development )
Install Motorola-driver (you can get them from the Motorola homepage, by clicking here)
Activate "unknown applications" (settings -> applications)
Connect your phone to your PC
Download the two attached files

New Method
Extract/Unpack "_cwm_recovery.zip"
Start "_BootRecovery.exe" (this will start CWM Recovery)
Follow the instructions mentioned in the window of the program
When your in CWM Recovery now, do a nandroid/backup first ("backup and restore" -> "backup")
Back in main-menu press "mounts and storage" -> "mount USB storage"
Now your sdcard should be mounted in windows.
Copy & Paste "XT615_cwmSU.zip" to your sdcard
Back in main-menu press "install zip from sdcard" -> "choose zip from sdcard" -> "XT615_cwmSU.zip"
Confirm that you want to flash
Back in main-menu press "reboot system now"
Finished!

You could try it, but i won´t be responsible for anything.
Most motorola gingerbread phones got rooted this way.
Don´t forget it could brick your phone! The percentage is low but it might be.

Make a nandroid and flash the rom. If its not working your able to restore

SUTLR Problems
I'm having problems installing sutlr, my pc runs win 7 64 bit, after installing it it gives me an error and opens a useless grey window.

I am having the same issue as him above. Stuck at #7 also.
Model:XT615
Android Version: 2.3.7
Baseband Version: PR3
Kernel: Apps_2.6.38.6-perf
Build number: 1_74F_1022

I hope you´ve runned SUTLR successfully otherwise it wont work.
Run SuperOneClick as administrator (right-click on SuperOneClick.exe -> run as administrator).
Before clicking on "root" in SOC set the Exploit (top right corner) to "ZergRush".
Be aware you´ve reconnected your phone after activing "USB-Debugging".
Normaly it should work if you keep the steps in mind.
Report if you were successfull

Nope still same issue. When it hits step 7 it goes none responding.
here a screan shot and step i took
1: Fresh Phone fully rebooted.
2: Start SULTR. it does it things than the phone reboot
3: Started SOC and setted the exploit to ZerRush than click root
4: Stuck at step 7

Oh and yes i started SOC as an admin.

Then try it with this:
1. Download this pack here.
This is a update.zip to gain root via CWM.
2. Copy the files to your sd-card
3. Run Temp-CWM (HowTo discribed here)
4. Choose "Flash .zip from sdcard" and select the .zip you´ve downloaded in step 1.
5. Reboot
6. Run root checker (playstore) or something else to test

[GUIDE] How to ROOT CHERRY MOBILE CLICK & FLARE

Cherry Mobile Android is one of the Cheapest Android Phones developed in Philippines.
This time i will guide you of how to root your CHERRY MOBILE CLICK & FLARE
BEFORE ROOTING YOUR CM PHONE:
WARNING: Rooting can brick your phone and will also void its warranty. Do it at your own risk. I'm not responsible for any possible damage that may happen to your device.
Download to your computer this Root Tools.zip file that contains PdaNet for Windows 7/8/XP & Vista with Root and Restore by Bin4ry> DOWNLOAD
Unzip the file downloaded with winrar HERE
Put everything in one Folder.
For Windows 7/8/Vista, after unzipping, right click RunMe then click on Properties > click the Compatibility tab > check Compatibility and set it to Windows XP SP3 > Ok
Then Enable USB debugging on your phone. Go to Settings > Developer Options > USB Debugging.
Also Enable "Stay Awake" for you to be able to see if your phone is responsive.
Do not connect your phone to the computer yet until you are prompted.
ROOTING PROCESS
On your Computer/Laptop, double click on PdaNetA4126 and continue with the installation until you see a pop-up message like the one below.

*Select Others then click OK.
*If Prompted, a warning message will appear that says "Windows can't verify the publisher of this driver software." Then Click "Install this driver software anyway" or "Reinstall Drivers" sample image Below.
*PdaNetA4126 will now ask you to connect your device to the computer. Connect your phone to your computer via USB cable. Don't enable any modes like USB storage, and etc.
Let the driver installation complete,dont do anything but let it finish first.
*After Finishing Instatallation of drivers. On your PC again, double click on RunMe.bat.

*A command prompt window will pop-up. Press 1 and hit the Enter.
*If you want to unroot, simply type x and hit enter.
*On your phone, tap “Restore my data”, this will reboot your phone, wait for your phone to be fully ready. Entering password is unnecessary, just hit “Restore my data” before it reboots itself. (as for what i experienced, my phone rebooted itself after 5seconds without having the chance of hitting Restore button)
==If your phone reboots without pressing the Restore Button, You need to reboot the phone by pulling out the battery and putting it back and re-run/re-install everything from the start for another fresh root process, because your phone and drivers may not be responsive after failure of attempt and you may also fail to root without doing it.It may also brick your phone.==
*On your computer, the command prompt will require you to press any key to continue.
Congratulations!!! You've successfully rooted your Cherry Mobile Click/Flare!!! Check your apps and look for Supersu App
To check if you have successfully rooted your phone, download Root Checker HERE
To remove Unnecessary Apps (Bloatwares) that causes to slow your phone down, here is the perfect app DOWNLOAD HERE
it will allow you to remove unnecessary apps such as e-warranty, cherry fun club and more. its free and friendly user app, just dont fool around with your system apps that may be linked to your system processes, if you delete the wrong file accidentally, luckily, this app provided itself a recycle bin that may allow you to restore the recent deleted file. think before you delete it completely out of your phone system.
Deleting apps frees more memory (depends on the size of apps you deleted.)

meron na po ba tayong rooting process para sa cherry mobile flare j3 plus? any certain twrp or cwm? gusto ko sanang mag root ehh kaso walang working na one click root, kay gusto ko sana mag try via adb process. prob naman is wala akong makitang certain twrp or cwm para sa cherry mobile flare j3 plus..thanks sa makakapag bigay ng any information about this comment..
