What is this?
This is Bump! A new and easy way to sign boot images for most modern LG phones so they'll boot on any locked phone.
Bump an image once, and flash it to however many phones you please.
Click to collapse
How does this work?
Simply create an account on the site, click "Bump!", upload the boot/recovery images (also known incorrectly as 'kernels') and the service will automatically Bump them for you.

Click to collapse
Is this project open source?
No, this project is not open source. We are however an "open" project, as we are all for transparency and user discussion. With that in mind, we'll be participating in user discussions and providing bugfixes and changelogs when possible.

Who made this?
Team Codefire, of course!
Bump would not be possible without the help and support of many people.
Please consider donating something to the people listed below to help them to continue to support your LG phone and to show your appreciation of all the hours they've put into this awesome unlock!
@thecubed - Paypal Donate - That'd be weird if I wrote something nice about myself here
@Shelnutt2 - Paypal Donate - This guy nearly single-handedly wrote the entire Bump site in a few days, and was stuck waiting for me to be around before we could test. He's awesome.
@IllegalArgument - Paypal Donate - Special thanks here, IllegalArgument really helped out and brought us across the finish line here. It's safe to say that we have the unlock today because of him - show him some love!
@autoprime - Paypal Donate - Generally awesome. Always helpful, always willing to test things, and a great guy to have on the team!
@AnimatronicRocketReptile - Paypal Donate - Crypto help, thanks!
@Dees_Troy - Paypal Donate - For building all these TWRP images for us, thanks so much!

I'm just a user, do I need this?
Most likely not. If you're just flashing ROMs, this is a tool for developers only. There is no need to Bump ROMs yourself if you're not editing anything in the kernel, recovery, or ramdisk.

How do I know if something is Bump'd?
Look for the word "signed" or "bumped" in the filename. We will create a new section of the site soon that allows you to verify that a file is bumped soon enough.

Let the bumping begin
Thanks team codefire you guys are awesome

@thecubed @autoprime
U guys ROCKED .... still debating between G3 or Note 4 for me.

Great news!!! Thank you!!

Thank you guys so much. Just Rooted and Bumped today. Waiting for something sick to flash. Thanks again! You guys are awesome.

Should I be able to take this ROM, from the Tmobile G3:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-lg-g3/orig-development/rom-cyanogenmod-11-0-t2876156
Sign it, then flash on my AT&T variant?

So now we can have ROM's bumped - are we limited to only D850 ROMs or is there some compatibility outside of that? I'm ready to load CM11 on my device at this point. I don't mind the LG skinning but just by disabling the installed AT&T apps and disabling other LG-esque apps you can free up a GIG of RAM. I'd love to see a slim ROM fly on this device.

I would think that you should always stick to ROMs intended for your device, including any indicated for all variants. ROMs for other models will likely have kernels that are not intended for the D850.
D850 specific ROMs will start popping up shortly.

Since I'm not a programmer I will agree with your assessment czucker. I realize that different devices / different kernels are out there. What I didn't know was wither or not there was specific bits that differentiate the T-Mobile builds from the AT&T ones. Meaning, would the only change necessary be the APN?

My advice, NEVER flash anything that isn't intended for the D850. If something happens people on here may not be able to save you. Personally it's not worth the risk. Just WAIT... Roms will be coming in.

Over at thr tmo forums they are saying it should work. Anyone else brave enough? Theres really no need for another person to compile if it can be a unified build.

I really wish we could get a developer to chime in on this "development thread" rather than just throwing speculation out in to thin air. Clearly some devs have managed to get roms going with a unified build on "same-hardware" devices. One example is the Galaxy S4.. every device was exactly the same apart from the cellular modem (which you don't flash anyway with the OS image). And, the recent MIUI v5 build for our G3.
I'm just trying to open this topic up for anyone adventerous enough because clearly it has worked on many other devices.. and will probably with ours as well.

After Bumping an image would we have to zip it?

Me either. There are carrier specific/TMO specific files, even though the hardware/TMO G3 will unlock and work on ATT. Patience is a good thing.
But heck, someone's always ginny pigging about, go ahead and let us know.

D855 ROMs will not work on D850. Some slight differences. Even with Bump!ed kernel. There is a D850 CM ROM now though
Save yourself the headache and take the advice that was already given, just use what is made for your device unless you want to waste more hours repairing what you broke.
Thanks for Bump! Who doubted you guys????

I thought Tmobile was a D851, not D855. Correct me if I'm wrong?

You really seem like you want to go for it ..... I honestly wouldn't and I have flashed a crap ton of stuff .. Hence my name .... Just stick with what's for your d850 .... But them again if your as stubborn as some other people go ahead and try it .. I will wish you all the luck and heck maybe it will work or maybe it will die by fire..... Who knows .... Good luck

[Q] Does BlackJelly Rom work on Verizon S3?

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1883845
does this rom work with the verizon s3? I could not find it in Verizon thread. The ROM looks great so far.
No. Do not flash ROMs from other carriers on your phone. It WILL result in a brick.
Covered many times...please search next time.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2
It actually wouldnt brick your device as the rom doesnt flash any radios. It might not boot, but it wouldnt brick it. The ATT version of the rom (which is based off the tmo leak) works unmodified (kernel and all) with the tmo version. I have a version in both the ATT and TMO forums and the rom is exactly the same except for the model number in the build.prop. However, I'm not sure it will work on the CDMA variant.

Like what graffixnyc said, the only differences are in the build.prop. Just add the CDMA specific values to the build.prop in BlackJelly (be sure to remove the GSM stuff). Also, take the apns-conf.xml from one of our ROMs like Synergy or CleanROM and replace the one in BlackJelly. That should get you booting.

I'd say just stay away from the ROMs in the i9300 forums. But even those wouldn't give you a hard brick. I know...I've purposely tried to do it by installing Omega and Foxhound.
Thank you for clarifying guys.

Even so I'd be really careful saying that. Someone may read that and think it's fine to flash stuff from other threads while in fact it is really dangerous. The OP only has a few posts so this may apply to him too (no offense, there are some people who read on here all the time and just don't bother with an account until they need to, I'm just sayin)
Hey guys,
I just ported over the BlackJelly ROM the OP requested and will be posting it here for people to use. Since I am pretty much caught up in other projects, both IRL and on XDA (AOSP), this ROM won't be receiving much support as I'd like to give it so I welcome anyone to take the port and make it better. And please, no smartass comments like this:

Don't let the haters win. If other people want to complain because you released a better product then them then so be it. Android is open source for a reason and you made something that's amazing and I for one really appreciate it. Maybe the haters should get back in the kitchen and try to release something that even comes close to this. Keep up the good work and thanks a lot.

"If other people want to complain because you released a better product then them then so be it." Like... seriously? Read the #1 rule of XDA:
1. Search before posting.
Use one of our search functions before posting, whether you have a question or something new to share, it's very likely someone already asked that question or shared that news.

HOWEVER, if you do want me to support it fully by abandoning other XDA projects and provide updates on the original developer's behalf, let me know. Of course, I will only provide full support if graffixnyc is okay with me doing it.
The build WILL most likely have bugs, some major, some minor, but that is for everyone to fix. I think this will be a good learning tool as well. Oh and if you already weren't aware, you can use kernels from the other carriers. AFAIK, the kernels are common among all carriers (not including the international kernels) so flash away!
Before we get to the download link, MAJOR props and thanks to graffixnyc for BlackJelly ROM. It's great!

I imagine you changed the update-script in it then. The partition difference would brick you for sure. I know several of the two and a half bagillion people that hard bricked did it with omega specifically. And why would you try to brick these. Unless you have a jtag setup or something i don't see the point

I didn't change them. I may have been lucky or something, but I kept the ROM as is and installed it and didn't end up with a hard brick. Regardless, moral of the story is to stay away from i9300 ROMs unless someone makes a successful port.
I was trying to brick the phone for testing purposes.

We are dedicated to fast, stable, and feature-filled roms, honesty and communication with our users, and openness with our code. We like frequent builds, with the very latest and greatest hardware support and fixes. We strive to not only provide you with the best rom we can build, but also to give back to the Android community and our fellow developers. For us, this is about creating something we can be proud of and hope you will enjoy.
Please feel free to look at, build, and use our code on CarbonDev GitHub.
We would like to thank CyanogenMod for their device trees, framework/settings mods and their code that was incorporated into this project. We also extend our gratitude to the devs whose code that we have incorporated. Proper authorship has been maintained and can be viewed on our repository.
Special thanks also go to Slim Rom for some of their features, PA, AOKP, and anyone else we may have borrowed commits from that hasn't been mentioned here. If you feel you have been unfairly left out, please - let us know.
While we make every effort to test these builds as much as possible, we are not responsible for anything that may happen to your device, family, pets, or perception of reality. We ask that you do your part to know your device and know how to recover from problems before you flash! If you have questions, ask your fellow users or ask us in #teamcarbon on freenode IRC.
Features
Simply stated, we can't really list features here. There are too many and they change too frequently, and we now support a truly insane number of devices. Chances are, if you like a feature, we have it already. Seriously.

We spend an astonishing amount of time developing this software. We can't spend much time on XDA as a result, so if you need support, please try the following:
1) Search. Search, search, search. Yes, you. I don't care how unique or important your question is, it's very likely someone has adressed it already. Especially if you're even close to new at this.
2) Read our FAQ, which can be found on our goo.im page linked above. It's new, but expanding fast. Just like us!
3) Ask a question in your device forum. Someone will no doubt try to help you. Warning: this help may come in the form of telling you it's a dumb question that has been asked before. See step 1 - such are the perils of asking questions when you haven't done the research yourself. Android is about helping yourself.
4) Join our G+ Community: http://community.carbon-rom.com This is where we spend the bulk of our time and the best way to reach us and other community members. We update and frequent this community far more than XDA, simply due to time constraints and the convenience of G+.
5) Ask a question on our IRC channel. Connect to #teamcarbon on irc.freenode.net or click here. You'll find several other Carbon fans and usually one or more devs as well. Please be polite.

I did manage to get it to boot after a fresh install on system 3 but since wifi wasn't working, I rebooted the phone. Unfortunately, everytime I go to system 3, it's stuck at the black screen.
Haven't heard from any of the other guys who have installed it, so I'm not sure if that's just a problem with me or someone else is having it too.
Appreciate your help and concern. Back to MoKee for now.
i cant turn on wifi, even reboot three times.

Have you installed it on system 1? I have this feeling that I'm having this problem because I've installed it on system 3.

Yes I've noticed this as well. I dunno how u had issues at first. Mine booted and rebooted fine on system 3 coming from MoKee and JBX. Beautiful work here man! Love it so far. Only issue is what's quoted and I kinda noticed a bit ruff on the vibration, as I type this I notice vibrate is feeling maxed out lol. Hands are tingling lmao! Great work man! Keep it up!

Couple of additions that would make this ROM even better are - fixing the Halo ofcourse, pop-up installation and uninstallation windows (like in MoKee) and ofcourse kernel additions for OC and better support for 4.3. Great work so far!

So in short, halo is what needs attention.. And as for pop up installation, I think that comes when you change dpi? I don't use this rom on a regular basis..

WARNING: FLASH AT YOUR OWN RISK
As always I am not responsible for any damage you do to your device.
This is for folks to explore at this point and possible develop any root and/or bootloader exploits. Of course if you have an emergency this might be nice to have too.
This should ideally recover your phone back to stock, however, it is unlikely that this will reset any counters, e-fuses, and/or q-fuses that may trip due to tinkering with the phone.

Any reason you say don't flash odin yet? Any question of the validity of the file, or just cautioning not to do something if you don't need to?

Just a caution at this point. I guess I can remove that, however, I was going to let folks poke around the files first.
Root baby....root!!!
Show them what you got XDA developers!
Next steps for those who are going to try to find a root method:
1. Download tar
2. Find start addresses and offsets
3. Analyze with your favorite analysis program
4. Check for kernel source
5. Check if kernel is patched for all known vulnerabilities
6. Start irc channel for galaxy s5
7. Gather devs with S5 and discuss possible methods of attaining root

Thank you for outlining this as I wouldn't even know where to start.
Having said that - we have a channel on freenode: http://webchat.freenode.net/ - #SGS5
Any guides to get me started on looking at addresses and offsets. I know I am capable, just have to learn what I am looking for and what tool to use (Windows preferably). I am guessing that we are looking for empty space in the memory that can be written to?
A few of the devs I know who could crack this don't want anything to do with a Verizon SGS5. The advice I get is go buy an dev or unlocked version. I can't necessarily blame them as they get crapped on when they put lots of work into something like this. Especially with little to no payout.

Yeah we've run into a similar situation over in the VZW s4 section. We're still fighting to find a bootloader workaround and a root method for the impending kitkat ota. Figured you guys might as well get started lol. I posted how to find start addresses in the op here

Just what I was thinking!
Very excited to see what turns out. I have no developing background but am desperately in need of root. Moral support being sent your way :good:
Root and Recovery
I have very little experience rooting devices. This I was hoping to make my first. The download booster along with the camera were major selling points but Big Red removed the download booster. I was able to find the download booster through an alternate launcher, but can't change the mobile network type to get it to function.
Hopefully there will be a root so I can use the tethering and use the download booster.
Why in hell was this moved to general ?
It is the very first step in making a rom, rooting, or finding a way to weasel in a boot method.
It is everything to do with development, and nothing to do with general.
noob mods.

I moved the thread some time ago, as I personally do not believe uploading of stock firmware is development. I personally feel all stock firmware should be maintained in a single thread in general.
This "noob mod" has rooted or unlocked (as in found the vulnerabilities and written the exploit, not just running someone else's exploit) more devices than anyone in this thread, and most people in this community.
Pretty sure I know what the first steps are in researching and developing exploits, probably more so than anyone posting here.
This kind of insult and behavior is one of the reasons people with the ability to develop these exploits are stepping away from doing so publicly. Continuing this kind of behavior, were going to start ending up with fewer and fewer people willing to work on such projects.
Good luck on your endeavor.

Please talk to your Devs again...since the payout (even though I know all won't, but I would still expect 75%) is now almost $9,000 to find root...and I'm sure no one would crap on them for this!

Custom ROM and Kernel

A9 owners speak up!! This is for all A9 owners and would be A9 owners who would love to see development of AOSP and CM based ROMS. GPE port from the M8 and any other ROMS. As well custom Kernels like ElementalX. Thanks to @jcase we have S-off, modified boot image for disabling forced encryption and allowing root and @Chainfire we have SuperSu and @Captain_Throwback and @Dees_Troy we have TWRP. A million thanks to all involved in the development so far. I would just love to get a feel for how many users out there are waiting for and would help support the development of custom ROMS and kernels! Let the wishful thinking be heard :good:
Also love to hear from developers! Progress, status updates etc etc
UPDATE: First ROM is now here! Thanks to @Captain_Throwback Located here!!! http://forum.xda-developers.com/one...9-base-roms-recovery-flashable-t3282335/page4
I wil definitly would love some customs kernel
I am waiting for this from Beginning. Can not wait anymore. .
:laugh::good:
Thanks
Okkkayy!! So I knew the fan base for this device was low compared to say the M7 and M8 but didn't realize it was this low Expected to hear WAY more than this!!
I've been waiting as well.

Well, one thing I don't like is that it now requires your pattern or pin to unlock the device after a reboot where as before after a reboot it would unlock with the just the finger print reader It can now read the new 6.0.1 emoji-cons but still cant send them. They just don't show up in the keyboard. I want to pop my verizon SIM into it and see if anything changed there. Still testing otherwise. Haven't noticed that much else.

Soo, no changes on verizon.. Still shows LTE logo with no bars and LTE data works but to voice or text. With AT&T however, VoLTE seems to now be working on all calls, not just other users on AT&T on iPhone 6's and 6s's which is very exciting!! LTE works during all phone calls.. See screen shots.
What about a bounty for a custom rom ?
Why do you think we are here on XDA?!?! Of course we want custom Roms and Kernels!!!!
Thanks

I thought I was the OP of the A9 TWRP thread, not @Dees_Troy?
(or course without him, we wouldn't have TWRP at all)
I'm surprised there aren't at least any stock rooted ROMs floating around the Development forum. I did post one earlier today in someone else's thread, but I'm not sure how much exposure that's going to get. As far as AOSP ROMs go, the good thing is that there is a bit less Sense on the A9 than on previous devices (more like a GPE device), so hopefully that'll make porting CM to it less cumbersome.

Yes, of course!! my bad. Its why I have the little thing at the end that says (thanks to "all" involved in the development so far) not trying to take credit from anyone!!
Yes, I definitely appreciate the more stock google look and feel of the A9 but its no substitute for a pure GPE or CM ROM!
