[Q] Asus Memo Pad 10 (ME102a) Android 4.2.2 -- How to downgrade to 4.1 - General Questions and Answers

Hi all,
I have Asus Memo Pad 10 (ME102a) currently with Android 4.2.2 with kernal version ww_3.11.0.99#1
problem
My tablet was working fine up to last week. I had for some reason delayed updating the system update available from Asus. Recently I went ahead with the system updates and now I am stuck with my wifi not connecting.
My wifi currently scans and detects wifi. When I try to connect to open or secured wifi the signal strength drops and the wifi is not able to connect. I have tried it with different routers as well as tried using static IP. I have tired restarting, factory wipe but no go.
Asus Customer Support
They have told me it is a software issue and i would have to wait for the next update. Asus doesn't know when the next update is coming. They said I would have to sent it to them to downgrade it. The tablet was purchased in the USA and I am currently overseas and trying to get this issue resolved.
So far I have done the following
I have rooted my tablet and have super user access.
I have installed CWM recovery
I have found the original kernal file from Asus UL-K00F-WW-3.9.0.82-user
I can't do the following
I tried installing the original kernal file UL-K00F-WW-3.9.0.82-user but the installation keeps on getting aborted. (I think the loader doesn't allow it install) ---- Do I need to unlock the bootloader if so how??? I have tried to unlock the bootloader but I haven't been able to.
If someone knows any other way to fix this issue please share.
Thanks to all in advance

[Q] TF300TG bricked after JB update

Hi everybody,
I need your help
I have a TF300TG
I tried to update to JB firmware but I took the wrong one (the one for the TF300T)
once it was done, I got no wifi and no 3G.
so I decided to apply the last 4.0.1 firmware.
then I got back the wifi but no 3G but it was still in 4.1 ...
I wanted to apply the right firmware in 4.1 for the TF300TG but I get the dead logo of android...
I wanted to downgrade but it wont let me do it because when I want to unlock the tablet with the asus software, I get an error message telling me that something went wrong ...
and when I try to do the "on line" update straight from my tablet, it says that something wrong happend...
so any idea ?
thanks
SOLVED with this method:
fastboot -i 0x0B05 flash system blob
because I was already in JB 4.1 (firmware 10.3.2.X WW TF300TG)
I had to use the 10.4.3.7 firmware from asus
and it worked
So it possible to have working wi-fi and 3G on TF 300TG after flashing JB rom ?
-
i am on that rom now ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1901784 )
so i have not 3g and want to back it work ( from ICS rom or anothe possible road )

[Q] Acer Iconia A1-810 Downgrade?

I recently updated to 4.4 Kitkat on my Acer tablet. I've been wanting to root my tablet for a long time but never found a tutorial. Well, just as my luck would have it, after I update to 4.4 I find this tutorial: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2240029
I read a reply in that thread stating that the Acer Toolkit doesn't work with 4.4 because Acer patched it or something. So I was wondering if there is any way I can downgrade my tablet or even root 4.4?

HI
You can't downgrade, since the update also bring an new bootloader, so flashing an system.img of your older Ro (JB4.2) wont work.
Also since your bootloader is LOCKED, there's nothing you can do right now , sorry.
With an MTK UNlocked bootloader, that would be possible...

Still not possible?
Hi,
I just found this thread whilst searching for instructions on rooting my A1-810 and I was wondering is it still not possible if the kitkat update has been applied?
I just flashed my A1-810 from JB (4.2 I believe) to the latest KitKat version available on Acer's support website (Acer.AV0K0.A1-810.RV0BRC05.PA.CA, just released on 11/06/14) and now my unit is stuck in a boot loop.
I've tried wiping cache/factory reset, and reflashing the same update to no avail. Downgrading to any previous version is not possible (due to bootloader update from KitKat update I presume) and all I get is a assert failed: getprop("ro.product.name") == "a1-810_pa_ca" error when trying to do so).
I hadn't realized just how recent this update was (seeing as they just posted it last week) and am assuming it is due to an issue with the update itself (and Acer's shotty programming).
Anyone have any suggestions on how I might be able to fix this issue? Sad that a year old tablet is now a paper weight due to a SOFTWARE UPDATE FROM THE MANUFACTURER.
Update: Fixed it!!
After speaking with Acer support, trying to re-flash their image multiple times, and having them tell me that my year old tablet (with warranty ending this past July) would cost $110 to fix (due to THEIR software update), and after being advised NOT TO by their support team, I decided to try and flash the unit myself with a different bootloader.
I basically followed the guide at: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...3&postcount=53
and downloaded the A1-810 files and Drivers package from there as well.
Then my unit managed to get past the reboot loop and boot into KK successfully!
CWM didn`t actually install, but there is a note at the bottom of the link regarding that, but I`m not going to bother for now as I am more than happy to have a working tablet again!
Hope this helps anyone else!

Asus Android 11 Beta semi-bricked my phone - Urgent help needed

My phone is pretty much bricked. I cannot do anything with it.
So I installed the new update & now my phone keeps resetting to "No service" every second, then going to my Local carrier Telstra (Australia) 5 bars of reception, then resetting to "No service" again every second and repeats this non-stop.
On top of this, phone overheats so much and when I try to turn off the phone, it turns right back on again!
I can no longer call, message, use my data. I urgently need my phone back for work tomorrow morning.
com.android.phone keeps stopping error also appears at the start when I boot up my phone.
Before the update, I never had any issues.
So I guess the only way for me to fix my phone is to revert back to original asus stock firmware?
Ive tried asus own asus recovery using power button and volume up:
ive tried putting update.zip inside internal storage, but mount sdcard error shows up.
so, i try adb method, works and starts flashing and then.. it says the update.zip is older than the current firmware, and stops it halfway.
what are my options/how I can return to the stock original global rom from this nightmare android 11 beta to android 10 firmware? i have the official asus android 10 firmware already and unlocked bootloader..
try flash raw firmware you can find in google. tries to flash raw firmware. you can find it on google i think. Use the file flashall_AFT.cmd
when i google raw firmware, this shows up the drivers and firmware from official asus zenhelp shows up.
is this correct? i have downloaded it, however not clear as to what steps and additional programs are needed from here.

Do you know if ZS670KS (Zenfone 7) raw firmware works on ZS671KS (Zenfone 7 Pro)? I have the Pro maybe the post author too
Hey OP, where did you purchase it from? I'm from Australia too and just got my Zenfone 7 Pro delivered. And how did you receive the Android 11 update? OTA? I'm reluctant to OTA update as the last one on a new Zenfone 6 I bought bricked it too!

ASUS Tablet ME302KL: Any way in 2021 to update android 4.2.2 to android >5 (unlock bootloader? Then: twrp? custom-rom?)

Hello guys,
I'm new:
In 2013 I bought an ASUS Memo Pad FHD 10 (ME302KL). Although I never really often used it, today while the Corona-crisis I need it for teaching. Therefore I wanted to upgrade the OS (actually Android 4.2.2) because most apps don't work with it anymore. I read a lot in the Internet about this topic (no official OS Asus-Update, installing Custom-Rom, TWRP and unlock bootloader, ... )
I'm completely novice but I wanted to try because I think this tablet is not too old for my wanted usage.
My first problem is to unlock the bootloader (I hope after solving this problem, it's straigt forward (twrp, custom-rom), rooting the device is easy; I already deleted a lot of the damn bloatware some time ago...).
I read about this: There seemed to be an official asus unlock apk some years ago which I found in www and tried. But no chance: unknown network error. I also tried oem fastboot unlock: failed.
Then I phoned the ASUS support some days ago describing the problem that I want to unlock the bootloader. Answer was: device is too old, no support for that in any way (what really made me disappointed because a) it seemed to me that up to ~2018 there still were (inofficial) ways to get it unlocked und/or updated (calling support again and again, make (mac?) adress entry somewhere, asus unlock apk seemed to work mostly, ... ) and b) the problem already seemed to arise in 2014 (just a few month after I bought it completely new) )
So my question: Is there ANY way to update it in 2021 or do I have to give up and just use it as pdf reader or display? (And never buy ASUS products again?). Do you have any experience about that or other advice?
(Does it maybe work without unlocking bootloader although I read that some guys brick it with that?)
I would even accept linux or ubuntu system (possible?), but I want to have more control about it (other devices were too old for me when they got too slow, but this one isn't. It works good except that it is not compatible with most apps..)
Thanks.

Try to research the 3 digit codes for the Ma2yo apk that supposedly updates android versions. I tried it on a 4.2.2 with a three digit code that supposedly updates android to 9.0 pie, but the app told me I entered the wrong code. Im a novice at this as well, but I have managed to use Kingoroot to gain root access to the mentioned tablet and use it as a learning tool myself. Try to use some of the apk root apps until you find one you like that will allow you to build your tablet, if you can't get it to upgrade.Happy hunting, test runs and hopefully success!
For all who have the same problem:
Yesterday I gained the most following this thread:
[HOWTO] Unlock TF700T in 2020
UPDATE: Asus has updated the servers. Older protocols for HTTPS, which are required for older Android versions, are no longer supported. Unfortunately, some additional steps are needed for the unlock now. See this post for step by step...

Problem: Device could not be unlocked (after a few minutes waiting and everything working fine up to this point), but another user seemed to unlock the ME302KL this way... :/
Think I finally got it with the link above.
