Can't reboot into recovery.... - Verizon HTC One (M8)

So where do I start... Vzw m8 4.4.4. Firmware, k.... Now I'm running latest multiboot compatible twrp. I am booted in to my main Rom... Viperone 2.5. I was running viper 3.1 on Thursday, but my phone was static-y on the other caller end. So I went to twrp, reinstalled a backup of my 2.5 and good. Well after I did that I wanted to get rid of Red Text on splash screen so I grabbed the latest of that and flashed via hboot. Done. Then... I wanted a custom splash, so I tried to flash an old 4.4.3 version of a splash and I guess that screwed things up, even though it said failed.which I figured . Fine. But now I can't get back to recovery. I tried to reflash multiboot version twrp, then latest regular tarp, then clockwork mod, and back again to tarp. And no go. So..... Any ideas anyone? Is there anyways to ruu without having to do all thousand steps through adb and such. My adv ain't working on my computer currently for some reason.....

Try flashing the 4.4.4 firmware and then TWRP again via fastboot.

Yeah, I can't really do anything on my computer with fastboot. My internet is down first of all, second... Cartoon won't recognize my device for some reason..... So.. I don't know what other options I have right now. I know I have to back up phone and ad first of all.

K2u_4.2.2 stock / tool for root

After searching I found and tried this tool, requires S-OFF.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1870652 ..... my phone rooted, (just hit -"Root Device").
I'm on stock 4.2.2 stock recovery etc, I have flashes the xpirt's Stock Modded Kernel.
This worked for me K2u (possibly for the other versions), try at your own risk.
Nice tool. Though, I would prefer to flash supersu manually vice something like this. This way I am fully aware of what is taking place, but this is my personal preference.
However, this is a nice find so thank you for sharing it here.

Not sure if you've noticed here in the forums but, custom recoverys aren't paying nice with guys that have updated to 4.2.2
Some of them had an updated Hboot inside their OTA.
This is why he has posted this I'm sure.
Just so your on the same page.
Ah, was unaware of this issue. Thanks for updating me.

Your welcome sir.
Yes, should be downgrade from hboot 2.21 to hboot 2.0 to be able to flash recovery
and do not want that.
Hmmm, now that you mention it, I do recall see @old.splatterhand giving a warning about him having to downgrade the hboot.... Sorry, don't have 4.2.2 yet, but I wonder once custom recovery is flashed if going back to 2.21 is safe? Personally, I wouldn't know at this time.

ERROR 7

Hi.
I have problem ERROR 7. I try flash some ROMS, and last flash crashed and write ERROR 7. I found some solutions, but every time you need copy some files to memory on phome. BUT.. my System doesnt start, then I have no chance to copy files to phone. When system start, every time go to recovery
How can i fix it?
PLS help Mi..
THX..
If I'm right, error 7 is an issue with the updater-script. Try redownloading the ROM, because it could be a bad download, but if it still doesn't work, switch recoveries

If you were trying to flash KitKat without CWM 6.0.4.3 or a wrong ROM for your phone you'll get this message.. It is generally due to the updater script..
What phone do you have, and what rom were you installing?

[Q] Is S-OFF required for custom recoveries/ROMs?

I just got my device today and rooted with WeakSauce. As expected, firewater failed. I am wonder if I need to have S-OFF in order to flash TWRP and/or some custom ROMs. If I don't need it, I'd rather save the $25 that I'd have to spend on SunShine.

How do you install a recovery with weakauce root only? That would be new to me
Edit. You either need s-off or s-on with unlocked bootloader. An you need s-off on HTC VZW m8 to unlock bootloader ..

Thanks for clearing that up. Been a while for me. Just got my M8 and last time I had to root was on my DNA when VZ still let us unlock the bootloader.

Proper upgrade path

Sorry for the noobish question that I should know, but it's been a while since I've used an HD.
I picked up a used HD on 9.18.94. Can I simply sideload 183.46.10 and run the bootloader unlock? My first goal is the bootloader then I can flash root and unlock the radios so my wife can use it on ATT

Pre Rooted phone

Just received a replacement phone from Amazon. It has a Viper Rom wallpaper (default). Is it possible this phone could have been rooted and unlocked before and Verizon didn't catch it? If so can it be re-rooted easily? Root checker app says it's not rooted.
