Can't change screen lock security - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I had it on slide at first, but the first time I changed it to pattern, I can't change it back.
and no i haven't encrypted my phone. How can I make it selectable again?

did you add any VPN or exchange settings? in that case you cannot disable lockscreen security anymore.
but there is hope: enter the wrong passphrase often enough to be able to unlock via google account passworf. after that, lockscreen security is disabled

PIN Lock & Standard Lockscreen used together

I want to use a PIN (and need to really for my work email exchange account) - how can I also use the standard CM11S lockscreen with it?
The idea being to slide that down, and then get the PIN screen pop up?
I cannot see an option or combination for it in the default settings, so any ideas?
I'm rooted and TWRP'd up, so happy to flash a mod if anyone can suggest one?
When you select PIN you enter the PIN first and then the screen automatically slides down.

Yeah I just want to see the standard lockscreen first, then enter the PIN, so that I get the equaliser and camera widget etc.
Right now I just get the plain old PIN entry screen when I turn the screen on, I found the minimise pin entry button, but that just gives the padlock icon at the bottom of the screen to drag up which isn't very cool!
I actually don't think you can edit that. I know there is an Xposed Module that allows you to have the quick circle, and THEN your password/pin/pattern, but that is for the stock Android lockscreen and not CM11s lockscreen, so I would assume that won't work. The lockscreens are the most difficult things to customize for whatever reason.

Did you ever find a way to do that?
Sorry, I know this is an old thread and all, but this is exactly what I'm looking for.

It seems they've changed quite a bit in the lockscreen; there still isn't an option to do what we want though.
Oh well, can't have it all I guess.
Indeed, but what i hope is with android L they will update the lockscreen to have notifications built in and allow a secure lockscreen with their design, that would be ace ! :victory:

[Q] Lollipop Locked Screen

HI there,
Upgraded my Z3 to lollipop 2 days ago and, from all things that are currently annoying me, the new lock screen is, by far, the best (or worst).
There are two things that I can´t get along:
First, even while locked, you might swipe your finger down and get access to a menu with wifi, bluetooth and other switches (including airplane mode), being able to disable communications completely without a password. I find that disturbing, not to say a vulnerability. Is there a way of completely disabling this menu while locked? I do not want to root the phone.
The other thing is the act of unlocking the phone itself. Before lollipop, It would take 2 taps, a password and the enter (ok). Now, they introduced a swipe up to reveal the dialpad, so I can enter the PIN. Is it possible to change this? I want to be able to unlock it faster... also without having to root it...
Thanks in advance!
For your second point about quick access to the homescreen change the lockscreen to just swipe in security settings
With just swipe is the same, and you can acces also Settings and that' s not so good.

Again, not true.
I have it set to just swipe, and when I swipe I go straight to my homescreen, no dialpad for a PIN or dots for a pattern.
However, initially I had to have either a pattern or a pin. To disable this just remove all credentials. I had none before I upgraded but after upgrade I had to clear them in order to be able to have the option for just swipe on the screen lock

I have it set to Just Swipe and I can acces all from notification bar.
I think we are talking at cross purposes here, apologies for the confusion, I will edit my original post
Yes, you can access the notification bar from the lockscreen no matter what the options for screen lock are.
I was replying about the second point, which was that he has to swipe the lockscreen AND use a PW/PIN to get to the homescreen.
Yes, I just realized. Sorry too for the confusion.
At least it' s all clear now for everyone.
His post had two points, one about notification bar and a swipe to unlock.
All good now, as I confirmed that the notification bar is not so secure.
Hi there!
Thanks, but swiping is not an option... The device is encrypted, so I have only the PIN and password options, unfortunately...

I cleared the credentials but both Exchange accounts stopped working. They gave me password errors... had to remove and reconfigure the accounts. Maybe that´s because of some server side security policy... unfortunately.

Disable pin to unlock with emui 3.1

Hi,
On my h60-l12 after adding a vpn connection I was forced to set up a pin for screen unlock.
Now I have deleted the vpn configuration but I cannot disable pin because the option to set "none" as security mechanism to unlock is disabled.
How can I remove pin protection under emui 3.1 ?
Regards

Sorry auto-quote.
The problem was the app F5 big-ip edge client that was installed on my device but without any vpn connection configured.
After uninstalling this app I managed to disable pin security.

Hi, change your lock password to pattern, then for 5 times you make wrong pattern
then it'll ask for back up pin, you just enter that backup pin which you set while on setting pattern
then your device is free from lock
Haven't tried but this is a tutorial on how to unlock password or reset your Honor 6
Sorry if I misunderstood the problem.
you saved my day, thanks!

Fingerprint unlock problem

With latest firmware (G930FXXU1APD1-G930FDBT1APC5-DBT) Im having problems when unlocking the device with fingerprint. It does not allow me, but instead I get:
“Enter pin instead of using fingerprint recognition because of security policy”
And I have to use the PIN.
This happens when locking the display with “lock wedged”. If the lock is made with button (power) ... or time out display. Then I can normally use the fingerprint.
Does someone also facing the problem?
Is there any solution – setting?
Best.
D.
Yes i had this and tried to reset my fingerprints when i tried that settings error and closed, then i couldnt change anything, pin, fingerprints, couldnt even factory reset. Cause it always asked for my pin and after i entered it settings would error rebooting didnt help. Finally using android device manager from my pc i had to do an erase. My s7 is stock and it had nothing disable at the time this happen.

there might be extra Policy set on ur device.
go to setting > Security > click on Clear Credentials
+ also check what is ur device administrator
:good:
I had that even on my Nexus 6P when using Nova's double tap to lock feature. I think it's something to do with Marshmallow actually.

Clear credentials is not active.
Device Admin - APP is added.
So the error is still there.

You can try Samsung's Good Lock app from Galaxy Apps store or, if you live outside U.S., from apkmirror.com. It's a System UI update that allows fingerprint unlock with third party locking widgets.
@ avah
This actually works. But ... then I get totally different lock screen display etc... that I actually don’t like.
So ... till now ... no real solution.
Best.
Hay
Question.
Is it possible to flash the phone back to previous ROM version via Odin… and you won’t get Knox void .. or something else??
I'm thinking to go back to previous ROM when lock and fingerprint worked OK.
Best

This is a duplicate of: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s7/help/security-policy-prevents-fingerprint-t3354270
You can find details on that thread about this problem.
I'm having the same issue and I must say it is very annoying. Can't really see any reason why this should interfere with the security. Should be my choice to be honest. Would be nice to have a solution to this. Looks like it's been an issue for a long time as well. Found some threads about the 6P for example with the same issue.
Try use other app to pass that policy: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.luutinhit.doubletapscreenoff

Yes but the problem still remains so it was a good initiative. I've got a brand new S7 and I find this very annoying. If I switch off my screen with Nova, I have to use fingerprint+PIN Code to unlock. If I switch it with physical buttons, I only have to use fingerprints..
Fixed
Search 4 knock on app on playstore.
Instal
Tap on create icon. Turn off the rest options

Normaly You have toggle quick settings always. It works evean lock screen is on. Wi-fi, bluetooth need pin to disable on lockscreen, but 3g data or flymode work wthout pin. So if somone stol my phone, i cant track him.

Good point! But it would be also nice to disable turn off or restart.
But I guess volume down + power button will always work. How iPhone deals with this kind of situation?

IPhone has icloud activation lock, if the phone is registered to someone's account and you steal it and format it when going through setup it asks for the owners icloud details and won't move on from that

The question here is there anyway to keep the phone alive so you can track it as far as the battery goes. No way to shut it down or turn data and wifi off.

How about changing the lock screen with another lock screen app that disables quick settings? Next is one. Credit this post.
Samsung's Good Lock app (which replaces the stock lock screen) requires a PIN entry to change any of the quick toggles when the screen is locked.
