save as what? a backup for restoring after a factory reset? (apps like helium or titanium backup will help)
or just to make them stay between reboots? (that's not neccesary as the app data should be saved by default)
please explain a little deeper

Yep as a backup for restoring.
Which files do I have to backup with titanium to be able to restore my homescreen?

Hi, some one can help me ?? I need to remove system app from my HTC incredible, how can I do that ?? Thanks.

Download root explorer. Navigate to system/app and all of the system apps are going to be there. I'd advise moving the app to your sd card instead of straight up deleting it incase you want it later.

Open Titanium Backup, select "Backup/Restore" (at the top), scroll down to the app you wish to remove, select it, select "Un-install".
Job done

Try this. Found a reference to it the other day on another forum because I wanted to remove Google Books from my phone. Works like a charm, easy, fast, and effective.

yes as jimbo said go to backup restore menu and select the app you wanna uninstall if you press on one app a menu will pop-up choose what you wanna do
Titanium Backup Pro (paid version) also lets you to freeze the app, in case you need it later. For system it's like unninstalling.
But using Titanium Backup, you must have root. Like the deleting with Root Explorer

The fix simply goes as follows:
1- Root your device
2- Download Root Explorer (great app) or such
3- Mount / as R/W
4- Browse to /data/clipboard, mark delete all that's there
5- Head over to your applications, and find a service called TestService, and clear its data
6- Reboot your device and enjoy
Note: i made the deletion from "file manager" and i opened TestService through Titanium Backup.

Thank you for this post. It REALLY WORKS!!! :highfive:
Is it safe to remove the following apps that come with CM10:
Google Play Music
Apollo
Browser
News & Weather
Talk
Google Search
Terminal Emulator
You could make a nandroid backup and try, any problems restore the backup or flash the rom and gapps again
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
Removing ROM Manager and News and Weather is always the first thing I do after flashing CM, so I know you are good for removing News & Weather.
I'm pretty confident you are cool to remove any of the Google apps as those are optional anyways.
Browser is probably OK
Not sure about Apollo but knowing CM I would think it would be fine.
I'm also pretty sure that you can remove terminal emulator but I'd never even considered removing it.
You'll have to remove them again and again after every flash. I suggest you do not remove them, but freeze them. That is what I do.

What mean freeze an app?
Use Titanium Backup ( on the play store ) to "Freeze " unwanted apps. Official Site Link
Freezing is only available with the PRO/Donate version. It makes the application unavailable to the system without deleting it. If your phone starts with some strange behavior, you can simply “defrost” the frozen application, and everything should be fine again.

Very handy tool to have when using ROM's
Titanium Backup is the most powerful backup tool on Android, and then some.
You can backup, restore, freeze (with Pro) your apps + data + Market links. This includes all protected apps & system apps, plus external data on your SD card. You can do 0-click batch & scheduled backups. Backups will operate without closing any apps (with Pro).

Or you can just remove them as normal. For more stuff to remove try this THREAD
Always a good idea to back up your apps before removal.

It's like turning it off permanently. In that way the apps can't start up unnecessarily and also don't appear in the app list. And if you change your mind, you can easily 'unfreeze' them. Many apps can do this: Titanium, Super manager, Rom Toolbox and others. It doesn't matter which one (or more) you use.
You can also use this for apps you don't use much: just unfreeze them when needed and freeze them again afterwards.
System apps stay frozen after a rom flash.

I have frozen all these apps except for the browser. That means they're also save to remove.

Titanium backup is the 'easy' way to go...
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.keramidas.TitaniumBackup&hl=sv
Works pretty well on most ROMS/Devices.. Depending on your device you might also use a 'Toolkit' (make a search for it).
(most solutions need root though)
Recently I was buying a Google One subscription and started to backup my phones to drive.
I saw that the backup also seems to secure application data.
Was was thrilled when I saw that. So I was expecting, when restoring a phone, that like on Apple you get most of the data back.
In fact, all I got from app restore is the app itself. No App Data was existing. I had to manually log on to each app an still then all apps where "blank" as they where freshly installed from the Store..
So what is the point of Android Backup?

You can contact the software department of your device manufacturer about this problem.
If the problem is not fixed. You can upload important files manually on google drive. Open the system files (Files), find and copy them, upload them to google drive within (Files), do the opposite to restore the backed files.
