I'm having a serious issue with PowerAmp app. My settings are getting reset to default every time the program is completely closed (either by a task manager or after a reboot). Not only that, the change log and Thank you popups come up every startup after the complete shutdown. Pls help resolve.
On contacting the Dev, he says its a UID mismatch issue and it can be solved by uninstalling and reinstalling the program. However that has not fixed the issue.

Strange, I'm using the PowerAmp app and I don't experience this. Have you tried contacting the Dev again about this?
Have you tried downloading it again and then installing it?
One possibility is that when you re-install it you are restoring corrupt settings back onto your device.
Have you tried a hard reset/factory reset then installing it again to see if it works?
It's working now. I used root explorer and navigated to the dbdata folder. Then I deleted the folder corresponding to Poweramp. Since then settings are not getting reset every time I end the app using a task manager.
None of the above works for me:
- uninstalled PowerAMP
- uninstalled PowerAMP Full Version Unlocker
- Deleted sdcard/Android/data/com.maxmpz.audioplayer directory with Super Manager
- reset the phone
- installed PowerAMP
- installed PowerAMP Full Version Unlocker
Same problem! Any ideas?

You will need a file explorer like root explorer since you are rooted. You got the wrong folder. You have to first uninstall full version. Then go to dbdata folder which is above the sdcard folder. Go to the power amp folder and delete the shared peers file. After that reinstall power amp it should be fine..
@mithunjo - you are so right! Super Manager was not it, Root Explorer did it. Thanks!

im having the same problem with power amp. however i couldnt find the folder "dbdata".i evn tried to use the search feature in root explorer to locate the folder but no use!. any suggestions?
im using sony ericsson official 2.1 firmware 0.24 and am rooted
same problem here... will try... thanks!
The dbdata folder is above the internal sdcard folder. In that delete the preferences file in the power amp folder which goes something like maxmp.player..
If you don't want to spend money for the 'Root Explorer', like me, get the 'Terminal Emulator'. It's free, and will give you a terminal interface. Open the app, press the menu button and choose the option to show the keyboard. The following commands will 1) give root permissions to the app and 2) delete the settings folder of PowerAMP:
su
rm -r /dbdata/databases/com.maxmpz.audioplayer
Thats it. The folder is gone. In my case I had to deinstall poweramp before this procedure, and reinstalled afterwards. Finally I can use PowerAmp again.
I've also had that problem (Galaxy S with Darky 8.0 (JPY) ) and deleting dbdata\databases\com.maxmpz.audioplayer helped me. I didn't even have had to uninstall and install PowerAMP.

Tried deleting only the folder with RootExplorer without uninstalling and then reinstalling PowerAMP.
I'll see if this is enough.
I have a rooted htc Inspire running CyanogenMod nightlies.
I have used RootExplorer to look for dbdata and have not been able to find it. I've been through every file with RExplorer and have also used it to search for the file. Both ways I have come up empty. Am I missing something?
And I did read the enitire thread first
Thanks for any help.

I tried downloading an app from the Google Play Store, and the app(poweramp) was only 3 MB. I sill have 0.99 GB of system storage. But market keeps insisting that I don't have enough space. Any fix?
Only poweramp has this problem, dither apparently can install fine.

Actually I had this problem too.
You have to download catlog from the google play . Keep it running .. ( don't pause it ) . Go to the market try to download the poweramp again.. Then when it shows the error again. Go back to the catlog and scroll through the logs , you should see a log like cannot create dir com.max .... ( something like that ) then search that folder and delete it from /data/data or data/app ( if u find that dir in both then delete it from both ) through a file browser like root explorer.

it works for me too thanks
I am not exactly sure how I found myself here, but I do have a thought you might wish to consider.
You can have an unlimited amount of space for storing your apps, but as long as your dalvik cache resides on your device, it has a limited amount of storage space to use, so when it fills, you will be unable to install apps from the market. Moving dalvik to an Ext4 SD-Ext partition of a size you choose, might resolve the problem.
No guarantees, just something to consider. Good luck!
http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=ziqdu0&s=6i too am having this problem, except i deleted the file and still no luck, heres a screenshot of catlog, i narrowed it down to that, but dont know where to go from there, help
Check the /data/app folder. If you have used some kind of patch, it might leave out the odex file. delete that and try installing it from the play store again.

Poweramp is an odex application. ou just have to go to the /data/app folder using root explorer and delete the com.maxmpz.... dex file that is still there even after the uninstallation. The installation should proceed just fine after that.
Wiping davilk cache will do the work
If you don't want to wipe cache/dalvik and you're trying to update simply go to settings>apps>all, find the app that you're trying to update, clear cache (data if you don't care about it,) and try to reinstall the app. Worked for me.
Also deleting your Google account, restarting, and adding it back has worked for me in the past versions of the play store. Seems like it's a problem on Google's end.

Try making it a system app. Right now its probably installed as an update to the system app, but its better if it remains by itself. This can be done in many ways. You could use Titanium Backup, or simply place the app in /system/app/ (and set the permissions).
dont work

i tryed to copy and paste it using es file explorer but it said that it failed. Any ways even if i do get past that how do i set the permissions ?
Or maybe delete the whole apk with titanium backup or a root explorer, reboot and install it again.

Titanium Backup - Select the app in the list and choose "integrate update into ROM".
Manual Way - Use Root Explorer, etc. to copy and paste the file in /system/app/. Make sure you mount it as R/W first. Using Root Explorer, long press the file and choose permissions. It should be set to "rw-r--r--".
Reboot after either of these methods.
thx

Hi, people!
I saw this post by cedricl on the Tablet S forum and worked for me. Maybe anyone of you must be trying to do the same, so I've decided to share this solution for you
How to install Phone-only apps (Like WhatsApp or Viber) on a WIFI-only Tablet?
- root your phone
- install whatsapp on your phone
- install TitaniumBackup on your phone
- with TitaniumBackup make a backup of whatsapp
- open file manager on your phone and look for TitaniumBackup folder
- take the 3 files with the whatsapp name in them and move these to your tablet s
- root your tablet
- install TitaniumBackup on your tablet
- open TitaniumBackup on your tablet
- in file manager go to TitaniumBackup folder
- move the 3 whatsapp files taken from the phone and place them in the TB folder
- open TitaniumBackup and "restore" your whatsapp*
*OBS.: First you must restore the app only, so it'll be installed on the system. Then you must restore the DATA. The data is the most important thing, because it'll reconfigure your WhatsApp the same way that it is on the phone. If you restore everything together, it'll not work.

Easier steps(the phone must be rooted):
-install whatsapp on phone.
-go to /data/app and copy the apk with whatsapp icon and transfer it to the tab.
- Install it.

Whatsapp uses a telephone number as userid/login credentials. Unfortunate. You will need to create an account using a phone first for it to work.

It will log you out, it tells you that one phone number can be used only in one app. I had to use my work phones number on tablet. If there is another workaround, I would like to know it too.

you should make an backup of WhatsApp on your Android Smartphone. It'll generate 3 files on your phone's sdcard. Get'em and copy to your tablet's sdcard. Then do these steps.
Everything is explained on my first post.
PS.: Some are saying that it'll stop it from working on the other device. Maybe you are right. But when I made this post I could use freely in both device's at the same time. The only issue was that when I was chatting over the tablet, for example, the phone wasn't receiving any messages.
These forums have been invaluable to me. You guys amaze me. If you could help with this, I would be forever grateful.
Phone: Verizon Galaxy S3, rooted, CM10.2
Problem: I have suddenly run into a problem where only some of my apps (1) do not retain any of their data after a reboot and (2) do not stay frozen (I've tried freezing with Titanium, Lucky Patcher, Root Uninstaller Pro, etc.) after rebooting (they do keep their data and remain frozen until I power my device off). ONLY the apps I installed on or after about two weeks ago have this problem (i.e. apps installed before that do not have this problem). So basically every time I reboot my phone apps installed over the last two weeks look like I've never used them (for example, a notepad app that I used extensively before rebooting shows no notes).
Solutions Attempted (without success obviously):
1.) Uninstalling problematic apps, rebooting phone and reintalling
2.) Doing a full factory reset via CWM recovery, wiping all caches, and restoring a nandroid backup that was taken before this problem arose.
Question: Is there anything that I can do to resolve this problem or do I need to get a new phone?
Thanks,
Jenna

So I tried the re-naming of the problematic apps from ,apk to .bak (and then rebooted), but the apps didn't appear in my apps list after rebooting and when I went into the google play store it showed that it was not installed -- am I doing something wrong (I used root explorer to do this)? Or is there anything else you could possibly think of to fix this problem? It's driving me crazy!
