Its almost certain that people who change ROMs do so after taking a backup of their apps using Titanium Backup...and after changing ROM, the Titanium Backup has to be downloaded again to restore apps...which is of course a pain in the a$$...So why not include Titanium Backup as a preloaded app in ALL ROMs? It should be standardized...
maybe the devs don't have permission to distribute titanium.
Titanium has a "create update.zip..." function somewhere.
create a flashable titanium zip. flash your new rom, reboot into new rom (i don't think you can flash them on top of each other), then reboot back to recovery, flash the titanium zip.
From within titanium backup you create a flashable zip. This can be flashed from recovery after flashing a ROM.
Tapatalked from a Desire S waiting for Kernel 3 sources. WAKE UP HTC!!!!!!
@ OP : You can download the latest verison apk file of Titanium backup from the official site here & keep it in the root of your SD card, before flashing a new ROM.

it's fine in case you have also file manager as a part of a ROM, not?

I think so. Never tried before since a short download from play store makes the same solution. It's installed.

Agree, but most dev's include at least ES File Explorer in their ROM's nowadays.
i don't think so. i remember seeing it in the preferences menu even before i bought Pro.

I understand your point BUT considering I don't use it I would have to uninstall it every time I re-ROM'ed my phone.
The ROM makers can not make everyone happy all the time, I'm sorry to say.

No disrespect but the needs of many outweigh the few TiBu is amazing albeit confusing but no backup app is even close

I'd rather just get titanium backup from play. I'm getting all my other apps anyway and I hardly consider one app to be a pain to download. Besides it's much easier to remove if I get it from play.

Agreed. I would rather that every custom ROM was built with absolutely NO applications - just the tweaks / settings required for the ROM to boot up and connect to the outside world. Include Google Apps and anything else as zipped add-ons that you can flash if you choose, but I have never used FaceBook or Twitter and hate having to remove them post-install.
Anyone who regularly flashes ROMs will either be happy to download the apps they want each time, will have the .apk files stored on their PC, or will have a Titanium Backup of their apps.

I prefer this way too.
Tried the way to make a flashable .zip which works fine (installed as user app) - but I prefer the fresh dl from play store.

If I'm allowed to I would like to contribute my opinion from the developer side.
First of all, at cm you can forget about the possibility, because titanium is closed source.
At aokp it's almost the same.
At other roms I guess it won't be included as well, because it isn't the only backup solution (if one is added, others want theirs to be added as well) and no dev wants to shoot into his own leg, because it is for sure handy and one of the best backup solutions out there atm, but it can cause many problems, not only when system data is restored from an incompatible version or at worst case from a different rom, also at other apps it causes fcs sometimes when they got restored with tb and the first thing many users do is to blame the rom for it before they try it clean (for sure not all).
I personally always use the built in backup solution from Google and only restore some save games with titanium.
I also agree with keeping the base as clean as possible, everything else is much user dependent and even if you find a base many users are happy with there still will be some that aren't and with keeping it clean it's fair play for anyone for my opinion.

Oops, it seems I got confused. I thought by a titanium zip, it was a backup of all your titanium backup apks. So simply flashing it will restore your apps...
I guess not, so I agree with Dan, it's pretty pointless, and it more cumbersome to remove.
Also Simon, I felt this way too during the Windows Mobile days, as there was no possible way to actually remove the apps from the ROM that the chef cooked it. I used to beg them in threads to release RIMs without apps!

The first time I had seen this option I thought so, too. But I always that it doesn't make any sense to me since I always prefer a clean install of a rom. So I never tried to make an update.zip until I read this thread.
The only time I think it makes sense to do it that way is when you have a limited data plan and don't want to keep your downloads low when you switch roms.
BTW you can install the update.zip as a user app so its easy to remove afterwards. I did that just for research and it works well. But, honestly, I won't do it in the future. As I wrote before I prefer a clean installation and download the needed apps again from the play store.

man wouldn't that be a dream tool for relentless ROM swappers eh?
create a flashable zip of all your user apps, flash new ROM, flash user apps zip, dalvik cache wipe, and you're done restoring everything. hehe
but then thats only a few clicks away from "create a flashable zip of Titanium, flash new ROM, reboot, batch restore missing user apps using Titanium, dalvik cache wipe."
i've rooted my device and i even made it S-OFF but still i can't delete system apps. After a reboot, the come up again.
Titanium backup does not give any feedback, it just seems to work.
My File Explorer says, that it fails to mount the system partition r/w.
Does anyone have an idea how to solve this problem?
How did you get S-OFF?
You need a custom kernel, which allowes r/w For the system, to solve your problem.

I did it like described here: http://www.pocketpc.ch/htc-one-mini...g-htc-dev-unlock-root-recovery-customrom.html
Actually, after the second restart everything works now...
So you are Not S-OFF?
Coz the instruction is just for the HTCdev unlock.

You can try using ROM Cleaner:

Stock kernel still has system write protection enabled.
Install jmz custom kernel to get rid of this problem:

Titanium backup is the 'easy' way to go...
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.keramidas.TitaniumBackup&hl=sv
Works pretty well on most ROMS/Devices.. Depending on your device you might also use a 'Toolkit' (make a search for it).
(most solutions need root though)
As the title mentions, I would like to know, if there is a way to save the the settings for the default luncher, including homescreen setup and so on?

save as what? a backup for restoring after a factory reset? (apps like helium or titanium backup will help)
or just to make them stay between reboots? (that's not neccesary as the app data should be saved by default)
please explain a little deeper
Gesendet von meinem 1+ One
Yep as a backup for restoring.
Which files do I have to backup with titanium to be able to restore my homescreen?

Hey,
Somehow, my copied text data is being written down to .TXT files in my folder. Also I think my clipboard stores previous copies as well.
How to identify which program is doing it and why??
Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
I had this happen to me before but i dont know how to fix it i just got scared and reset my phone
If i was you i would backup data w/titanium backup or custom recovery (only the apps you need because one of them is the spyware or virus) and your photos to pc or sd card and reset your phone to factory and restore the backups makesure the backups are not on the phone when you reset and done you will have got rid of the spyware
You may not want to reset your phone just look for apps that use root and the ones in your in assasibility or admkn apps
Sorry kf this did not help:thumbup:
