Hi Guys!
Just got my nexus 5, I was wondering as to which current ROM's available offer any of the following :
1) Halo
2) PIE control
Thanks in advance !
Not sure about ROMs but if you're happy with the stock ROM and just want those two features then you can install the Xposed Framework and download Gravity Box for PIE control and XHalo modules. I know the Gravity Box module is functional, not sure about Halo since I don't use it. Hope this helps.

Thank you, i will look into Xposed Framework. One question though, does installing Xposed Framework require the device to be rooted ? I know i have to root the device to install a custom ROM but was just wondering if Xposed Framework can be installed without rooting.

I looked through all the ROMs in the nexus 5 sections, only a few of them list change logs the rest just instructions on how to install the ROM. I believe there was just ROM thread that actually listed out all the features added to the ROM.
I understand that nexus 5 development is in its early stages and I do not expect to see full feature functionality for a while. Being kinda new to the android scene i am still trying to understand all the terminology used so change logs really dont elaborate on anything yet. Thank you though

1) you don't need root to flash custom ROMs. Only custom recovery. You do however, have to unlock your bootloader.#
2) Yes, Xposed needs root.
Hi guys, I'm running 4.4.2 and I was wondering if there is anyway to theme the stock OS? I mean something like the CM Theme Engine or maybe flashable theme or even an xposed module ? Thanks for your time
PS: I'm rooted and I have unlocked the bootloader and flashed a custom recovery ( TWRP )
there's lots of themes in the play store.

I don't know, there are one or two Xposed theme engine modules. I don't use them as I use a custom ROM.

Use the xposed module called hk themer.
Why the hell are you on 4.4.2?
I'm on 4.4.2 because it works very well for me , I have got very good performance and battery life

Just update to 4.4.4, claiming that 4.4.2 has better performance and battery life compared to 4.4.4 is silly, it's going to be exactly the same (improvements if anything). Just flash the 4.4.2 radio in fastboot if the 4.4.4 radio isn't good for you ._.

I'm still on 4.4.2 too... haven't felt the need to upgrade yet either. I use HKTheme Manager (xposed module) for applying themes. Make sure to check the search options in settings if your themes aren't showing up.
Is there a ROM based on LPX13D for our OPO?
As far as I know, there isn't. There is an L port but I don't think it boots.

Thx mate. I've been looking and came out empty handed.
Its a shame really lollipop looks beautiful
there is a ROM that combines Kitkat and Lollipop and it's booted (for at least one person) but thats it.
It's still being worked on but for a full on proper Lollipop we might have to wait for AOSP sources on the 3rd to hit

Hey guys!
Power users already have custom kernels and ROMs, and it is possible to tune some advanced settings with and without root, so what did you modified on yours?
A lot of users reported performance issues and others just want more features, more efficiency, etc. Of course, there are those who just likes the device the way it comes from Motorola or don't want to void the warranty.
With all this diversity, I created this thread for we discuss what is the best setup for our device and how can we extract the best of it.
Curently mine is with stock ROM, Xposed, GravityBox and squid's custom kernel.
This setup provides me all Moto features, plus lots of features with GravityBox. I think that the performance is better, because I changed some settings with Kernel Adiutor.

Since each person uses a phone in a way, my idea was to create a space where people could tell which ROM, kernel, apps, themes and other things they use and share the benefits they get. This would make possible to all Moto X Play owners discover new things that could improve the user experience and everybody would win.
Stock rom, greenify, amplify (xda thread for great battery), lspeed mod. Works fine for me

Now I'm on Cyanogenmod with a custom kernel, both by squid.
But I remember that when I was on stock, I had no problems with audio neither before or after installing Xposed.
Ohh.. Alright, having never used an android device, how do you find the performance of the device on cyanogenmod compared to stock? Is it worth flashing?

Totally worth it! X Play doesn't have good performance with the stock ROM at this time. There are lags that we don't expect to find on a device at this price range. With Cyanogenmod the UI is very smooth. There are still some lags, but they're normal because we don't have a device with a Snapdragon 8xx. I can say you that with CM, the performance is just as good as you could expect of this hardware (and it's very good). If you are going to flash, I also recommend the squid kernel. It's great.
Here is the index of Moto X Play on XDA: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-play/general/17-10-t3227295
Thanks man, will let you know. I tried the squid kernel yesterday, phone wouldn't resume out of deep sleep
Any such problems with cyanogenmod that might have occured due to squid kernel?

The only problem I *think* some people have is that on certain wi-fi networks, the wi-fi driver prevents the phone from sleeping. I said *I think* because I don't have this issue and because of this I'm not sure whether it's already solved or if the problem persists. I suggest you to read at least the last pages from the threads of CM and the kernel for you to be sure.
What I can say is that for my usage, I have absolutely no problems. Everything works fine.
i'm using RR 5.5.8 + squid kernel latest update, greenify + amplify, working fine
Does Squid kernel (or Cyanogenmod ) solve the problem of RECENT APPS ?
I mean the impossibility for erasing them all with a single button.

Flash TWRP, root the device then check this thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-play/help/xposed-t3191338/post63940401 to be sure which version to use.
Basically, flash the zip provided and reboot :good:
For the first time waiting a little before rooting this phone, since 6.0 is rolling out soon.
As of today mine is running quite smooth on stock 5.1.1
Just disabled all unused/useless apps,
limited the connections and data usage with Netguard and Opera max.
Will keep you posted.
On the phone app I'm missing my overview of Groups.
Which app phone app replacement do you use and why?
I use latest google phone app. it has spam check for incoming calls. pretty good btw.

Replacing the phone app has nothing to do with FreedomOS. The Google phone app which is what was discussed with Aroma in the same sentence. OpenGAPPS has an Aroma installer available, and within that is the Google Dialer.

Sorry about that. I probably came across weird there. As far as a return to stock guide, do you want, A. to return to stock with an unlocked bootloader and TWRP with root / no root or B. completely stock with the stock OnePlus recovery, OOS 3.2.2 and locked bootloader? If you want choice A I think there's a guide somewhere in XDA and also the OnePlus forums. If you want choice B I wrote up a guide for it. Here's the link for choice B:

I am also interested in using google phone app. Couldn't install it from google play. I have oxygen os Lite custom rom. I will give it a try for installing it from aroma gapps.

Thanks
I mounted system 1st if that helps error 64. I didn't get any errors or fc's

thanks for the link, I'd seen the full guide to unlock but hadn't seen one to go back to stock yet until you linked it here. I may do this when I have a bit of time.
unrelated, are you running just stock OOS w/ root or a specific rom? what are your thoughts on the ROMs available so far?

Right now currently I'm running stock OOS 3.2.2 with root and XPosed. This thing is a beast on the stock rom! The last couple of days were spent trying 3 different roms.
The official CM13 nightlies are pretty good and stable, but are subject to the standard nightly quirk of suddenly stopping working due to the fact that they're nightlies.
I also tried the official Resurrection Remix 5.7.2 "stable" rom. That was also pretty good but is based on the CM13 nightlies so it has the same quirks. If you try this make sure you read the OP first as there are multiple versions of this rom and it can get confusing pretty quick.
The other one I tried was the unofficial Dirty Unicorns 10.4. It worked fine except that it constantly had issues with Google sync. I tried adding, deleting and re-adding my account to no avail. It would only partially sync. That was a dealbreaker.
I tried FreedomOS 1.3.1 twice yesterday but the installer is messed up and doesn't install the apps you choose, otherwise it works. If you want that one I recommend watching the thread for an update before you go flash it.
Also forgot to mention on CM13 and Resurrection Remix there is a notification bug far worse than the OOS one. You can receive the first notification with sound, the rest don't sound off. It has been reported to the devs. All of the devs on these roms are cool and work hard to make them pretty bug free.
The rest of the roms on there I haven't looked at. Most of the rest of them are similar in features to the above ones. I was going to try Slim6 but it's in alpha and as far as I know still doesn't have DASH charge capabilities. Roms that are in Alpha are a big no no on my daily driver.
I hope I've been of some help!

thanks man, this is all pretty helpful. coming from the N5X I'd been mostly looking at freedom OS since i'd heard about the issues on other roms (mostly the photo quality stuff, but that notification issue would annoy me quite a bit) and the stock N5X android M has little customization.
That being said, in this case since OOS is great and customizeable as is I may just do the same as you. Most of the removed system apps on freedomOS don't have any effect being present, I don't mind not having layers, and i can make most of the remaining mods myself.
What xposed apps do you use if you don't mind me asking?

Don't mind at all. Here's what I have at the moment:
AdBlocker <-- blocks ads in free apps, works great and better than MinMinGuard!
FingerprintEnabler <-- Removes the Android 6.0.1 restriction on using a secondary unlock with every reboot, just lets me use the fingerprint all the time.
Hide VoLTE Icon <-- A beautiful mod. Removes the ugly VoLTE icon on 3.2.1 and higher.
Lockscreen Album Art Remover (not sure if this is working properly or not)
RootCloak (so I can use my banking app)
YouTube AdAway <-- Removes the ads in YouTube videos. I tried it on one video and it seems to work nicely.
I'm still looking at some others. But for now this is functional. I'm also using AdAway downloaded from F-Droid (an open source app installer for Android) to block ads elsewhere.
