Hi guys, I'm running 4.4.2 and I was wondering if there is anyway to theme the stock OS? I mean something like the CM Theme Engine or maybe flashable theme or even an xposed module ? Thanks for your time
PS: I'm rooted and I have unlocked the bootloader and flashed a custom recovery ( TWRP )
there's lots of themes in the play store.

I know that there are many themes in the playstore but the question is how can I apply them since I'm running the stock OS

I don't know, there are one or two Xposed theme engine modules. I don't use them as I use a custom ROM.

ok, thank you for you answer :highfive:
Use the xposed module called hk themer.
Why the hell are you on 4.4.2?
I'm on 4.4.2 because it works very well for me , I have got very good performance and battery life

Just update to 4.4.4, claiming that 4.4.2 has better performance and battery life compared to 4.4.4 is silly, it's going to be exactly the same (improvements if anything). Just flash the 4.4.2 radio in fastboot if the 4.4.4 radio isn't good for you ._.

I'm still on 4.4.2 too... haven't felt the need to upgrade yet either. I use HKTheme Manager (xposed module) for applying themes. Make sure to check the search options in settings if your themes aren't showing up.

With Lollipop round the corner (fingers crossed sometime next week), those of you presently rooted and running Xposed, what are you going to do? Ditch Xposed and run Lollipop or wait for Xposed to be updated?
Just curious really.
I am minded to removed Xposed and run Lollipop.
I keep KK until Xposed FW works on LP or alternatives are found.

I installed the dev preview but honestly I will switch back today on 4.4 because I miss xposed so much. I have never thought that I would miss it that much but I do.

Actually I don't care about some goodies that Xposed can provide. The 2 main reasons I don't switch to LP are: the whole UI is way too bright (especially the system settings) and Xprivacy.

Hi, guys! I found a working version viper4android for Android 5.0.2, i tested on latest version CyanogenMod 12 and works great! Installation by twrp/cwm
My Viper isn't working!!!
"Did you install by flashing the zip??? Is your apk in priv-app??? Do you have any other conflicting sound mods or eq's??? Is Viper enabled and you have installed the drivers and done a reboot???
Some people have luck adding or changing these lines in their build.prop:
##Viper4android
lpa.decode=false
tunnel.decode=false
lpa.use-stagefright=false
lpa.releaselock=false
Also some music players work better by switching to Compatibility Mode. To do that go to menu, click FX Compatible Mode, then click Compatible. Doing this should cause Viper to only modify media players instead of changing sound system wide. Some users say this helps with battery usage as Viper will only process sound when you want it to."
P.S.:
Lolliviper will install the Viper to priv-app and remove Audio FX, DSP Manager, and Music FX.

Did you do something else other than flashing that kernel and then installing viper?
kernel change
Even with SeLinux Mode Changer, the kernel stays on enforcing mode (in my case atleast where im on stock 5.0.1) (EVEN WHEN MODE WAS CHANGED TO PERMISSIVE) Basically what has to be done is install a SeMode editing friendly kernel inbuilt in a particular rom which i cant find and i can't live without viper4android :crying: :crying:
saw some beta's on a few website. Will try and post the results here.
P.s-Update on this version
selinux-Permissive
installed as priv-app
Installed super quality drivers
result : check ss
Running: Stock android kernel (3.4.x)

in the pic it shows that you didnt get to activate viper.
Also, did you get a permissive kernel or did you find a trick to use with stock kernel on tw 5.0.1?

i dont get what you said about this part "im using it with stock tw 5.0.1 since i managed to run viper on 4.4.4 stock."
are you using viper on tw 5.0.1 because you make it work on 4.4.4? that doesnt make sense.
also, how did you make viper works on tw 5.0.1 ? did you use that apk that changes the kernel to permissive?
did you do something else?
i also installed viper on t2 5.0.1 and get able to click on options but they didnt make any difference to the sound.
also, you said you will try with custom kernels...
does that mean, you make it work with stock ones? (the ones in custom tw 5.0.1 roms)
are there any custom kernel for tw 5.0.1?
Sorry for these lots of questions.

I said that ill try to flash on 5.0.1 since i was able to run viper without any errors on android 4.4.4 which was running stock mernel.
2. No i didnt successfully run the mod and system status remains abnormal inspite of me following every step to install viper
3. When i say custom kernel, PrismBarebone Rom in aurora gives you an option to flash 5 different kernels and i will try to run it in one of those kernels to see if this mod works
sorry if i wasnt clear to elaborate what you had asked for.

Hey guys!
Power users already have custom kernels and ROMs, and it is possible to tune some advanced settings with and without root, so what did you modified on yours?
A lot of users reported performance issues and others just want more features, more efficiency, etc. Of course, there are those who just likes the device the way it comes from Motorola or don't want to void the warranty.
With all this diversity, I created this thread for we discuss what is the best setup for our device and how can we extract the best of it.
Curently mine is with stock ROM, Xposed, GravityBox and squid's custom kernel.
This setup provides me all Moto features, plus lots of features with GravityBox. I think that the performance is better, because I changed some settings with Kernel Adiutor.

Since each person uses a phone in a way, my idea was to create a space where people could tell which ROM, kernel, apps, themes and other things they use and share the benefits they get. This would make possible to all Moto X Play owners discover new things that could improve the user experience and everybody would win.
Stock rom, greenify, amplify (xda thread for great battery), lspeed mod. Works fine for me

Now I'm on Cyanogenmod with a custom kernel, both by squid.
But I remember that when I was on stock, I had no problems with audio neither before or after installing Xposed.
Ohh.. Alright, having never used an android device, how do you find the performance of the device on cyanogenmod compared to stock? Is it worth flashing?

Totally worth it! X Play doesn't have good performance with the stock ROM at this time. There are lags that we don't expect to find on a device at this price range. With Cyanogenmod the UI is very smooth. There are still some lags, but they're normal because we don't have a device with a Snapdragon 8xx. I can say you that with CM, the performance is just as good as you could expect of this hardware (and it's very good). If you are going to flash, I also recommend the squid kernel. It's great.
Here is the index of Moto X Play on XDA: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-play/general/17-10-t3227295
Thanks man, will let you know. I tried the squid kernel yesterday, phone wouldn't resume out of deep sleep
Any such problems with cyanogenmod that might have occured due to squid kernel?

The only problem I *think* some people have is that on certain wi-fi networks, the wi-fi driver prevents the phone from sleeping. I said *I think* because I don't have this issue and because of this I'm not sure whether it's already solved or if the problem persists. I suggest you to read at least the last pages from the threads of CM and the kernel for you to be sure.
What I can say is that for my usage, I have absolutely no problems. Everything works fine.
i'm using RR 5.5.8 + squid kernel latest update, greenify + amplify, working fine
Does Squid kernel (or Cyanogenmod ) solve the problem of RECENT APPS ?
I mean the impossibility for erasing them all with a single button.

Flash TWRP, root the device then check this thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-play/help/xposed-t3191338/post63940401 to be sure which version to use.
Basically, flash the zip provided and reboot :good:
For the first time waiting a little before rooting this phone, since 6.0 is rolling out soon.
As of today mine is running quite smooth on stock 5.1.1
Just disabled all unused/useless apps,
limited the connections and data usage with Netguard and Opera max.
Will keep you posted.
