Is the Z3 going to be available through the official SonyStore like the Z3 Compact? Any rumors or articles? I previously bought it on ebay but I'd like a factory warranty.

I got no rumors or articles to back this up: no. Sonys latest flagship phone will not be sold in the Sony store, it will exclusively be sold on ebay.
I went to T-Mobile Store today and I was told T-Mobile will carry the Z3 Compact. I found that to be a bit odd because the Z3C made it to the SonyStore, thereby indicating a lack of exclusivity in Sony & T-Mobile's agreement.
Also, I called the SonyStore in Manhattan and a sales rep told me they may be getting the Z3 unlocked but it hasn't been made official yet. But you have to be careful when hearing things from sales people. From my experience with buying computers and cars, I generally know more about the product than the sales people.

Better to get from TMO (14 day exchange period) or whichever carrier you are on, they replaced mine without hassle 3 times due to various defects. If you buy from Sony store, you will have to deal with long waits for warranty repairs and maybe end up with a refurbished one just like any manufacturer would do, just for small defects.
I need D6603 due to the various LTE bands. My goal is to get my next device to last me 3-4 years by having NFC, expandable storage so I can download offline Nokia Here maps, and lots of LTE bands to use in both Europe and the US. I hate carrier branded phones for this exact reason - every carrier wants to keep you on their network by restricting hardware.
Given all the issues with the camera and bending, I'm also considering the Note 4. The only problem is the price!
http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_note_4-6434.php
Z3 is not a bad device, just wait for the new batches. All manufacturers at one time or another have had launch production QC issues. Better yet wait till Feb/Mar, the Z4 will release and is a much bigger upgrade than the Z3.
I was thinking the same thing - wait for the Z4 to come out after MWC and then buy the Z3 because the QC issues would be worked out and I could get it for cheaper. However, I came across this article stating that the Z4 is going to be a 5.5" QHD phablet. This means the new Z4 can be considered a different segment like the iPhone 6 and 6+. So, QC issues worked out, yes. Cheaper, no.

I actually bought the D6603 on ebay and then returned it due to the camera issues. The water coloring effect was unacceptable to me. Waiting would be a good strategy to see if Lollipop can provide the fix.

It popped up in the SonyStore last night but the MSRP is $680. If you can't register as a student/don't apply for a Sony credit card, it's better to go through an authorized retailer.

hmm interesting...maybe there is some validity to the in store rumor after all...
that $50 mark up sucks though..and its sad that outside retailers can sell it at a cheaper price than the manufacturer.
i wonder when the shipping date for this is going to be pushed back to..haha...the shipping system for the z3c is a complete mess right now, ive seen my order status change 3 times since yesterday

I have no reason to weep as I'm not a iPhone fan. But thanks for the notice!
Interesting. That's either because they've run the stock out for the 3g model coming out soon, OR they've pulled out of their contract with Apple for some reason.
Here is the full press release
British carrier O2 today issued a statement on its website (not available outside of the UK) that the company has stopped selling the current-generation iPhone. Both the 8GB and 16GB models are listed as "no longer available" and have not been given a restocking date by the provider. Apple itself continues to list both versions as shipping within 24 hours, though independent phone retailer Carphone Warehouse has also reported selling out all its supply without expectations of new shipments.
O2 recently instituted a temporary price cut to help drive sales but is thought to have underestimated demand, triggering a sales spike that dried up supplies of the 8GB model covered by the discount.
The device has been in chronic shortages in recent weeks across both the US and Europe, and is believed by many to have effectively been phased out by Apple in favor of a replacement expected at next month's Worldwide Developer Conference. California-based Apple has not explained the early shortfall other than to suggest that demand has been stronger than anticipated.
To me, this seems a slightly strange marketing tactic unless they're gonna sell the "new" iPhone for a lot more...
Why stop people buying the current generation when you can still make money?
Actually... I have both an iPhone and a TyTN II... so... just to help shed some light... while WM people here are saying that O2 is cutting supply because of unsatisfactory demand, people at the Mac side are speculating that this is to make way for the 3G model, with its eminent release, which is believed to be held sometime June 9th-13th, in Apple's WWDC. AT&T has also passed an internal memo to its employees restricting employee vacation days on June 12-July 15 or something like that... I forget. But on the company memo, it said that they needed manpower to help the stores because they were "expecting large demand" due to an "exciting new product launching." Looks like O2 is probably clearing the way for the 3G iPhone. Just my 2 cents.
just an update the site now says that only the 16gb is available. this has been updated within the last half an hour???

buying a iphone for less then a month, and now u have 3G iphone which is much better?
Guess that explains this...

I don't get it. i clicked the TS link and i get offered to buy an iPhone. Am i missing the part where i can't buy it and its no longer available?
The 8Gb are gone but they seem to not have a problem selling you a 16GB one. Is that what all the hullabaloo is about?
This is bizarre - can't get onto the o2 shop to even look - says they only sell to the UK.
But I'm in the UK, working at one of the larger internet backbone suppliers ....

I'm thinking about buying Xperia Z3. I live in USA and have AT&T, so I think I would need the D6603 model to work on AT&T's LTE.
Now, I'm thinking should I buy it from Sony themselves? They are currently selling it for $630. Or should I just wait till February for the Xperia Z4? I've been reading lots of problem with quality assurance and it's making me scared to buy the Z3.

The way I see it, I've yet to come across a phone that is 100% on build quality. Maybe it's happened, but I haven't been apart of it. If you wait for the Z4, chances are you could have the same issues. If you are gonna wait that long, you could always check back and see if the Z3 is 1. Cheaper when the Z4 comes out and 2. Build quality in later batches have been better.
Personally I have no issues with my D6603 on Bell.
I am one of those unlucky customers. On my third one now (it is currently being shipped to me). First one had a defective camera. Second one had a bad QA with the micro USB flap--one side of the flap has a bigger gap when closed fully.

Wait till Z4 its a much bigger upgrade. Z2->Z3 is comparatively minor. I got the Z3 because I just joined T-Mobile so I had to buy a phone, otherwise would have waited for the Z4.
You can still get the Z3 its a good device just check it in the Sony store itself for any defects, and exchange if there is an issue. I think the D6606 should be good, it was the D6616 that had a lot of issues as TMO got dumped a bad batch, I exchanged 3 on my 4th here lol. Then again TMO is also getting a lot of iPhone returns due to defects, according to reps. This happens with every company, there will be a few bad batches here and there, especially when a device is newly released.
Happy people don't complain/or say how great their device is on forums, they are too busy enjoying, that's why forums are skewed towards those with issues so be aware of that.
Sup, I was planning to ask this here as well until I found this thread already made. I'm considering switching from an iPhone 5, to the Z3 now that it's officially out for pre-order in the US. I already own a Z2 Tablet myself and so far it's been pretty fantastic. I've actually grown to really prefer android over iOS, which is one of the reasons for switching. (That and my iPhone has been having nonstop issues ever since iOS 8, and the iPhone 6 was kinda... lame this year IMHO.)
Anyway, as someone coming from an iPhone 5, should I wait for the Z4? Or get the Z3 now as it's a fairly large jump anyways? I can actually get a 10% discount from it's current price too (via student discount 630USD -> 566USD)
I read that the Z4 might be announced in February-March, but judging from the previous releases, it might be actually released near May-June? (7-8 Months)
I'm aware of some of the issues with the Z3, but as abhinav.tella stated, occasionally devices usually have some bad batches at the start.

You can check for defects at TMO/Sony store itself so don't worry about buying the phone, its good. However if you can wait get the Z4, even if you get the Z3 you can't go wrong but as I said the Z4 will be a bigger jump.
I would get it on contract or with insurance. This phone isn't built like a premium flagship, and looks good until the wear starts creeping in. Mine is perfect, but the cotton corners (or whatever they're made of) are starting to look a little iffy lol.
There's a number of things on the Z3 that mean it's worth waiting for a Z4 as well but you'll find those issues all over the forum.
Can't say you won't experience the same issues on a Z4 though.
Buy now, upgrade later. Enjoy what you can get today, you aren't promised a Z4 or Z5 or whatever MAY be next.
I don't know that there is a single phone without fault. I just purchased mine yesterday and so far, we are getting to know each other just fine.
I was really waiting for the Nexus 6 until the rumors of the 6" screen were true. I was guttee and thus began my quest for a different device. I have a Nexus 4, I got my sister the Nexus 5 last year and having to break ties with nexus was not easy
It really depends what you are after. Most phones today are similar it is a matter of what your personal needs are.
I was debating between the Moto X 2nd ed (not avail in stores, online only) and the Z3. I live in London and had the opportunity to play with a phone at a Sony stand inside one of our malls out here. Absolutely loved it. I travel a lot and so having a 20 MP camera with all of the amazing features was a no brainer.
Hi guys. In my country, there is a 200 dollar price difference between the official sellers and online seller who ships from abroad. The price of the online seller is cheaper because they don't have the official sony warranty. This seller has a good reputation. People have bought many phones from them without encountering issues. I also treat my phones well enough to last at least two years. My question is the actual phone itself. I have never bought a sony phone before. Do I need to worry about defects and poor quality control issues?
Why wouldn't it have manufacturers warranty? As my sony phones have never been sent back to where I've got them it's always been Sony direct

If it's a genuine Sony, you should have manufacturer warranty.
You could have a faulty unit (left-hand lens blur in camera) and maybe other faults like a blueish display so I should play safe and make sure u can get it replaced in the first two weeks or so.
Overall, I don't have any issue with my replacement Z5.
NO, Maybe it's cheap, but it has the high risk.

The manufacturers warranty is from the manufacturer not the retailer so if it doesn't have one and it states that then something isn't right

Thinking of getting contract for a pixel on whether O2 or EE.
What is your experience with returns, faults and warranty?
Is it free of branding and any network bloat?
This phone is expensive and better be good if I pay that much. I already red many reviews and I am very happy about general performance being very fast and fluid combined with excelent camera.
I also looked into oneplus 3T but costumer service is the only thing that stops me from opting for that phone.
I also read its worth getting XL since the battery is really good but i am not sure i will be able to contain its size one handed.
Biggest phone I owned was OPO1 while ussualy i do use 5-5'2" inchers. Moto g3 huawei p9.
Thanks
I bought from CPWH last week with Vodafone contract. There is no bloatwares included. It is pure stock. I never like a phone more than 5.2" screen. I like this Pixel so far. I rooted and also removed all google apps like video, music etc as I do not use them and also want to freeup some system ROM.
I'd like to point out that ID Mobile do quite a good deal on 2gb data (and this includes using your calls/text/data abroad) at £31.50 per month with £50 upfront.
I just ordered with them based on this (order direct with ID, carphone warehouse have inflated their prices) and am looking forward to ditching my Honor 4X!
I can update on if there is any bloat when I get it tomorrow or Saturday. I doubt it though as they all just use the standard pixel rom?
went for 32gb version. I ussually keep it minimal stuff on my phone and on the other hand i could not justify price jump for more storage. It is almost insanity I noticed the more storage I have on my phone the more junk i have too.
And yes I was confirmed all updates come from Google just like nexus 5x i bought at cpw on o2 contract some 1.5 year ago.
Can't wait until Monday when I play with that beast of the phones.
Thanks

Google t&cs say warranty only covers original buyer with proof of purchase (I assume from a proper retailer if not Google Store UK).
They will tell you to go back to the place/person you got it from for warranty repairs/exchanges.. if you cannot prove you are the original purchaser.
This was the main reason I had to pass up on an amazing used XL deal (£500 for a good as new Quite Black 32gb) in November.. and reluctantly paid for a normal Pixel direct from Google.
However.. when you buy a handset direct from Google the customer service experience is equivalent to Apples.. it only falls of the cliff if you purchase from a third party.
That is why I decided to pay full price.. for the full comprehensive hassle-free warranty (note, this is the first time in ages I have paid RRP for one of my gadgets.. just for the peace of mind)!
Nevertheless, I have had a Pixel replaced (with a brand new one) recently due to a screen issue (please see my other threads for info if curious).. and that was smooth and pretty quick given the current stock shortages.

Carephonewarehouse is a proper retailer here in UK. I spoke to them and they told me they would be dealing with me in case of any fault, repair.
I just wonder if I be still able to use google 24/7 support line that Google advertise with every Pixel phone. Any idea?
I am still a little sceptical about amoled technology nevertheless I felt more confident going with google. I twill be my first non-IPS based smartphone Pretty much excited.

I have experience with CPW customer service.. I am from the UK as well.
What I was implying was.. if something goes wrong with your Pixel.. CPW will ask to you to send it away for repair etc (can take weeks).. before they issue a replacement (this is after diagnosis).
But when purchased via Google.. they will send you a replacement then ask for the faulty device back (this is after contacting them about the issue.. I have experience of this.. just like Apple normally would do).
Also, the 24/7 support is for all Pixel users (such as technical queries, trouble shooting etc). However, when the issue is deemed warranty related the 24/7 support team will tell you to contact the original the seller i.e. CPW.
Hope that makes sense.

I have had all the iPhones since the iPhone 5 (no plus szie models though) and have just come off an iPhone 7 to the Pixel.
Android wise I have had all the Nexii bar the first One, 6 and 6P.
I like to try most new phones out.. especially the iOS and pure Android ones.. but never been too keen on in Samsungs/LGs/HTCs etc although have tried them all.
Tell me about your experience Iphone 7 vs Pixel? Which one? I have had Iphone 6 though and can tell you I did like too it's reliability which I expect from Pixel phone . It has to simply work.
I originally sent my z2 force in & paid around $50 for a "free" shattershield screen replacement and bought a z3 to use while waiting for the repair to be completed.
They contacted me after receiving the device saying they couldn't do a shattershield RMA because the very top layer of the screen was peeling back which is part of the display but whatever(why they wouldn't just put an entire LCD assembly in is beyond my understanding).
So after refusing to fix mine they offered to send me a new[refurbished] device for a little over an additional $50, so I'm a bit over $100 in the hole but I'm getting a new[refurbished] device, okay, or so I thought.
Expecting it to be a quick process I was just going to sell this z3 once I got my z2 force back; it's now 2 months later, I still haven't received my new[refurbished] z2 force and they can't even figure out how to ship it. In the meantime I'm still using my z3 which is showing signs of use now so selling it is going to suck, the charging port on my z3 is already wearing out & I've have a motomod turbopower battery pack die.
To sum up the issue, since my phone was originally a repair & got changed to a replacement they had to make a new RMA case for it because apparently they don't have a process to modify it mid RMA. After they made a new RMA case for it they can't figure out how to mark my device as "received" since they already had it. So they haven't shipped my replacement for over a month because their customer support & warehouse people are completely inept. I've already called & emailed multiple times and actually gave them multiple ways to mark it received on their end(I have inventory management experience) but all I ever get is "we're coordinating with our warehouse" "we can't get ahold of the warehouse" and my favorite "we're escalating your case" which I've been told so many times I think the CEO of Motorola must be handling my case.
After exclusively using Motorola phones my whole life [v710, razr(probably had 5 of these), MotoQ, original flip Moto Droid, Droid X, Droid Bionic, Droid Turbo, Turbo 2, Z force, z2 force & now z3] I've been on the fence my last few purchases and I'm done with Motorola/Lenovo forever.

Did you read my post? I already bought a new one, I'm saying after this I'm done with them for sure. Why would I continue buying products from, and supporting a company that has terrible customer service & support and as you mentioned is slow with software updates & improvements..? Also Moto phones aren't cheap for the Z line so they have no competitive edge in price and the quality just isn't there as this z3 I just bought already has multiple issues. I thought the mods platform was awesome and while they are functional the battery packs seem to fail quickly and the software interface with other mods always feels very alpha/beta and definitely not like a finished product.

I don't disagree with anything you're saying. They have a lot of potential but they suck so hard right now with updates and just general basic stuff I can't recommend a Moto. My Z3 has been great but still no OS update and we're well into 2019. They are circling the drain.

I don't know if I'd go with Samsung if you want great repair service considering their largest repair center just lost 280 workers to an ICE raid. It's possible that CVE as featured in this article also does work for Motorola since they're literally located around the corner in Allen, Texas:

You didn't by chance send your phone to Allen, did you?

I don't know if I'd go with Samsung if you want great repair service considering their largest repair center just lost 280 workers to an ICE raid. It's possible that CVE as featured in this article also does work for Motorola since they're literally located around the corner in Allen, Texas:

You didn't by chance send your phone to Allen, did you?

No mine went to Fort Worth, TX.
Either way there's no excuse for it to take as long as it has. I'm actually currently on the phone with them lol I've been escalated again ???
Well they offered me a 5% discount to continue attempting to send me a refurb which they've been trying to do for a month now ?* Unbelievable...
I'm thinking OnePlus, I got one for my mom a while back and she hasn't destroyed it which impressive.
