Nexus 5 3G - not finding operator

Hello,
I bought a new device, Nexus 5 from China
And I have a problem when I insert SIM regardless of which provider I have no reception (no service),
Tried to set the correct APN settings with the provider but it didn't help.
It works out only when I'm working on 2G when I return to 3G again no reception. (No LTE in my country - Israel) .
I can't find any operator after switching to 3G.
when I switch from 3G back to 2G I still can't find operator only after a restart.
Do you have any data about my problem? and how\were can I get service support in my country? Thank you.

Same problem here...anyone?

Well, depending on your operator, 3G frequenties used maybe not the same as the ones uses in China.
I know that USA LTE(4G) isn't the same as here, in France (If not I would have bought it in USA for 349$, that equals to 255€. And I bought my N5 349€ in the play store)
Try to call your operator and ask them for the frequenties they're using ?

Are you sure this method workd for the problem I am having? Please note that I can select 3g but its not getting any network while others have problem where they cannot select 3g. I am asking here before following the video so that I do not mess up my device.

I see that you are from Manila and using a F350L please check supported bands by your network and the supported bands of F350L if they are compatible.

i did check it and it is same bands use here. there are f350L users here with no problems using their 3G connection.
My F350L is LTE-8 other F350L are LTE-A. I suspect that this two have different band

I am having the same Problem up here in Ohio
No matter what I try I can not seem to get this phone to do anything besides just G I am running the F350S on AT&T

Please look in Dialer with 5457#*350# and activate your Bands

I put the Checkmarks on the bands that AT&T Supports. But I am still only getting G

Hi folks, I am Nigerian and I use an LG G Pro (D838). Some days back i noticed that i had no network on my phone so I tried inserting another sim into the device and still got the same result but other devices around had network coverage. I changed the network mode to GSM only and got 2G but WCDMA only gives me nothing. I have tried other sims on GSM only mode and got 2G but when i change the mode to WCDMA only, i get nothing at all. Have also put it to GSM/WCDMA auto but keeps giving me just 2G network only. I have even had to downgrade the OS from android 5.0.1 to 4.4.2 as suggested by a friend and still got the same issue. Please, what should i do??????

I have the same problem in Holland. I have the F350k variant) 3G is in Holland 900/2100. The phone has despite of the advertisement text !!! by selling (900/2100) 850/1900/2100. The 2100 band is the same so should work.
Tried a lot. By the way last software and Androi 5.0.1.
The Sim is not the problem, the APN setting not, ........
any suggestions?
Could it be somewhere oleh software??????

Hello, I am from Nigeria.
I bought my LG D838 on eBay in May 2015 and was quite impressed with the performance but my pride and happiness was short lived. I woke up one morning in December 2015, and noticed I didn't have any cell reception. I checked with my siblings and I seemed to be the only one who had no cell reception on the same network as theirs.
I swapped SIMS of other networks into my phone but still to no avail but funny thing was that whenever I change network mode to 2G only, I get reception but switching back to 3G only mode gave me nothing at all...this happened a few days after I updated the OS with a 50MB patch file using OTA as prompted. I have been writing to LG since then but no reply and it has frustrated me so much as I bought this phone for about USD 398 and didn't even get to use it up to a year. I managed it on 2G while trying to contact LG about it until the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth stopped responding also. I need the NV and QCN backup file for this phone in order to get it running again…I would really love to see this beauty run again. Please help me out.

can't connect with 4g, only 3g

Dear friends, I have Nexus 5 but 4G doesn't works . My service provider supports 4G service at 800MHz and 1800MHz as it shown here http://www.gsmarena.com/network-bands.php3?sCountry=Morocco , but my nexus 5 d 821 does not work with 4G, I want to ask that if there is a solution like a roms or others things.

800MHz and 1800MHz are LTE bands 20 and 3 which are supported by your device but those information are for Morocco. Do you have the same information from your carrier?

Do you have a map that could show you the cell towers around you?
Is LTE enabled in your phone settings? (preferred network type)

i have a white nexus 5 (D821) 32Gb version.
i can't connect to 4G network,unless i'm near the 4G tower.
sometimes the phone loses signal and switches to ''emergency calls only" mode even when i force switching to 3G by typing *#*#4636#*#*
If anyone you kno how to solve this problem or anyone else here do,could you possibly help me out with this.

i will try to give you a summary of what i reached in the end.
first thing, i discovered that the nexus 5 that i have is not a D821 but it's a D820 means it's the version especially for USA networks, and this mean that 4G of USA networks works on different bands than ours in Morocco, so after finding exactly where the problem, i began looking for a solution and i found this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/general/radio-enable-lte-band-3-nexus-5-d820-t2928561 and after application the lesson, i got the 4G connection on my phone, and it's work very well till now.
this is my story, and i think it's a little different than mine.

i'm glad you answered.
and i'm glad you figured that out and solved your problem.
my case is somewhat different from yours.
before enabling those bands,you never caught 4G signal.
but for me,i do get 4G signal and connect to it,i access internet data, surfe,and make calls,but it's only when i'm near a 4G network tower.
which means the band is already activaed,it's just a deal with the signal strength.
if you can help me,i'd really appreciate that.
i'm really confused wether to flash those drivers or do something about the radio,cuz this problem brings about another problem which is battery drain,
my battery drains faster cuz the phone keeps searching for network.
just to let you know,when i go to bootloader it says Lg nexus 5 D821 (H)

i just removed the back cover of my nexus 5 and was freaked out to find out it was actually an american model D820
thought the fact that in fastboot mode( bootloader) it says it's a D821 (H)
and guess what ! that (H) confused me and made me doubting it to not be a global (indian) version.
i guess i need to flash Some bands to get my LTE working properly.
thoughtless it's working but only when i'm near a 4G tower !
please help me.

1- go to "settings"
2- scroll down to "About Phone"
3- then "regulatory information"
4- take a screenshot and share it with me here to take a look

i can't find it under setting/about phone.
since i installed A custom RoM AOSP nougat 7.0 and modified the build.prop to get google assistant working.

ahh, i dont know where to find it with Nougat, i have shown you on Marshmallow, what about return to 6.0.1 ? and go to the missing setting then take a screenshot and share it with me

i really am confused with this device !
i thought it to be a nexus 5 model D820 because it can't catch 4G properly , then i removed the back cover and found it's A (D820) then went to regulatory information like you said found it's a (D821 )

what concerns us is what there is within the system and not back cover, so depending on the picture attached and what you said, the version D821 should run 4G, because the bands necessary are already exists. did you tried other SIM cards ( maroc telecom, meditel, inwi ) ? what did you get ? the same problem ?

i'm using ''maroc telecom'' thought i tried other Sim cards nothing has changed.
i tried inwi. it works well !
i don't know if i still have to activate any additional bands like band 8 and 20 ?
i talked to the guy that have posted the video in youtube and said that i need to activate band 20 if it isn't activated yet.
then talked to developer ''azlun'' who first succeeded to activate band 3 and 20 and said that if band 3 is already activated , but 4G still doesn't work properly , then i need to activate band 8 and 20 which is impossible due to hardware limitations.
what i really need to know what bands are used to connect to 4G in morocco ?
i already have band 3 and 7 activated.
if i have A D821 what others do i still have to activate ?

as i know in morocco, the telecom companies use 1800 Mhz and 800Mhz for LTE connection, which means bands 3 and 20, so the global version D821 has bands 3&20 already exists,and the two of them and you don't need to enable any bands! take a look here: D821 LTE bands : 1(2100), 3(1800), 5(850), 7(2600), 8(900), 20(800).
did you do this step ? calling service client of "maroc telecom" on 888 and tell them that the 4G doesn't work on your phone, and the will activate 4G connection for you, although you have a 4G SIM, you have to call service client of maroc telecom on 888 to ask them to activate LTE connection

like i said,
my Sim card has already 4G network.
i already called them.
the problem has to do with my device.
now, you just said Nexus 5 Model D821 has band 3 and 20 enabled.
and i tell you i used an app called LTE discovery to find out which bands my phone uses to connect to 4G i found band 3 and sometimes band 7.
if it's the global version why it doesn't use band 20 ?
maybe i need to enable band 8 or 20.
imma call service client f maroc telecom tomorrow and ask them which bands they rely on.
then, imma be taking the next step.
i will really need your help bro.

I'Ve Samsung galaxy j3 prime sm-j327t1 matropcs and its shows onlu 2g / E when switching to mobile data. I've 4G enabled SIM. when I did *#0011# it show following attached img. Ive checked the band with *#2263# band set to automatic and hpsa-rel9 sounds like ok but why the hell phone still is on 2g network when enabling data.

verify that you are in a location that gets a good signal and that it says you get 4g lte data. then goto connection settings>mobile networks and tap on network mode and choose the option in the screenshot. if it doesnt change do a factory reset. if that fails either get the stock rom from sammobile and flash it with odin or call samsung for a replacement. also verify that theres no upgrades or problems in your area by calling customer care and that your house doesnt limit your signal. my house sometimes limits mine due to it being metal all around. in that case putting your phone in a window fixes it. if you want to avoid that contact tmobile to get a signal booster for your house. update: in the *#2263# menu make sure to choose reset on both LTE and WCDMA in disable band.

It looks like we have the same problem,
After I root, unlock the phone.
Insert sim card
It will only show 2G networks.
I'm confused right now.lol

This phone doesn't have certain bands asia uses. you may need to buy the sm-j327u (samsungs unlocked version of this phone that can work on cdma and gsm carriers.) the sm-j327t1 was designed for the united states.

to fix this problem install (Force Lte Only).apk from play store go to phone information>Network mode>Select WCDMA ONLY!
it will fix the problem as well as you'll have all option enable i the network mode!

Need some help here, still stuck on 2G. Though I don't have a T-mobile sim card, the device is said to be unlocked (by @ashyx ), so I want to use my sim card. So what am I supposed to do (I've tried everything listed here so far, no luck)?

Have you checked which bands your network supports against the bands your device supports?
You may have to open the network settings and modify the bands if possible.
Also which firmware are you running, you may need to flash the modem from the orange firmware?

Ive tried to check the band with *#2263# & *#*#4636#*#* but not working this code , why the hell phone still is on 2g network when enabling data.

It probably might be the country your in but i don't know.

Suffering with the same issue
??????? it's been almost 2 years that I'm suffering with the same problem I bought this mobile in June 2017 in LA then I came back to my country in Africa I'm suffering I've never get 3g here but in USA even LTE was running. It's a piss of loss this mobile. We have to ask Samsung to recall it.

oneplus one - lte issues

Hi i have tried so many times restoring it back to cm 13.1.2 and i have had no luck i am stuck using 3g network and i get perfect signal could somebody please help me

I'm going to assume your carrier is an MVNO such as Metro PCS, the most problematic carrier with this device? If not, what carrier do you use?
Most of the times the fix is pretty simple. Go to Settings > Cellular Networks (make sure under Preferred network type LTE is selected) > Access Point Names and chose your correct APN. Is it jumping back to the incorrect one? Delete that incorrect one and any other ones that are related to the "parent" carrier and then chose the correct one. You can delete it by going into the APN as if to modify it and tapping the 3 dots on the top right. Can't find your carrier's APN? Delete all APNs one by one, then add yours, save and and select it.
If the above does not work, ensure that the OPO supports your carrier's bands, specifically for LTE.

What is the name of your carrier and in what country?

The name of my country is united king down and my carrier is tesco mobile

Sorry for the late reply. According to information I find on the web, Tesco Mobile uses Band 20 for 4G, which the OnePlus One does not support. Other websites mentions it using Band 40, but I believe this is based on the fact that O2 (the parent carrier) has obtained this band and may not be fully implement on the MVNO (Tesco Mobile). I would suggest calling them to find out what 4G/LTE band they use. If they use Band 20 (frequency 800MHz), you will only get 3G, or HSPA/HSPA+ (H or H+ icon for your data on the top right). If it supports Band 40 (frequency 2300MHz), then we can try and see what is going on that may be stopping your 4G/LTE from working.

Yes, sadly that means Band 20 for 4G LTE, which the OnePlus One does not support. You will only get 3G. Some carriers call HSPA+ "4G" because it can achieve decently high speeds for video streaming and so on, which isn't bad.
