great job at answering his question
anyways, read the sony whitepaper
6653: only quad-band 3G (no AWS 3G), LTE bands 1, 3, 5, 7, 8, 28, TD-LTE band 40
6603: penta-band 3G, LTE bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 13, 17, 20
looks like 6653 could be for a specific network/country (with the TD-LTE bands)
http://dl-developer.sonymobile.com/...ria_Z3_D6603_D6633_D6643_D6653_D6616_WP_1.pdf
Would the 6653 work with north America?
The reason is because it's for sale here from a local import shop.
Thanks a lot for your help.
It will work fine, on 3G. No LTE. D6653 LTE bands are utilized in India, Asia etc. North American LTE bands are not active on this device with the exception of band 5 which is supposed to be utilized by AT&T in some areas of NYC. AT&T uses bands 2, 4 and 17 elsewhere for LTE.
Is it possible to change the model number from 6653 to 6603? And if so how? Will it make a difference if you can?

If you flash 6603 firmware it will change the model number but no additional bands will be enabled. I gave that a shot last year.
Aww :c is There anyway to Add more bands To the Xperia z3?
I don't believe so. You could try this method:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/cro...ad-progress-please-leave-im-updating-t2871269
I have tried this on a couple Xiaomi devices and updated NV values stuck after reboot (requires root). No additional bands were enabled though.
6603 was made for North American market, right? And will work fine on AT&T?

Technically yes. My Xperia Z3 works perfectly on AT&T
Hi,
I brought a Moto G from India, before coming the US for doing my masters.
The thing is here it does not pick up 3G or 4G bands. It just works on EDGE.
I wanted to ask if i can use the QPST method to unlock the bands? because I can see no information on it in the forums(for this phone). I am especially confused since it says nothing about dual sim phones and this is the dual sim variant of moto G
It would be great if someone would guide me how i could unlock the bands on my phone.
Regards,
Naved.
I'm almost a 100% sure this wont work but try installing a USA stock rom and a USA stock kernel. But I think the problem is with Sim card though.
Thanks for the help man. I am currently on T-Mobile planning to switch to at and t soon. You think that it'll at least pick up 3g after that?

Dear Akonsand, finally do you know if I can use the QPST method to unlock the bands of the Moto G3 (XT1541)?
I have the same problem that you...
I'm bumping this just in case there are some news on the subject.
I'm stuck on EDGE with an XT1541 in Argentina and i'm not really sure of what to do... Is there some sub-forum with phone exchanges around the world?
Maybe someone's interested on a trade!
There were some successful attempts at unlocking the bands on the Moto E 2015, but for now there's no hope for the G...
How do you guys see it? Do we have any chance? Should we wait?
Thanks everybody!
Very interested as I have a xt1550 but am on o2 UK and would like to enable lte for this carrier

I am a little confused here... Your Indian model phone should get 3G in the US, but not LTE (I hate it when people say "4G", technically speaking even LTE isn't 4G but that is for another thread), in fact, assuming you have the correct SIM and APN settings, your model should get HSPA+ speeds. LTE is out though... let me explain
3G (HSPA/HSPA+) in the US is 850Mhz and 1900Mhz, in India it is 800Mhz and 1800Mhz, the Moto G supports all 4 of these bands, so it should work in the US just fine.
In the US, several bands are used for LTE such as 2, 4, 5, 12, 13, 17, 25, 26, and 41 (granted some bands are very limited or carrier specific), but in India LTE use is exclusively Band 40 by both Aircel and Airtel, and the LTE setup in the Moto G is specific for those countries and does not inter-operate.
So, long story short, with a GSM US carrier SIM and correct APN setup, you should get 3G HSPA+ data connections with no issues on your Indian Moto G, which is probably good enough for most uses and can exceed 8mbps down speeds in many areas.

Hey thanks for the reply man.
I think even HSPA or HSPA+ might not work for me on this phone. I am using a T Mobile family plan here, and comparing th bands given on the website:
"4G (HSPA+)
With 4G, theoretical maximum download speeds range from 21 Mbps up to 42 Mbps. You can take advantage of incredibly fast download speeds, and even use voice and data services at the same time.
Frequencies: Band 2 (1900 MHz), Band 4 (1700/2100 MHz)
3G (HSPA)
With 3G, theoretical maximum download of 14 Mbps. With 3G, you can use voice and data services simultaneously.
Frequencies: Band 4 (1700/2100 MHz)"
and the bands my phone supports(from the motorola website)
"Moto G (XT1550)
LTE (1, 3, 7, 8, 28,40) UMTS/HSPA+ (900, 2100, 850 MHz)
GSM/GPRS/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz)"
It seems that the uplink is unsupported by my phone and so the phone is unable to use the HSPA/HSPA+ bands. I think the only way to use it is to unlock the 1700 MHz band on my phone.
(BTW Tmobile quotes HSPA+ as 4G and thats hilarious lol)

Most us carriers say HSPA+ is 4G...
Tmobile is great in many regards, except if you have an international phone like the Moto G and they do not have the correct bands implemented in your area, which it appears they do not... Honestly, consider moving to AT&T Wireless or an AT&T based MVNO like Cricket, Straight Talk AT&T, or Go Phone, it might cost a little more but you could get HSPA+ with no issues. 850Mhz is AT&T's primary HSPA/HSPA+ frequency, and 1900Mhz is added to congested areas, but this varies by area... before going all in I suggest trying a SIM from a buddy or go the AT&T (corporate) store and ask to test a SIM just to be sure. But regardless you should get UMTS/GSM speeds on AT&T, which is way better than Edge, averaging anywhere from 500kbps-2mbps.
If TMo is essential or you can't change for whatever reason or live without HSPA+/LTE, consider getting a Blu phone or Moto E locally, they are relatively inexpensive (under $150) and are not amazing but will probably do the job.

so far i know these are hardware specs and cannot be unlocked or changed.i mean to say moto g 2015 has different variants based upon hardware specs of their band support
If you started using att with your xt1550 ..how is it? Do you get 3g or lte?
I didn't start using it. Currently stuck with a group plan.. But I tried using a friends sim card.. 3g does work well with at n t.

Unfortunately you can't unlock band 20 at the moment, in fact you might not ever be able to unlock the band. So if it's crucial for you to have band 20, buy a different phone.
However, it's a really nice phone, if if you don't necessarily need the specific band, then this phone is a good buy I believe.
ok thank's a lot
@ggkameleon,
I don't have this phone (yet ) But, my Telco uses Band 20 too.
What I intend to do is use my sim for phone calls/TXT's and get a 'Pay As You Go' LTE sim for Net access.
If you see the most good chines provider don't use B20 Mezu Xiaomi Lenovo why ? And other use it but it's not the more good smartphone or huawei use it but the price are expensive. When you see the last Xiaomi Redmi 3 Redmi note 3 and now MI5 very good smartphone and not expensive.
Hi din't know what is it a 'pay as you go' ?
But if your telco use b20 you can't have 4g lte in b20 ! But if use with b20 the band b7 or b3 the phone connect to b3 or b7 if ist possible or connect to wcdma in 3g network !
But i can't know why meizu pro 5 use the same soc exynos than galaxy s6 and the galaxy s6 work in b20 ! It's not possible to unlock b20 in meizu?

He meant he'll use a second, prepaid sim to get LTE from another provider who uses a different band. Although it's been said that using the dual sim function on this phone reduces battery life quite a bit.
Yes, if you don't have the correct 4G bands, but do have the 3G or 2G bands, your phone will be fully functional, just not have the best speed possible.
It's not just a matter of having the same soc, it's a combination of soc, radio and firmware. In some phones a workaround can be found to unlock the radio, others not.

Ah ! Ok but if they are a provider don't use B20 go it ! Don't use two provider ? Ok it's not possible to unlock.
Me in my country (France) They are 4 provider Free use 2600 for 4g, but it's a new provider and they are not many radio in 4g and even less 3g I test it's not possible. Bouygues use for 4g 1800 2600 and a little 800 it's the best for chinese smartphones but where I leave there are not radio Orange use for 4g 800 2600 and in radio there are two band in city but in campaign only 800 Sfr use 800 2600 and use a lot of 800 and it's actually my provider. I speak with users of chinese phone the best are Bouygues or Orange because the one don't use many 800 and the second if don't possible to use 800 the phone go to H+ (wdcma 900) and the speed of 4g 800 it's the almost the same of H+ wcdma 900 !?
If I buy a Xiaomi or Meizu I do change my provider but the smartphone do use the 3G Wdcma 900 ! I believe do use it.
The problem now it's Xiaomi block the boot loader of the new phones ? I see the new Redmi note 3 Pro it's a more good quality but It's more complicated to change language and don't use B20 ! I'm disappointed.... I stay to see what Xiaomi make for international customers.

Ok i understand
Yes it's not a good idea to use 2 different provider one don't use b20 and one use it !
Because if you have a provider don't use b20 go for this provider Because you paid 2 provider ! It's just if you are in contract you can make this option but it's more expensive.
In France all provider use b20 ! Only one don't use but there are not enought radio.
Thank you for your message I understand it's to complicated to unlock band and it's possible to use only in 3g.
Yes, too complicated or simply not possible with the hardware. Whatever the case, 3G can be more than sufficient.. I have never done anything with my phone that required more speed than 3G.
However, the phone does have a lot of other LTE bands, be sure to double check if there's not one that matches, it was the case for me.
1(2100), 3(1800), 7(2600), 38(2600), 39(1900), 40(2300), 41(2500)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_LTE_networks_in_Europe according to this, there should be enough in france that match to provide normal LTE operation.
Free Mobile is fine for Mi4c you know
I have LTE in outdoor in all Paris (indoor i'm always on wifi)
Thank you for your support and link
Actually my provider are Sfr (because I have a promotion for one year 10€ calls/sms unlimited ans 20go of data) and I do not want to break this wonderful contract
This provider use fifty/fifty FDD B20 800mhz/B7 2600mhz and UMTS B8 900mhz/B1 2100mhz
That good for Xiaomi Meizu FDD-LTD except FDD B20 800mhz
But there are a new problem with Chinese smartphones the Boatloder are lock now
I use Apple phones after Samsung with 3gs 4s and 5s but now the price of their phones are to much and not as high as the difference of Use Android phones ! It's stupid now to buy a smartphone than 800/1000$ it's not possible to my heart and my wife said go out of home if you buy it !!! Paid us a travel and buy another phones. she's right you know.
I like Xiaomi phones and I stay for the mi5......

The problem will be in a zone where the SFR antenna will deliver 4G only on the unsupported band, you will have only 3G.
That'all. So, it's up tio you to test in the main zone you are, what bands are used by SFR.

Yeah i read all that ...i was hopiing
thx tho....i can still use band 7 here LTE is doing great ...band 4 would be nice for full coverage especially inside building and metro ...
I bought Xiaomi mi4 64 gb from china last year. To my surprise only 2g network was connected and no 3g and LTE. I don't have much idea about it. I live in India, forget 4g, if there is any method through which I can connect my phone to 3g band I'll be grateful. If someone can explain me how to unlock all 3g bands and that will possibly connect the 3g band of India, it will be of great help. I have already used the phone in 2g network for a year and it's pain in the @ss. I found recently that by unlocking it is possible to use global bands. PLEASE HELP!!!!! THANK YOU!!!
Did you buy TD-LTE version? FDD-LTE is used in most countries.
Most probably YES
Probably Yes. Otherwise the problem of network might not be there.

Hi... Working with a brand new Moto G XT1548. Stock Rom stock everything.
Simple question is this, how do I get this sim Unlocked to accept any sim card. Right now its apparently a virgin mobile phone and says (nationwide sprint 4g lte network) on the box; which I assume is how it would work in the states. But I am not in the states.
Can anyone help me out here? Or just point me in the right direction.

Ok Virgin Mobile/Sprint is CDMA, the sim is for 4g LTE so this not a GSM phone. I suppose you could try contacting carrier you want to use and see if they can switch it for you, but I doubt it's possible/worth hassle.
All Moto G 2015's support basic GSM service, but have limited bands for HSPA and LTE, the XT1548 has very limited...
CDMA: 800, 850, 1900 Mhz
GSM: 850, 900, 1800, 1900 Mhz
UMTS/HSPA+: 850, 1700, 1900 Mhz
LTE: B2 (1900), B4 (1700), B5 (850), B12 (700), B17 (700), B25 (1900), B26 (850), LTE-TDD: B41 (2500)
To unlock the SIM you have to contact Virgin Mobile or buy a code from an unlock service online.

Have you had any success in using it in Nigeria here? I'm expecting the same phone soon and I have some confidence it could work since it supports GSM bands. However, if you've been able to use it I could use some help in how you did it. If not yet successful, just hang on, I'll figure it out when mine arrives. I helped get the Moto X Sprint unlocked here on XDA.

You will get 2G GSM service only (GSM900, GSM1800)... at best... No 3G, WCDMA/HSPA, or LTE. The Sprint versions are "tuned" to Sprint service, and not to global or other regions, and there is no unlock for the other bands. The Sprint Moto G 2015 is probably the worst possible you could get, unless you have Sprint service.

I see... Just like the Verizon Moto E 2015, which when unlocked could only get 2G service and data... Well, it's better than not working at all overseas... Thanks.

Maybe... The Sprint version is just just limited in hardware to very specific bands and frequencies for Sprints network and basic GSM service for roaming needs.
Good luck.
