[Q] Use LTE of an American Android Device in Europe - General Topics

Hi guys,
I bought a Moto G LTE (XT1040) in Colombia because my old phone broke there. I thought there'd be no problem using its LTE capacities in Europe as well. Bad luck. It doesn't since in Colombia/America they use different bands. Is there a way to make my XT1040 use European bands, just like the XT1039 (European Version) would? HSDPA+ works fine.
Some facts that might help:
The phone XT1040 only takes bands 4 and 7 (at least it says so on the box).
According to my provider, I'd need bands 7 and 20. But 7 isn't in use here in Germany yet, and in cities hardly ever will.
I haven't been quite successful in the Moto G forum here. But maybe it's also a rather general question that applies for other Android Devices as well. If I posted in a wrong forum, I'd ask the mods to move that thread accordingly.
Thank you in advance for your help.

Moto G LTE

Can anyone confirm that current Moto G 4G LTE sold here works in European countries?
The comparison chart of Moto G and Moto G 4G can be previewed here: https://forums.motorola.com/posts/4fa012ec47
By the chart the conclusion is that it can be used in EU, with the lack of LTE band coverage?
Their (Motorola's) agent isnt saying anything except that the chart is correct, however, they can only guarantee that it will work in US (since its US GSM version).
It would be great if anyone could confirm that he/she uses the device in EU and everything (with or without 4G/LTE) works.
Thank you.

[Q] Use American Moto G LTE (XT1040) in Europe

Hi guys,
I have been searching for it but I wasn't quite successful. Here my question and the facts:
I bought the XT1040 in Colombia, hoping LTE would work out fine in Europe as well. As I figured out later, the European versione (XT1039) is the only one which would be working on the LTE bands here.
Is there any way to sort of unlock my XT1040 or to make it work with other LTE bands? According to the box it works with bands 4 and 7. I need for cities in Germany band 20. Is there a way to make that happen or should I save money for a new one? Interestingly, HSDPA+ does work.
Thanks in advance!

[Q] Using US-purchased Moto G 2015 in Europe?

Hey everyone,
My friend is currently in the US and wants to purchase a phone that can be used both in the US and in Europe (more specifically in Hungary) as he's probably going to be travelling between the two continents. If he were to buy the phone through Moto Maker in the US, would everything (phone calls, 2g, 3g, 4g) work as it should? Or 4g wouldn't work? I'm confused by these band-related things.
Thanks in advance for the answers!

2G and 3G would work... 4G/LTE is a different matter entirely.
The "LTE Bands" refer to specific frequency space in the wireless spectrum licensed to carriers in various parts of the world. Your device must have support for the LTE band(s) used by your carrier in order to connect to their LTE service.
US Version supports LTE Bands 2, 4, 5, 7, and 17, these are commonly used LTE Bands in North America... In the European version LTE Bands 1, 3, 7, 8, and 20 are supported and are the most commonly used across the EU. Only 7 overlaps (note that 7 is not in widespread deployment in Europe, only certain carriers in specific areas use it), whether this is good enough would depend on the carrier that would be used in Europe.
You can check what carrier uses what bands here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_LTE_networks

[Completed] Problem with lte on my xperia x

Hello,
I'm actually from Germany, but i find this forum very useful..thats why i hope, you can help me with my problem.
I purchased a Sony xperia x online. Everything works fine except the LTE. It's very bad and unstable. I used an iPhone 6 plus before and there was no problem with lte.
I checked every setting, but everything seems fine.
I checked with the app Lte Discovery which lte band the device uses for lte connection and it said band 20. So i can be sure it has the Lte band 20, can't I?
I also found out on xpericheck that the installed firmware is for devices from switzerland.
So I want to ask you, if it's possible that the device doesn't really support band 20 because it's from another country? I haven't found any model of the xperia x online, which doesn't support lte band 20.
I would give you some screenshot but the forum doesn't allow me to do this.
Thank you in advance
Hi there and welcome to assist,
Give us more details about your device. Model number, firmware and so on.
You'll have to create an account to post in the main forums if you have any other questions.
Good luck

Getting 4G/LTE in different region

Hi all.!
I have a Moto G (3rd Gen) bought unlocked in Canada but am now living in the UK. I'm unable to pick up LTE coverage here and from reading online it seems to be that the LTE coverage here is sent out on different bands from that in Canada/USA.
Just wondering does anyone know of anyway I could resolve this?? I was thinking I would have to replace the radio or motherboard of the phone but I don't really know all too much about the topic!
Any info would be much appreciated!
Nope... band support is locked deep in the device, it's not just a flash modem X instead of Y... To date, no one has been able to even get close to unlocking other bands in one of these devices.
Honestly, you are just better off buying a new (or used) device locally.
