[Q] Use American Moto G LTE (XT1040) in Europe - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
I have been searching for it but I wasn't quite successful. Here my question and the facts:
I bought the XT1040 in Colombia, hoping LTE would work out fine in Europe as well. As I figured out later, the European versione (XT1039) is the only one which would be working on the LTE bands here.
Is there any way to sort of unlock my XT1040 or to make it work with other LTE bands? According to the box it works with bands 4 and 7. I need for cities in Germany band 20. Is there a way to make that happen or should I save money for a new one? Interestingly, HSDPA+ does work.
Thanks in advance!

[Q] How to differentiate between Moto G US GSM and Global GSM?

Hello,
My sister lives in Canada and is on the wind network, which uses the AWS frequency. I found out that the Moto G US GSm version will be compatible with Wind Canada (since it supports AWS).
I wanted to buy this as a gift for her birthday so I ordered the 16GB US GSM Moto G from amazon usa and posted it to her via UPS. She got it today but is having difficulty setting up internet, I mean it is supposed to "just work" right?
So I fear that maybe amazon has sent me the Global GSM by mistake.
is there anyway I can identify the phone? I mean will the about section in settings be able to tell me if its US GSM or global GSM?
Thank you
You can tell by the model number:
XT1032 Global GSM
XT1034 US GSM (T-Mobile)
If she gets Wind Home coverage, calls and texts, she's got AWS HSPA signal and the right model. Getting the internet to work from there is probably just a matter of checking APN settings.

[Q] LG G PRO 2 (D838) International Version - LTE CONNECTIVITY issues with AT&T

I am not able to connect to LTE Network in AT&T, I Have tried resetting the LTE settings and explored possible setups in Secret Menu. Still No luck.
If anyone has faced the similar issue, then please post the Step by step procedure, I have rooted and also flashed latest Stock ROM. Still no Luck.
if anyone has successfully connected to the LTE Network on AT&T using a custom ROM also, please let me know
Regards
John
I will owe you a beer if this can be cracked. :victory::highfive:
D838 does not have LTE Band 17 for AT&T only the F350 models have the correct 700Mhz support

is there anything at all that can be done?
I tried flashing the ROM and updating it to the Taiwanese edition, even though I'm able to see the band 17 in the hidden menu, I'm not able to choose it. When I try to choose Band 17 from the Hidden Menu, it displays a different band number.
Is there a way to get it to work?
John
According to pdadb.net, none of the F350 variants support NA 3G or LTE bands. The only G Pro 2 that support NA 3G and LTE bands is the D830. I can't find any retailers that sells it.
My F350L begs to differ. All F350x supports most North American HSPA and LTE band, with a notable exception of LTE band 4.
Here is a screen cap with Band 17 and phone model.

[Q] Use LTE of an American Android Device in Europe

Hi guys,
I bought a Moto G LTE (XT1040) in Colombia because my old phone broke there. I thought there'd be no problem using its LTE capacities in Europe as well. Bad luck. It doesn't since in Colombia/America they use different bands. Is there a way to make my XT1040 use European bands, just like the XT1039 (European Version) would? HSDPA+ works fine.
Some facts that might help:
The phone XT1040 only takes bands 4 and 7 (at least it says so on the box).
According to my provider, I'd need bands 7 and 20. But 7 isn't in use here in Germany yet, and in cities hardly ever will.
I haven't been quite successful in the Moto G forum here. But maybe it's also a rather general question that applies for other Android Devices as well. If I posted in a wrong forum, I'd ask the mods to move that thread accordingly.
Thank you in advance for your help.

[Q] May I use US moto g in UK? Any resolution?

I have just moved in UK from US, and I have moto g 3G, 6 GB US GSM from amazon. I got a sim card of EE mobile and I am able to use only 2G data and to make and receive calls, texts as well. The service I bought is "pay as you go" and offers 2 GB of 4G data, I was told if my phone doesn't support 4G will run 3G but I have only 2G, on the connection bar it stays just E which is edge.
Is it possible to flash or root the phone to be able to use the 3G at least? Any ideas would high appreciable.
I think the us moto g uses different frequencies for 3g. It's not possible to make it work as the modem doesn't support the right frequency.

You must be right there is a modem inside and won't be compatible with the Europe frequencies band.
Thank you very much. Cheers.
There are two models sold in US. XT1032 Global GSM and XT1034 AWS. The latter will probably not work in UK. If you have the former, make sure you have correct APN settings. Tweakker may be of assistance.
I have a retail.US (XT1032) and i live in Ireland and i have no problem with data, calls or messaging whatsoever (I'm on tesco mobile) . It should work in UK i suppose.

Add an additional LTE band on Moto G3

I have bought in Amazon a Moto G3, model xt1540, it has not the LTE band 3 (1800 Mhz) from factory. Is it possible to add this band to my phone?
Im in Venezueka and it works very well on LTE Movilnet or LTE Movistar, but this operators have a very bad signal on mi living area. Digitel is the best in signal for calls or texting, but my phone has not LTE band (1800Mhz) of them.
Thanks!
No, it isn't possible, well we haven't discovered a way yet (in almost a year)... Moto locked this down pretty well.
This has been attempted before, if you want to read up on it, the original thread is: http://forum.xda-developers.com/2015-moto-g/general/unlocking-bands-moto-g-2015-partially-t3283608
