Nfc not working with screen off.. help? - Xperia Z3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey fellow Z3 owners .. First of all. I freaking love this phone..
I did a quick search but could not find how to enable nfc to read my nfc tags with the phone asleep..
It works great with the phone not asleep, meaning screen off and pattern unlock..
but once the screen goes off and locks the phone..it will not work even if I hit the power button and turn on the phone..
I need to unlock the phone in order to use the nfc.. I have the nfc on all the time and even try it without any of the power management setting..
Any help will be greatly appreciated ..thank you in advance ???

NFC won't work while screen is off because of security
:good:

Just to confirm, this is more of a Custom ROM feature. No OEM enables this due to security. Otherwise leaving tags everywhere could be a potential for malware or Google Wallet stealing.
e.g. the screen on = you're most likely aware of what's happening on the device.

Are you rooted, running a custom ROM or using a custom Kernel?
If not this seriously is a known issue usually because the Sensation is underclocked to 1.2ghz causing sleep/wake issues. Usually fixed by adjustable sleep settings when rooted.
But if you're not rooted then maybe someone else here can provide more indepth answers/help for you. Goodluck!

[Q] Is there any defective LG optimus 3d ?

Anyone read whether there is any defective LG optimus 3d out there?
or any issues ?
I had an xperia X10 SE phone before it lasted 12 month and right after an upgrade i could not enable the phone anymore as it reloop on restarting.
Many had the same problem (many as in 1000+ people posted).
I don't want another new phone from SE like last one because it have a defective motherboard and can't hold off on a new update which they did right after warrant goes off.
these are expensive phones...hope they last longer then 2 years at least.
just to be on the safe side, thank you.
my phone had the corners of the screen with yellow halos, I have replace them with a new one. alright now!

The phone just keeps rebooting by itself if you leave wifi on, I just got mine back from warranty, I was told the issue has been fixed, last night I left a web cam on the phone to record, I checked this morning and the phone have restarted 4 times, excatly like before, Stay away from LG, if you want a reliable phone buy something else.
Try changing wifi sleep policy. Go to settings-wifi settings. Then press menu button and choose advanced. There you'll see wifi sleep policy. Select never.

You miss the point ,this setting maintains the wifi at all times-it prevents the phone from going to mobile data.

I think you are the one missing the point. He, as I, have the wifi sleep policy to "never", and that's the reason it restarts.
with setting never sleep the phone restart
with setting standby wifi off the phone doesn't restart
this is a proble of v10k firmware, not of the O3D. with the v10e firmware i didn't had this problem
One question, tropbel:
Did you find that with the standby wifi off policy activated, the phone lags to authenticate or just keeps searching ignoring known hotspots?
i don't try any lag, when the screen goes on just a few second and the wifi is ready. it's a normal time in my opinion.
think few second to activate wifi is a resonable time to wait
I have a problem with multitouch in the sense that when I play games with war as a modern combat or the like, sometimes I get stuck movements and I have to remove and replace the finger on the virtual pad to keep playing. It also happens to others? I hope that I explained. Sorry for the bad English.

[Q] HTC Inspire 4g Cyanogenmod 7 - Phone wont wake up

Every once in a while the screen will stay black and the power button will have no effect on the phone. Even if i was just on it, Yes its fully charged. But if someone calls me the phone comes out of its "locked up / sleep state". I was curious as to why it does this. Im going to basic training in about a month for the army and was told to bring my phone as to the DS can choose to let me use it or not. Id hate to not be able to use my cell if i bring it.
Im using CYanogenmod 7 Rom
Im not quite sure any other imformation i should provide. But i will respond as quickly as i can to your responses.
THanks.
i just noticed i posted this in the wrong forum, although i cant figure out how to delete this post -_-

Face Unlock

Anyone using this
I wanted to try it and found out you have to set a bu pin if face isn't recognized. Is there a safety issue with this as when flashing roms etc, the face unlock may get lost and the pin don't work. Or, is it pretty failsafe.
Also, thought I read somewhere about some issues with Chrome to Phone--had it working fine on N1. Is it running good on One S?
BTW video streaming to my Sony LED Bigscreen was flawless
I thought you lose these settings when flashing roms...

You are correct sir.
The 2ndary line of protection (pattern unlock, pin, etc.) is just for conditions where the face detection won't work. Try it in light situations that are not broad daylight and you will see that this is an obvious shortcoming of face unlock. There is no front flash, and if there was I would not like to be blinded by it so if it fails to detect your face / any face at all it will just ask for pin/pattern.
Appreciate the replies
I was going to play with it, but may pass it up. Don't need to lose unlock pin thru flashing and be stuck
Would like to get back to Chrome To Phone, but will research a little more on any issues--

I don't think you understand, if you flash a new ROM, face unlock and pin won't be activated, you will need to set it up again.

I understand that, thanks
Just concerned on odds of the pin being messed even if not by flashing rom, recovery or by anything else--OCD
Maybe that never happens--

Try Chrome Beta. It has Tab Syncing which is arguably better than Chrome 2 Phone because you don't even have to hit send.
I was using both successfully on my N1. Just had read some issues with the beta on the One S. Maybe just a few folks and no big issue. I will give it a shot and see. I have both on phone now, just haven't set them up yet.
Ken
I think your concern over the face lock is a bit misplaced.
1. Anytime you are installing a brand new ROM you should have done a full wipe of the device anyway which means you would have to re-setup your security features as these are not backed up in any way.
2. If the it cant get a face recognition it defaults to the basic android pattern or pin screen just like any other phone, it is not a special screen or lock. And, just like any other android phone if you forget your pattern or pin it is just going to prompt you to enter your gmail address and password to gain access after which it would have you redo your security options.
3. Worst case scenario: you are totally locked out and gmail address and password don't get you in....hard button reset and then restore from Titanium Backup. If you are flashing new roms I assume you are using this anyway.
did read about gmail password getting you in
haven't played with feature yet
appreciate info

[Q] Bypassing the lock screen if the phone is still unlocked?

Hello, I recently bought a Galaxy S6 after using my Nexus 4 for almost 2 and a half years, it was a trooper. One feature that I absolutely loved on my Nexus was that if my phone was not locked (does not require pin to enter phone) then it would skip the lockscreen entirely and go straight to what I was doing last. However on the Galaxy S6, If you put the phone to sleep, upon waking it up you are put back on the lockscreen, having to swipe up to enter. I still want my fingerprint to get me into the phone and for it to lock after a set amount of time but I want a way to go straight into the phone without the lock screen if the device is still unlocked while using a pin/fingerprint when it locks. Is there any way I can do this?

Something is definitely a bit funny here. I'm finding the same when using Smart Lock. I'm in a trusted place and I have swipe up on the lockscreen then use my fingerprint to get in. Surely it should be one or the other, preferably just swipe if its in a trusted place.

It's smart lock, don't think it's ready or works with fingerprint security S6 the moment...try it with a pin or pattern, and a trusted device.

Yep thats it. How annoying. Fingerprint sensor is one of the selling points. Guess I won't use smart lock for the time being.
