FuguMod Ultra
This is by far the best Kernel I've used in my SG3. I had stuck to the FuguMod 2.2 Bleeding Edge version for quite a long time, and I was terribly missing the 1% Battery MOD. And I learned the hard way, that the FuguMod 2.4 Alpha 14 (the other kernel that can be Overclocked to 1.3GHz & has the 1% MOD) has a huge battery drain problem.
This one right here, which was prescribed to me by marcellusbe is amazing!
The battery life is great, even after being overclocked to 1.3GHz. Its pretty stable (No Freeze/ForceClose issues so far), and the phone has almost completely stopped lagging. The phone isn't heating up even @ 1.3Ghz. Scored 15+ in Linpack and got a Quadrant Score of 900+ [Check Signature for Screenshots ].
All the ROM makers out there should check this one out!

Created By : marcellusbe
P.S : This is NOT the official release of the Kernel. Marcellusbe will bring out the last build of the Bleeding Edge Ultra Edition after testing out other frequencies and adding a few extra features like the Voodoo Sound Recording. Wait for it
For more details, head over to the Official Thread.
Ok, I will check that out.. thanks for posting!
Edit:
great kernel! Really speed things up!
I have set it with SetCPU to 975 MHz for a stability and speed.
and option is on demand.

I'm not sure. But there is no risk of a hardbrick... There is no bootloader in the kernel

Hmm. Don t know why marcellusbe didn t include this in his thread.
@Jazux : - Cool banner.
It's the last build of the bleedingedge ultra edition .. I didn't released it yet since I wanted to test others frequencies and add some features (like voodoo sound recording) but you can use it.
Attention : it could not work on all device because of high overclocking.
Last note about this kernel : it has a bug in the battery driver (well it's not really a bug but a side effect of the overclocking) .. it show 100% battery full after some minutes even if the battery is not full ...

Okay so I just installed this kernel and it's absolutely epic. You remember that thread I made with the skipping music? Well I'll have to ask Haree to delete it now because it was probably the kernel. Using this kernel i had Angry Birds Rio AND Poweramp running music and it didn't skip a beat. I'm using Krillos 5.7 and the new setcpu seems to have some new governors! Savagedzen, smartass and minmax. I'm using SavagedZen and it's running very very nice. It would also appear that it has the option to undervolt within it! and to think i was considering changing to a stock rom....pffff
Edit: Just added doing a full titanium backup to that list of stuff going on at the same time and STILL no music stuttering!

Hi all. I've spent more time than I should over the past week or so looking through these forums (thank you all for the amazing amount of work that's been put in), but really haven't been able to figure out the answer to the following question: What's the best configuration for this phone?
I've been running EaglesBlood, which is OK but somewhat buggy (battery drain, random turning on of phone button lights, etc). Is there any configuration that's stable, fast, and decent?
SINGH-UI + Mazout360 Kernel
I am very happy with my setup:
SINGH-UI MIUI with Mazout360's kernel
I was using Faux123's 054 kernel with lg voltage which was working very well but Mazout's kernel is newer, faster and fixes a wifi issue that was causing reboots when turning wifi-related stuff on and off. I'm still testing it for stability but so far so good.
I haven't tried the ICS and Jelly Bean ROMS.
vanilla cm7 w/ mazouts kernel
"my mind draws lots of blanks actually"
Pardon my ignorance, but I don't quite understand how one can be running cm7 (or SINGH-UI MIUI) and mazout's kernel. Aren't they different roms? I'm missing some basic understanding here.

A kernel is just a layer that interacts between the ROM and the physical hardware.
Like a car:
ROM = Body
Kernel= Engine
You can pull the engine and put it in a different body.
Poor analogy probably lol

Apps like to sync in the background. These settings can be changed to be turned off or run at a different interval of time. The mazkrnl and cm7 nightly has gotten me beyond 24hrs of use, but I think it can go beyond that with the right settings. I believe it could last a week or more. That clear it up?

I'm also fairly new to all this and I would just like to offer some tips:
1. ensure you have the newest baseband before doing anything
Check your phone (Settings->System->About phone) Should be March 2012 Baseband
If you don't have the new baseband, there are a few tutorials such as this one
2. Install ROM and kernel if needed
3. Install the recommended google apps zip as instructed
4. Install GetRIL from app store and use it to install matching RIL
5. I believe you should Install a cpu control app for power saving (I'm using Antutu CPU master)
You could install kernel last. ROMS come with their own kernels.

I installed CM 7.2 and gapps with no issues, but Mazout's kernel doesn't seem to be loading. I get a "Problem loading widget" error. What might I be doing wrong?
I have some problems with the OPO nothing big:
Connection to a headphone often dont work, it plays but i cant here it.
Flashlight gesture ON is often not working, i think it just dont wake ups the phone, OFF works fine.
Using: ParanoidAndroid4.5B1
Anybody has the same problems? My phone is undervolted to -87mV, but i dont think thats the problem.
Is your headphone... happen to be a headset? (with a microphone)?
The flashlight gesture on/off is a ROM problem (or maybe its just you) you have to ask in your respective ROM thread to be sure.
What kernel are you using?

I had a similar problem when it comes to headsets. Try this, plug in the headphone jack very slowly until you hear a "static" pop when you hear it, leave it there for a couple seconds and then plug the jack fully in. When you hear the static pop, 1-2 seconds later it should start playing the music.
I prefer Franco Kernel but currently I'm testing AK Kernel as Franco hasn't been updated for awhile so I'm going around testing what other kernels have to offer. AK kernel seems to have this problem resolved, give that kernel a try and see if your headphone problem still occurs.
Well I don't use PA so I can't really help you with that. Its most likely a ROM problem if the gestures are enabled.
I heard of someone whos phone often got hot in his pocket, because the flashlight was activated by this gesture in his pocket. Maybe they tried to fix this and this is a bug..?

They fixed this in the 30O OTA. They've made it so it uses a proximity sensor so if its blocked, gestures are disabled.

It works with AK? .... yeah AK you kind of need a tweaking app, their default settings aren't optimized. It still has mpdecision on even though intelliplug is in the kernel. Thats one thing I like about Franco Kernel, it doesn't have as many customizations for the kernel but the default settings are very optimized so it works good out of the box. For AK, I have to customize everything to my liking including intelliplug, governors, etc.

Odd... Ak fixed my audio problem.
I'm having a similar problem, no audio through headphones.
I'm on PA and AK.
I thought it was to do with PA so posted my issue there, but now I think it may be the kernel.
Also I get audio output at first it goes away when I get a notification(audio), but that too is very random, some notifications don't affect it some do.
Only a reboot fixes it temporarily, till another notification triggers the issue

For me personally I find that OC helps out a bit with heavier apps like Chrome, YouTube, and games but if you see no reason to add it then that's cool.
You should test it out yourself maybe and see if you like it.

I noticed some battery drain over night after installing the kernel yesterday.. usually i lose 0 to 1% but now i got from 79 to 68% nearly 10%
EDIT: it was v1.0 of the kernel..
Sent from my Nexus 5X using XDA Labs
Just tried out v1.1 yesterday and was loving it until I encountered this odd malfunction.
running the latest PixelRom, I would go to play audio over my 3.5mm AUX jack, and it would play the first song just fine, then all subsequent songs just wouldn't play, even though the phone said it was, in fact playing.
To get it to work again, I would have to remove the aux cord and re plug it in or completely kill the music player app; and even then, I would only get 1 additional play.
This was occurring on multiple music players until I flashed back over to the Franco kernel, so I'm inclined to think it has to do with your kernel.
Keep up the good work though! I loved the performance I was getting on your kernel, seemed nice and agile
How is the battery life on this kernel? I am considering trying it out but I am a little uncertain if the battery will hold up.
What did some of you guys achieve on standby and screen on time?

I never take care of stats like SOT or anything similar because I think that they're too objective and variable to be considered as a reliable source of information. Anyway, I noticed a significant improvement in battery life since I'm using this kernel (this improvement is to be considered in comparison to all the other kernels, since I've tried all of them). However, remember that the battery life is 99% objective so take this information with a pinch of salt.

We have plenty of options for kernel, lets get a discussion going on what we like/prefer and why
Currently i switch between Radioactive and Franken as they seem to give me the best performance and battery life i have yet to come to a conclusion on which i prefer or will use as my DD so i constantly switch between the two.
I've tried them all as well. I'm currently on Havoc with Smurf kernel and it has been solid. When I was running Franken ROM with the stock kernel is was also solid. Most of these kernels give me around the same battery life. I switch between Franken and Havoc. I like Havoc because there are more options and it has Android P toggles which are way nicer.
