So, I just finished replacing my Nexus 5's display with another one that I purchased from a repair shop. I purchased the all-in-one frame/LCD display so that I could just gut my old phone and put it into the new one.. anyway you get it.
But now I have no sound (in or out) whatsoever. No sound from the loudspeaker, no sound from the earpiece, no sound through headphones... everything else (wifi, 3g/4g, bluetooth, nfc, gps, accelerometer, proximity sensor, light sensor, vibrate motor) appears to be working fine after a couple of hours of testing.
I have tried disassembling and reassembling it to make sure that I followed each and every step to the letter. I have also tried flashing stock Android 4.4.4, but I still don't have any sound input or output.
Does anyone have any ideas?

I just upgraded to my Atrix 4G to Smart Light ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2292347 and it works very well. :good:
I only met one problem
Normally, I use my earphone (no mic) during phone calls.
With this ROM, everything is fine when the screen is on.
When the screen is off automatically,
the sound is muted in the earphone, but the call is still on.
The sound is back when I turn on the screen.
Anyone has similar experience?
Is there some settings or tricks to solve that?
Thanks!
Wei
Hi everyone, I'm here today to explain a very annoying issue with my OPO. I notice you that I have already tried every ROM and Kernel combinations, including the restore of the official ROM from fastboot. And yes, i've tried also a device reboot, of course!
So, from yesterday my OPO suffer of these problems:
- When I receive a call or make a call I can't hear anything in the headset. If I use the speaker, it works very well;
- The proximity sensor is switched on during a call but if I cover it the screen does not turn off;
- dial pad touch tones doesn't work;
- touch sounds doesn't work;
- screen lock sounds doesn't work;
The strange thing in this whole mess is that the ringtones work and feel perfectly, even the alarm.
Also, i've tried with some application such as audio manager or audio control to to control system sounds and lift them to the maximum level.
Now it's your turn, please help me to find the solution!

my problem was caused by MiClick. I didn't install the MiClick application after a full wipe so i was not able to hear any system sound because my 3,5mm port was always busy by MiClick such as a pair of earpieace
Hi everyone,
I've been on stock roms since I got my Nexus 5 (almost two years, so it's still on warranty [local law]), and since I updated to 6.0, I started having issues with the proximity sensor. Sometimes it wouldn't turn off the screen in calls, and it would generally stop working (I use gravity screen, which relies heavily on the proximity sensor, so that allowed me to become more aware of the problem. The proximity sensor would resume normal operation after a while.
I googled the issue, and apparently it's common since the 6.0 update, so I assumed a software bug. Anyway, last night the problem got worse. For example, if I was playing a video on youtube, with audio coming from the speakers (didn't try with headphones), the video would go silent. It can happen during playback (suddenly it just goes silent) or you start the video and it is silent. Other media apps report the same behaviour. This is an on/off problem, as it might or might not occur.
Also, during calls, it also started silencing the phone speaker. As with all the problems I reported, this is on/off. When the phone speaker is silent, the proximity sensor stops working. When this happens, I'm able to use the speaker phone to actually engage in the conversations.
Another thing that is really weird is that, if a media app stops reproducing sound (although sound should be playing), and I start a phone call immediately, the phone speaker will not emit sound but if I change it to speaker phone (audio coming from the speakers) the speakers work fine!
I've since flashed CWM recovery and a cyanogenmod snapshot (cm-12.1-20150901-SNAPSHOT-YOG4PAO237-hammerhead.zip) and the problem persists!
I'm writing this thread in the hopes that someone might know a fix for these issues, or if someone knows if these are common. Otherwise, I'll have to send the phone for warranty...
I searched around for this problem and couldn't find a reference to it. I was not very thorough, however, so I apologize if I missed something.
TL;DR - Having some issues regarding the proximity sensor (it stops working and resumes working for no reason) and when this happens, no sound comes out of the phone speaker during calls and no sound comes from the speakers during media playback. When the problem happens during a call, the speaker phone can be activated to interact with the other person. Does anyone know anyone that might be experiencing the same issues?
Thanks!
OK here goes - if someone could help I'd really appreicate it...
Galaxy S7 Edge - light drop resulted in smashed screen. Did a screen/frame replacement myself... which worked a treat.
However have noticed that the loudspeaker now no longer works... So no ringtone, music on media play or alarm etc. Also did the *#o*# speaker test - again no sound on speaker (Receiver test on internal speaker is fine)... just the main external loudspeaker which has packed up.
Wondered if I'd blown/damaged during my screen install/phone drop - so I bought a new loudspeaker - but to no avail, still no sound.
So then I checked both my original & the freshly bought new speaker in both a multimeter and via hooking them up to another phone - BOTH UNITS WORKED! - So at least I know that the speaker units that I'm using are both fine. But put either back into my phone and no sound! ARRRGHHH
Have flashed (via Odin) G935FXXU1BPLB_G935FBTU1BPK3_BTU (v6.0.1 UK) - again no sound. Have additionally since let phone auto-update to 7.0 via OTA update - but again still no sound.
All other functions on phone are perfect (including listening to media/music via headphones).
Looking on web, I see a few people experiencing no sound since screen replacement and or flashing and I have tried the host of suggestions offered - everything from pause music and reboot, reboot with headphones in/out, toggle Power Save mode on/off, toggle Bluetooth on/off, clean out the headphone jack (sound works fine coming through headphone jack BTW just main speaker that wont play anything) and ensured speaker pads are definately contacting the mainboard pins etc.
The only thing I've not been able to yet try is "Emergency Software Recovery and initialization" via Smart Switch as Smart Switch simply freezes whenever I select this option (no follow up pop up window) - though phone is recogniosed.
Anyone else expericence this kind of no sound issue? or know of a sensible (cheap!) solution.
Regards
Mike
Think I've managed to find problem myself - if not solved it... sadly.
Used an old loudspeaker from a long since unused phone - soldered up a couple of wires to the terminals for ease of handling and turned on my phone - ran the speaker test (*#0*#) so continuous sound playing (if not heard!)... touching the wires from the bodged loudspeaker on the main PCB mainboard terminals got nothing, though then grounding one wire elsewhere and hey presto - sound once more from my phone!
So looking like a cold solder on the main PCB mainboard!... Reflowing is beyond me, so I now need to hunt around for a decent company who do PCB repairs!
Not quite the 'Have you tried wiping the cache' fix I was hoping for unfortunately... Not sure if PCB damaged in the drop or in the screen repair - but thought would post findings in case someone with exact same circumstances etc.
Regards
Mike
I have an original Pixel XL on Android 10. The earpiece speaker is broken. (I damaged it putting in a new screen, I broke the screen putting in a new battery, don't want to take it apart again)
I am looking for some way to always have the Speaker on by default. I have tried various auto speaker apps and none work. I have disabled sensors, trying to stop proximity sensor. Nothing works.
What is really frustrating is when I try and google a solution all I get is 'My phone always uses speaker how to turn off' I have tried a few auto record apps too as some people have had them use the speaker, no luck.
Any help would be appreciated.
