Hi all,
I wasn't able to find any threads related to this in the S6 forums but I wanted to see if anyone else has this. When I open my camera app, sometimes the camera takes 1-2 seconds to initially focus and during that time it makes a loud buzzing sound. It sounds like a focus motor or something in the camera and the camera output on screen flutters while it focuses. Once it focuses, everything is normal and it doesn't make any more noise to refocus. This also doesn't happen every time I open the camera app, seems mostly random. Has anyone else experienced this? I am already on my 2nd S6 since the first was defective for different reasons and I'm starting to get very disappointed with Samsung quality control.
I have the dame problem.
I don't know if this is normal.
I don't think so
Waiting for some explanations

going to bumps this too because after having the phone for a month this problem has just started to show its face.
I've first noticed a small buzzing just after a boot for 3/4 times and than I had a long one opening the camera. After that it's gone...
I have it also! Started a couple of days ago. I have dropped my phone a couple of times. What about you?
Had this happen for the first time today also. Had hdr off, switched back on and it went away. Coincidence? Phone never dropped.

Try to clean up your camera lens.
Did your device take some damage in the past?
Did you take it underwater? (The S6 isn't waterproof anymore...)

But it's not that loud.
Otherways, you can't record videos properly, because the microphone records those sounds.

Same problem here since last week.[emoji26]
I tried hard reset and another camera app (Google photo), nothing work.
I think it's a hardware problem, it occurs after shaking the phone and launching the camera.
I feel that the OIS makes more noise when app is off.

This started happening with my S6 today. I think it's the OIS that poops out. I can make this happen with a light tap with my finger on the backside of the phone with the camera open and using the rear camera. And this happens with all camera apps: Samsung's bundled camera, Snap Camera and Camera FV-5.
Update: ..and just as sudden this started happening, it went away again. I hope it's a bug - with a fix in 5.1.1.
Update 2: No, it didn't go away. It comes and goes. I may need to take the phone to the service centre.
Mine has gotten worse. Almost every time I open the camera now, I have the buzzing.
Just checking in to say that mine started doing this, too, about four weeks after getting it. It does it randomly when I open Snapchat, too.
I am having this problem too on the Sprint version sometimes it is pretty loud. I'm planning on taking to service center I think.
I also get the waves before it focuses. I read on another forum that someone said they went to a Samsung service center and Samsung replaced their OIS sensor so I'm guessing this may not be something that is simply part of the design.
*Update #1*
I just got off the phone with Samsung customer service. The representative actually heard the buzzing from my phone over the phone while I was talking to her. Since the phone is still under factory warranty they are emailing me a shipping label to send the phone back for repair.
I also have Asurion insurance through Sprint but do not want a refurb for a phone that is less than a month old with no damage caused by me.
Unfortunately the turn around time from Samsung is about a 5 business days and that was after they told me 9-11 days in which I said I couldn't be without a phone that long.
So, I plan on going to Sprint to see if they will swap out my phone for a brand new one. I think if it is a manufacturer defect they will replace the phone without going through insurance for a refurb but I am not positive. It they won't swap it out for a new one I will go through Samsung.

Yes it appears to be hardware related.

I tried and initially it doesn't seem to happen when the mega pixels are lowered but I haven't tested extensively.
I went to Sprint today and the technician concluded that he was ordering me another phone so definitely seems hardware related.

Hello folks,
i got this mobile 5 months and for now i got this big problem with my cam.
Everytime i shoot any image with light at backround and with HDR on i got many "pink" pixels. When i turn HDR off its better, but if i zoom the image at maximum level ( in photoshop ), i see "blurish" dots right there where are "pink" dots with HDR on.
I got the question: May i turn it back to RMA or its just a SW problem?
Bootloader : xxxxxBPLM
PDA: same
CSC: TMZ1BPI1
Baseband: BPHK
android: 6.0.1
kernel: [email protected]#1 64-bit
CAMERA: 12.2MP/SLSI_S5K2L1_FIMC_IS
I see that other people have some problems too, but they got it repaired by newer software update, but i dont see any updates for me just for now. Only the android nougat is coming maybe for a couple weeks in my country ( T-mobile CZ got every update with looooong delay )
Sorry about my bad english
In attachment is a zip with photo i shoot last month.
Common issue with HDR enabled, Samsung will RMA your phone for it but usually comes back with the same problem as it's a hardware fault

Oh no...
Today i contact helpline and they told me to send them pictures with pink dots. I did it and tomorrow they will contact me with next steps.
Is there any fix for it? Maybe another cam firmware? Anything else than sending it to RMA and get another with same symptoms?
Truly dissapointing, i spend lot of money to get better photos from cell phone and i got fast camera with supreme range with a bonus....pink dots...
Anybody whos got S7 at nougat? Maybe nougat help with this?

Some are better than others, mine only has 1-2 pink dots with HDR, none in normal mode
No fixes, just replacements, Nougat doesn't affect hardware problems

I got this only when i use HDR...in normal mode got no pink dots, but blemish dots at maximum zoom.
Samsung help line wrote me back to do factory reset...if that wont work i must go to nearest reseller to RMA.
I think that all CMOS senzors got this problems, but in DSLR is function to do some cleaning ( remapping bad pixels ) but in mobile camera i never see this function, so you all got this problems with camera? I dont know what to do...RMA it? Or not?
But many thanks for help!!!
Factory reset will not work, it is a hardware problem
RMA if you want, you might get one with less hot pixels, but might get one with worse

After "nougat" update are all hot pixels gone... No problem in HDR ON mode with zoom, no problem with HDR at brighter places. Everything work !
Hey, All,
I've noticed that some of my recorded videos will have a few seconds of stuttering/frame dropping at certain points. I'm in airplane 5 mode when shooting, and I have plenty of storage available. It's absolutely unacceptable not being able to predict when this may happen and what may cause it.
Here's a clip of it acting up: https://youtu.be/b15FaXWr8MM
Has anyone else had this? I seem to remember this being an issue on my Pixel 2XL as well...
If a third party party app would prevent this, I wouldn't mind trying.
Thanks,
Matt!
If you follow my thread I post a few days ago I had same problem. And Google had me go back to the original version of the camera app that came with the phone
Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
Have the same problem. We bought 2 x Pixel 3 XLs and they both have this problem.
Also had this problem on my previous phone, the Pixel XL
Any solutions?

Pixel 3 warms up quickly, and when it does it will throttle CPUs heavily causing all sorts of video drops if Android starts doing something in the background as the phone can't keep up. Maybe it's something Google can improve in software but I doubt it. Just feels phone is thermally compromised somehow.
I bought myself a Note 20 Ultra Snapdragon Version (Hong Kong Version). After around 2 weeks right we’re the proximity sensor is, a dark discoloration started to appear. It’s not super good visible, but still it was there. I tried to overlook it but couldn’t. So i started a repair/exchange process. After a huge war to get a perfect device the shop where i bought the mobile exchanged it with a new one. But again after 1 week this weird dark spot started to appear. Sometimes the splotch is faintly visible, sometimes he is very visible. Now i have payed 1300 Dollars but can’t have a perfect display. Anyone having the same issue?

Ask yourself , what rogue apps are you heavily using that cause this issue. These things normally occur during using VoIP apps on high brightness with screen left ON for long durations. Heat , bright screen and VoIP apps that use the proximity sensor continuously degrade it.
User KURDking posted about similar issues on this forum a month or so back.

First i use the mobile on very low brightness since i got it. Secondly i used nothing like the apps you described. So i can’t see how i caused this. And I’m not the only one. There are other cases with exactly the same issue. It’s a design flaw.
I forgot to mention that i carefully checked the battery temperature and cpu temperature all the time to avoid unnecessary strain on the display and the internals. But still after a short time on both mobiles the same issue.

Lol i own the mobile max 2 weeks. In this two weeks i watched videos. I used whatsapp for texting (maybe 2-3 phone calls). I used a video player to watch download videos, but i used nothing that would have left the display on for a long time with the proximity sensor working. I used the phone more for media, because i still own my iPhone 11 pro max for phone calls and alike. Hence i can’t explain why this is happening. I’m the first one who would say yeah i used the apps you mentioned on high brightness all the time, but that’s not the case.

Btw your sarcastic questions are unnecessary. If you think your clever and everyone else is a moron, nice for you. But the Note 20 Ultra is not my first mobile, and i know what to avoid, and what to do in most cases. But when i get the same issue two times in less than 2 weeks without doing anything maybe causing this, i think it’s ok to ask if anyone else is having the same issue.

No worries bubba. I hope you find an amicable solution soon.
Yeah every n20u has it. Some people just don't have the eyes to see it or choose not to / conditioned to ignore it.
I can see it on demand but I forgot it was even there till this thread. No way around it, it's a design flaw of this generation.
My n10+ isn't visible unless it's being used but what can we do, Nothing.
My US Note 20 Ultra has that as well. I didn't notice it for 3 months, then there it was. It is from the proximity sensor, and it's only visible in dark environments, and on days when I've had long calls. Other times, it's not visible at all and I'm guessing the sensor is under the screen and that the visible flashing causes it to slightly offset the AMOLED pixels. Every Note 20 Ultra I've seen also has image retention issue (not to the point of burn in) but high contrast images fade off the screen for about 5-10 seconds and this is only visible on gray backgrounds. Looking for a "perfect" one may be a waste of time.
Hello everyone! I just got my POCO X4 Pro 5G phone yesterday. I absolutely love using it to bits.
However, I noticed that while browsing through content on medium (40 - 50%) brightness, the phone does not actually go fully dark. Some parts are lit up while others are not. (On dark videos and imagery, it is noticeable enough to really bother me even on just my first day of use.)
To elaborate on my point, I have downloaded a completely black picture and displayed it on my phone.
I have attached the photos below.

Setup. (This is the phone displaying a completely black image on my gallery)
Lights off (Captured on my Samsung A50 normal mode)
Lights off (Captured on Night Mode)
I have tried to capture it on video, but it is simply not visible enough on video to be worth your time. You'll simply have to trust that I indeed downloaded a completely black image and displayed it on my gallery. (I wouldn't be posting here for no reason if I was lying, wouldn't I?)
Anyway, it is worth noting that on both higher (60-70%) and lowest (0-10%) brightness, the issue disappears completely (e.g. the screen completely shuts off as expected.) but then some of it return on maximum brightness.
Now I can definitely use the screen all the time on these settings, but I also want to ensure the longevity of my AMOLED screen, and it would suck to always be watching content on effectively only two brightness settings.
I have tried using AMOLED Fixer apps on Google Play but to no avail.
Does anyone else have this issue? Do you think it is fixable through software? Should I return the phone to POCO before it's too late?
Thank you for any responses in advance.
I am not able to reproduce this on my device. I've tried all brightness levels, no weird spots on my end. Maybe you should RMA your device. But let's wait and see if anyone else is having this issue.

Thanks for your input. I did find someone on reddit having a similar problem to mine, on his mi 11 lite. Unfortunately, the solution offered on his replies does not exist on my phone's settings (I can't find P3 anywhere).
https://www.reddit.com/r/Xiaomi/comments/ouqbws
This makes me feel like it could be a software issue, and I'm really liking everything else about the phone so far so I'm still thinking twice about going through the return process. But I still have some time to think about it for now. Please let me know if you find a similar problem with a potential solution!
Interesting... I'll be sure to check my phone once it arrives, cheers

Some updates, I guess.
I sent the phone to a local authorized Xiaomi Service Center in my area. While the technician did indeed see and acknowledge my phone's problem (e.g. he did see the screen light up on a dark image), he says it is a probably normal operation for my phone. (Which I personally don't agree with, because again, AMOLED screens must be completely dark.)
They simply updated my phone's software and did not replace the screen, and did remind me that if it did go worse, I still have a 1-year warranty for the phone if it breaks. I really needed to use the phone to travel so I didn't bother bugging them more about it.
HOWEVER, while testing things on my own I did notice some possibly noteworthy observations:
- on the almost near to darkest settings, some colors of black become dark-purple/reddish (particularly when I use Spotify).
- when restarting the phone, I noticed my lock screen actually becomes more color accurate (in my opinion) for 1 or 2 seconds, then it suddenly goes back looking kinda washed-out.
From this, I hypothesize that maybe MIUI uses some kind of special AMOLED drivers when booted which causes the screen to produce the unwanted backlight. So I tested by changing my lock screen and wallpaper to a completely black image, then restarting my phone. What I found out was that indeed, the screen issue COMPLETELY DISAPPEARS on the first 1-2 seconds of booting, and then it comes back again after that and stays until I reboot the phone again. Also, I found that on the boot screen itself, the screen issue doesn't exist at all. The POCO and MIUI logo appeared with absolutely no screen backlight.
This leads me to believe that maybe this really is just a software issue, and I am hoping that if there would be a custom rom (because I doubt MIUI would fix this soon) for this phone, it would completely eliminate this issue once and for all.
I got that too man and i am so confused ...even on full black wallpaper or reddit or really dark grey i can see a white tint or spots i cant describe it actually ..
I dunno what is this actually but i got this on three devices ..
I have asked everyone on Telegram group the denied it and say they didn't have such an issue ..even i told them that i have this on three devices ..
I general screen is stunning colors are so great but in dark grey and full black screen or any black screen it sucks ..
Can you feedback please if you had a solution or know what is going on and what is this issue ??

Which 3 devices? Are they all POCO X4 Pro 5G as well or are they other Xiaomi products? Also when did you order your X4 Pro and which color is it?
Unfortunately, I also still have not found any solutions for the problem as well. I am planning to return this soon (to Lazada) if there's no update that would fix it (I doubt there would be). For now I am simply trying to find similarities so we could potentially point out the issue.

Yes all of them are Poco x4 pro and i got them in Lebanon from a retailer he told me that this issue is not under warranty ...
I will unlock bootloader and try custom roms and eu rom to see if this could help by any chance ...
Maybe they are using a very cheap amoled display or it is really a huge software issue ..
Is your phone a global one btw ??
Did you try a custom rom or eu rom ??
I am afraid that this issue will get bigger and the screen is going to break or something ..
Btw why there is no gamut wide p3 option in the settings ??
Btw have you contacted Xiaomi ? I tried to reach the feedback team but they didnt even respond at all ....

Go to settings to system apps updater..it doesnt have any white spots or any issue ! The black there is a pure black ! Please try and feedback bro ...
EDIT : the only possible solution to this in my humble opinion is that they must increase grey level in dark mode and let us enable P3 option in settings,i guess the pictures causing this issue is not 100% black so that's why it is happening.
A.w they should allow us to enable or disable p3 option since the device SUPPOSED TO SUPPORT IT.

I have, and just like you, they were not very helpful. They only mentioned I should send it to an authorized service repair center, which I did, and same with you, they did not exactly acknowledge this as part of warranty and only did software updates for it.

A.w they should allow us to enable or disable p3 option since the device SUPPOSED TO SUPPORT IT.

I tried going to the same menu and unfortunately mine still has white spots in that area. (Maybe your brightness settings changed? Because the issue only really appears on certain brightness levels)

Yes, my phone is global one. I have not tried to custom rom it yet.
I am also wondering the same thing, why there is not P3 option in settings.
I have, and just like you, they were not very helpful. They only mentioned I should send it to an authorized service repair center, which I did, and same with you, they did not exactly acknowledge this as part of warranty and only did software updates for it.

I guess we should wait or use a custom rom which supports p3 option ,try this bro :
First raise brightness to exactly around 40% then totally switch off the phone ,then try and check that menu i told you to check before ..
Btw my device had like a free from white spots hour when i did that !
But after watching a video for about 15 minutes the issue does come back unfortunately ..
To be honest this issue is not ruining anything for me ,i mean the colors are really good and vibrant and i am enjoying every video i am watching at my phone,i just dont want this to become bigger or damage the screen for real lol.

Bro do you have this white spots in netflex on main logo ??
Feeding back again ...my three devices are not usable at all using 120hz ...the issue is getting a lot worse on 120 refresh rate and the screen will flicker after 2 or 3 hours ..
This is so stupid i will never ever buy a xiaomi phone again.

Yes, white spots exist at all times as long as the phone is turned on. I notice it even for my always-on display.

Yes, the flickering indeed worsens at 120 Hz.
Just like you, I have also decided not to buy Xiaomi products ever again. Quality control is abysmal. My brother owned a Redmi Note 10 Pro and his SIM slot stopped working after just 2-3 months. Because of these scenarios (including yours which you had 3 phones with the same exact screen problem, along with a fishy warranty), I have no doubt that the problem is with Xiaomi's quality control in and of itself. I guess they had to cut corners somewhere. Maybe others got a good deal out of Xiaomi, but with the risk of having a problematic device, is it really worth spending for a company that obviously does not value quality? Anyways, I will definitely be attempting to return this to Lazada. I hope they will accept and refund it.
I also have the same problem. Since i have used Mi A3 for a very long time so, I can tell how amoled screen looks like. But in my Poco X4 Pro 5G i am facing the same issue as you are facing.

I don't want to disclose my number. However, I guess I could give you an update. I filed for a return to Lazada (an online store) and I am still waiting for their refund. I hope they manage to replicate the issue under a very dark environment so I could receive my refund. Anyway, so the phone is not with me right now. I'm sorry, I cannot do much to help you.
