Screen Repairs/ replacement - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello Oneplus One XDA!! Has anyone actually replaced the screen on their OPO themselves? Also, does anyone know anywhere in California where they repair One Plus Ones?
Someone is offering to sell me a cracked One Plus One and I don't know if I should go for it. It seems as One Plus, the company, does not repair phones if you were not the original owner. I've read a few forum and seems as if replacement is not that difficult, but I don't want to take the risk, ask I'm a novice.
Thanks everyone!

OnePlus will repair the device if you're not the original owner, as long as you have the original order number from the purchase.

Thanks!
Still wondering if anyone has fixed their OPO.

A guy on the forums fixed their screen.

Sending Sensation back for dust issue, without original programs

I purchased an HTC Sensation from someone on eBay about a month and a half ago. It works great, but I'm having issues with dust under the glass on the screen. I contacted HTC and they checked on the phone, it is still under warranty. The tech at HTC told me that there would be a fairly hefty (over $100) charge if there was other than original software on the phone. I contacted the seller to ask if everything was original and he confessed that the phone is s-off and rooted. I was not told this at the time of purchase, nor did I know to ask, so I guess I'm the dumb one.
I'm at a loss. I really don't know what that all means. I don't want to do anything to ruin my phone, but I'd like to get the dust problem fixed. It's very annoying and very obvious.
I've looked on the forums here and have read posts about this, but I am far from tech savvy and it's like reading a foreign language. All I can think is that I'll ruin my phone if I try anything and then I'll be out the $400 that I paid for it. Is it even possible to get the phone back to what it was originally if I don't know what was exactly done to it by the other owner? Also, is it going to ruin my phone to have this software on it?
I'd appreciate any help or advice that you can give.
Thank you!

you can flash the stock tmobile rom and then s-on again for warranty returns/services. You can look here for a little more info but if you're not comfortable with the process i wouldn't suggest it.

[Q] Nexus S motherboard died

My Nexus S's motherboard died and the guys at Samsung service centre are demanding $160 for a replacement. I am really confused as to what I should do. $160 is too steep, but the phone is in mint condition.
Any suggestions? I live in India, so consider local prices too if you would suggest buying a used Nexus S instead of getting mine repaired.
Any help appreciated. Thanks.
P.S.; Prices of used nexus s at ebay.in starts at $200!!
Edit: Could a mod move this thread to the QA section? Apologies for posting it in the wrong section.

How are u sure it's dead ? Samsung service doesn't repair motherboards they just replace them so if ur phone doesn't work for reason A or B they just replace the motherboard or whatever is defect.
You can try a regular mobile phone service center and ask them how much they want for a repair.
200$ or 160$ for just a nexus s it's really a high amount ur better off with a new phone
ps. what happen to ur nexus and it doesn't work now ?
The phone had been dropped in water in the past, but that was repaired, and did not include a motherboard replacement. This time, my sister dropped the phone on the ground, and it has not switched on since. The guys at Samsung say that the motherboard needs to be replaced

[Q] Why would Google request IMEI of a phone??

Hi Everyone!
I've recently received an email from the person who sold me my N5 requesting the IMEI.
When I asked why he said Google is requesting it for security reasons.
I then asked him to ask Google to contact me directly, but he said that couldn't happen because the phone was originally bought under his Google account.
I'm not too sure if I should provide him with it, can anyone give me any advice on this??
Thank you heaps!
Additional info:
The phone was bought from a private sale over Trade Me, basically the eBay of New Zealand.
Phone was advertised as brand new but was opened at the custom for checks. When I received it, it didn't have the protective layer over the screen.
Later found defect on the device, and with the seller's assist I had it sent back to LG America and got an replacement.
Google already has your IMEI so I'd say to not send it to this person.
Yea they can use it to report it lost or stolen and get the device shut down

This was my first thought.
Which means they can probably get a crime number which their insurance will want before sending them a replacement
Only bad things can come from giving someone your IMEI...
Sent from my Nexus 5 with the N5X LRX22C ROM
As mentioned, it sounds like the seller wants to scam you and get the phone replaced and blacklist the one you have

Google (or other legit businesses) do not call people for their Imei number, you`re a fool if you just hand it to anyone. Do NOT give this number to ANYONE mate
thanks for all the replies everyone!
Appreciated!

Why was your device shipped from germany, and as I ordered it in Germany it was shipped from Great Britain? Anyway at the Op: Order it on the Website, me and 3 other people ordered one about 3 month ago and we have no issues.

You are right. The first entry in the GLS is INBOUND TO LOCATION (GERMANY). So it was from the UK. Sorry for this
I order it from the website and have issue
The best place to buy the phone is definitely from the official OnePlus Site. That is where I got my phone (United States, shipped from California to Washington) and I have not had any issues at all. Most of the One's from the other sites are probably more likely to have those issues than the phones bought on the official site.

I don`t know is that bad luck so I can try again or what
Any body else have suggestion
I don't know why you think purchasing the phone elsewhere will get you a different result. You're still going to get the same device, from the same manufacturer, with the same chance of faults occurring.

It`s just question because it`s really gamble with this company
some people have issues and another don`t

Yeah, but my point is that no matter where you purchase the phone you're taking the same gamble. Perhaps if you scoured eBay for listings that specifically say they don't have these issues, but then you're buying second-hand and missing out on a warranty. Other than that there's really no point in buying anywhere other than from OnePlus directly.

A bit off topic, but display was an issue with my HTC M7 as well (3 manufacturers of display). Furthermore with my Sony Z3C it was the issue with speakers (2 manufacturers). Just saying that Oneplus is not alone in this "gambling".

Excellent point. There's no such thing as the perfect, bug-free phone (in terms of entire batches). I got lucky, both of the Ones that I bought are fine, neither has any of the issues that I've seen reported.

Where can I get a replacement screen + digitizer I have a cracked screen :(

As the title says, my phone got a cracked screen after it slipped out of my pocket and landed screen first. After it happened I nearly puked to see how large the crack was after falling from such a small height. Right after that, I called HTC support were they said it would be $2-300 to repair it, but I was welcome to find a local shop to do the replacement for me. I called around my area, and the repair shops said that they couldn't source the screen, but If I did, they would do the replacement for me. I've tried my hardest to find one, but I am unable to find one, as most results are yielding screens for the u12 life.
So with all that being said, if anyone has found a store that sells replacement screens, please let me know. Thank you.
Check out eBay. Did a quick search and found a couple vendors that sold them. Good luck.

Are you sure it's the U12+? Every single listing I see is for the U12 Life.

Thanks for linking those screens. They are still a little bit too expensive for me, so I will wait a month or two. Hopefully by then the price will come down.
