Hello, how are you?
I have been searching and reading but haven't got to any conclusions on this.
I just got my OPO.
It came stock with firmware 38R.
I didn't install any apps or data yet. Just went through the initial setup.
I would like to Root my phone, but have been seeing conflicting info about version 38R.
Can anyone tell me how to root on a stock 38R?
Thank you very much!
Cheers!

Just go to my guide thread (link in my signature) and follow the instructions there. All you need to do is unlock the bootloader, install TWRP, and from there you can flash SuperSU to root the stock ROM or flash a custom ROM.
And I'd strongly recommend you don't use a toolkit.

I rooted my Nexus 7 a while back and when I updated the android version I lost my root. It still says my bootloader is unlocked but it isn't. Could someone help me re-root my tablet?
Unlocked bootloader doesn't have anything to do with root. You can have a unlocked bootloader tablet with no root.
Anyway to answer your question, it's fairly easy to root it again. Check this thread. If you find it too complicated, try this one or this
You're welcome, just next time use the SEARCH button. These threads are always on the forums

I need help again, I went through the root process but the SuperSU installation isn't working, it says it failed.
Which method did you use? Can you give more details about the process you took to root your phone?

Search a video on YouTube called "Nexus 7 ROOT - How to Root Nexus 7! (Android 4.4/4.3/4.2.1/4.2.2)"
As you already know my boat loader is already unlocked and all I had to do was install the root app (SuperSU) and recover my tablet. But after I recovered I tried to update and it failed, still no root access.
Do you have 3G version? Here is another guide for you.. I thought you got the newer 2013 edition so the previous links were not that useful

Haha I was going to tell why you gave me the 2013 model links, that's why I went on YouTube instead. Anyways I have the WiFi version.
Found you the best and easiest solution. Try this.
Is rooting the OPO on 4.4.4 05Q the same as rooting it on 4.4.4 44S? thanks a lot guys. I couldn't find any answer on this anywhere else considering this update is fairly new
Yes. It's the same no matter what firmware version you're on.

...and you just need to update SuperSU app in order to maintain 05Q rooted (if previous version was, of course...)
This is odd. I was previously Unlocked, and Rooted, with SuperSU 2.37. After OTA update to 05Q, my Root is gone. No SuperSU app in my installed program list.
Okay, so I go look for the latest, find that it's now at 2.46, download, reboot, flash (no errors), reboot, and i'm back into my phone. But: Still no SuperSU in my apps list, and I'm getting warnings from XPrivacy that it's not running. Does anyone recognize these symptoms? Am I still rooted or not?
thanks guys so can i use any 4.4.4 root toolkit?
i guess you can, unfortunately i'm not skilled in android things but as timmaaa said nothing changed between 44S and 05Q so your toolkit should work if you root your phone for first time. Take a little time to install custom twrp recovery and make a nandroid backup first...just in case of...

Don't use a toolkit, they're bad news. They cause more problems than they're worth, plus they allow you to do things to your device without actually knowing what's going on, which is bypassing some very crucial learning and knowledge.
This phone is very easy to unlock and root. Very easy. Just go to my guide thread here:

Hi all.
I am on debloated stock (European/Nordic) with root and custom kernel. So I do not get any updates.
Question:
Does anyone know where I can find security patches/udates to SM-920F?
Or do I need to flash stock back, update it and then do all the stuff again which makes this TW-stock rom slightly better?
I have tried to search all threads on this S6 site but could not found any info.
Thank You.
sammobile.com for the stock Firmware. Yes after every flash you have to redo the whole rooting procedure.

THX. So I thought also. Just wanted to be sure before I do my stock again.
Thank You for reply.
So I just purchased the Honor 8 and I have been trying to root it because I'm not a fan of the lack of options that were available on my Nexus 6p. However everything I have tried with adb, twrp, kingroot and nothing works. I'm not that advanced with root knowledge (yes I still want to root). To be honest I'm at the point where I would pay someone to chat online with step by step instructions during the rooting process! I'm just so frustrated.

A little more information would help, what model are you on (FRD/ Al??), which firmware.
Essentially though, update device via OTA, unlock bootloader, flash TWRP via adb then root( flash SuperSU via TWRP).
There are several guides for all these steps available.
It is however essential that you use the proper TWRP and SuperSU found in the development section.
Unfortunately there is no root method for locked bootloaders
Guide :fingers-crossed:
Model/firmware

The model is FRD-L04, build FRD-L04C567B385, EMUI version 5.0
If your bootloader is unlocked get your TWRP and SuperSU/Magisk from here
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=71265571&postcount=1
and flash it.
For everything else you need to be a little more specific as to what problem you have exactly

ok so my issue is that after I flash twp and try to reboot phone it sends me to the device is unlocked and cant be trusted screen. it only lets me go to the OS or huawei erecovery and not TWRP. if it boots into the os and I try to go to recovery it wont boot into any recovery
So I finally got my device rooted but now my question is, does anyone know of a ROM that works for the FRD-L04 model? I'm wanting to install some different themes but can't seem to do it without a ROM. Not to mention most of the cool things you can do on a rooted device need one as well. Any idea's?

Hello everyone!
To start i would like to say that i just discovered the amazing open world of android less than a month ago. I was on iOS(hit) for a too long time and it's was the moment to quit it.
By the way this forum really helps me to understand better the android system and all its features.
But i still need ot understand lot of stuffs. That's why i'm gonna start here.
First of all i was on stock rom and i rooted it, eveything worked fine but i wanted to go further. So I installed ResurrectionRemix rom. Wich is pretty fine but a little bit buggy sometimes (wich is normal it's an unofficial one, i'm not complaining about it, just wanted to give it a try). Let's say i would like to back to the stock rom. I have a backup i made right before flashing Resurrection via twrp. To get back to it i just have to restore through twrp? Or do i need first to go back to stock rom and then restore the backup?
On some topics i can read "you have to download the latest firmware for your phone", do you know where i can find it?
These are the two majors questions i'm wondering. I have a lot more but i'll try to get myself first and if not, i'll go back there.
I hope you could help me guys.
Thanks in advance.
Cheers.
P.S. : My model phone is a FRD-L09

edit: twrp backup not contains any personal data so if you on stock don't need be restored twrp backup

Ok. I thought it was a full backup so you could get your phone backp to the state it was when you backed it up. Thanks for the precision.
Damn it, i've explore this forum a lot, how did i miss your guide. That's exactly what i needed! I really feel nooby right now...
Anyway thanks for your answer!
I'll keep on posting on this topic if i have more questions coming!
Have a nice day!
Hello everybody !
Today i want to do a proper root installation on my device.
For this i m doing a rollback to stock rom and then update it to b389 firmware through the update manager by selecting the "download all package" option.
I was wondering wich tool is the best for rooting? Magisk v14.0 or SuperSU v2.82?
Also i've made a backup with HiSuite of my apps and configs. Is it better to restore it first and then root the device or firstly root the device and then restore the backup?
Thanks in advance for your help guys!
Cheers!

Since u've rolled back and have done a full update there's a large possibility that ur bootloader is now relocked. So to root u have to unlock the bootloader. So unlock ur bootloader, then restore all ur data and then flash Magisk since it seems to be a lot more stable.

Indeed my bootloader was properly relocked also.
I did in the order you told me. Everything's fine except that i have a small bug with magisk. Now i can't register new fingerprint since i rooted my device woth magisk.
Do you know if it's a common issue with magisk root?
Thanks for your help anyway!
Cheers!

I'm sorry I forgot to mention fingerprints should be enrolled before flashing Magisk. There's a bug where in u can't add fingerprints after flashing Magisk.
