I'm new to this part of the forum, and I'm still trying to find my way.
I've read some threads but couldn't find the answer to my question, so I'm reaching for your help.
I've just flashed CleanRom and after reboot I got a popup asking to update the camera firmware.
So is it safe to do it with unlocked bootloader? Is the camera firmware rom dependent?
Thanks in advance.
Yes sir you can. Just make sure you flash the stock Asus kernel first though.

It already made the update when I rebooted..
my doubt still remains, is this file ROm dependent or in fact ASUS really pushed the firmware OTA ?

You'd have to ask SDbags for that. He might've included the option to receive updates thru OTA.
Hi all
Sorry to bother you. I upgraded my UK Note to the German JB 4.1.1. a few weeks ago and it's been flying since. I noticed today though, that SamMobile had the German 4.1.2. version available for download (N8010XXUCMA5 / N8010OXACMA5), so I'm now in the process of downloading it.
What I need to know is, is it simply a case of me doing what I did to upgrade to JB before? I used Odin if I remember right, and pointed it toward the ROM I wanted to flash with. Is that all that's needed?
Also, do I need to backup my present setup or won't it affect my present apps when I flash with 4.1.2.?
Many thanks guys

Odin flash --> User Data/Apps is not deleted --> reroot (if you want)
Backup is always a good idea
Backing up your current setup is always a good idea, but I had no issue when I flashed it.
Assuming that your not rooted, use Odin or use Exynos Abuse to root and then...
If you are rooted then get a copy of Mobile Odin and select everroot.
Thanks guys
I'm not rooted at the moment. Do I need to root? I haven't felt the need to do so until now, so I'm not really bothered about rooting...

No pressing need to root so if you don't want to, then just use Odin to flash it.
You do not need to root to flash using odin just go on the link on my signature to get the tutorial

Great.
One more question. I swapped from a UK ROM to the German JB one. Is it an easy procedure to go back to the official UK ROM if and when ver. 4.1.2. is available in the UK?
Cheers
Yes it should not be a problem the same procedure but make sure you take a back up
Thanks all
11 minutes and counting before the new ROM is d/loaded...
Just had a look at the rooting guide (thanks Samir) and the first option looks very easy (ExynosAbuse app). If I was to use this method would I lose any functionality of the Note at all? Also, if I have to send my Note back, would Samsung object to the note having been rooted?
Cheers
I dont think mobile odin will flash the hidden or bootloaders, odin or heimdall is a better option
the exynos abuse patch doesn't work on the MA (4.1.2) builds, if you want root use cfautoroot through odin on those.
Rooting will cause issues with samsungs warranty. If you need to return a device to samsung then you need to restore it to stock rom, with no root, they are using a binary counter though that you can get rid of by using triangleaway.
don't forget to use the search on the forum for these topics, there's been quite a bit about them
Well I've followed the instructions like last time, but it won't update - it keeps saying the process has 'FAILED'
Can anyone shed any light on why I can't update???
Confirm that Kies is not running

Can you post a screenshot ??
What version of odin are you using
Hi guys
Thanks for the quick replies. I must admit to being a plonker of the highest order - I never put the tablet in d/l mode did I
It's doing its business now. Roll on 4.1.2. goodness!!!
Thanks to all of you for your help

Does.... Less hassle with Mobile ODIN....
hey guys, so my question is for those that already flashed 5.1.1 stock, does it worth it? is there bugs? is it smoother? THANKS
I tried today, but I didn't read all the articles very carefully after being away from ROM world for so long.
You can risk tripping the Knox counter if you don't follow the lovely guides out there - so do your reading. In my opinion, moving to 5.1.1 hasn't been worth tripping that damn counter. Don't flash a custom kernel through recovery; use Odin to load the stock ROM. Hell, don't listen to me - read those guides - because after today I'm kicking myself!

if i am flashing stock then it's through odin....not custom rom so it shouldn't trip the knox...
For some peace of mind and if you don't have flashing experience I don't recommend flashing the 5.1.1 via odin. Bricking your device, tripping Knox and voiding your warranty may be the result. Its safer to wait for the OTA update. A lot of threads here are started due to 5.1.1 flashing problems.

I have several devices all running different versions of lollipop.
Can't say its worth it, but Google did fix a lot of the bugs in the core android. Unfortunately I think TW doesn't help.
If you are having any major issues, I would suggest you search to see if its been addressed in 5.1.1, otherwise hold off for the next update.
Here you go and flash.

So far as I know, flashing stock samsung firmware will NOT trip Knox
If it trips Knox, then it will be up to the repair centre the phone goes to and the carrier, regardless of EU, UK or any other LAW as Knox trip does invalidate warranty. Just because you are lucky enough to get a phone fixed after it's had custom software on does not make it the norm. And if you're refused warranty, good luck challenging it, Europe or not.
As for going back to 5.1.1 I heard it wasn't possible without breaking Knox.

Have you had any luck? I want to as well because my battery is draining like 40% faster now that I upgraded. That and there's a few bugs that I can't get rid of that bother me quite a bit.
I've tried the various guides online using Odin3 and the ROMs from SamMobile but I can't get it to not fail. I've factory restored it multiple times and tried all of the updates to Odin 3.10. I can't get any of it to work and It's making me mad! I've tried two different PCs, made sure the drivers for reading the phones are updated and even multiple USB cords! I just want Lolipop back so I can enjoy my phone and not have it be dead halfway through my day!
I have some problems with touch and want to try downgrade, how?

Hi,
Flashing ROM from sammobile never worked for me. This is what I did.
Download the latest 5.1.1 bootloader, modem and TWRP 3.0 for your model. Flash them in odin after putting them in respective locations. If successful, the phone boots into recovery, where you can restore a 5.1.1 backup if you have any. If you don't have a backup, see that you have a ROM file ready in the phone to flash.

I honestly have no idea but used to fail everytime.
http://justforprogrammers.blogspot.com/2015/12/downgrade-from-marshmallow-to-lollipop.html?m=1
I think, point is from WHICH 6.0.1 to WHICH 5.1.1- generally some combinations work.
Somebody knows which??
Downgrade not work for me, bootlop, no recovery mode for wipe after flash, only download mode. Knox not trip.
I've recently installed TWRP on my Note 20 Ultra (Exynos) and deeply regret . It's very usefull and all but not enough to lose Knox encryption and other features of this device, soo does someone know how to restore it as default?

Afaik you can only get back stock recovery by flashing stock firmware via Odin or Heimdall.
Everything will be wiped doing that.

Well, as you've already flashed TWRP you have some experience already.
Use Samfirm_reborn.0.3.6.3 to download multiple! (by checking "binary nature") part stock firmware.
Get device into download mode and flash the files (Ap to AP, bl to BL, aso) in Odin 3.14 and above.

Hi there again bmwdroid,
So I've succeeded on installing the stock recovery system on my Galaxy Note, but the main reason that i wanted to "restore" it was to recover Samsung Knox encryption and regain access to the Samsung Pay and Pass functionnalities. So do U know if it's possible to solve it without sending to a Samsung authorized support or that's the only way to regain access to those functions? And just one more thing I've downloaded the right files from Samfirm_reborn.0.3.6 as U said it and flashed the right files(AP and BL), but I've asked myself if it's needed to flash the other ones (CP, CSC_OWO and HOME_CSC_OWO) and if it's needed where do I flash the CSC_OWO and the HOME_CSC_OWO since I can't flash two CSC files in the same flashing port.
Once again thank U for the support and I hope U can answer these questions.

Well I probably can't answer all but will try to.
If Knox has been triggered there is afaik no way to untrigger it again as it's a hardware switch.
You only need one CSC.
Can't remember which of the 2 will let you keep your DATA .
Edit: found it. That was easy.
