They're both the exact same phone. Both unlocked, both same hardware, etc

Any Nexus 5 is the same regardless carrier or Play Store. The only two models are the international and the US models. If it works with Spark when buying it from Sprint, it'll work with Spark if you buy it from the Play Store/anywhere else, because it's the exact same device.

No idea what Spark is. The Sprint Nexus is just a US unlocked Nexus, so not even sure if the Sprint Nexus works with Spark, but as already mentioned, if 1 nexus works with Spark, they all will.

Yes, it is spark enabled

Anyone know if the Nexus 5 will come to Sprint????

Hello all!! Im on sprint so I didnt get the nexus 4 and i wanted so bad.. Is there any word on if the new Nexus 5 will come to sprint this time around?? Man i sure hope so..
I am not completely sure, but sprint basically has the same freq. as Wind (in Canada) so I'd expect it to work.
These are supposed to be Sprint's Freq.:
LTE Advanced Worldmode: Sprint LTE, 800/1900 CDMA, 850/900/1800/1900/2100 GSM/UMTS
Advanced Worldmode: 800/1900 CDMA, 850/900/1800/1900/2100 GSM/UMTS
Worldmode: 800/1900 CDMA and 900/1800 GSM
Leaks so far suggest there will be at least two different Nexus 5 models. The model leaked last week (called LG-D820) had wireless radios that could support AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile LTE.

I think it will come to sprint per Anand tech... At least they say it's compatible with cdma...

What I want to know if it's triband lte compatible with Sprint. It looks like it is... From the Anandtech document because it supports bands 25, 26 and 41 which are the lte bands that Sprint use.... But not 100% sure.

Dan Hesse should know the answer to this. Everyone else is just guessing based on the radio. Doesn't mean Sprint is picking it up.
Sprint does look like it is trying to be the good guys again and trying to play into what people want. I would be surprised to not see Sprint pick it up. Verizon, that is another story. They could not care less about making people happy.

This is my question as well. It would determine whether or not the G2 is my target for my next phone, or if the Nexus 5 will be in my sights.
Man I hope sprint let's us activate it. That's the only thing I'm worried about .

Just because it doesn't support the LTE 13 band, could it still come up and grab a signal (just no LTE?).
Also what I find interesting is the discussion of the radio that is a "Adjustable Tuner", so couldn't it just "tune in" to the frequencies we need for Verizon?
And if there are 2 models, one for AT&T, TMOBILE, and SPRINT... whats the second one for?

Well I hope it will be n Sprint as in many sites it is clearly mentioned that it will come up with the support of LTE that was not in Nexus 4..then there must be a probability that it will come in Sprint too....
Even if it's for sprint I highly suggest you don't get it. If you need a reason just go through the Galaxy Nexus Toroplus forums. We're still trying to get a stable 4.3 build.

Here's a theory on why the Sprint bands are there even if Sprint does not end up selling it. Sprint is now owned by Softbank. Having the Sprint bands would allow those N5s sold in Japan by Softbank to work in the US on Sprint's network. Softbank does not have CDMA service in Japan they have 3G(WCDMA/HSPA) and LTE only.

I have a Verizon GNex Toro and I'm running 4.3 AOKP official nightlies and its flawless. Not sure why ToroPlus would be any different.
I doubt N5 is going to be on Verizon but I'm too leery of the G2. Damn Verizon.

[Q] Difference between Carrier vs Google Play?

I am eligible to upgrade my S3 to a Nexus 5 for $65.00 through Rogers.
Do the carrier versions vary from the Google Play ones at all? Is there Rogers bloatware on the device? Can I flash any ROM and perform anything on the device the exact same as if it were purchased from the Google Play store?
Secondly, I know that this may vary from carrier to carrier, but if I upgrade the device, will my contract start over again? I really don't want to deal with Rogers anymore.
Thanks!

The Nexus 5 is unlocked and free of bloatware no matter what carrier it's on and of course if Roger is willing to give you the N5 for $65.00 that means that they want you to sign some sort of contract for a year or 2.
Remember this phone is $350 (16gb) and $400 (32gb) so obviously you will have to sign a contract.

I tried searching things like 'nexus 5 carrier vs google play', 'nexus 5 att vs google play', 'nexus 5 carrier version', as well as search the first three pages of the forum, and could not find a thread that related to mine.
Thanks for the useful reply though. Especially your link to the others threads for future reference. I really appreciate it.

Why do so many people get sprint CDMA devices and expect them to work in GSM only countries? I may never understand but my suggestion is get a device that will work naively in your region

The reason why they get a Sprint device is because it's supposedly cheaper to buy a Sprint Note 5 than a global variant of the Note 5.
I think it's better to get a global variant and avoid the headache. It can't be THAT much cheaper.

I agree. Even if it's a hundred bucks cheaper, is it really worth the headache to get it working? For me, I'd say no. There are plenty of great unlocked devices that'll work anywhere in the world (Moto X Style, N6P, N5X, Moto G, most phones actually, now that i think of it), idk why they wouldn't look at those first.
I see in your words I have no solution

Sprint note 5 support gsm and cdma bands. All phones from note 4 and newer have all the radios to run on both . Do ##data# go to lte bands and look at all the band's available. If you run moar rom or have your msl code you can change the band priorities. I'm running my sprint note 5 on metro pc gsm with lte and hspa full bars most the time. [email protected] sim also works also on my note 5 too. Wish i had got the dual sim model

Will the S7 be rooted?

The first requirement for me in a phone is that it's rooted. Do you guys think it will be rooted?
No.
Lol
Not anytime soon, especially if you have a Verizon, Sprint, or AT&T variant.
Got it, thanks. What a shame. Another Samsung user may have to jump ship I guess. Verizon is my only option where I live. I dream of a note 5 or 6 with an unlocked bootloader at night haha

Good. That means I better stick with T-Mobile. Was thinking about switching, but T-Mobile usually has root faster than most others.
Anyone with an opinion about future root of Android 6.0 on SnapDragon vs Exynos.
Do we know if Chainfire are working on some stuff for Marshmallow?
I dont care if I breached Knox, if I could enjoy root on a S7 international.

If you absolutely need to be able to root it, I'd buy something else. I don't think it is likely that the Snapdragon models will be rooted.

Ah, thanks. That said, I feel like rooting your phone meant more a few years back. When CyanogenMod was around and even Magisk (?) modules, I think that was the name. With the Note 8 and 9 I didn't really see an advantage of it, but that is just one man's opinion.

Correct. No root for US Snapdragon variants. There probably never will be either. If you need root/bootloader unlock go buy yourself an unlocked Pixel or OnePlus device. Stay far far away from any Verizon branded devices. They even lock down the Pixels and OnePlus

Im still trying to figure out in 2020 why people need to ask if a north american samsung device let alone a verizon device can be rooted.
Imagine if there was a search button or something like that people could use here to look for these commonly asked questions lol .
Sorry couldn't help it guys lol:angel:
His choice is clear, either exynos like Brava has or a HK or Korean snapdragon...if he wants root.
If he wants roms, kernels etc then definitely go exynos.
5g working is another story entirely but something to consider if it matters to the user.

Well Yes apparently from what this article says:
https://www.xda-developers.com/samsung-galaxy-note-20-ultra-root-us-unlocked-snapdragon-865/
I was going to buy the Note 20 Ultra Exynos to be able to have call recording by changing the CSC to thailand ... but if I can have the snapdragon would be much better... Can anyone that has used that share their experience with this service? I would pay $150 to have the call recording. Even if don't want the LIMITATIONS of rooting but would prefer to have the better Battery life of the snapdragon... This seems like the only way to get call recording on a snapdragon phone... Can someone help with more info on this?
