Anyone know if the Nexus 5 will come to Sprint???? - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello all!! Im on sprint so I didnt get the nexus 4 and i wanted so bad.. Is there any word on if the new Nexus 5 will come to sprint this time around?? Man i sure hope so..

I am not completely sure, but sprint basically has the same freq. as Wind (in Canada) so I'd expect it to work.
These are supposed to be Sprint's Freq.:
LTE Advanced Worldmode: Sprint LTE, 800/1900 CDMA, 850/900/1800/1900/2100 GSM/UMTS
Advanced Worldmode: 800/1900 CDMA, 850/900/1800/1900/2100 GSM/UMTS
Worldmode: 800/1900 CDMA and 900/1800 GSM

Leaks so far suggest there will be at least two different Nexus 5 models. The model leaked last week (called LG-D820) had wireless radios that could support AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile LTE.

I think it will come to sprint per Anand tech... At least they say it's compatible with cdma...

What I want to know if it's triband lte compatible with Sprint. It looks like it is... From the Anandtech document because it supports bands 25, 26 and 41 which are the lte bands that Sprint use.... But not 100% sure.

Dan Hesse should know the answer to this. Everyone else is just guessing based on the radio. Doesn't mean Sprint is picking it up.
Sprint does look like it is trying to be the good guys again and trying to play into what people want. I would be surprised to not see Sprint pick it up. Verizon, that is another story. They could not care less about making people happy.

This is my question as well. It would determine whether or not the G2 is my target for my next phone, or if the Nexus 5 will be in my sights.

Man I hope sprint let's us activate it. That's the only thing I'm worried about .

Just because it doesn't support the LTE 13 band, could it still come up and grab a signal (just no LTE?).
Also what I find interesting is the discussion of the radio that is a "Adjustable Tuner", so couldn't it just "tune in" to the frequencies we need for Verizon?
And if there are 2 models, one for AT&T, TMOBILE, and SPRINT... whats the second one for?

Well I hope it will be n Sprint as in many sites it is clearly mentioned that it will come up with the support of LTE that was not in Nexus 4..then there must be a probability that it will come in Sprint too....

Even if it's for sprint I highly suggest you don't get it. If you need a reason just go through the Galaxy Nexus Toroplus forums. We're still trying to get a stable 4.3 build.

Here's a theory on why the Sprint bands are there even if Sprint does not end up selling it. Sprint is now owned by Softbank. Having the Sprint bands would allow those N5s sold in Japan by Softbank to work in the US on Sprint's network. Softbank does not have CDMA service in Japan they have 3G(WCDMA/HSPA) and LTE only.

Galaxy s 2 T-Mobile or the international vrs?

I'm considering buying this phone outright to replace my vibrant and was wondering wich one I should get...pros/cons.
Never tried the international vers with the exynos processor but the tmobile version is definitely a beast and the data speeds are ridiculous. I would suggest getting the tmo version. Also you would probably be able to get the tmo version cheaper.

Nope, T-Mobile and the Telus version are the only ones that support T-Mobile's 42mbps. The only good I have heard about the International version is that it has a better processor than ours and that the software is free of lag. Our phone has a slight lag, but nothing major. Its hard to explain because our phone feels so fast, but every once in a while you'll get an occasional stutter. That minor issue seems like its just software based so it should be/can be fixed.

What about our 3g bands?
The exynos processor is a beast. My lady has the att gs2 and its pretty snappy but there's not much noticeable difference. I'm super happy with my gs2 and the snapdragon s3 is no slouch.

3G and 4G will not work. I just sold my white i9100 because I use T-Mobile. If you've never had the i9100 you'll be fine but if you ever hold them side by side, you'll be sorry you did. The exynos runs circles around ours in real world use. But really, if you're T-Mobile and have never had the i9100 you'll love it.

I kinda figured that, and is one of the reasons I made this post.....I am curious as to how many different customer service agents I could ask that, and how many different answers I'd get
I strongly suggest the international version. Sure the T-Mo version has a bigger screen and higher data speeds, but the screen also has a lot of issues (manufacturer's fault, there are dark blobs and lines all over the place in gray and black areas), and the data speeds are not going to make much of a difference, trust me, especially if you're in an area with really good service. Plus the Exynos blows Snapdragon out of the water with overall performance, as well as benchmark scores. Plus if anything, it will be much easier to sell.

Only touchwiz rom is free of lag since its hardware acceleration gingerbread roms are not hardware accelerated. It's hard to make a single core lag with a proper kernel and software enhancements on gingerbread. Once we get ics it lag will be virtually invisible on all devices.

It comes down to hardware , the Exynos cannot get TMO 4g speeds it is not capable, but it is a "faster" CPU, so if you want 4g speeds now or in the future the Exynos in the international is not going to work regardless of the frequency.
This is the reason that the TMO version has the Snapdragon.

The T-Mobile GSII if you'll be using T-Mobile. I like the shape of the I9100, too, but no 3G/"4G" is the ultimate dealbreaker especially on a $600+ phone. There is also the GSM Galaxy Nexus which has T-Mobile 3G AND the slightly higher resale value. I wish more OEMs would build phones supporting AWS bands. HTC does this with most of their newer phones. Samsung does so but only at the behest of Google, it seems. Motorola and Sony-Ericsson should follow suit. Didn't mean to go off topic but that's just my $.02...

Canadian Galaxy Note 3 Users

Welcome fellow Canadians!
Seeing as the Galaxy Note 3 is going to be released in Canada very shortly (October 4th), I figured we should get some discussion going on where you're buying, and any speculations to price points.
I just got off of a chat with Telus, regarding an email I had received, offering $50 off a device when you sign a contract, OR, stay month-to-month. So you can save a bit of money for those who are purchasing the phone outright, or even signing up for a new contract. You need to call a special sales line: 1-877-279-3900
Also, while she couldn't officially confirm, the rep did tell me that she would strongly suggest I go to a corporate store on Friday.. Obviously this is just in case there are shipping delays (doubtful) but I think that it's quite safe to say that it's coming out on Friday!
Currently, Wind Mobile is the only carrier to officially announce their pricing, but I think that it would be safe to say that the other carriers will be in line (roughly) with Wind.
- WIND 40: $449
- WIND 30: $549
- WIND 33: $549
- WIND 20: $649
- Outright: $749
I was also able to "confirm" with the rep, that the price point for Telus would probably fall around $799, so that isn't too far off of Wind's pricing.

Which International Model Works Best In Canada N900 or N9005?
Hi Guys
As the title states, which model works best in Canada specifically on Bell, the N900 or N9005 model? Also will I get full LTE with the N9005 model? I've tried researching them and keep finding different answers. Sorry if this topic has been covered prior. Just sold my Xperia Z Ultra C6833 to jump over to the N3. Or should I wait for the Canadian release on Bell which I believe is this Friday Oct.4th?
Thanks Again

Im having the same problem myself. Wondering which models will work on Rogers with LTE? Its difficult to understand the band and frequency numbers. I have never had to research a phone like this before I bought it. Some of the numbers match and some dont, does that mean it'll work? Or does it have to have every number matching?
But ya, my question is the same, will an unlocked N9005 LTE work on Rogers?
You can't quote me on this, but if you're looking for LTE, then the only version hat works would be the Qualcomm N9005. I believe the N9000 is the octa core 3G international version.

Hey AllGamer, nice to see you back from the Galaxy S2 days
I found the Wind Mobile pricing from Mobilesyrup: http://mobilesyrup.com/2013/09/28/w...laxy-note-3-on-october-4th-heres-the-pricing/
Bell also announced their pricing today as well, off contract: $799.95 (http://mobilesyrup.com/2013/10/01/bell-samsung-galaxy-note-3-to-cost-799-95-outright/). Which is right around the pricing that the CSR told me yesterday.
Does anyone know for sure, 100%, if the T-Mobile version of the Note 3 will work on Wind? Normally this is the case, but I ask because the T-Mobile version is the snapdragon model whereas Wind is going to be carrying the Exynos model.
I really want the dev support, and from what i gather, dev support is going to be none-existent for the Exynos version? Or is this maybe not going to be as accurate as it is/was for the S4? Or am i wrong about the S4 here too? I just remember reading and hearing that samsung doesn't release source code for the kernel etc for the Exynos chips - which i don't understand fully because I did read a few posts about how samsung had released the source for the Note 3 (or maybe it was the Note 10.1 2014) with the Exynos chip...
can anyone shed light on these issues for me?
Specifically, four questions:
1. T-Mobile Snapdragon phone on Wind Mobile? (Or any other snapdragon phones on Wind?)
2. How does the dev support look like it will be for the Exynos version that Wind Mobile is going to be selling?
3. Does the source code that samsung released for the Exynos model of either the note 3 or note 10.1 2014 mean that they are releasing more source code than they used to for their Exynos chips? Or was this stuff all released for other chips too?
4. Do you guys know if there will be a way to purchase the Note 3 outright from wind if you are not going to be on a new contract? I'm on wind already and i want to keep my existing plan because it's a better deal than any plan they have had since they offered this one, but i obviously want to buy this phone friday... i know with the S3 i had to activate a new plan, but of course then i just threw out the new sim card - worry here is that one wind guy told me that for the first month they may not even allow outright purchases only purchases on the wind tab, in which case i couldn't just throw out the sim card and use my old one could i?

Purchasing of Nexus 5

Hello, I am going to buy this Nexus 5 in U.S. (NY) next week.
What should I know befor buying it? I am not from U.S. (from Israel).
What should I check or ensure?
I am going to buy it from T-MOBILT by the way.
Thank' guys!
You should know that you'll be buying the wrong version for use in Israel. There's two versions of the Nexus, one for North America (D820) and one for the rest of the world (D821), the difference being the radio bands that are supported, specifically the LTE bands. So while a North American model will work oversees for voice and 3G data, it won't for work 4G, as it doesn't support the proper bands.
Everything he said^^^^^^^. Also you should check out a few review videos on YouTube to get an idea of what the Nexus 5 has to offer.

You cannot buy a non American nexus in an American store. Buy it in Europe.

why would i, as an american, need to generally buy a phone that is meant for European countries?
the US uses different LTE bands than the European countries, so thats why the hardware (note: radio only bands only) is different.

http://www.myworldphone.com/ sells the international Nexus 5 D821. Their store is located in New York City (in Queens close to JFK Airport). You can do online chat with them to confirm before you depart home.

T-Mobile Note 5 on Verizon so you can get unlocked bootloader

Anyone tried this yet?
I know in the past, the GSM phones have not been compatible within Verizon's network. But I've heard that has changed recently? And I'm new to Verizon, so I unfortunately don't know the in's and out's of CDMA and what is or isn't possible.
But from my limited research, the Samsung official website lists specs for each carriers Note 5 and both TMO + VZW appear to be capable of using the same bands?
T-MOBILE:

dont think the tmo can get the cdma/3g of verizon. so the tmo may work but you would only have 4g nothing else

We need to test this theory asap, if the tmobile verison will work I'm buying one tomorrow. I might sign up on tmobile just to test if no one can answer the question
As far as I know, the GSM slot on most Verizon high-end devices has always been unlocked for Global GSM use. I know that as a fact, having used a Verizon G2, and a Note 4 in India, with absolutely no issues whatsoever. However, that may or may not work for US GSM networks. But worth popping in a T-Mo SIM and checking it out :good:
And yes, even if a T-Mo SIM were to work, you will only have 4G, nothing else, as rightly pointed out by @oneandroidnut

All jokes aside I think in the next couple of days I'm going to go signup and buy a tmobile note 5 and try it... I will return the phone within the 14 day period. Worst case scenario I lose $35.

Oh that isn't good
And now they make your wait 45 days before they will give you the code.
Too many people bought the phone and skipped country / changed carriers immediately after purchase.

As I understand it you have to meet the following criteria for the unlock codes:
1) You must own the device (no payment plan)
2) You must wait 43 or 45 days. I've heard both. I assume this is to let the return policy play out.
Either way, you should still be able to run the experiment.

Their restocking fee is $50!
Their phones now will only unlock with their app and they will approve only after you have used the device on an active account for 40 days OR paid in full and wait 15 days (past remorse period). But the latter is really hard because the "system" really works on the 40 day rule and it's hard to get an override.
I don't think it will work on VZW.
In the past, I've tried my VZW sim cards in unlocked ATT and MetroPCS S5s and it just doesn't work. Even worse is on my account I have the dreaded Non VZW device and even after putting that SIM back in a legitimate VZW phone that number is locked meaning I cannot make changes to it on myVZW. And when you go into a corporate store to get it fixed you get that typical "You did what?" attitude!
Unfortunately the days of having freedom on both VZW and ATT seem limited indeed.
The Note 5 and Edge+ do generally run great out of the box, however. With an Adguard subscription I'm satisfied. If Android-M has more customization built in (center clock, statusbar customization, etc) then truly no need for me to root. I will miss Titanium BU, however.
There's always Nexus, but they take some getting used to in comparison. It's reminiscent of driving a Caddy or Lincoln for years and then getting in a Mercedes. Which isn't a bad thing mind you, but if you have to work under the hood you will be in for some changes.
I'm more interested in the various AOSP ROM's that will eventually pop up.
Like SlimPop or SlimMellow (eventually).
Not all phones have the same bands.
But it seems like the T-Mobile Note 5 *might* have most of the Verizon bands. Or all of them?
In the past, you could pay like $5-$15 on eBay to unlock your phone through a 3rd party person. I've used a T-Mobile phone on AT&T with good luck, but both were GSM.
If a TMO G5 pops up used in the next few weeks (in my budget), I'm totally going to see if it can be unlocked on eBay and then see if it'll work with my VZW account. :good:
I'm tired of dealing with Verizon bs... I'm switching to the nexus 6p anyway, but I wanted to try before buying the nexus. To me it's more than rooting, it's the freedom to do what I want to my phone. The new nexus lacks flagship device status, but you gain freedom and the phone works on all us carriers period.

The new Motorola Pure is what the Note 5 should have been.
Only thing the N5 has over it is glove-mode, which is something I actually really, really like having.
But if the TMO N5 doesn't work on Verizon, I'll have to go with the Motorola Pure. Which can be rooted on Verizon (I think).

Thre Note 5 has *a lot* of things over the Moto X Pure... Fingerprint scanner, faster cpu, faster memory, faster storage rates, nicer screen, stylus...
But in the end, if the Pure is a better for for your uses, then get it. But don't act like glove mode is the only thing the Note 5 has over the Pure...
