[Q] Query before buying - Xiaomi Mi 4

Hello Fellows,
I am willing to buy Mi4, but I am confused about its battery and performance as of now because of launch of new advanced handsets in market.
What would you suggest , that should I go for mi4?
1. Is its battery better than mi3? I personally dont do much on the phone whole day except that internet is on all the time and some messaging. But also on heavy side, I tend to play heavy graphics games. So what would be the battery output when I play heavy games continuously on the device?
2. Can we install CM on this device as of now?
Thanking you all in advance.

I think battery and performance is great and for me, it's definitely better than the Mi3.
As far as CM, you can install it, it just wouldn't be very stable.

Search for the best battery saving OS

Hi ,
currently I'm running CodenameAndroid 3.3.0 on my Nexus S and everything runs smooth and works perfectly well for me, no doubts. But somehow I constantly get the feeling that the newer our operating system gets our batteries drain faster. Either this or my battery just gets old. However I'm searching for a Rom that has battery saving in main purpose. I dont care about playing games, the operating system or showing off how great my phone is. For this I have my Tablet The best solution for me would be a rom which is very low in batterydrain but as smooth as jellybean (maybe just port the transitions over). I know it might be hard to find something like this but is there any rom which matches my perception? Also a nice look would be cool, too ^^
I'm waiting for your responses!
I think you're looking for SlimBean. I'm on CNA too, the batter life is pretty bad
I tried SlimBean because I used SlimICS before but I miss too many features to change it back. Isn't there something else? Or which OS has the best batterylife in general?
i think gingerbread still has the best battery life.
androxide got me over 4hrs of screen time and a days usage with matrix
the new miui jb is also almost the same
IMO.....ICS's best battery life is on Kangy Ultra Ex 1.3 by DaXmax.
Just as long as u don't use Google talk since that's the ROMs only hiccup.
Then again like most will say.... its all depending on the user so hopefully it will help if u try.
I'm currently using the same developers JB ROM called paranoid Android..... so far it great but again I don't use all the newest features to much yet. I'm working myself slowing into the stuff.
Good luck
Vs Nexus S4G using tapatalk2
There is no ROM with super battery life, some better and some worst, very similar.
Most u can get from nexus s is +4hrs screen on.
And i don't care about those pathetic screen shots with +7hrs of screen on.
Fire up 3g/H stock browser, maps, music etc and we'll find out how good ur battery life is.
MIUI get's me aprox 4 hours and 50 minutes of on screen time. Lots of game playing, instant messaging, syncing, music, and social media (Instagram, twitter, tumblr.) And about 9 hours + when it get's to about 14%
EDIT: This is when using WIFI, not my 3G.

This question will produce every combo under the sun...but in the end no Real answer. Every phone/battery is different and how the person uses their phone. Apps installed, how much you use said apps, are the ram hogs, 2g, 3g, I could go on forever...just like this thread will if not eventually ignored or closed.
Closed, there is no answer to this question, the majority of battery drain will be the screen (depending on brightness) and whatever app you have installed and use.
Generally it's a matter of finding out what works for you.

[Q] New Phone

Hello XDA users,
Sadly my HTC Sensation XE had died,
RIghtnow im looking for a new phone but i do not have the money for any high end phones,
I have been looking up some review's about phone's that are about 200 euro's and out of all tests the MOTO G came on first place.
So far the only downside i found was that i do not have place for a SD card and that you cant pullout the battery
What is your experiance with the MOTO G and do you recommand it?
I am using my phone mostly for Facebook, Whatsapp and Music. Maybe a simple game on my way home in the bus.
Cheers,
Joey
Really good device to have! Storage wise you have about 12.92gb to use, i have about 4.5gb left with my 5 gb of music and 2 gb on apps. Performance wise its really good for some games i don't really play much games just a couple. Battery wise it'll last me about a day or two depending on what i'm doing. In the end i would totally recommend it!
Day to day usage I find the battery to be pretty awesome, i tend to play ingress and thats quite taxing on the battery with the GPS being always on, but i have no issues with the phone i only have an 8gb model and thats more than ample for my needs when you factor in the fact i use the FM Radio more than listen to mp3's and if i want to do that i have a streaming data package.
I recommended this phone to 4 other people and they have them now and love it

If your GPS is always on how much does your battery last?
Well that sounds promising! even with a bigger battery in my Sensation it barely made the evening.
Do you guys have any experience with Rooting the Moto G? on my sensation it was a pain to do.
Rooting is simple if you know how to use adb

When i am playing ingress which i did hardcore today for 8 hours non stop with no charge
If u root it and put CM11 on it, than is really brutal phone. Really fast, good signal reception, good battery, exellent built quality and what is the most important thing for me is the size and the price. If there was a logo of Samsung or iPhone on it, then the price will be 400eu.
The verdict: For that price it`s perfect :good:
This phone is a testament to the principle that, sometimes, a particular thing is greater than the "sum of its parts." Throw the spec sheet out the window -- the important question is, "Does it simply perform well in day to day operations?" The answer to that question is an unequivocal "YES!"
The phone is phenomenal at this price point. The build quality is outstanding, and the phone is buttery smooth. If you want a phone to play high-end android games while multitasking with other RAM intensive apps then this phone may not be for you, but if you need a phone that performs well in completely ordinary day to day operations then there is absolutely not a phone on the market with the same performance and quality of the 'G' at this price.

Any S6 user happy with their phone?

Hi guys, I'm going straight to the point: are you happy with your phone (in general, I know every phone has some minor annoyances)? I keep reading on the internet people that keep on lamenting about it (bad battery, laggy, awful RAM management, ect.), that's why I've opened this thread. I don't have the phone and I plan on buying it (it or the s6 edge or edge+, still have to decide - unfortunately the note 5 isn't coming to Europe anytime soon -), but all the reports are making me scared of buying it.
I'm happy with it. But you enjoy it more with root. Custom kernel fixes the ram issue, keeps the system speedy, custom roms add more features and debtor for better performance and ram management. So I'm basically enjoying it because of root
Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
Like osmosizzz above I can say that I am very happy with this phone. Once you root it and remove the bloatware this thing flies. Using a custom ROM and kernel I have better battery life, endless customization options and a speedy UI experience.
Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
I'd like not to have to root, I'm just tired of it (coming from a nexus 4), but I guess I might consider it if I buy the S6
You really dont have to have root as the phone is still plenty fast and with each update that comes out they are improving the software of the phone.
It's the best phone I ever had, my only gripes are aggressive memory management and the placement of the speaker (I usually end up covering it when holding it ), lag and battery are a lot better since the 2nd 511 update, the first update from 501 was rather laggy
I have 2 of this phone. here are my opinions:
1st phone (rooted and on XstrestoLite ROM)
I have great battery life, responses and everything seems fine except for the current bug with BOGG firmwares, which resulted in the keyboard lag when coming for lockscreen (Keyboard open delay about 3-6 seconds) check out my battery life here and here
2nd phone (stock and not rooted ever)
I find that the battery life on this phone not as great as my 1st phone, but however, everything is pretty smooth and great to me. But for a short time i had problems with GPS not being able to lock properly on Waze and Google Maps, however, not sure what happened (i didn't update the phone or anything) but it was back to normal again. and never happened again ever since.
Verdict: i love both my phones, i'll have them only until the Samsung Galaxy S7 comes out.
I owned this phone for over 4 months now. It never lag and blazing fast, the fastest android phone I've ever seen and the most amazing design I've ever seen too. It is just how the poor memory management kills apps at the background when you doing heavy multi-tasking, I've heard the 2nd 5.1.1 OTA fixed it. If multi-tasking is your concern, you should consider S6 Edge Plus comes with 4GB ram.
The battery performance is above average, imagine when you got this ultra smooth speed plus 2K screen and with only a 2550mAh capacity, I'll say it has done the job pretty well on battery life and enough to use a full day for any light to medium usage user. Heavy user will need a 2nd charge but it supports QC2.0(just get a QC2.0 powerbank) or wireless charging.

External storage can be overcome easily with this cute staff.
Since I'm a one-hand lover and the S6 size is the max. acceptable limit to me. I'm thinking to swap to Sony Z5 Compact later but that's s810 cpu overheating issue scared me away, I may just stick with S6 until S8 out, still not decided yet atm.
Its pretty good, but the RAM management and the occasional battery freakout (background drain) are irritating. If 5.1.1 fixes these 2 issues, I'm gold.
Before anyone tells me I can custom, its a work phone, I need full stock unrooted/knox intact otherwise I can't hook into my work's MDM systems (yes, its really nazi security).
But even without root, debloating via package disabler pro/debloater makes a noticeable difference to battery, which is a poor indictment of Samsung (6th generation Galaxy and still not learnt their lesson?).
The camera is out of this world and you get REALLY used to having a reliable fingerprint reader, I just rest my thumb stupidly on the home button on other people's phones (and if there isn't a physical home button I just stare stupidly at the screen for ~2 seconds lol).
I've never actually used the 'swap battery' feature so don't miss it, work phone so I got the storage bumped but if I paid for it myself I'd probably be irritated at the cost
One happy user here.
Battery life, my only gripe. Otherwise a perfect phone for me. Won't be rooting, just changed the launcher (Nova prime) and Skinomi case. Happy S6 user here!
apart from the camera I don't like any thing about this phone.
Best phone i,ve ever had, fantastic camera/screen/battery lasts me a full day no problems at all
Unhappy user here; bad battery life, laggy software, agressive memory resulting to bad multi tasking; will definitely change the phone.
SM-G920F cihazımdan Tapatalk kullanılarak gönderildi
I'm quite pleased with it, and I didn't even root mine. I'm especially impressed with the GearVR.
Count me with the happy owners!
I will root soon anyway to get more flexibility and customization.
Since updating to the EVR firmware (for network specific settings) I love it, super fast and great performance even with intensive games. My one issue is battery life; although it lasts the day with ordinary use it does drain after a while of continuous use, but then again with fast charging I just plug it in for a few minutes and all is good.
Is there any fix for the memory management?

Only thing I dislike about this phone is the battery, but as other have said. Root->custom rom + kernel (and MAYBE soon Xposed) and this phone is at least average in battery life.
If you don't root (and is a power user, the phone is not for you). With root + custom rom + few tweaks I can go around 3-6 hours SOT on data (depending on brightness) and 6+ on wifi. Without I barely hit 3.
Phones like the Xperia Z3 compact can hit 6 hours SOT without root. So yeah, if rooting this phone is great, if not it sucks from a power user perspective.

Overall love

Yes, yes, it's possible to love a phone. Heck, you sleep next to it, don't you? Rate this thread to indicate your love for the OnePlus 2, all things considered. A higher rating indicates that the OnePlus 2 is an incredible phone that you enjoy tremendously. You love it.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
well made phone, doesn't feel flimsy. SD810 doesn't seem to have the heat issues, screen could be a little better outside, battery life is great, the notification slider on the side is brilliant idea. Oxygen OS by itself sucks but with Xposed and several modules made the phone tons better.
Nice nice phone. I don't regret it!
Battery
Battery standby is extreme long. Tested it: in 12hours lost 3%. (Wi-Fi and Mobile Network was permamently active in my test)
But the active display standby is ~~~ lame.
Its got bit warm than my one+1 but it's ok.
Chasis/Design
The Chasis of phone is real AlMg. You can brake someones nose with that (not tested! )
It feels good in my hands, a bit heavier than one+1
Buyed with Kevlar StyleSwap Cover. Too bad, it's not fitting perfectly but it sit.
Sound
Speakers are louder than my laptop speakers. Clear Sound, no scratches heared.
Speed test and stability
Fast app start, smooth scrolling, switches fast between the apps.
Antutu Benchmark test:
Test run fine with over 55fps average.
With fully installed apps, games, tools etc..
Benchmark result: >58000
Camera/Video
Photo quality is very good. Takes pictures faster as one+1 and in good quality. nothing to say negative about it.
Videos are in good quality too. You can take slow-motion videos too (720p with 120fps)
SD Card
It's a bit faster as in one+1!
~3451MB (28183 files) Recovery backup done in 74 sec.
64MB/s Read/Write speed.
For a phone with 64GB internal memory it's enough speed.
Well. That's all importand tests i have done. If i have missed something, write it down here. i try to answer.
EDIT:
Very easy to unlock bootloader. Same way as in one+1.
Done it in under 5 minutes
On my old phone it was a real ass-disaster... (Xperia S) Never ever again
There are minor software glitches. But I expect everything to be fine in coming months. More than decent performance
love...mostly
i like the oneplus 2 overall, but not yet real excited about oxygen and updates only about once a month since purchase.
the type c connector seems to be usb type 2. OP apparently neglected to make accessory cables (power & otg) for the type c connection on 1+2, except power cable that comes w/phone. this, as of dec., 2015.
For otg: apparently you must go backwards to their usb type 2 otg (made for 1+1) and use their adapter from micro usb to type c connector.
tried a 3rd party otg type c that is usb 3.1: incompatable. perhaps update will fix this (i hope, since i
want to be able to use a flash drive w/phone since it has no micro sd slot). snc
I can try many roms

Awesome phone
overall. i m very dissapointed with this phone. Beautiful hardware with strong internals, the oos just make this phone extremely slow
Really love the phone since i installed CM 13
That runs really smooth and fast + great batterylife
I don't know if my OPT is defective, the speaker volume is very low. youtube videos or music is "ok" but especially ringtones are very low, I can't hear them outside of my house. At work in my pants it's impossible to hear and feel the phone because the vibration isn't strong enough. If Frenk_Ryder writes that the speaker is louder then the notebook speakers it's hard to believe for me. really?
and the battery life is horrible on my device. plugged it off the charger on 6 am and have only 20 percent on 12 pm with 2 - 3 hours SOT. I'm using the unofficial mahdi builds of cm13. the performance is good but Android System seems to be a battery hogger. I don't know why or what's the problem.
oxygen OS lacks much features of Cyanogen OS or Cyanogenmod and is "not complete at all", and Android System always is on top of the battery stats list. what is the issue for that? I mean Oxygen OS 2.2.0, older versions may be better in terms of battery life?
I hope anyone can help me with my device. thx
Was contemplating going with the Galaxy S6, but the Notification Slider was a real deal-maker for me (especially being loyal to the Galaxy lineup since S1).
Now owning the 1+2, I noticed I can not discreetly silent my phone in my pocket without taking it out and drawing attention in a meeting).
Have any of you found the Notification Slider to be a lot more useful than you originally thought it to be?

When does the issue appear about the volume speaker ?
For the battery life, try another rom ( CM13, Skydragon, H2O, .. )

tried almost all the roms, some have something or the other missing, others have serious battery drain some have wifi issues, others camera is bull****. I miss my z2 so much and i will sell my op2 and get a nexus 7 or whatever its called, when its released
awesome, just needs a bit of software polish...
Near flawless
I have had many phones, mostly Samsungs and LGs. Let me tell you this Oneplus 2 is the perfect phone. WIth the latest OOS 3.0.1 MM, Xposed with Gravitybox, and nova launcher on top, it's a brilliant setup. This thing gets higher scores than the Nexus 6p on every benchmark i've tested, I can game for at least 33 minutes straight of Nova3 (that's the longest straight time I've played any game so far) and no overheating and NO lagging or slowdowns. I don't understand the controversy over overheating and throttling, perhaps the latest models being manufactured are the best models. Overall, I love this phone, also, battery life is incredibly for me. I go two days without one charge and that's using texting about 500 sms a day and web browsing, light youtube, and light music, ON wifi. I've never had a phone quite like it, and for 350 bucks! Awesome.:good::good::good:
Coming from a clapped out Nexus 4, I wanted to really like my One Plus 2 (Oxygen OS 2.2.1) but it was hard; a perfectly adequate phone, but not overwhelming.
The Marshmallow upgrade to Oxygen 3.0.2 has made it the phone it should always have been. It's faster, the fingerprint unlock is better and instantaneous (and no need to wake the device first), the occasional stutters have stopped, the battery lasts longer on standby.
The two standout features for me, however, are not software. Firstly, the alert slider is brilliant. Secondly, there are plenty of cheap Dual SIM phones but few decent ones (in the UK at least).
I only got access to the true potential of the sd810 after switching to a custom rom & kernel
Its Great phone overall.
I guess the sales could be much larger quantities if there were not invites.

I have developed a great degree of love for this phone, especially since it got a wealth of custom ROMs. It performs well, the battery life is excellent, it doesn't prevent me from installing custom ROMs or rooting, and all-in-all I love it. It handles everything I throw at it like a champ, and doesn't complain, and all for less than $300
its a good phone, but i had few hard times because of lack software updates from manufacturer (no android 7.0, no android 7.1, nothing) like on every other non-google phone, but thats life i finally fixed all major issues and it simply works, so i like it again

I don't want to save battery....just make my Mi 4i fastest.....

I dont know what forum you use to frequent but here we encourage you to read the previous threads. There's a reason why phone manufacturers don't want to use max performance all the time and its not just battery life. 4 cores at 1.7ghz constant can heat up your phone super quick, so just imagine what all 8 cores online will do for you.before anything else, your phone will thermal throttle.
Don't just look at the specs. look at the price point you paid and what the original design was meant to do. want a faster phone, get one that wont heat up so much or get thermal throttled.

Okkk..,.may be i was little harsh in my thread title. I just want to know some tweaks or some kernel for better performance. That's all
My experience with Mi4i.......
1. It does not gel well, with not so popular apps, hence you may try uninstalling some of the bloatware.
2. Try using some apps like DU Speed Booster, which can advise you about the phones problems and you can take actions there to resolve them. (Does not require root)
3. Not all in-house MI ROM's are good for Mi4i, Try using the most stable ones. perhaps 7.0.3.0, better if you fasboot it. I am not sure about CM, Resurrection etc.
4. Its time to move on, Fpkrt is offering a discount of 2600 in exchange for Lenovo K3 Note (Read User reviews if that excites you)......your best bet is Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 32GB, if you would like to stick to MIUI.
