Google Hangout issue - Android Apps and Games

My girlfriend recently switched from an iPhone 4S to a Oneplus One. A little issue we've noticed is when she wants to message me when she hits the "+" and starts typing my name, a dialogue box pops up and states "multiple profiles found". One has just my email address (with an old Google Plus) photo, and another shows my phone number and email (from the People app). If she clicks the one with my Google Plus photo, it will start a Hangout, and if shes clicks the other, it opens up as SMS. I've tried to completely delete my Google Plus profile but the dialogue box still shows up. Anybody have an idea how to fix this?

Disregard. I firgured it out on my own. Mod you can close.

Having the same issue...
can you please share how you fixed this issue?

"My co-worker George and his girlfriend"

Hello everyone,
Very odd. Whenever I reply (text message) this one person, this is what is already there in my text box on my TB. It's very annoying. It's there automatically, without me entering in ANYthing. So far, it's only happening with one of my contacts, but I haven't tried texting ALL of my contacts yet, so I don't know how widespread the problem is. Does anyone know what's wrong/if there's a fix?

For the fix go ask George's girlfriend.
If I am reading this right, I had a similar problem before.
I entered some text. Had to back out of SMS for some reason. Everytime after that, whenever I open to text the same person, the partially typed message would be displayed even if I had sent a finish version of that message already.
So... did you type in whatever it is that's bugging you before, or did it just appear out of thin air?
I don't remember how I fixed my problem but it was fixed. Try deleting your draft? Rebooting your phone?
Simple, in the mms apk
Down at the bottom there are three or two icons, slide over to the second and open the text message with the text.. now delete it and back out
Repeat the process because sometimes it saves more than one draft
The reason it does this is because the first icon is the "all" tab and so it doesn't allow u to delete drafts
So u have to navigate to the SMS/mms and delete from there
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA Premium App
I had the exact same problem. I did the suggestions previously posted. I ended up having to delete the message cache. Do a search on and Android Central for my post since I can't remember exactly what to do.
I found the thread but can't post url. Need a few more posts.
If you haven't got it fixed try:
Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications -> All. Tap "Messages" and clear cache.
I had this happen.
Go to messaging app, then to menu, then to drafts. Delete the drafts and the problem should be fixed.

Bug in Gmail app?

I have an annoying bug with the gmail apk.
When I hit the "sync" button to look for new emails (I have autosync turned off) and I have a new mail, the app would show me "Inbox (1)" in the upper left corner, meaning there should be one new email. However, sometimes/often that one new email just won't appear in the emails list. I can see my old mails but the new one just isn't there, altough the (1) is displayed. When I go to my the "All mails" Category instead of the "inbox", I can see it, also when I look it up on the PC.
This happens sometimes more, sometimes less often (last time yesterday), and I have no Idea why so. Sometimes I would get for example 3 new mails, but only 2 are displayed
Anyone else with that problem?
me too facing this
You don't have to "sync" gmail as it uses push. So just check the "sync" option and emails should get pushed to your phone when they are received. Why did you turn that option off?
Sent from my brain
Do you refer to the "Auto-Sync" option under Accounts & sync? Because I cannot find a "Push" option anywhere...
If you mean that, I deactivated it because it sucks alot of energy as it refreshes all the time in order to fetch your mails. I'd rather just go into the app and check for new mails myself.
And the fact that sometimes I see the mails in my inbox and sometimes I don't (only the number in brackets appears in the upper left corner but no mail) tells me that this is indeed a bug.
How come only 2 people are having this?
That's not how PUSH works

That's not how PUSH works. Resources are NOT used, or used so little to be insignificant when you have GMail set up to Sync. Basically, as long as there are no messages, you will never get a notification, and your phone will not check mail. When a message is sent to you, ONLY THEN will your phone "do something" by displaying the fact that you have a message.
However, if you use HTC's mail function, that's another story. There you have to actually decide how often you want the app to check mail, or do it manually, as you are doing now. So, even if you get no mail, it will still check as often as you have it set up to do so. This uses far more resources.
Again, if you have GMail set up properly, just leave it alone. It will only "do something" when there is mail. Otherwise, nothing.
Peter
Thank you for the input, much appreciated. Guess I had the wrong Idea of how Push works. I know people kept saying that it eats battery life like crazy on the iphone back then.
So, is "Auto-Sync on" (Accounts & sync menu) = Push on?
Because I still can't find an entry that says push.
Finally, I still have that bug in gmail....

Message Alert (HELP PLEASE)

Hey all,
One of my friend knows this technique of sending a message type of notification. The message comes, displayed on my home screen . It doesn't say who it came from or anything. My friend is not telling me how he's doing this. I don't know if its an app or what. I will post a pic (a screenshot i took) of how it exactly looks. It works with iPhone and even android, He's using a iPhone though .
he is changing the message to priority 0 which makes pop up no matter what and you have to dismiss them, the apps that do this arent easy to come by especially since most providers block it. Google playstore use to have one but they removed it
You are referring to Flash SMS or Class 0 messages as stricker49 pointed out. One app that does this - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jomegasoft.flashsmsnoad2&hl=en

Gmail Chat Heads?

Over the past couple of days, when I receive an email, I get a Facebook messenger style chat head pop up, with an actual pop up of the email message. It's really rather annoying because it steals the focus away from whatever I was doing, so if I was in the middle of typing a message, the focus would instead be given to the pop up, so I would be typing in that. It even appears over my lock screen (I don't have any lock screen security), but means I don't have to unlock my phone to interact with the pop up. And yes, in exactly the same was as Facebook Messenger, I can press and drag the chat head to the bottom, where a little trash icon pops up, to remove it from the screen.
I have been searching online for anything about this, but can't find any information, and I've searched through the settings to try and disable it, but nothing appears obvious.
Does anyone else have this problem?
I'm running Android 6.0.1 with the Gmail android app (version 6.5-1.123769152.release).
I've attached a screenshot so you can see what I'm talking about.
I found the problem.. It was a third party app I had downloaded, Notifly. I have since removed it

OK i use the S8+ and i HAD a huge problem with whatsapp notifications and the always pop up display. I like having the pop up appearing each time i receive
a whatsapp message, instead of that small blue pop box at top of screen. I tried everything to rectify the problem and even emailed whatsapp to sort it out.
As usual i just got a generic reply. All of the settings in the app and phone were all set properly and i was angry.
Besides whatsapp , i was also NOT getting proper text message notifcations, but the same old blue small banner at top of the screen.
What i did next astounded me. I DELETED whatsapp from my phone..................i reinstalled it straight away BUT..............................
Whilst i was installing it again, there are some TICK boxes to complete. The first was the usual stuff like allow all things like contacts, location, numbers etc etc......................the next box it asked if i wanted something to do with SMS settings etc (i forgot now)................i DECLINED this one or ticked NO.
Now.....everytime i use whatsapp i get the proper pop up screen......even in the locked screen, and i receive proper text messages as well. No more small blue banner at top of screen. So i guess if you accept the second box on installation you get the small banner preview box and it therefore conflicts against whatsapp..........and if you declne......you get a proper whatsapp and a proper text message.
Hope this clears everything up

That blue pop-up is most likely being caused by Edge Lighting being on.
