Naztech Wireless Ultra Charging Pad (45 degree) - Galaxy S 5 Accessories

After trying out wireless charging with $5 puck off eBay I wanted to get myself something better. My requirements were: black, small, tilted and usb connector compatible stand. (So for me Tylt Vu is too long plus it doesn't have usb connector)
I decided to go with "Wireless Ultra Charging Pad" from Naztech (ordered from eBay for $50 + $15 shipping).
I received the charger just yesterday. Fortunately for me, the charger looks really similar to the render and I like the design. It looks like it was made for S5 - the optimal position is right in the middle. (I'm no expert but based on the positions I tried it looks like a 1-coil charger.)
Unfortunately the excitement got away quickly thanks to:
LEDs - It has two LEDs: red one (always on) and green one (for charging). The green one is lit when phone is charging. When charging finishes, it starts blinking. I was aware of them and they look discreen but I just hate leds, especially blinking ones which are not mentioned in description of $60 product and they cannot be turned off (well, black tape to rescue).
Beep - It beeps when charging starts. I read that Tylt Vu also beeps but do they really have to? I wouldn't buy it if I knew it is such long and high beep (again, it's not listed in product description). The worst is that the charger has no screws so muting the beeper isn't so easy.
Slipping - I have geniune back cover with QI receiver from Samsung but the 45 degree rubber pad just isn't able to hold the phone and it is traveling down with the speed of 1-2 cm per 5 minutes. This makes me very angry. S5 is listed as compatible. When I put there only the back cover itself it was also slipping (I'm not sure if I will bother uploading it). I also tried my tablet without Qi - LG G Pad 8.3 which has aluminium back but even this didn't help.
No response - Before ordering from eBay I was unable to use 20% discount from Naztech shop. I sent them email asking for help but never received a reply.
The only good thing is that I decided not to order two pieces (one for home, other to work). I'm afraid I will not be returning the charger because shipping would cost me significant amount of the charger cost and time. Also the eBay seller undervalued the package so I better don't want additional charges or other issues when sending it back.

Working attempt to stop the slipping (used some rubber bands):
I might also end up replacing the rubber pad with something better...

This makes me very angry, lmao.
There's so much more in life to get upset about. Go outside.

try searching for a charger from yijieneng, i've started a thread on this, it has what you are looking for.

I already got $15 charging orb. Phone sits wonderfully on it and makes no beeps so I ordered another one for work.

I was pleasantly surprised - it doesn't feel cheap at all, it's quite heavy and looks well made, at least the all black version I got ("Made in Korea" ). Also unlike other chargers ($5 puck or this Naztech) it doesn't make any buzzing during charging.

with most of the chargers, you can just remove the buzzer, but you can't do anything with the phone.
I have about 12 chargers, I change them every few months.:fingers-crossed:

My Home Cradle/Charger

I recently saw this and made sense to me to get the sucker. I have my N1 in front, my iTouch in the back and my wife's SE can be charged on the last remaining slot.
This unit is really small, pretty well belt and comes in black/silver/pink. And they have the 3 or 2 charging slots and come with either a 6 tip package or you can pick and choose 4 tips, according to what you want to charge.
Here's the unit, I got the silver 3 slot version. It has a on/off switch on the back as well in case you want to just turn off the unit when not in use.

The seller, idaptweb.com. Its a great site, but communication is lacking. I received this unit in about a week. Ships from Spain I think.
There's no possible way that can be good for the micro usb port of your nexus. Or any device for that matter. Get your rma ready!

That's what I initially thought as well. But to me its pretty sturdy. I have the OEM cradle at work as my backup anyways. But I will continue to monitor it just in case.

It's an iTouch actually. The privacy screen is from proporta.com. They do have iphone privacy screen protectors as well. Its a very well made product IMO.
UPDATE:
I continue to use this "universal" charger at home and have the OEM one at work. I have NOT had any issues with the bottom of the headset. The unit is well made and so is the N1.
Here is another "universal" charger as well. About 100 bux USD on this site but looks pretty contemporary as well. I have not used this one, but from the looks of it, the base is a cushion type base, that gives a bit to hold the devices.

For the asthetics, its ok in my book. Each his/her/it own. You can rub your
.02 up your collective tight twat and ask for change at your local KMart.
As for the wearing down of the port, it may but by the time that happens, I may be on to my next handset. Just my .02

If not for the apple accessories, I would have told you to wait until Energizer released one of those pad-charge-capable batteries for the N1.
Also, if you use the pins instead of the microUSB connector a la desktop/car dock, the phone charges RIDICULOUSLY faster. I've had data, GPS, music, etc. with my phone docked and it still went up 20% in charge during a less than 10 minute trip. I wish I could make something like that up. (It was uncomfortably warm, but definitely usable)

Another dock

I bought this dock for my wife's Sensation, and tried it on my MT4GS, and it fitted without a problem.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B007CU1XZM
when the HTC Sensation is fitted, the headphone socket is obscured, but with the MT4GS you can slide the display up of course and expose the headphone jack. It does shift the centre of gravity which could be a problem.
the fit is quite tight you if you do have a case you'll have to remove it - or at least the case back if you have the keyboard open.
if anyone wants, I'll take a photo with it fitted.
I guess you could drill out a whole for a headphone....
Here's the US market version. http://www.amazon.com/Aftermarket-Product-Charging-Replacement-Sensation/dp/B006VAKXZA

The phone sits pretty well, the keyboard is a little bit slid out as the phone is a bit thicker, and there's no access to the power button. Pretty good thing for 9 bucks value. I'm considering about adopting this dock for my car and it would be nice to have audio-out also there at the same time. Anybody done this?

Well, I bought different dock (also for Sensation) for $10, which you can see in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1710736
I had the same idea as you do, to use it as a "stand" in my car. I have tried that in a "dry test" and it seemed like a good idea at first, so I ordered second dock and when it arrived I just placed it on rubbery-gel mat on my dashboard and voila - good to go, or so I thought.
Unfortunately when I started to drive with it, the phone rattles. Placing thin rubber strips didn't help, it only eliminated the noise, but the phone was still (silently now) rattling there on the dock while driving. I was afraid this constant vibration will damage the microUSB port sooner or later, since the port is the only thing holding the phone on the dock, and after couple days I quit using it. Also inserting and removing phone to/from dock wasn't comfortable, because my windshield is at pretty high angle I couldn't just insert phone into dock or remove it from dock, unfortunately I had to take the whole dock towards steering wheel to do it.
I'm just placing my phone on a dashboard mat against the fold (so it stays in horizontal mode upright) and plug the sound cable from my wifi transmitter and power cable if needed. This way is the most convenient way for me. If I won't forget I'll take some pictures.
Anyways, I would strongly advise against using any desktop docks in a car, because - regardless of dock's model or shape - they all have 1 thing in common: phone is being hold there just by the microUSB plug, which is not designed for this purpose, and it is rather delicate and easy to damage (once I broke miniUSB plug in my HTC TyTN II just by slightly prying phone into the dock because I was too lazy to get up in my bed... and the miniUSB socket by design is way sturdier than this crappy microUSB socket in our MT4GS).
Driving will cause the phone to shake/vibrate/rattle in the dock on your dashboard, and I am sure it will cause damage to the microUSB port sooner or later.
HTH
Thanks for the advice. Went to ebay for the official mytouch car kit with holder (with intergrated micro-USB connector) and found one for just a 10.5 bucks + S&H cost. Unfortunately, that seller doesn't ship internationally So I found another one, this time it costed total of 28 bucks. But for such price I get an ultimate solution.

Does anyone have an idea where to get the stickers like the one sown above (which is for a galaxy note). They should be avaiable because the stickers are already used in the official charging back covers.
anyone any clue if they will be made avaiable soon by some third party?
Why not just try one of the generic made-in-China ones available on ebay or alibaba?
Its the Qi standard, so as long as you match up the solder pads properly it will just work - doesn't matter that its made for a Samsung.
Typically you need to buy 100+ quantity from alibaba-listed companies, but if you setup a website or ebay store to make yourself look like a volume importer, you can request samples and can get 1-2 units at a time

The phone just needs to be compatible with the Qi standard like the 820 is. More info here:

The sticker itself produces enough power to charge the battery no additional hardware required... It's charging with 700 mAh
You only need to connect sticker to the right connectors... so you will need some wires..
You can buy them on ebay...

It's thicker than the standard cover, or maybe someone uses a third party cover with a different color where wireless charging isn't available...

When you meter the wireless charging case you get going from the phone left to right -,-,?,+
What it appears to be is the outer of the four contacts is power from the shell to the phone. The inner is signal from the phone to the shell to let the charger know its full.
I have attached a picture to show the outer connectors from the prospective of the wireless shell. Maybe this may help, I have been thinking about doing this as well, I just haven't found a Qi pad I like and good way to support it in the shell.

I have been working on this for a while with the 820, its harder to take the stock Qi pad from lets say a S3 or S4 then just to buy the 25 buck charging case. That being said I was too cheap, So I spent 18 bucks on a QI pad, had my original black case milled out to put in a Carbon Fiber insert and then mounted everything on top of that. However in my hast, I totally forgot that Carbon Fiber is 1. a conductor and 2. it pretty much is an RF blocker. So now after spending like 30 bucks on something in my head I thought would look cool it turned out to be not functional. I had to then buy a new black case for like 9 bucks on Ebay, to start the project over again.
By the way, no phone company would make a phone with real Carbon Fiber. 1. its about 100 dollars per sq foot and 2. your signal will be worse then the iPhone 4 when you held it the "wrong way".

All Chinese Qi chargers are not the same (not that you thought they were..)

So after picking up my S5 and absolutely HATING the USB3 connector on it, I decided I would go to a wireless charger. Read reviews and everyone has a different opinion so I got what I could find easily on eBay.
I picked up a charger for my wife's S4 and my S5, though not from the same seller (Neither seller had charge cards for both phones)
Wife got a pink one (to match her Otterbox Defender....more on that in a minute) and I picked up a blue one for my S5
Hers arrived and I went to work putting in the card. Worked flawlessly even through the big Otterbox. Awesome!
Mine came a few days later. Put the card in my phone (no case) and plugged in the charger. First thing I notice is the light to let you know its plugged in is VERY dim compared to the wife's. Weird but ok. Put the charge card in and put it on the charger.....nothing. Move it around some...finally find the exact spot it needs to charge (which happens to be 180 degrees from how you use the phone) Just a slight touch and its not charging. Also noticed her charging indication light on the pad is green, the one on mine was a very, very dim red.
So, thinking its the charge card...I test with the pink Qi charger. Works fine no matter how I put it on.
Contacted the seller, they told me to take the case off my phone, after my initial complaint stated I do not use a case on my phone. That was it..all communication stopped after their first response. I eventually won the case and got a refund. Seller was "findmall".
Anyway, the wife found she doesn't use hers as much as she though so I swapped insides (I can't use a pink charger lol). Here are the pics...the one I ordered for mine (blue) looks quite a bit different, both in quality of the charge coil solder connections, and the circuit board. Both look identical on the outside other than color.
Hope this helps someone. The good charger came (very quickly) from "accmonster" on eBay and was about $3 more.
Pics of them opened up before the swap:

From my shopping I'd think there are very few factories actually making these things, My LuguLake one is very similar externally. It does work fine for all my Qi capable devices. Amazon/ebay sellers often have 8-10 Qi chargers, probably the same internals.
I also have a raw Qi transmitter ordered from China that works ok, very bright LEDs. I haven't installed it in a case or whatever yet but the LEDs are almost too bright. It is a different design from your 2.

The coil was pictured as a separate piece on ebay, wired to the board. I was a little bummed to see it sandwiched as it doubles thickness making the existing car mount I wanted to mod not feasible with out weakening it to much. I may make a nightstand or desk top with it embedded. Need to test how well it works through a thin veneer. But it does work fine in basic testing.
The Lugulake QI charger has the identical back as yours also, gotta be same case maker and probably same factory.

Don't bother
I've tried a couple of the MicroUSB adapters from AliExpress/eBay and I wouldn't bother again. They are difficult to connect/lineup in the dark, and the magnets aren't strong enough to keep the cable attached if there is any tension on the cable at all. Mine connects in the hand, but as soon as I put the phone down they fall off. You would need a very very thin and flexible cable for these to be practical.
I think almost all are like that.
I've had 3 magnetic chargers from ebay. Out of the 3 , the strongest one and the one that lines up easiest is the one from the picture I posted in the 2nd post.
the magnector x ones are very strong and very well reviewed on the whole, although one or two are claiming that the magnetic ports have been ripped out of the phone, and sony are refusing to recognise it as a manufacturing issue - I have both magnector adapters, although I've since switched to a more generic tube shaped third party product, which is more fiddly to connect but which potentially puts less strain on the socket - aim for a compromise, and they're not all crap

I got my Magnector X delivered today and it fits really well. I find it hard to believe the magnet pulled out any part of the port, the magnet isn't really that strong. If for any reason it did damage it, though, after reading what you said (cheers), I wouldn't even mention I used it and would demand for my phone to be fixed under warranty.
Edit: Since posting this I have read the other thread where the ports have became lose and pulled out. I didn't realise it was a separate part that slots into the side.
