Hello
Is there any magical way to take a 5" phone (for example) and make it display only as a 4" (or smaller)? So it will be more easily handled with one hand?
My HTC Desire S is dying, and I realize that all the reasonable smartphones are at least 4.3" which is too big for me. So if I can make the HTC One act like a 3.7" smartphone (as seen in the lame illustration I've attached) I'd be veerryy happy!!
Do you know An app? a launcher? Some ROM with these kind of display tweaks?
Tnx
There are some xposed modules that can give you this. I believe they are called one handed mode or something around that.
I would check but I don't have xposed installed atm
Frameworks ???

I am not into this thing of frameworks. I guess it requires root, right? How can I check if it will work for my device? (I still try to choose between HTC One (M7) and LG G2)

Xposed works for most devices and does require root. I wouldn't know whether it works for your device or not. I usually make a nandroid backup in a custom recovery before I try installing xposed.
I am willing to assist you in any way, just let me know if you need anything.

I'll try to find out and it might be the overbalance point between the two phones I am considering.

Also, one thing is, try to get used to the larger screen. I know its hard to use one handed, but you might get used to the larger screen

You could get the xperia z3 compact. It has the same exact specs of the full 5.2 inch Z3, but it has a 4.6 screen.
Don't know if that helps, but they are the only ones making smaller phones without cutting corners on the specs. (Only thing is it goes from a 1080p screen to a 720p, but in all honesty I use a 4.7 inch 720p screen on my optimus G and it looks just fine. I don't really see that as cutting corners. 720p would save you battery too.)

I'm afraid even 4.6 is much too much for me. I guess I will just look for the phone with the beat battery life (at a reasonable size that can fit my pocket), and try to shrink the display. I a late-night web digging, I found this:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.hamzah.onehandmode.premium
It will require root and xposed framework, but it will give some solution....

I rock a Droid Eris (yes I'm pissed that Verizon isn't going to release a Stock Froyo ROM) and before I root it and put Froyo on it JUST to spite Verizon, I want to make absolutely sure the phone is in good working order before I void the warranty.
I think I'm getting phantom screen taps but I'm not sure, so I'm looking for an app that will do the following:
1. Log the number of screen taps in realtime
2. show where on the screen the latest few taps were located on the screen, using colors, crosshairs, ect.
Can anyone recommend such a touch screen test app?
hi, i know this is a pretty old post... but... i was wondering if you were able to find any touch screen test app?
i am also looking for one!
thank you!

Way to necro a post dude!
Although I did find a good touch screen test for the tablets I sell. I think its called "TouchUtil" or something similar. If you are still interested, I'll go to work and see what its exactly called.

Hello,
I've recently bought Galaxy S4 clone and it was working great, till I tried rooting it.
The rooting was through *android kingo root* and everything went flawless. After 15 minutes, I noticed that the screen is black but there's backlight led. I thought it might be out of charge or any silly reason, tried every possible solution but couldn't get any help.
The phone turns on and I can receive calls and reply by guessing the place, I also can hear the unlock/lock sounds. But no luck in turning screen on.
Any help guys ?
this is urgent
Bump.
Sorry but the case is realy urgent. Please enlighten me with any help. /:
This is really important guys /:
Hope anyone can give me a hint ..
Clone
Don't know about a clone but i can think of just two things,
First maybe it's a hardware problem and need to be repaired!
Second if it is caused due to rooting or anything then you can try flashing the official firmware of your device (if available).

Well I think its a hardware problem, because the phone starts up and I can hear sounds.
I could get a screenshot from the phone and see the karnel/baseband ... etc (Attachments)
I don't know where I could find a replacement screen or a rom flashed. Could you assist me with some hints or links?
Thanks.

A screen you should be able to order from china. A rom, now that will be harder to find as clone have almost no support or developers.

Well see thats the issue with clones. No telling what part they used from where.
This is all I could find.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2512243
To be honest it maybe cheaper to replace the device with an authentic version from somewhere like swappa or something.

Well, at the moment I have no money at all. I spent it all on the phone and didn't complete 2 weeks. I will try to save some money in the next months to buy another phone or parts.
If anyone has another solution please tell me.
Is it possible to load stock android on the htc one m8? If not will it be possible in the future?
Thanks

In the future it will be possible.
It would be quicker to post a sticky about the things we currently cannot do with the M8.
Thanks for the responses. I like the phone but hate all the extra crap they put on it. I want it to be stock so I can decide what to install.
Not in the near future... A lot needs to happen to make this possible

There is no timeline to be put on this. It will happen as soon as a way is found. the M7 was released end of August, and S-OFF wasn't achieved until right around October. It may be soon, it may take months. Its up to how well the community supports the dev's along with a bit of luck.
Does anyone know if there is a way to make just the soft keys appear like stock/nexus keys, softkeyz currently is not compatible but does gravity box or any app out there work for what I'm trying to do any help would be really appreciated.

Hey guys,
Its been a while since I rooted my phone (I've been using Samsung phones with locked bootloader) and it sure feels good to be back!
Now, I've been out of the loop for so long that I don't know what I should do next with my rooted V20!
I would love to have you guys come in here and discuss how we can make our V20 even better!
Thing's I've done so far.
Install Adaway
Remove Bloatware using titanium backup (is there better way to remove bloatware beside titanium backup?)
So far I removed all the TMobile apps, is there anything else I should remove that will improve the battery life?
Thanks and lets get this thread going! :good:

I hear ya, I was on a S7 Edge and a S6 before that. It has been a while. With that being said, LG stuff can mostly go....unless you use it. It doesn't seem to be too bad, so you might be able to leave them. Download Better Battery Stats and see what is causing any wakelocks that can be prevented.
Has anyone managed to get rid of Lookout? I hate that thing and want it gone.

Might want to FREEZE apps instead of uninstalling until a viable stock restore is available
Adblocking for sure. Should help improve battery life a hair by not downloading data for ads and processing them to be shown.
I smell a brick about to happen. Way too fast....How would you recover ? Be careful people.....Paperweights are not fun
I just read somewhere At&t has a locked bootloader...Figures

From what I've read, TWRP isn't doing proper nandroids, and there isn't a stock image to flash. At the risk of sounding "elitist," I'd recommend going slow.
At&t didn't even have the HTC 10 when I went in. The good days are dying....Root, I will miss you

I haven't gotten the phone yet (though LG store has already called me that I can get it already just been busy due to all saints day festivities) so wanted to ask, how did you root your v20? and what version is your V20?

I know what's in the root thread in the development section.
Is this what you're looking for?
The problems with the .tot files in a nutshell.
I'm not a dev. I can bearly muddle my way around ADB commands. I know what I know from watching the struggles in the root thread. Yeah, there's root and little else. The process doesn't seem quite ready for prime time which of course hasn't stopped the root commandos.
I CAN CONTROL THE WORLD WITH ROOT! LOL . No but really, what can't you do with root? you can do everything as long as the phone doesnt required to implement any new hardware within the phone... I like my Adaway, and greenify, and removes or freeze apps i dont like nor need, I like my pie bar for faster shortcuts (sure, the phone itself has the second screen to put up to 5 apps, but the pie bar give you a lot more options so i will have the 5 on the second screen plus the many mores in the pie bar which is a fast process too, maybe even faster than the second screen), i also like my xposed for every module i desire, AND MY BELOVED TITANIUM BACKUP! and many many more things
The one thing I hope and pray to see come from this newly acquired root is a camera mod that will allow 16MP in full 16:9. Please pull through devs! I would donate for that :highfive:

That's likely because the sensor isn't 16:9 shaped, it's 4:3. You have to crop the sensor to get 16:9.

Ask them, I really don't work for oneplus so I can't say :/ AOD isn't there natively on the phone so I wouldn't mention that part, but I'm sure they'll figure it out anyhow. Most custom roms has burn in protection for it that moves it around to avoid this, not sure if you used a bad module or something ?*
