I was on stock rom and performance was awesome but since I installed cyanogenmod the fluidity is not great, I guess it's because they have ****ty kernel, I was francos kernel but idk if it will work on cm milestone 11

No you need a CAF kernel. Try elementalX or Chaos

I'm using MIUI 1.7.22 w/Matr1x v5.0 bfs and performance and batt life has been good. Koushdecks 1.2.1 is also good as well, Mikeys roms are pretty sweet too. But everyone has different taste on these kind of things. So try to use one that fits you best. I usually just switch from rom to rom once in awhile.
I'm using oxygen 2.1.6 just come from cm7.1

I'm using Matr1x 5.0 cfs kernel with stock ROM. I haven't OC'd but the native settings seems to be giving me a good balance between speed, stability and battery life.

You can't Franco will probably never support cyanogen again since they've changed there base from aosp to Qualcomm
And why is this in accessories?

There is a colorfix zip floating around in Franco and aokp threads just search for it under nexus 4

You can run the nightly from 10-1-2013 and back.

Good question, but there's no definitive answer... Different roms need different kernels..

The only custom kernel currently available that works reliably with kitkat is Devil Kernel: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=46810981&postcount=452

Quite a few ROMs that say AOSP but have CAF parts in them, such as Carbon.

ROMs that have some CAF aspects (Sound etc), generally don't say they do - and also use AOSP kernels anyway.
OK I extend my Answer
"Basically, by reading the thread of the ROM you're using. If it is not obvious, ask in the ROM thread - Do not ask in Kernel threads"
