I'm trying to figure out which of the slimmest Note 4 cases available would be most ideal for me in terms of overall thinness, material quality, and style...oh, yeah, and protection, but those of us who are interested in really slim cases usually aren't as worried about this aspect as those who are getting the bulky, super-protective cases.
Right now, it's between these two for me:
Spigen Thin Fit

Ringke SLIM Case

Anyone else in the same boat as me or find other good options?
I ordered the Spigen Thin fit the other day. Hopefully it's pretty slim. I even picked up a Flygrip http://shop.flygrip.com/ Just to see what it's capable of. I hope I can just use the phone one handed with the thing, so we'll see.

I'm probably leaning towards the Spigen Thin Fit myself. What I am a little worried about is that the lip over the display may be too short, but it seems to be enough from the pictures.
Go for the Ringke since it provides both top and bottom coverage
I hope they'll make the 0.5mm case for the Note 4 soon.

The thing is, Spigen states that it's Thin Fit has a "Non-Slip Matte surface with a Grip", but for the Ringke's SLIM it only states "Perfect natural grip design by Rearth's efficiency engineering". This is sounds to me like the Spigen will be less prone to slippage and I feel like the top and bottom coverage isn't that big of a deal, especially since the Spigen has a slight indent on its top and bottom areas to absorb most of the drop if it happens to be there.
That being said, I still haven't made up my mind and would like to read some actual reviews/impressions of real world usage.

Ringke Slim has the non-slip soft grip, just look for the "SF <color>" naming scheme, it stands for Soft Feeling. Currently only in black.
I use the Ringke Slim "SF Black" for my Note 2, out of all the cases I have bought for the note 2, it's the only one I use. Already purchased the Note 4 version, much better design with the full coverage as the note 2's case isn't and the top and bottom edges are all scratched and dinged up.

That's good to know about the "SF Black" version and you may have just swayed my opinion towards the Ringke. Regarding your Note 2's case where the top and bottom aren't covered, are you prone to dropping your phone a lot or would you say you're pretty careful? I'm somewhere in the middle
Also, do you feel like the proposed 0.7mm lip/lift design is enough to prevent scratches on your display?

I've had my Note 2 for almost 2 years and the Ringke Slim on it for most of the time except for some other cases that were tried. I wouldn't say prone to dropping but i've probably dropped the phone ~10 times over it's lifetime all being pretty nasty drops onto concrete though (drunken nights out) and a couple times opening the car door with phone in hand and slipping from grip. The case and everything underneath it has held up great but the open areas are another story. I'd have to say the .7mm lip is more than enough. Up until about 2 months ago I had no screen protector on the phone (bought a tempered glass for the heck of it*) and the ringke slim for the note 2 only has about a .3 or .4mm lip, I always put my phone face down when not using it and few times when it was dropped and skidded across the concrete face down the screen never got a scratch.
In all reality there's really no need for a screen protector these days (or any worry of scratching/breaking) with the strength and durability of gorilla glass, especially since we're now on version 3 of it.
*as the phone ages and I get closer to upgrade time I get less careful

Another couple of selling points to me for the ringke over the spigen is that it doesn't have that ridiculous 'Auto Focus' embossed under the camera or the big brand name on the back, at least on the black version the 'ringke slim' name is nearly invisible, only shows if a bright light is on it and you see the reflection off the letters.
If you're somebody who uses the spen often the ringke has a sloped edge around the spen port which gives a more natural (as in no case) access feel to spen instead of a hard right angled edge like the spigen. You can see this in the pictures. This is one of the reasons I didn't like some of the other cases I tried for the Note 2.
...it's the little things
I've just received the spigen case today, no phone to try fitting it yet. The matte back feels good in the hand with decent grip, the ringke should feel the same as I've had it for my S4. If I were to choose again, I'd take the ringke for the extra protection on the top and bottom, it also has less wordings on the back. Another thing to consider, these cases tend to muffle the rear speaker when lay on a flat surface, which was the case for the S4, and I believe for the note 4 as well, I'll know on Wednesday when I get the phone. If that happens, I'll probably return and get something else.

Yeah, I think as of now I'm convinced to go with the Ringke.
That being said, I just realized both the Ringke and Spigen seem to have a slightly protruding camera bezel. Wonder if this will start to annoy me since my phone is usually lying on its back and my current case's back is flush...

Well, as you probably know, the note 4 and a lot of the other galaxy phones have protruding cameras, so these really slim cases has to design it that way so the lens won't be touching when lay down on its back. I believe the samsung a view and flip cases are designed that way as well.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/S-Shape-S-Line-TPU-Gel-Skin-Cover-Hard-Kick-Stand-Case-For-Samsung-Galaxy-Note-4-/351172730889?pt=US_Cell_Phone_PDA_Cases&var=&hash=item51c386a009
Slim and with a stand. Used this style for the past two Notes.
Taken them on and off many many times swapping batteries with no ill affects.
Camera does not protrude past the thickness of the case.
Only issue is it does not lay perfectly flat on it back due to the stand hinges. It's only a micro annoyance to me.
I have two sitting on my table so my Note 4 can go right into action!
(ordered a couple weeks ago so they'd arrive first along with a 128gb!)
I looked at the two cases you are considering and then went with a Spigen Ultra Hybrid for my slim case. Here is the link:
http://www.amazon.com/Spigen®-Cushi...qid=1413172114&sr=8-17&keywords=spigen+note+4
Since it's a new Spigen product, I don't know how it will perform. But, I have had good luck with Spigen products on my current Note 3. Spigen has shipped the case to me and I will be getting it sometime during this next week. I will also have the Spigen Neo Hybrid, Slim Armor, Tough Armor to use for comparison. On the Note 3, my current favorite case is the Spigen Slim Armor.
I had a case the exact same on my S3 as the spigen. It barely caught a bare edge and shattered whole screen... from knee height... get the ringke, that tiny bit extra could save your phone and that negative space on the spigen really made no sense case the corners still wrap over to just stop and leave vulnerable edges exposed.
If any of you guys are in the UK, then Amazon UK have a discount at the moment on the Ringke Slim cases, dropped the price from £20 to £5.99, and they're currently in stock too. Just bought myself one:

WOW, Just bought one ready for when mine arrives. Can't go wrong for that price.
I have never used a case with my note 3 and it is in excellent condition, no scratches or anything. The only reason I am considering a case for the note 4 is because of the metal band. I like the idea of metal but at least plastic is hard to scratch.

I have the Spigen thin fit and the Ringke Fusion. The fusion is also very thin and more grip then the Spigen. The fusion also seems to protect better, especially in the corners. It also has protective flip covers on the usb and headphone jack. Both cases have the perfect lip to protect the screen, with the Spigen lip only wrapping around the corners. All that being said, I still think I like the Spigen a smidgen better. ?

So I had an otterbox for my phone but it definitely added too much bulk.
I went ahead and bought a variation of this case: http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-SGH-i..._1_9?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1328678954&sr=1-9.
It barely adds any bulk, is comfortable to hold, and is probably one of the best slim cases for our phones. I haven't seen any other ones this size. I ordered a red one off ebay for about the same (amazon didn't cover them).
My white skyrocket + this red case looks amazing!
Platinum Series from Best Buy has been my favorite with several devices.
Hard rubber feel, adds minimal bulk, flat black
I forget the name brand manufacturer of the case, although I think best buys "brand" are cheaper anyhow. Guys on here know the name brand, I'll edit if i remember.

Ya they're the Seidio Surface cases and at Best Buy they're $35 whereas on the Seidio site they're $55 I think... I love the seidio cases and have used them on last few phones. Only thing about the PT cases from BB they're a little looser than usual... The bottom cap on my case got a little loose after taking the case off the first time and seems like it's getting looser every time I take the case off... Guess I'm gonna have to look for another case that fits in the holster...
This is the one I got this from eBay (link):

I bought a slim case by Diztronic on Amazon and I'm pretty impressed. It has a simple design and doesn't add a lot of bulk. Best of all for $12 delivered it can't be beat.
How much thicker would you say that SGP made the phone?
There is a rubber that goes around the screen which slightly raises the case but not by much...the rest fits like a glove so not much thicker.
Rearth has a slim case. i love it! BEST SLIM CASE. i also have a sgp neo hybrid as my rugged case.

I agree with you, for a slim case there is nothing slimmer than a TPU case. Also the TPU is smooth enough to let it slip in and out of your pockets.

It does look like the Rearth case is better than the TPU cases and I would like to try one but they are currently out of stock for the skyrocket everywhere I have looked. I don't like the tpu cases I have tried since the ones made for slim phones cover the buttons and make them hard to press. I like the "hard" mesh cases that are the most lightweight and thinnest that I have seen for other phones, but the only two types made for the Skyrocket that I have found are either hybrid with TPU underneath or one I found on ebay that is thin and light, but does not protect the bottom or top edges or the corners and sticks out a bit so looks poorly made. Hopefully Rearth will produce another batch for the skyrocket. I currently have a snap on hard plastic type that works fine but is difficult to remove and since I occassionally have to do battery pulls (flash a lot of roms) and sometimes use a seidio extended battery, this is a factor, plus it is not as slim as it could be.
Has anyone ever dropped their phone with a Diztronic case on fro 3+ ft? How did it fair?
I currently have an Otterbox Commuter on my Captivate (which is getting replaced by a Skyrocket) and it has kept my phone from damage, but it adds more size than I like. The TPU cases don't look like they would protect a phone from more than scratches and small drops.

I have dropped my SR from roughly 4ft on a couple of occasions with a diztronic case (and SGP protector). One time it landed flat on the screen and the other time it landed on the top left corner and bounced a bit. The case, however, did its job (as did the screen protector for that matter) wonderfully and not a mark on the phone from dropping.
However, I can say that the diztronic gets dust inside it very easily and it has started to scuff the back and sides of the phone where it rubs. Not that serious to some but it is happening more and more as the case stretches out so if dust scuffs drive you nuts, beware.
I got my SR off Cl and it came with an Otterbox Defender. Solid case if you abuse your phone. I didn't like the size though. I've used the TPU cases with other phones and they are good, I've also used Casemate Barelythere...another solid slim option too, but they both offer very little actual protection. I wanted some protection without all that bulk so I bought a Seidio Active and love it. It adds substantial protect without excessive bulk.

I got the black one, but to each his own...

I come from the "slim" mentality, formerly I had a case-mate "Barley There" for my Blackberry 9700 Case Mate - Barely There 9700 | case-mate.com and now I have the Seidio Surface.
I am not used to a case protecting the front of a device, as the Active does, but it has saved me from a bind or two. When I had the barely there, my phone's corners got dinged up all the time. However, I find myself taking the device out of the case often because despite the fact that it is very small, it's not as small as the device itself (the case probably adds 4mm).
For the Active I would say:
Slim: 4/5 (4MM > without)
Protection: 4/5 (Minimal shock absorption)
For the Rearth i'm thinking:
Slim: 5/5 (I would say 1 - 2 MM > without)
Protection: 2/5 (corners open, face open)

I dropped my skyrocket from 3ft before with the TPU case. It was onto concrete/ sidwalk/ roadway material. I dropped it twice and there was no damage.
The only bad thing about the TPU cases is that the matte grey one turns yellow after a while...
Also, like another member mentioned, the volume buttons are really hard to press, or they press themselves if you don't cut the plastic out... but if you do cut the plastic out of the area where the volume buttons are, then it's hard to press the volume buttons

Darn, that's the one I got
Does anyone have the Otterbox Defender Series case for the Note 4? If so, how is the fit?
I have the Commuter case and think it's great.. Looked at the Defender and thought it was too big for my pockets.
Sent from my SM-N910V using XDA Free mobile app
I have the defender case and it offer supierior protection.
i don't use the belt clip at all though.
My only complaint is that the phone now feels like a tablet. Any added weight is not an issue for me. The phone is still pretty light, but definitely this case has added some bulk.
Lengthwise from top to bottom - 6.5"
Width wise = 3 5/8"
I nicknamed my phone the brick with this thing on ..... but i don't have to worry about any damage to the phone if I ever dropped it.
If it only had a kickstand.....
I love the Defender. I've basically tried almost all the cases for the note 4 and I always go back to this. Between the glass protector problems and the other cases scratching the bezels this case is a godsend. Just my two cents. Gonna order the admiral blue slipcase just to mix it up.
i used it for 2 weeks or so.
But I took it off, and change to another case.
My honest opinion.
The good.
Yes, its very well protected.
Excellent built quality materials.
Everything in the right places.
In and out of pocket just minimal drag.
Dropped more then 4 times over the shoulder, its like a boss. and no problems.
The bad.
Built in SP is nice.. But there is tiny air pocket seems like. it does not stick on the amoled. .... I took it off right away.
The port covers are also good, But i didnt like how the charging port opens up. i like it opens down. thats just me though.
Size. ITS BIG. But i guest its for the protection right.?
No KICK STAND.
And the final BAD bit which made me change it.
Its too HEAVY.
I hold it for one movie about 2 hrs long, or reading xda threads, pretty much daily stuff, and my wrist felt very tired. and that made me had enough.
Those are just my opinions.
Overall i Still give it 8/10.
It really is a great case. It meant to do what it does. Protection at the best you can fine now.
But, it was doing too much for me though.

Great. Just went from note 2 to note 4. New defender has larger clips holding plastic sections together so it is easier to remove. The screen protector also seems to fit more snugly, so less gets under it. Outer rubber is less squishy so it should hold up better. Feels better in the hand and looks nicer. Only 2 negatives so far. cut out for stylus is smaller so if you have sausage fingers it's tough, and the plastic on the front limits viewing angle on notification lights a little bit.
Still best brand case I've ever had. Seidio, the only competition, still has no heavy duty note 4 case out and otterbox's holsters hold up better.

Very bulky. Screen protector is absolutely awful. Protection is great though.
I was worried that the hard plastic interior shell could scratch the shiny edges or painted sides of the Note 4.
I purchased the commuter which has the soft silicone liner that covers the actual phone and the hard plastic on the outside.
Per the reviewer on the Otterbox thread the Defender does have a kickstand and there are pictures of it in the landscape mode using the beltclip as a kickstand.
How dumb is Otterbox for not only not mentioning it on their website but obviously not in the material that comes with the Defender either. Two people on this thread that own Defenders and don't know they have kickstands.
Wonder how many people buy something else because they want a kickstand? I passed on buying the Defender myself because I didn't know it had a kickstand.
I will only buy a phone if there is an otterbox defender case for it. Lucky for me i found one the day before the phone came out :good: The screen protector is not the best as it does not touch the screen 100% and more often than not i have to press a bit harder to make the connection. Rubber is stiffer (which is a good thing) and its thinner than what i had on the note 2. I have "sausage" fingers and have no issues taking out the pen. The belt clip seems a bit flimsy compared to the note 2 defender. Another thing i noticed is that the holster does not completely cover the front of the phone. There is about 1/2cm on either side that is not covered. I've noticed the screen gets dusty really fast..
Will tempered glass protectors work well with defender case if plastic screen protector is removed??

I believe that they would if only we could find a tempered glass protector that would work on the Note 4.

The case fits good!
I have a Note 2 in an Otterbox Defender case and there is only one thing that absolutely bugs the hell out of me. I'm surprised no one has mentioned it because the Otterbox web site has it mentioned several times in the reviews. The same is true for the Note 4's Defender case which is the same as the Note 2. They fixed it in the Note 3 case and why they went back to the Note 2 style case for the Note 4 is beyond me. What is it?
The screen protector has a hole in it which is for the physical Home button. A lot of tiny lint will get there over the course of a week and it shows up pretty badly. I have to disassemble the case weekly and clean it out. It's such a big bother having to deal with this every week.

I believe they left it open for the fingerprint scanner.
I picked up the Defender Case a couple of weeks ago. From a protection standpoint, I think ty3 case is superior. I have zero worries if I ever drop my phone. The belt holster doubles as a kickstand which is a plus. I don't think the vase makes my phone feel heavy in an unbearable way. But the case adds some bulk, but then again you are buying a case to protect the ENTIRE phone. Ports are covered from the elements. Power button and volume rocker very functional. You have to get used to using the fingerprint scanner with this case though. Takes a couple of tries for me but I'm getting used to it. FYI, I agree that you should put a tempered glass screen protector on the phone as the built in screen protector is a film protector. Problem is I can't find a tempered glass screen protector that covers the screen edge to edge. They all seem too small for the phone. Time will tell of there will be one that truly covers the screen. I digress.... If your looking for a case that offers maximum protection, go with the Otterbox. I've been using Otterbox since I had a blackberry in 03.

Will tempered glass protectors work well with defender case if plastic screen protector is removed??

Yes, I briefly used the TechArmor tempered glass screen protector with the Defender, but couldn't stand the Halo , so I removed it.
@op The Defender line is amazing! It is bulky, sure, but I can handle some bulk to protect my ~$700 investment. I NEVER put my phone in my pocket so a belt clip is an absolute necessity.
In the interest of full disclosure, I have since replaced my Defender with the white version of SUPCASE Unicorn Beetle Pro, because it adds less to the width of the phone, allowing me to fit it in the car dock I ordered from Samsung. It is similar to the Defender in that a belt clip and built in screen protector are both included, but it feels smaller without sacrificing protection. Obviously, I removed the built in screen protector to install my preferred Skinomi TechSkin.
I've now tried 3 cases purchased from Amazon, all good in their own way.
Terrapin TPU gel case £5.25. http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B014H39MWM?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00
(I got the smoke black, which doesn't seem to be there anymore).
Good fit, cutouts work although if I was being picky I'd say they maybe are a tiny bit off center. The volume and camera keys are covered with buttons on the case that work but could be easier to use. The power button feels a bit deep in the shell, due to the 2mm or so thickness of gel. Seems to offer very good protection, best of the 3. Case comes slightly above the screen, so protecting it if you lay it face down. Adds moderate bulk to the phone.
Roxfit Titanium shell £10.09. http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B015EFMB3O?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00
Bit misnamed, it's plastic with what looks like a metal insert in the back. Very good fit (in fact difficult to get the phone back out). It exposes a lot more more of the sides of the phone (all of the top, bottom, and the buttons area on the right) than the Terrapin, but still gives very good protection and makes use of the buttons easier. Corners are well protected and the case comes up over the screen, protecting it if you lay it face down. It feels pretty sturdy overall. It looks premium from the back with the gold insert, although the plastic around it maybe less so. Thinner round the sides than the Terrapin but bulkier at the back.
Easydigital hard back £2! http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B014UYKXD0?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00
The cheapest of the 3, and although you can tell it's actually pretty good. Very light and thin, adds the least bulk to the phone. It's the hard plastic type of case as opposed to the gel Terrapin. It's completely clear and because it's so thin, it actually looks better on the phone than the others (in my opinion) as the phone basically looks as it normally does. The top and bottom are exposed as on the Roxfit, there are cutouts for the buttons on the right, as the case is so thin this doesn't affect their use. One point to note - if you use the cord attachment hole on the left of the phone, you can't use this case as it doesn't have a cutout for it. It offers the least protection, the corners are just covered and it only just comes above the screen. At the moment I have a plastic protector, but when the tempered glass one turns up this will probably be proud of the case. The fit is about 99% - the phone moves a tiny fraction within the case, which I'm sure could be solved with a tiny sliver of rubber in there - although to be honest I'm being very picky and it's not really a problem to live with it.
Note - none of the cases have a cutout for the sim/micro sd cover, not an issue for me.
I'm currently using the easydigital, I'll see how it works when the glass screen cover turns up.
Great info!
Could you put a picture of the phone with the last case?
I was deciding between "Orzly FlexiSlim Smoked Black" and "Orzly Bumper Case Clear" (My Z5C will be Black).
Now found my favourite - Orzly FlexSlim Case. £6.99.
It gives pretty reasonable protection but adds minimal bulk. It's a gel type case, cutouts are spot on and don't get in the way of any of the buttons. It won't give as much protection as the Roxfot or terrapin above, but enough for me. I got the white, which looks good on the black phone. I've now got a tempered glass screen protector, this case is probably a fraction of a mm above it so still protects it face down.
I can't see changing away from this now, it's better than any case I found for the Z3C (had the Devilcase, which gave good protection but was a bit bulky and very expensive).
I buy and use this

Definitely improved. It's not as rubbery/sticky as some, it's a sort of matt plastic/rubber finish, but no issues with grip.

I'm trying to decide what color (smokey black / smokey white) would look better on a black z5c. Opinions?
Edit:
Sorry, I just read your previous comment about your color of choice. Could you possibly share some pictures of your phone with the case on?
I have the smoky black. But I still prefer a 100% clear cover.
Today I started using the phone naked. I've been 3 weeks with the flexislim.

Haha well that depends on what're you looking for.
I bought this case to protect the phone from scratches during the 30 days for Amazon returns.
The case is really slim so it won't protect the phone against drops. But it adds some distance to the screen edge (more thickness to the phone) so it could separate your screen from the floor in a potential drop.
I like more the other Orzly solution. The crystal clear bumper. But it's a bit bigger than the flexislim

Thanks man!
Yeah I know that it won't protect against drops because of how slim it is.
That is actually why I'm interested in this case, cause I don't want any bulk. I'm just looking for better grip I guess to prevent drops.
Mmm the grip isn't great.
The typical (and tick) generic 100% TPU cases have a much better grip. This TPU case it's like smooth.

How is the grip in the Terrapin tpu case?
I'm looking at the crystal clear terrapin tpu.
The volume buttons are covered right? (I don't like that).
S-Line
I am also looking for the ideal case with 2 main criteria: slim and grippy.
I usually go for genuine S-Line cases by Cimo USA but unfortunately they don't make cases for Sony devices.
I got a copy on Amazon. I can't post the link, not enough posts.
If you really want to see the exact one, search "Sony Xperia Z5 Compact - S-Style noir - Cover PhoneNatic" on Amazon.fr or .de.
I've seen several similar designs, but slightly different: different camera hole shape, fully mat back...
I will try to shrink it with the boiling water method.
If you know a good slim and grippy case, please share .
I've gotten a handful of cases coming in the mail, mind if I add them in here once I receive them?

Hi ewans,
Sorry to resurrect an old thread - but I have just ordered my Z5C. I was going to get the terrapin or Casemate Barely There - but would like to hear your view on why the Orzly is better than terrapin.
Thanks!
i got this, and it's great

A review of Note 4 cases may look a little outdated, but a device like that is and I believe will stay in the first line (well, maybe the second) for a little longer.
I just received my last case and I decided to put them all together. I usually take one case of each type to meet any scenario. Right now I own nearly all types, except a leather “dress” one and and maybe a "heavy duty".
Rock DRV case (~€16)
This one came bundled with my phone and at first I did not like it. But after a few days and until now, it became my first choice because it combines protection, style, quality with some nice features.
Its rubber is of great quality, after a year of intense use there are no marks or scratches on it. The inner side that attaches to the back of the device has a soft layer that protects the phone. All the openings are perfectly alligned and it’s very easy to put in and pull out the phone because, as you can see there is no rim in a big proportion of the lip of the case. All buttons are left uncovered and therefore easily accessible.
Its trademark is, of course its screen cover. It’s made of rubber too, but it’s semitransparent, so it’s easy to take a glance to the screen, without opening the cover. Great idea, greatly implemented.
The photo does not do justice to the functionality of the feature, it's much easier to see the screen with the cover on in a room with normal lighting.
DRV is a thick case and that shows on the camera protection bump, which is more than enough. That means that it will probably offer good protection in case of a strong impact. Luckily I have yet to drop the phone. All in all, it’s a great case that has it all. It can be a little bulky sometimes, but if somebody is used to those cases, this one is one of the best all-around with very high value for money ratio.
Nillkin frosted shield (~€6)
I’ve been buying one of those for every phone I’ve owned in the last 3 years. I also buy them for the phones of my close ones. Nillkin has made a name for themselves and they deserve it, as they offer great products at very affordable prices.
Its material is hard plastic and it’s a pain to put in/take out without hurting the phone. It does not seem to offer a great protection against strong impacts. Some people have reported that it’s very easily breakable in its corner. All those may be true, but this case has a unique feature that makes it a must have for me, its textured back. It has a very nice feel that keeps me wanting rubbing and playing with it.
Moreover, it’s thick enough to provide a fair amount of protection for the camera lens. All buttons are uncovered.
It’s cheap and of good quality. Go buy one, just to feel its texture. The only material that is more pleasant for me to touch is Oneplus One’s sandstone back, period.
Spigen Hybrid Ultra clear (~€17)
A well known company and a well known case. Its rubber is of great quality, quite thick and it gets even thicker in the corners, which is reassuring in case of a fall.
All cutouts are perfectly placed and it gives a feel of quality. Of course its thickness makes the phone bulkier, but on the other side it offers a very good grip.
It offers the best camera lens protection among all my cases. Not only because it’ thick, but because each corner is raised an additional 5mm, resulting in great sitting on a flat, even on a little bumpy, surface. The buttons are all covered and, surprisingly, they have a nice feel when pressed, despite the thick material.
No more to say, except a complaint. After a year of moderate use, it has lost its clearness and it has become a little yellowish. Strange for a product of such a high profile.
It’s not the best looking case and it does not offer too much, but it’s the only one I feel comfortable to throw from a small height with the phone in it. It’s probably the best compromise between bulk and real protection.
IMAK transparent case (~€6)
I bought one of these for my wife’s Lumia 925 about a year ago and I liked it, so recently I bought one for myself. It’s a simple back cover, but there are two features that earned my attention; First, the plastic is absolutely clear and it stays like that more for more than a year later. Second, its plastic is not very hard and it’s very easy to put on/take out, but not too flimsy either. It’s so thin, that the camera lens stays virtually unprotected.
Unfortunately, the material is a little slippery. I do not consider it that much of a protection, and it gets scratched very easily, but it does have its place among my cases. It’s perfect for a day in the office, where the possibility of a scratch is a little smaller. It can prevent all those little, small scratches that happen each day without even noticing and it keeps the contour and the looks of the device almost untouched.
Yes, the case is on!
Nillkin Nature case (~€6)
My last purchase. Nillkin has grown to a company I like, so I bought it just out of curiosity, to see what it is, it’s very cheap anyway.
It’s a full case, not just a back cover. It’s o.6 mm thick and it’s made of a very clear, soft plastic. The thing that makes it stand out of all those cheap, no-name similar cases is the attention to details. The are two embedded protective caps, one for the USB port and one for the 3.5mm jack.
All buttons are covered. The case is almost unnoticeable and leaves the camera lens rather unprotected, but it’s the thinnest full case you can buy and it’s not really slippery. Unfortunately, there is a great disadvantage for me. I use a full face tempered glass that covers the entire front face of the device. The case makes contact with the glass in a specific spot and raises the glass just enough to make typing of the “a” and the “q” just a little difficult. Other than that, it’s one incredible case that offers a great compromise between style, protection and price. It’s not “heavy duty” either, but it actually makes the phone look even nicer and gives a little protection against every day scratches.
I hope that was a little useful for any of you considering to buy a case. Thanks!
I like that last one (edit: Nillkin Nature Case). I used to use the official Samsung case (not the wallet version) and it wasn't bad, but it made the phone a bit wider and taller. I eventually just started using the phone naked and I love the way it feels and tge phone is nicer looking too. Problem is... well, it isn't protected from drops anymore. I also paint sometimes, and have gotten paint on my phone a few times from it rubbing off of my hands. Luckily, I use latex paint, so I just scrape it off with my finger nail, but still, having a case would catch any paint.
Question:
Will the Nature Case fit an ATT Note 4 N910A?

Not sure, maybe you could ask the potential seller. Odds are that it fits, although I've heard about cases not fitting specific Note 4 models.

One of the 4 big US carrier models has the microphone in a different place, but I'm pretty sure the ATT model follows the international design. I'll need to check though.

Thanks for putting that post together! I like that Nilkin Nature case also... it looks very similar to my current "go to" case, a transparent Ringke Fusion (which also has attached port covers; I really wish more cases had this!) From your pics and the cases description, it seems like the Ringke might be slightly more protective, but it's not quite as sleek and has a bit of a boxier shape.
In your opinion, is the lip that protrudes from the sides on the front that protect the screen if face-down "high enough"? I did see what you wrote about the screen protector issue so it might be hard to say, but if the phone was dropped face-down from, say, knee height, would the center of the screen be protected from making contact?
I'm tempted to pick one up... if I end up not using it I could always cut off the port protectors and attach them to a different case

You're correct, I haven't mentioned anything about "face down protection". The reason for my omission is that I never do it, but now that I think of it, maybe I should, my tempered glass covers the entire face of my phone.
Anyway, the only case that I own and have a "lip" is the Spigen. All the others reach on the same level with my tempered glass. I do not consider Nillkin nature and, especially, Imak to offer any kind of protection against a very strong impact or a fall, they are too thin. On the other hand, they offer adequate protection against every day beatdown and alter the looks of the device as little as possible. I guess we can't have it all!
If I had to choose between those two, I'd choose Nillkin. Its material is softer (and perhaps more impact absorbant), it covers all the sides of the device and has the port covers.

That is why I went with the Spigen Tough Armor. I know the Otterbox Defender is the better case, but it makes my Note 4 way too bulky for my taste. While the Spigen Tough Armor does bulk up my Note 4 it's doesn't do it as much as the Otterbox Defender and it still offers good protection for my phone in case I accidentally drop it.

Thanks for the details I did a photo search for the Nilkin Nature, and it really does look like the sides are almost flush with the screen (no lip). I was surprised to see that because I have 6 or 7 cases and all of them do have enough of a lip to keep the screen from making contact when placed face-down. I always use a tempered glass protector also, but I'd prefer not to scratch or crack that, ya know, if I can help it I did recently crack the glass protector that I had on my tablet (a Sammy S2) by dropping it on my wood floor while swapping micro SDs. Definitely preferable to cracking the screen (especially with a free warranty replacement) but there's always some chance that the application of the new one will be jacked up, and no one wants that!
So in light of that discovery about the Nilkin, I'm just going to stick with my Ringke Fusion as my main case, and I'd definitely recommend it to others. I just checked Amazon to make sure it's still available, and it is for just $10. It's really pretty protective for a TPU skin (my phone's definitely survived a drop or... several onto a wood floor) and it has attached port covers!! :good: :good:
While looking at cases I also noticed that there's an updated version of the Verus Iron Shield, which IMO looks slick. I have the original and I like it, but haven't used it in a while just because I've been more into slimmer cases. The update looks really nice, but I could think of more practical ways to spend $20 since I have the older one; I think I'd be all over it if I didn't though. My number one recommendation remains the Ringke Fusion though: slim, protective, cheap, translucent, and I forget if I mentioned this already, but it does, in fact, have port covers(!!)

I just checked Amazon to make sure it's still available, and it is for just $10. It's really pretty protective for a TPU skin (my phone's definitely survived a drop or... several onto a wood floor) and it has attached port covers!! :good: :good:

The Ringke seems to be in the same tier as the Spigen I own, but it looks a little better due to the ports. Nillkin Nature is something different, it aims to offer casual protection only and keep the bulk to the bare minimum.
Which one is commended to buy?Do you buy all of these? You are so crazy~~

It's not an easy question to answer, because each one serves a different purpose. The most protective is the Rock, then the Spigen. Nillkin nature is the thinnest , IMAK is a transparent back cover and Nillkin frosted shield the same.
I would really like to get the Dr. V case made by Rock. I have seen some youtube videos about it, and it looks like the near perfect case for my use.
Has anyone been able to find a place that sells it still?
I found a ali express page, but it is sold out.

I've gone through all of the threads on screen protectors for the mix and I have observed that the majority aren't happy with the screen protectors they've got. I've ordered almost every type of tempered glass protector available for this device but I'm waiting for them to arrive.
For those who already have some screen protector installed on your mix, could you please upload photos of the device with the screen protector installed.
This is so that it can help other buyers to narrow down to the better screen protectors available. If you are satisfied with the screen protector you have bought, it would also help if you post a link to where you've bought it. I would have done this myself if I had received all the protectors I ordered. Unfortunately I haven't received anything yet.
Some reports suggest that Xiaomi may have used two different suppliers for the digitizer, one of them being prone to getting scratches easily. Even if this was not the case, I have seen many badly scratched Gorilla glass displays so I don't want to take the chance.
Hoping that people who already have some form of screen protection can help other buyers!
I have also bought all the decent cases available on ebay including the Love Mei Performance case and will post a review as soon as I receive them.
UPDATE: The Love Mei Powerful Case. This is the most rugged, shock-proof, snow-proof, dust-proof, splash-proof, everything under the sun-proof (except submersion in water) case available for the Mix.
As you can see from the photo comparison with another regular shock-proof case, this one is a beast. It lives up to its name. Came in a phone-box style premium box and certainly lives up to its price-tag. The case is made up of a hard aluminium shell with rubber layers for shock absorption. It also has a built-in tempered glass protector, meaning you wont need another screen protector.
The manufacturer also claims that the case offers drop-protection from up to 1.8m (5.9 feet).
I wouldn't recommend this case for daily use, mainly due to the sheer size of the case and not because it completely changes the look of the Mix. But for those of you who require extreme protection, if you have a baby at home who thinks the Mix is a Frisbee or if your dog likes playing "catch" and you only have your phone in hand, this is your answer. Buy this case!!
As you can see, I'm not using this case and may use this only if I'm going on a holiday or any outdoor activity which demands more protection for the phone. Hence, I don't regret buying it.

And now, my favourite case among all the cases I have for the Mix. The 360 Shock proof Rubber case. (This case is sold under many names, the most common being 360 Shockproof. Just follow product images. Anyway there isn't any branding printed on the actual case.)
This looks like something which came straight from the phone manufacturer. Slim and feels premium. Doesn't look or feel cheap and I believe the rubber material offers decent protection from bumps. I don't know whether it can withstand drops though.
The case doesn't feel cheap like the Red Plastic rubber shock proof case I've posted earlier (See 2nd post). It also has a smaller lip above the screen compared to the Plastic case but has raised corners. Maybe the plastic case offers more protection due to the better lip surrounding the screen and also because it is rubber+plastic combo, meaning there are two materials to absorb shock compared to just rubber with this one. But the reason why this is my favourite case is because it offers a balance between looks and protection.
Hope this post has helped you decide which case to get for the Mix. All cases showcased here are available on ebay & Amazon.
Cheers!
I've received the full coverage screen protector and a case today and as promised I'm uploading photos here so that it may help you decide.
I haven't experienced any issues with touch functionality using this protector like some like some users have mentioned. But as the glass hovers over the screen due to the adhesive only around the frame, applying this screen protector makes it look as if the display has a lower contrast ratio. This is due to the gap between the actual display glass and the tempered glass protector. You lose the experience of a fully laminated display. This isn't very noticeable in a well lit room but noticeable whenever you view images or videos with dark scenes. The blacks look greyish.
Also this is a fingerprint magnet and the glass tends to attract some dust. I've tried re-applying the protector over three times and a speck of dust manages to get in under the glass every time. This isn't the first time I'm applying screen protectors and its definitely something to do with the coating on the glass which attracts dust, maybe due to static.
The case feels slightly cheap (maybe because it was cheap ) but looks like it can protect the phone well. The only gripe I have is that there is no cushioning on the back, like cases from Spigen. The rubber like material you see is more like a bumper attached to a plastic shell. The back of the phone touches the plastic shell as you see in the images. Comparable to those hard plastic cases you get. Don't know whether that helps in terms of protection but the case has a good lip around the screen as you can see.
For those wondering, I bought the red color because the other colors for this case looked too bland. The case is available in Gold, light blue, Grey and silver. I wish there was black but there isn't.
I have more cases coming in and will update this when I receive it. Till then I hope those willing to help can also upload photos of their cases and screen protectors.
Cheers!
Here's a couple pix of the PELOSI TPU/Sandstone finish case:
https://www.casefanatic.com/xiaomi/case-xiaomi-mi-mix-pelosi-quicksand-pattern-slim-matte-tpu-cover/
The cutouts for the mics/3.5mm jack/speaker grill/USB Port are precise & allow enough room for oversized headphone/USB plugs.
The volume rocker & power button are covered & are easy to identify by feel.
As for protection,it'll keep the backside free of scratches/etc,but,as for protection from drops/etc... YMMV,as this is a low profile case, adding minimal width & thickness to the overall dimensions.
It works for me,the main reason I even bother with a case for this phone is the slippery grip.
Found some new bumper case.

Interesting bumper, but would this protect the device? I'd imagine it would just ripple the impact into the ceramic and it would probably still shatter, unless there's a good amount of padding on the inside of the frame.
I prefer the minimal amount of case / bumper on a phone. If it wasn't as slippery ide go naked, but the TPU gives you more hand confidence. Though that amorkingcase looks pretty sweet, if it was not as "sharp and shaped" looking

Where did you get this shipped to/ how long did it take? I ask because it's about half off on ebay , but will probably take a long time to get to me in the states.

I just looked up the shipping history on my Pelosi case:
November 25 to December 12,but, I'm guessing yours won't take as long to deliver,as mine was in transit during the peak holiday season....

Its not mentioned on the box either. It adds approx. 10mm to all sides. Its a huge case as you can see from the pictures.
I went with the Pelosi and I LOVE it!

Thanks! That pretty much kills pocketability for me. Shame, but I'm not surprised.

It doesn't affect pocketability that much actually. It just feels like a big phone. The overall size would be similar or slightly wider than the Xperia Z Ultra. But it would still look weird with formal\office wear though if that matters.
The main issue is with daily use. You wouldn't be able to use the phone with one hand anymore.
This case is best for someone who needs serious drop\splash resistance.
There is a similar case which is smaller. Its the imatch case which looks cool in my opinion but the case is hard to find on ebay. You can get it on aliexpress or amazon though.
I liked the Gold and Black variant of this case but I doubt whether it would cause issues when using a wireless charger. Hence, I haven't bought this yet.
iMatch Metal Silicone Shockproof case
If offers a similar level of protection as the Love Mei case but it is smaller. It even has a metal kickstand.
I have to agree that the 360 Shock proof Rubber case listed by the OP is the best case so far. It feels nice and offers a decent drop protection without too much bulk. It looks like it was meant to come with the phone. The matte color looks stealthy. The protection covers all angle of the phone and even a 1 mm lip to protect screen. I have dropped it 3-4 feet onto hardwood floor and sustained no damage. The extra bumps at the corner really provides a nice cushion. I highly recommend it.
