Touchscreen not working after CyanogenMod 11 flash. SM-P900 - Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone,
I have an SM-P900 rooted via the latest Chainfire Auto-Root. After that I installed the custom recovery TWRP 2.8.0.0 via Odin.
Through this custom recovery I installed the cm-11-20141008-UNOFFICIAL-SNAPSHOT-M11-v1awifixx.zip
Before I flashed CM I wiped everything except the internal and external storage. Then I installed the latest gapps and after that the thouchscreen stopped working. The S-Pen is working but I cant use it with my fingers anymore.
Greetings,
Andre

I flashed the latest stock rom (PHN-P900XXUANI1-20141010224130) with Odin, the touchscreen (without SPen) still doesn't work.
Has anybody an idea how I could get it back working?

Flashed an older Stock ROM for my region (DBT, P900XXUANAE) and updated with Kies to P900XXUANC4.
Then I did a factory reset.. still no touchscreen. But the SPen is working fine.

That's very strange - does the touchscreen work in TWRP?

No, its the same in TWRP.. only the S-Pen is working.
Another thing: I noticed that after I flashed a Stock ROM with Odin the configuration and data was not deleted. Is that normal? I can remember when I flashed my SGS2 with Odin it was set to factory defaults everytime. Is that because it was a three-part-firmware with PIT file?

flashing stock firmware with odin doesn't delete user data.
i have two versions:
1. it's hardware issue
2. flash twrp. wipe everything including internal data, then flash with odin your origianl stock firmware for your region. if it doesn't help, see above.
edit: i read your posts again. it looks like a hardware issue...

I agree, that's why I asked if it worked in TWRP - I feel it may be a hardware issue, coincidental timing?

Volans21, where are you find three-part-firmware with PIT file?
maybe touchscreen stopped working after flashing pit file? but it only involves on partition scheme.. it's strange
but if touchscreen doesnt work in recovery, i think it's something with hw
stupid question: are you sure you have p900? may be something p901 or another not general device? because if i understand, you lost touchscreen after flashing custom recovery

would KIES allow him to update to P900XXUANC4 if he was on a p901, or would it not know the difference.?

No, I didn't find a three-part-firmware for my SM-P900.. maybe you missunderstood me: Years ago I flashed my Samsung Galaxy S2 (SGS2) with such a firmware.. I always thought, that the PIT file repartitioned my SGS2 and so the ROM was set to factory defaults. And thats why I was asking for a three-part-firmware with PIT file
I'm 100% sure that I have a SM-P900 (No LTE/4G, only Wifi). And thats what I did before the touchscreen stopped working:
A firmware update with Kies 3 to P900XXUANI1
Rooting with CF-AutoRoot (CF-Auto-Root-v1awifi-v1awifixx-smp900.zip)
Flashed TWRP 2.8.0.0 with Odin 3.07
Wiped everything with TWRP except internal/external SDCard
Flashed CM11 with TWRP (cm-11-20141008-UNOFFICIAL-SNAPSHOT-M11-v1awifixx.zip) and started CM11 successfully
Flashed gapps for CM11 (gapps-kk-20140606-signed.zip)
Decided that I want to have a gapps version without all those bloatware, so I did:
Wiped everything with TWRP except internal/external SDCard
Flashed CM11 with TWRP (cm-11-20141008-UNOFFICIAL-SNAPSHOT-M11-v1awifixx.zip)
Flashed gapps (pa_gapps-modular-pico-4.4.4-20141011-signed.zip) and started CM11 successfully
Worked some minutes with the tablet, rebooted the tablet and after that..
..the touchscreen stopped working.
@notspike
Kies knows the difference.. it even knows for which region the installed firmware is and installs the corresponding update.

I've been experimenting with Cyanogen on my sm-p900 for about a week & 1/2 flashing back & forth with stock roms as well. Learning from the thread that Cyanogen is very different from the other roms, I wiped EVERYTHING except external sdcard when flashing back & forth & have not had any issues. Have you disabled Kies before trying to install as it will cause issues when flashing custom roms as well. Try disabling kies & doing a wipe of everything except external sdcard & then reflash the rom. I'm just a newbie trying to help so I hope this helps.
I also noticed that you didn't mention doing a backup in TWRP before doing anything. It would definitely serve you well to do so in the future as you will always be able to go back to what was working.

What do you mean with "disable Kies"? I know Kies as the software for managing a Samsung device with a PC.. but I didn't know that I could disable it on the phone/tablet.
Of course I did a backup with TWRP, I just didn't list i because I thought doing a backup can not cause the touchscreen to not work. Maybe I should have said that I tried to fix the touchscreen by restoring the TWRP backup.. but it didn't help. :/

That really is sounding more and more like a hardware issue the more I look at the steps you've tried. If even wiping all data/cache/dalvik and flashing from odin stock firmware isn't fixing it it could be. The fact in twrp it's acting that way too sort of supports this.

Yes, I think so, too.

To close this case: I sent the device back to the distributor, it was a HW issue and fixed.. even after flashing a custom ROM.
Now I flashed CM11 again.. 2 days ago. Touchscreen is still working!

Touch Screen Calibration Messed Up After Flashing ROM on Wrong Firmware

I'll try to remember the steps of what happened as best I can.
T989 All Stock Running Gingerbread (Not sure what Firmware)
1)Installed CWM via ODIN
2)nstalled SuperUser via CWM
3)Installed latest AOKP from here http://aokp.co/devices/hercules
Booted up just fine but two problems
1: No Service
2: Touch screen calibration was WAY OFF
BYAM DURP OOPS
Realized that I needed to get the latest Firmware before flashing the latest AOKP!
4)Full Wipe(I think?)
5)Install latest Firmware (T989UVMC6, right?) (Also did a factory reset/wipe)
Phone boots into Stock with latest firmware, however the touch screen is still calibrated way off!
Do steps 1-3 above again.
Touch screen calibration is still way off!
My only guess on the reason/fix for this is that maybe this is still some lingering problem of flashing the ROM on the outdated firmware, so I need to perform some sort of deeper wipe than just a Full Wipe via ClockWorkMod in order to get rid of any lingering problems. And then flash the latest firmware, and do steps 1-3 above.
Any ideas or suggestions?
Any other information needed?
Thanks in advance!

I've done wipes like this
Via CWM I do the Factory Reset/Full wipe, then cache and dalvik cache.
Is there a way to more deeply wipe?
I saw in some other places that you can mount some locations and also wipe those too, I assume maybe doing that will result in a "fuller" wipe and also wipe the firmware too?
Care to explain exactly how I should be wiping?
Also after doing the wipe, do I just flash latest firmware, install CWM/root, and then a ROM?
Thanks

So without a doubt I can wipe/format everything except SD Card and just flash a firmware via ODIN and be just fine?
Just double checking because it sounds scary to wipe/format so many things!

Formatted data, system, cache, and emmc.
Did Factory Wipe/Reset, Wiped cache and Dalvik cache.
Used ODIN to flash T989UVMC6, and still the touch screen is not calibrated properly.
However (I've seen other people report that problem but haven't seen a fix) when the phone is plugged in, it works just fine, but whenever it is unplugged the touch screen very unusable due to being calibrated so wrong. :/ After wiping and formatting everything and flashing a stock Firmware I'm all out of hope now!

My Oukitel's k4000 Touch Screen Calibration Messed Up After Flashing ROM on Wrong ROM
Hello,
Please help me. I tried to see if a ROM for 'Oukitel k4000 pro' could fit 'Oukitel k4000'.
Since it didn't work out, I flashed back to the original ROM of 'Oukitel k4000', but since then, my screen behaves wrongly to touches.
Could anyone faced and managed to beat this issue?
I saw several different posts on the net, but none of them actually helped me.
One more thing:
Please try to explain, as if you explaining a child, since my android experience is not that vast to follow all the shortcuts and proffecional terms.
Thank you,
Michael

[Q] Device does not boot

Hello,
Just had issue with my Samsung galaxy S3.
A lot of sudden death and device freezes.
I installed the "[ROM][364MB][NB7]Revolutionary S5 V2 - Like your new Galaxy S5? [23RD MAR][FLYING][AVAILABLE]"
rom and since then i cannot boot my device.
After the installation was finished and just click the reboot option and its stucked on the boot screen(Samsung Galaxy s3 image)
Is it what's called a brick?
Is there any way to fix that issue?
I know i can get into recovery.
I'm having trouble with the sd card, I guess it's related cause it was working well before having issue with the device.
Any suggestion from you guys?

Sure. You don't need adb for installing a rom!
Perform a wipe
copy CUSTOMROM.zip* to your sdcard
install it via recovery
be happy again
*you can choose any custom rom compatible to your device.
The sd card is curropted for some reason.
I try the ADB but get the error attached.
Any reason what's wrong?
Or how can I fix this issue?

Don't use adb sideload pls. Just go to recovery --> format sd-card --> mount sd to computer --> copy rom.zip to sdcard manually. You dont need adb sideload
I format the external_sd
I mount the external_sd but can get the drive in my local machine.
do you i need to do something in addition to get the drive in my pc?
What Recovery Version do you use actually?
]Do You have the SIII gt-i9300?
If you have unbranded SIII GT-i9300 --> This is the best recovery avaiable PhilZ advanced cwm 6.19.3 . You can flash it using Odin 3.07
Latest usb drivers --> Samsung USB drivers
Your solution is good.
I installed this recovery and managed to mount my sd card and then install a different rom.
Thing I still have the sudden death issue.
I understood that any rom with version of 4.1.2 and above has that relevant fixes but its just didn't solve my issue.
Any suggestion about that?

Do you have custom recovery ? if you have so then do a complete wipe (cache, factory data, dalvik) and try, if the device doesnt boot then flash your backup or stock rom in recovery
I installed a custom ROM based on stock and it reduced the freezes and sudden death big time but didn't solve it.
since the installation one day ago i had a couple of sudden deaths.
I did all wipes the recovery have to offer but I still see picture and old data I had.
No way to format the entire phone and then install a ROM from recovery?
Any other suggestion how to fix?

You can format everything using PhilZ recovery:
-->Mounts&Storage
Format /system /cache /data /storage/sdcard0 /storage/sdcard1
Then copy the rom to your sdcard and install it again. If that does not work you will have to flash the stock firmware once using odin before you can use a custom rom again.
Keep in mind that a custom kernel can cause system instability and errors.

I think you havent cleared data/factory reset your phone from cwm or twrp or else..
u need to do that + clear dalvik cache before flashing the zip..
But about the ROM u mentioned, is it really made for Samsung S3 ? :/

Samsung Galaxy S2 Telus T989D stuck on Koodo logo after rooting

Hi There,
So, I have a Samsung Galax S2 Telus SGH-T989D phone and I decided to root it using the 4.4 KitKat and it went well and everything was great.
However, afterwards to resolve some other issues I was having I decided to make the mistake of loading the gapps which was for another
package into my phone and that messed everything up!
So, I have been struggling with the phone and first it wouldn't let me install another ROM from recovery and kept on giving me error 7 and 6
But, I fixed that and now I can install any ROM from the recovery or Odin (download mode) without any errors.
However:
The phone vibrates , brings up the galaxy logo and then the Koodo logo appears and a bar fills up quickly under it but it never goes away!!!
Phone freezes there and that's that!! Even after taking out the battery I noticed the logo was still stuck on the screen where as normally
it goes blank!!
So, at this point I am not sure what else to do! This is annoying and I'm tired of experimenting. I went through some XDA foroums here and
tried the Super Vipe (taking out the battery has been tried, factory reset and wiping the cache all have been tried)
So, please please please help me out here. I used to have a MyTouch4G which I rooted with CyanogenMod back in the day and it's the most
stable thing ever and all I wanted to do was to perform the same thing on my Galaxy S2 and boom not this time!!!
Awaiting your response and thanks in advance

Did you perform a FULL wipe? Custom recovery -> format ALL partitions except EFS?
I have tried the Super Vipe off the SD card through the recovery mode and also from recovery I've tried the wipe cache,
factory reset and wipe cache partitions.
I am not sure about "format ALL partitions except EFS" nor am I aware of the procedure.
How would I perform that?
Have you installed a working custom recovery?

Yes I'm able to successfully install recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.7-hercules or CWM_Root_Superuser_3.1.3_Busybox_1.20.2
from the recovery without any errors (same if rooted through Odin)
If there's a specific ROM you are thinking about please let me know and I will be more than glad to give it a shot.
You really should use a newer recovery version. But for now go to mounts and storage and format all partitions except EFS. Then try flashing stock firmware via Odin
Here you can get the latest recovery for your device --> TWRP for hercules

Under mounts and storage and format all partitions except EFS > Don't even see ESF there to begin with..
Do you have a working link for downloading the stock firmware? I have downloaded few and none of them even let me install them (status 0 error)
Any ideas?
Odin is already being used v3.0.7

I was able to finally bring it up!!
Basically I looked for a stock firmware for T-Mobile and after formatting the phones multiple times I tried this ROM
using ODIN and it got rid of the Koodo logo and replaced it with a T-Mobile logo and then it BOOM loaded to start screen finally!!
I was about to hammer the phone. So, trust me I was very happy to see it work.
Thank you for your quick and helpful response :good:
Cheers :victory:

[q] help with note 4 root stuck with faulty firmware and offset touch

My Note 4 was running 4.4.4 kitkat and I just decided it was time to update the firmware to Lollipop 5.0.1. I made backups of all my stuff and downloaded the lollipop firmware from Sammobile.com. I put my phone into recovery and used odin 3.0.9 to install it. After it booted up it was working fine for a few minutes. Then i installed the CWM but i accidentally installed the wrong one. I have the note 4 SM-N910P but i installed the CWM for the SM-N15P. And i flashed it using BL instead of AP in odin. After it booted up I started having issues. The touch screen wont respond correctly. When i touch the screen it actually clicks around 1.5 cm diagnolly down to the right and sometimes it doesn't respond at all. After that I tried several options
Re installing the firmware full wipe - didn't work
Reinstalling the wrong CWM the right way on AP and then factory resetting - didn't work
Wiping it from CWM recovery mode- didn't work
Wiping it from settings menu - - didn't work
Wiping it from reg Recovery mode- didn't work
Installing an older version of firmware. (4.4.4 KITKAT)- when i did that it didn't even install, it was still running lollipop. - didn't work
Installing the correct CWM and wiping it from CWM and Stock Recovery - didn't work
So ive tried all this several times in different orders to no luck. I still cant uninstall lollipop or factory/hard reset it. Is there some other program or method i can use to fix my note 4 touch issues and reinstall the firmware for real.
Thanks in advance

Are u sure the problem is in ROM, not hardware issue

Accidentaly wiped /system

thus I don't have OS anymore, so I can't boot into download mode.
I have TWRP, I think the only thing I can do is just get stock .zip ROM. But I can't find it for my G930F, I downloaded some but they are all prepared for odin, not for recovery.
Could please anyone give me a download link for a flashable stock rom?
Or any other ideas?
Thanks
You had TWRP but didn't make a backup?
Technically it doesn't have to be a stock ROM, you could just flash a custom ROM and once you've got system back then you can flash back to stock with Odin.

So I do have LinkeageOS 16 installed now, but every restart, I can't mount /data in TWRP, I have to wipe it over and over. Why is that?
Another thing is that phone doesnt detect my SIM card (on stock recovery it did detect).
iirc that's something to do with encryption, but I've never experienced it so can't be sure.
Can you tried a stock Odin flash since installing Lineage?
Are you using the most recent TWRP?

I flashed newest stock ROM and updated twrp and everything seems to be working now
Weird, I didn't have to reflash LOS.
But yeah, I will write here if the problem still persists later.
