I wanted to wipe my phone entirely and start clean before installing Virtuous Inq but I messed up somehow and now my SD Card won't mount. I had MIUI running on my HTC Sensation.
Here's what I did to my phone today -
1. First I copied my entire SD card to my computer.
2. Next I formated my SD card and deleted everything on my phone.
3. Then I went into Clockwork and Wiped Date/Factory reset.
I was hoping it would bring me to Stock but that didn't happen. It just reset MIUI. Then when I tried to mount my SD it just says I can remove even when I click mount.
Anyone know what I can do?

Bump...can anyone help?
I suspect the problem was in the formatting of your SD card. For the phone to mount it you probably need it formatted as FAT32. Did you format using a computer? Win/Mac/Linux?

This is the same SD card that I got w/ the Sensation. I never had to format or do anything to it.
OK, but you said in your original post that you formatted the SD card (item 2). If you formatted the SD card using a filesystem other than FAT32 (e.g. NTFS or HFS+) then your phone won't be able to mount it - that was what came to mind.
Have you tried to remount it using adb?
CODE: mount -o rw,remount -t /sdcard
Sent from my HTC Pyramid using xda premium

Please see the above thread. I think the trick may be you need to insert the formatted sd card into the phone while its running VI.

Well I formatted the SD card with MIUI I thought that would wipe it clean so I start a new basically. Apparently that wasn't the case.

I don't have a Micro SD Card Reader. Does that mean I have no other options?
Bump. Character Limit.
What ROM recovery are using right now. If you are using 4EXT Recovery it have format tools on the recovery. If CWM wipe the sd card is same as format. Or you can't just mount the card using ROM recovery and format on PC.
I had the same problem with the SD card. Formatting in CWM didn't help.
Resolved it by these steps:
1. Format the new SD card with fat32 on pc.
2. Switch off the phone and remove the battery.
3. Insert the new SD and the battery back.
4. Power on in recovery mode (volume down+power).
5. Find "Partition SD card" and partition it with 64KB (CWM will partition the SD to 4GB). It should do the Mounting.
6. Reboot the phone normally.
7. Go to Settings>Storage. It should be showing 4GB free space on SD.
8. In storage options pick "Unmount SD card" and then pick "Erase SD card" in same menu, Don't remove the card from phone!!! , it shoud bring SD back to original storage.
9. Mount SD back and copy back the data from the original SD.
Hope it'll be heplful.
I had a partition for apps and one for swap memory on my sd card I removed it from my phone formatted it with minitool partition and now my phone wont recognize it, it is still being recognized by the computer and it is flashed in FAT32 format but by phone wont pick it up not on computer or clockwork mod recovery...what should I do ??/:crying::crying:
format your sd card and then try putting in your phone , also sd external partition should be ext2, ext3 or ext4. If this doesnt work try partitioning your sd card from recovery.
Hi all,
I recently, erased all data on my SD card (using the "Erase SD card" option in settings > storage). Once this had completed the total space went back up to 7.4GB but available space went to 0.00B! I've rebooted the phone, unmounted and re-mounted the SD card and still available space is set to 0!
What could I possibly be doing wrong?
Thanks,
Use a card reader and connect the SD Card to your computer, if it doesn't show up, use a partition tool to partition the SD Card, such as MiniTool Partition Wizard.

Thanks for the help. What an absolute ball ache though! Why is the "erase" option included if it's going to cause these issues? Would have been better off deleting each folder manually.
RESOLVED
I actually managed to resolve this by erasing from settings a couple more times :S
My first share! I dont know if its already here in XDA but this is not copied to anyone or anywhere. I discovered it myself.
How to remove sd card partition without using Minitool.
Do it at ur own risks and be sure to have a back up of ur sd card.
Requirements:
Partitioned sd card
Desktop o Laptop
Card reader
1. Insert the cardreader with the partitioned sdcard in it to Pc.
2. Right click my computer and click manage. Click disk management and look for driveletter of your card and right click its partition remove/delete volume. ( unallocated)
3. Go to my computer at format sd card, uncheck quickformat
4.Remove the sd card and insert it to your phone, goto settings and unmount then format. Voila! Partition is deleted and the size is returned to original.
Hi,
My SD card suddenly went unmountable. My phone restarted automatically and hasn't been able to mount the card. It is not recognizable in Windows too. I just see a grayed out drive that has 0MB.
I'm using Apps2SD on my phone and I had to partition my SD card with one Ext4 partition and on FAT32.
The thing is that because the first partition is Ext4, Windows cannot see the second FAT32 partition.
How can I check if my SD card really went dead or is it a matter of corrupted file system?
What program can I use to scan and check Linux partitions on SD card?
