I've got a tf300t. And i notice in settings, there's NO option to move anything to the SD card. I tried link2sd, and it says i have a internal SD. I know that's full already. Any way to move apps to the actual external SD? i am rooted, so root apps will help too. Any help would be appreciated. I have 2.8GB left internal, and 13 GB on external SD. Thanks!

When an app is open, you can long press the app in the recents view and click on App Info. On that page, it should say "Move to SD Card".

Its not in the app you want to move to the SD card - when you switch between apps by pressing the recents button on the bottom bar, you can long press an app, and a small menu will appear below it. Click on App info to get to the page with the ability to move the app.

What firmware version/ROM are you running? I'd imagine the latest versions have that feature, and my installed ROM does as well.

Actually, you can upgrade to KK, Android 4.4.4. For example: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2686235

Yeah its all preference with Android. Im surprised that your JB ROM doesn't have move to SD card built in though. I keep my phone on JB and move to SD card works fine. I remember TI Backup having some option to move apps to the SD card and run it from there. I think its this :http://desk.n2acards.com/customer/portal/articles/961882-how-do-i-move-apps-to-the-sd-card-with-titanium-backup-

Have you tried other methods, like DS Super App2SD?

So, i can set this up to give you guys an option during rom flashing to have a Apps2sd native option during the flashing process. What it will do is while the rom is flashing in CWM, it will ask if you want all apps installed to sd or if you want them installed to internal memory. Would you guys want this included?

Isn't it quite dangerous installing apps to SD card by default? There are a lot of them that may create problems when running from SD card. Plus I found that some apps would not install to SD at all (Google Maps as far as I remember, and some others.) They can be moved to SD later, but direct installation to SD just fails.
This is only for aftermarket app installs. Either 3rd party or market.
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA App
Google Maps or Youtube (another one that would refuse to install directly to SD) are actually aftermarket apps. When I was moving them to SD to clean up some internal storage I had to uninstall them first (with TitaniumBackup), then reinstall to phone memory from the market, and only then move to SD.
It would be neat to have a simple program that would switch the setInstallLocation on demand. I wish somebody would write such app.
I think that would be a great option for roms on the sgs4g.
I like this phone and it has great potential but internal storage/app management will always be an issue. It would be nice to automatically move third party apps to SD during setup. Most run fine from SD and the few that don't can be moved to internal easily enough after rom install.
Thanks Krylon for working on this btw...

I think it is a great idea. Maybe making available an option where you can turn it off and on?
I don't think it's a good idea,i would like to be able to choose for myself which apps are installed where, some apps can be installed to sd card, but then you lose widget options.

You could still just choose save to internal, then move the ones you want later manually. Or the other way around. Move all to external and move them back if you want.
So my vote is, yes please. ;-)

+1. cant wait to get cwm back. My flashing addiction is getting to the point where not having it is about to cause me to have a complete meltdown. Lol
I think this is a great idea and for those of you that don't want this on your phone remember he said that this is only an option, he never said it was mandatory if he added the option.

I would love this option. Just so I understand, I'm a little slow, would market still ask where we would like to install, and if so would the market think it was installing to the internal when it was actually installing to sd card. In other words would we still continue to choose to install to internal mem, but in actuality it is installing to sd. My brain hurts.
Long story short... yes, I would like that very much thank you.
As far as I understand the process, with setInstallLocation set to 2 all you programs will go the SD card by default. No questions asked. You'll have to move to phone manually the ones you don't want on SD.
Some programs will fail to install completely. Seems like all Google apps do that, at least for now. You'll have to revert back to default install location to install such apps.

OP by Krylon
What this means is.
When you are in CWM recovery, and going to install a new ROM, CWM will ask you where you want the Apps to install. You can choose internal, or external SD. Then CWM will finish the install of the ROM placing the apps where you tell it. I am not sure which apps will have problems or not running from the external SD. But when it happens and if you run into problems with certain apk's on the external SD, you can just pull the apk and move it back to internal.
That is how I understand it anyways.
Oh, if that is all it is - where to place programs *during* ROM installation - it's perfectly fine then. I thought that during ROM flashing the option to install all apps afterwards would be preset either this or that way.

I was thinking the same thing. erp de derp!
I would be curious to see/know how many apps would be rejected this way. Which would be more work, deleting and reinstalling X # of apps or moving X # of apps to the sd card. Still, either way my vote remains to have the option.
I second the motion. Definitely yes!
Google is not helping me out here, searched the forum, and threads with similar titles with no luck.
Can anyone explain why TouchWiz does not like to run apps that are on your SD card? I've been replacing it with ADW, but I'd rather not so that I can get a good feel for the UI.
?? I have not run into this issue. Almost all my apps are installed in the SD card, and they run fine on TouchWiz. In fact, when I install an app from the market, it automatically installs on the SD card.

You need to do a factory reset on the phone, then reinstall all of the apps and they won't disappear.

One of my favorite features of rom manager is being able update nightlies. I purchased it back in my Dinc days and never looked back. I would like to use my sd card for backups, but the option to "Use External Storage" is greyed out. I am on the current premium version. Does anyone have an idea what is going on?
Side note, is it safe to flash ClockworkMod Touch recovery?

Agree, it is much more reliable doing it yourself than trusting an app to do it x.x and updating and backup storage can be done just as easily.
I do not have enough privileges to install the firmware
I am a semi noob. I have a lot of flashing pretty much down pat. I have a question about the external sdcard. I know that pictures and such will not save to it unless you convert it over. My question is instead of downloading mods and such to invert the two couldn't one just rename the two sdcards so that external sdcard becomes internal and vice versa? Just a thought and if not maybe someone could clarify what I need to do to make it happen.

you can change the default save location so pictures will save to ext. the only reason the card would need converted to fat32 is so cwm can see it.

Oh ok Im on Beans Touchwiz right now and the camera app has those options...couldnt remember if aosp camera did or not. One other thing you can try is reformatting the sd fat32 and moving the camera/dcim folder to external from internal sd.
If Paranoid Android is anything like CM10 you're stuck using the internal for now unless you find a camera app that will change it to external. Renaming the cards like that, if it would even work to fool the camera, would mess up everything else that uses the internal card.
I have been having similar issues. If I were you, I would flash to a different rom until they get the camera and sd card issues fixed. I love that rom also, but I can't even get wifi to work on it in hybrid mode. Give it a little while and I'm sure the devs will come up with a fix
Thanks guys for the speedy responses
Hello
So i have a little problem which is really anoying ...
I'm running the lastest stock FW which is Jelly Bean 4.1.1, and my device is rooteed ( i updated with OTA RootKeeper) and i'm sure i'm rooted because somes apps that requires root are working perfectly.
I have tried every single app on the market that would allow me to move my apps to the SD card but no success, every app fails ...
Any idea on how to fix this ?
Thanks in advance

Look for link2sd on the market. This app will move your apps to your sdcard then create a reference point for the OS to find the app. The draw back is it's a little technical to set this up. You need to create 2 partitions on your sd card, first partion is fat32 to store your normal stuff and the second partion formatted with ext4 for the apps. Currently there is no other app can move app to sd.

Well, let's say that some apps requires a certain patch that only works when the patch is applied to an app that has been moved to the SD card :fingers-crossed:
You can also use the app directory bind to do this on ICS or JB.
With large apps like GTA3, GTA Vice CIty, and Madden, even with a 32g card being able to move large apps to sd would be a godsend. Its making my god tablet slow being filled up. Be nice to find a workaround...
