Hi guys, first time posting here. Hope you can help me out with this.
I just bought a moto g (2013) and it came with android 4.4.2.
Upon launching it said that there's an update to 4.4.4 available. Whenever I try to install it I get an 'unexpected error'
Any ideas what to do?
What model is yours??? Xt1032,xt1033,... Do you try to flash 4.4.4 from fastboot mode???

Thanks for the reply! Its the XT1032
I'm failing to perform the OTA update, is there a better way to do it?
Hi,
I have the same problem, I just got the phone and it just won't update from 4.2, it always says "unexpected error. try again later". I also have the XT1032.

That's what I ultimately did, it just didn't work over OTA.
How can I flash 4.4.4?
Can I do it on unrooted device? I have the same problem. Bought new moto g and cant update it OTA - installation error. Am i going to loose warranty when i do that?

We can't flash that on the official OTA because there isn't a working custom recovery.

didn't read it was via ota. Try to use adb sideload
I made it (OTA US Global) NO REPACK / OFFICIAL OTA
The bootloader is the problem (you need to flash the 4.3 boot loader)
The steps:
1. Flash bootloader.img of android 4.3 (us global)
2. Boot to the custom recovery from your PC (mfastboot boot recovery.img) I tried to flash but get an error (boot failed)
3. Install superSU zip from the recovery
4. Enjoy
Thx for some user who gave me the idea

Hello..is that true? The specs of your phone is 1 GB RAM and internal 16 GB, I think 16 GB/2GB and 8GB/1GB? Cause I have a problem..My XT1550 before flashing firmware have RAM 2 GB but now only 1 GB
On 5.1.1 both screens work great.
If I flash 6.0.1, only the old screen works, the new screen is gets stuck in a bootloop.
WIth CM13 only the old screen works...
Have any of you faced this issue? If yes, can you please tell me how to fix this? I was trying not to create a new thread, but after 8 hours trying to fix this I'm getting frustrated...
Maybe you have the wrong screen? There are 2 screen suppliers for osprey.
I also replaced my screen now it duplicate and I am not able to use cm13 or ANY M.M based rom

I got it from eBay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/221994670691
The model is XT1541, so I got a generic one, but to my surprise it only works with 5.1.1, not 6.0 or up or CM13...

It could be used yes but it works with 5.1.1 but not with 6.0 and up, so it's not a problem with the screen but rather the Firmware that's blocking it... I read somewhere CM13 would work but it didn't, so I don't know what to do anymore... :/

I just want to make absolutely sure you are flashing the Firmware Image correctly. Did you erase userdata also when flashing? It is possible to port some aspects of the 5.1.1 firmware to 6.0 / 6.0.1 - hopefully specifically related to display / LCD. A custom 6.0 / 6.0.1 Kernel might also be a workaround. It might be worth mentioning this problem to a Kernel Developer in one of their threads.

I followed your tutorial and wiped userdata, yes I was confirming every file, the number of system images, etc. I'm used to flashing though fastboot
Is it possible to OTA using the factory images like on a nexus or is wiping userdata always a must?
I would try the OTA from 5.1.1 to 6.0 to see if it works...

@Martins2759 - I have a warning in my Firmware threads to never accept an OTA Update if you ever downgrade. I would advise against ignoring that warning.
Was about to create a thread, but we have the same problem (but i have a xt1544). There is a way to downgrade to LP with te locked bootloader?
Is now screen working with M.M

What I find strange is that when I turn on the phone the fault does not appear , Only when I enter the android desktop ... I am thinking of unlocking the Bootloader because some suggest that it may be the Kernel ... Do you know anything about it ?.

Hi! The last chance is to flash a custom kernels for your model. If this won't help, then I have no idea how to fix it. Maybe it's hardware problem?

I think the point he was making is that there are 2 root methods (2 different programs, if you like):
1 is called KingRoot and doesn't work
The other is called KingOroot, and this is the one that has shown to work on these units.
He wasn't pointing out your spelling mistake!
Jeah i know, but i tried Kingoroot and it does not work. I havent tried KingRoot yet.

You must install and then run Kingoroot. At 90%, it usually hangs, then simply terminate and re-run. It takes a while to get the root done.

I read about a method to enter the stock recovery via an update.zip.
So you are able to flash supersu.zip through stock recovery.
Anyone got an update.zip which is compatible with my device?

In factory settings type 'adbon' and then 'adbwf' and that enables adb wifi.
That gets me into the unit and I've then pushed su, and apk to data/local/tmp but I'm too thick to go further!
Pushing the intel sofia adbwifi package kills my HU completely, lot of hunting to find 7.1.2 20170731 to flash back!
Using 'RK3xxx Firmware Tools by SergioPoverony' allowed me to turn 'ro.secure' to 0 in the boot.img, repack nupdate.img and boot normally.
If I unpack 'system' and straight repack back, the unit will not even come up with the boot logo.
I think we need a pure 'root 7.1.1 - 7.1.2 PX3' thread that remains purely on that topic! There are bits and bobs dotted over XDA and 4RU but nothing concise. There must be a way to get root just so I can disable all the apps I don't use.
adbwf doesn't work for me.
