I have unlocked 2 of these manually. I sure hope your not thinking about using AAHK. but you don't only
need to s-off the device, in order to do that you would have to unlock bootloader first. Im not sure if root would
be required, but you could easily just flash supersu with cwm recovery or TWRP. And I wish you the best of luck with this,
and one note, I dont think that metropcs has sim cards, but I can't be sure as I use T-Mobile. Good luck!
~~~Never had any luck with Advanced Ace Hack Kit, had to s-off manually~~~
Hit the thanks button if i helped you! If you need the stuff to do it manually, PM me and I can give it to you.
Check if the bootloader is locked. I can't find any software for it. You will want a nandroid, so this will help you. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1818321
I used TowelRoot to root my phone
It can be found on here somewhere on xda forums
RootGenius seems to work well. I'd recommend it.
Im sorry if there was already a solution to this posted, but Ive been wracking my brain and searching the forums here for days and cant seem to find a solution. Im trying to SIM unlock my Sprint S5 G900P, As far as I seen I have to root it then downgrade it to kitkat in order to use the SSU application. Well the root was cake, used odin. But I have yet to be able to intall a new OS, I have used multiple .tar OS with no avail it fails everytime, if it helps im in the US. Please any Insight would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.
SSU wont unlock it for domestic use. @stifilz does domestic unlocks and idoneapps.com does too. Stifilz does them with no requisite cost, but a donation for all his hard work is always good, and idoneapps unlock is $35 and doesnt require root. also, to install a different OS, youll need to flash a custom recovery, and the majorly preferred one is TWRP. You get a tar.md5 (similar to what you flashed to root it) and install it via Odin. I might be twlling you stuff you already know about installing ROMs, but if you need addt'l info, let us know. In either event, SSU wont domestically unlock it regardless of what firmware youre running
No problem man. I'm not at work now, so let me know if you need anything else. I can throw some links and instructions at ya
I am new on this phone and I have a doubt, my phone is in marshmallow and the company verizon, as I can do root and unlock the bootloader ? I have understood that I need to pay 25 dollars to make the s -off but I just want to do root and unlock the bootloader. Thank you.
Sorry for my English
The only way to do it with Verizon branded m8 is to use sunshine. And that will get you an unlocked bootloader and s-off. After that you can flash twrp recovery through adb (get yourself familiar with and, it'll help you greatly. You can search around here and find some good reads on it.) After you get tarp flashed then you can flash supersu in twrp, then you'll be rooted.
This comment pretty much guided me through how to root for my m8. Thanks for taking the time to post this, even if it was a few months back. I was about to give up until I saw it, so thanks again!
Dismayed/Encouraged
I'm surprised that there are not any viable options for the Verizon HTC One(M8). I figured since my warranty was up I would try and root to get more freedom from the consuming Verizon bloatware and needless/redundant processes.
I know I did the same thing with my Samsung Galaxy S years ago and it became a very speedy and efficient phone. I really haven't been in the Android scene since so everything I did learn along with the methods and processes have all faded from memory.
Now I'm just reading up on a ton of stuff to get reacquainted. I was wanting to flash TWRP, SuperSU, and the ViperOneM8 6.1.0 rom. My wife and I both have a Verizon HTC One(M8) (running Marshmallow) which are out of warranty and wanted to give them a face-lift and boost in performance.
It is looking like the only feasible option is with Sunshine. . . . . . I hope. (?)
A $50 investment would be cheaper than buying 2 newer phones.
Any ideas, input, or pointers would be very much appreciated.
Regards,
What is the best way to get this phone rooted on the T-Mobile variant? Also, if the phone is unlocked and I want to use it on MetroPCS do I simply just add the sim card and change APN settings?
All indications are that this is really the only way to root the phone: http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...-to-notes-root-install-xposed-unroot-t3411039
However, IDK if this will work on the more recent firmware that has been released. They have some BS security patches and I'm unsure if this will F up the root process.
I have to say that I hate the direction rooting phones has been heading. It used to be so easy to find the root method and recovery for whatever phone you had on whatever carrier. Now for the most popular Android phone we have to run through all these hoops.
The PIA build can still be rooted using the method you linked. Just make sure you have the right files for your carrier.
I have heard/read that this method will work on every build except the nougat beta.
Hi folks. I'm researching a way to root my verizon sm-j337v. So far i've had no luck in finding a way. I've noticed that there is no option for oem unlock in dev options. I'm fairly new to this and have never rooted a phone before. I had an lg phoenix 4 that i was able to install twrp recovery and magisk on. I ended up losing the lg before i could root it though. Anyways i love the challenge of trying to root one so if you guys could possible help me out with this samsung i'd highly appreciate it. Also if you need more info on the phones software etc just lemme know. Thanks
