It was never very cooperative. Now seems to have stopped working completely.
I can shut down using any number of widgets (link2sd provides one). Problem is, turning the phone on. Right now, connecting a charger seems the only way (the ROM does not have offline charging which is an advantage for this alone!).
Ideas of how to fix it?

If it worked before (by pressing it harder i guess?) it may be just the contacts full of dust, etc. You may try a dissassembly by yourself (lots of guides on google for our phone) and try cleaning the contacts. Otherwise any gsm service can fix it
Don't have the coordination any longer for disassembly.
Anyway, forgot I had some contact-cleaner around. Simply spritzed on, around the switch and have actually had it work a couple of times.
Yes Optimus One has worst keys I always try to use widgets or any other app to reboot, recovery

Well my HTC Fuze works fine for about a year and half. However, idk how or why now my HTC Fuze power button on the top is not working. The only way to make it go to sleep mode if I let my phone turn of by itself in 1 min. Also, the only way to turn it on by slide the phone.
If anyone might know what cause the problem please help me.
Get xda shutdown or a similar app to turn the device off. There are a bunch of software options for putting the device to sleep, turning off the dispay, and shutting it down.
Same here but...
Same here but....
I have xda shutdown already, and when I Shutdown the phone it turn on again by itself.
I'm having the same exact problem! My Fuze has worked great for two years and all of a sudden a few days ago, the power button wont work. And my battery drains like crazy! It'll only last me 4 hours max... Any fixes on this? I've scoured the net and have seen that people have similar problems as this before; however, I haven't seen any fixes on it yet......
Possible solution power button problem Touch pro/Fuze?
I had the same problem on my Touch Pro, but now my power button seems to work again. I thought the problem might have to do something with my sim or my sd-card. The possibility of the sim as root of the problem was mentioned on this forum somewhere. The micro-sd card was just a guess. I had a lot of programs installed directly on the card, so when I did a hard-reset, these were still on there. If the problem would be on the micro-sd card, a hard reset would not help.
What I did was this. I removed the micro-sd card, the battery and the sim. I just pulled them out, since I wasn't able to turn the device off properly.
After that I only put back the battery and the device turned on automatically or I did it with the reset button on the bottom of my tp (I don't remember). Of course it showed the missing sim icon on top of the screen when turned on. The power button still didn't function at this moment.
I was a bit disappointed and inserted the sim, micro-sd card and battery again (I believe in this order). Lately, because of the power button problem, my tp turned on once the battery was inserted but this time it didn't. So I was pissed off that now my device wouldn't even turn on.
But to my surprise I could turn my tp on with te power button. Right now I can use the button just like before, it works fine!
Because I only tried this a few minutes ago I cannot tell you anything about the battery drain some of you and I experienced. And ofcourse I can't tell you if this is this is a permanent fix. I'm afraid to do a reset right now
I don't know why this worked for me and if it will work for you, but you can at least give it a shot right?
In short, what I did was this:
Pull out battery, sim and micro-sd card
Put back in the battery
Device will turn on automatically or turn on device with a reset (it will show the missing sim icon on top of screen)
Wait untill device is turned on properly
Pull out battery
Insert sim, micro-sd card and battery again
Turn on device with power button
If it won't work, maybe you can change the order of removing/inserting battery, sim and micro-sd card.
Good luck!
I was shocked to find a thread here of exactly the same issue I have, on the first page :O Few months back the power button stopped working altogether, so I resorted to using AEButton Plus to map double end call as the suspend power button, but now I have the issue of not being able to turn my phone off as whenever I do, the phone just turns itself back on again! At first I thought it was an issue with the internal mechanisms of the hardware button itself being jammed in place, but after reading this thread I'm starting to have doubts. I also experienced the battery drain problem with the phone rarely lasting 6 hours in standby, although a recent hard-reset and it shows that the battery drainage is around 170mAh with the screen on.
Been trying the above solution but to no avail ;( the phone keeps turning on by itself whenever I insert the battery, no matter the order.
All seems to you all have a HARDWARE problem.
Did you talking/using your PDA on rain/snow?
Maybe it make a some kind of short circuit?
Probobly the best way is carry your PDA to a service...
Yeah I've been pretty sure it's a hardware problem. I've hard-resetted and reflashed different ROMs and yet the problem persists. I don't remember getting the TP wet at all, but who knows. I don't know of any HTC service centers around here (Brisbane, Australia), so I've been looking for a way to fix this myself. No luck yet.
If you have skills to open Touch Pro you can probably do it at home.
Probably you must change flex:

This is not my item, I just simply shows how it looks this item.
I had the same problem.
My solution seems a bit unorthodox but it has always worked for me.
Slide your phone open, and flip it so it is facing screen down. You will see there is space between the power button and the phone. Put your mouth near that opening and breathe for 30 seconds to a minute. If the power button isn't working by the next day, repeat the process. The condensation from your breath does..well...something. And presto chango, it works again. The power button issue has happened about 3 times to me and doing this has always fixed it without fail.

In exhaust is moisture.
And then people say that the phone had no contact with the water... :/
Naturally I bought a g Tablet Saturday and Woot has them today for almost $100 less! Oh well. Big big big improvement from my old FlyTouch2 which was a great idea poorly executed.
Immediately flashed VEGAn with supplements etc. All working VERY well but a few questions/observations.
1) If I wanted to hook this up to a USB or Bluetooth modem (well, actually a BlackBerry) it looks like there is no setup for this? Yes, I know if I could find a way to make the BB broadcast WiFi but its corporate so that's a nonstarter.
2) When I hold down the power button, the menu that comes up it clipped off at the bottom. Is that normal?
3) Screen lock on Kindle software is not getting the accelerometer fix somehow. The trick was to put the thing in portrait UPSIDE DOWN and lock the screen. That caused it to lock it 180 degrees off. But then when it is locked you can go back to right side up (to me, right side up is with the buttons to the top). Of course, if you want to lock it another way you have to experiment.
4) Camera Fun shows camera upside down. No big deal -- again accelerometer I think.
5) Sometimes I am sure the machine is asleep and when I turn it on it is booting from the birds screen. Anyone else seeing this?
6) I don't understand the .nomedia thing although I've read a lot about it. I don't seem to get files erased, but nothing shows up in Video. But if I navigate to the folder (on /mnt/sdcard2) and play videos that's fine. Then later the files will show up in video. Whoops spoke to soon. Now they are gone. What's up with that?
7) My old tablet had GPS but without the external antenna it was worthless. But it still managed to find rough location with WiFi somehow. I assume by figuring out the geographic location of the IP. That doesn't seem to work on this machine. Yes Use Wireless networks is checked in Location and security.
8) What's with the little plastic cover? How hard is it to take out? I don't want a little rubber dingle rolling around inside.
8) In System Preferences, About Device | Status consistently crashes.
9) Does the audio jack support a headset or just headphones? Yeah I know -- I could just try it.
If it matters I'm using Launcher Pro.
Still and all the VEGAn ROM is superb. Compared to the FlyTouch this is super fast, the screen is a joy, and the battery life wonderful. And with the woot deal only about $80 more than a FlyTouch2.
Ok I'll answer some of my own questions:
5) I think this is the unresponsive power button problem. If you press and wait it seems ok. If you press, get impatient and press again you might reboot.
9) No, at least not with a Blackberry headset.
Most of these are answered on the forum somewhere, but I'll give it a shot..

Known issue.
These aren't much help (maybe reassurance?)
1) Pretty sure it's wifi only. Have trawled the internet looking for a usb or bluetooth alternative because wifi hammers the phone battery
2) It happens on mine as well, so it's not just you
5) Same here - I just turn it off when not in use now
7) Only GPS functionality seems to come with the need for an external GPS unit
8) Think this is normal
(Re reading above, it looks like I'm negative re VEGAn - this is not the case. It is way better than what came standard and does everything I need it to do)
Yeah I like it too. Haven't tried the others, but very satisfied with Vegan.
Another observation: Long pressing the Menu button (hardware) brings up the keyboard. However, long pressing the menu button on the status bar does NOT have that behavior.
Clemsyns newest kernel will fix sleep issues. Also has some other great improvements too.
Buttons on status bar do not respond to long presses. Home doesn't bring up its usual long press of recent apps either. Funny, i Never even tried long press on status bar keys before now.

I have Pershoot's kernel. I'll try changing. I presume I shouldn't need to clear too many things in CWM after flashing a kernel. Maybe the Dalvik cache?
My phone runs perfectly fine until I enable Gps location. Once I enable GPS location, it freezes, then it reboots my phone and it slowly do a system check, then it continuously rebooting the lg logo screen. I tried taking out the battery and put it back in, even took out my battery for a day and it still does the same. I'm not sure if it's the hardware problem, but it's a pretty rare case, since I read most of the threads in forums, people said it can be fix once you pull out the battery, but somehow it's not working for me. Anyone knows the reason why? Btw, my phone is not rooted or used any 3rd party program.
Ah. Posted too soon. There's a master reset that I believe is Power and Volume Up. Try that.
Unfortunately, it's still not working. Is there any other possible way? Or else I have to call in and return it.
Try turning off the phone, then press power + vol down and hold it until you see the word android. This should do the factory reset.

It sounds like the permissions are not correct, or perhaps that your ROM was not flashed correctly. I have seem this problem happen numerous times due to bad firmware flashes or ROM issues. I would just download a new copy of the latest CM 7 ROM or whatever your favorite ROM is and flash it through CWM.
Thanks guys for the help. I found out that you have to hold down first then power button for around 30 second and then the droid animation comes out. I was so close to returning it. Thanks!
Hi, I've been using ViperS 5.1.2 for some time now on my Sensation XE, and it used to work great for me. But since a few days I've got this really annoying freezing problem and I just cannot find a solution.
The touch screen just freezes without any reason, sometimes after using the phone for half an hour, but most of the time within a few seconds after unlocking the screen. When it freezes, the screen won't respond to anything, also not on the back or home button. If I use the on/off button though, the screen will respond again for one or more seconds. This happens randomly; a lot of times I can't even unlock the screen properly, and the rest of the time I only get the screen working normal for a at most 10 seconds. This way it can take a few minutes just getting to the settings menu, for example. The phone does not report any error; after using the on/off button it just goes on where it froze. Also the phone reacts to tilting the screen. Or when playing a video, this just keeps playing normally. So it seems to be purely the screen itself...
I tried a lot to figure out what could be the cause of this problem: uninstalled a lot of recently installed or updated apps, checked the amount of free space/RAM, cleared cache, Dalvik, used nandroid backups to return to a previous (in the past good working) state, tried if removing the sd card would make any difference and finally flashed the rom again. All to no avail; the problem keeps occurring. At first, after trying out a possible solution like the ones I've mentioned, it looks like this did the trick. Sometimes the phone appears to work normal for at most half an hour. But then the problem occurs again, and will at that point occur at a high frequency.
I am out of idea's right now and am getting quite desperate. I need this phone to work properly badly, as I will go on my vacation in a few days and really need to be able to use some of my apps then. So I do hope somebody can help me out here? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Yes, does not make any difference. I found today that the phone is now also acting strange in clockworkmod recovery touch, that's for the first time. Can't properly use the touch screen there either any more, only with hardware buttons. So now I guess this should really be a hardware issue. Maybe the phone is just dying...
Yess its a common thing for our phone to act that way while charging.... It has somtheing to do with its poor grounding. You can find threads to help u with how to solve it.

Hi everyone, I'm throwing this out there because I've run out of ideas about what has just happened to my U12+ (64gb) today.
I woke up and used my phone as normal, caught up on Twitter and the news, the usual apps etc. nothing untoward. The same routine I've had with my phone for the past 18 months of owning it with zero issues. My handset is stock OS (Android 9) and so not rooted or anything like that. Virtually all the apps I use are standard issue from the Play Store, nothing really "out there" and I have BitDefender installed to look after security. Same setup I've had for over a year. The battery was around 35% so I plugged it into my wall charger while I went off to grab some breakfast. When I returned a couple of hours later the light on the handset was green, I unplugged the charger and attempted to unlock it with my fingerprint.
The phone asked for my PIN, no big deal so I entered it. Black screen. Tapped the power button again, it requested my PIN again, I entered and... black screen. Okay, I was a little bit concerned now. I held down the power button so the haptic buzz occurred, held for 10/20/30 seconds, a minute... nothing, no restart. Tap the power button and it asks me for my PIN again and shows yet another black screen. I held down Power + Volume Down but again, nothing and no restart.
I asked someone to call me, the screen came to life and I could take the call but each time I tried to pull down the system tray in order to try and reach Settings to restart it asked me for my PIN, I entered it = black screen. The call was unaffected.
I removed my SIM + microSD card tray = same deal as above.
The phone is clearly responsive in some way and the screen does display to ask for my PIN but I can't get into it in order to reboot it. Extremely worrying.
Does anyone have any advice? At the moment I am faced with the prospect of simply allowing the battery to run out so the phone shuts down naturally but that is going to take the best part of 2 days.
I'm really disappointed because I was planning another 1-2 years use for this handset as I just bought a 1TB microSD card which has been fine in the phone for weeks so I don't think that's the cause. It is also genuine SanDisk.
Any suggestions or advice? Thanks in advance.
Hello, I hope you have made a backup with google backup recently... This does not happen often on android, but sometimes the system could have a problem. You can try this go the bootloader with the power and volume buttons , after recovery.. after apply a wipe data/ factory reset.. is will make a factory reset of your phone except the sd card. You should by fine after that and profit again.
Thanks, I appreciate your reply.
At the moment I am running the battery down until the handset switches off naturally. When it comes back on I will try to launch the phone normally, if that doesn't work I'll run the battery down again and attempt to reach the bootloader.
My photos are backed up to the cloud, I may lose some text messages but I managed to transfer the majority of my 2FA over to another Android device bar one.
At the end of the day if it's a choice between wiping it or a bricked/unusable handset then I don't really have one. What a pain.

The first thing I tried to do was hold down the power button or the power button in tandem with the volume buttons but the handset won't restart. I tried loads of times holding it for different amounts of time and... nothing.
Trust me, I tried.
The only way I can get the device to switch off is by draining the battery. I'm almost at 20% so it shouldn't be too much longer.
Well I already got a black screen after flashing a module magisk.. I have holding the power button and the phone have restart no problem, same thing on bootloop. You need to be sure to hold the button correctly.

Yeah, I'm certain I was holding the buttons correctly. I tried about 20 times using different combinations just to be sure but the device would not restart. The haptic shock buttons are one of my least favourite features of the u12+, it's got to be said.
Anyway, the phone ran out of battery about 15 minutes ago. I left it alone for few minutes and switched it back on. It allowed me back in and the device appears to be fully functional again. I can unlock by thumb print, face or PIN without issue.
Basically, it's fixed. My only concern is I have no idea what caused it or if it will happen again.
Thanks for offering help though, I appreciate it. I'm not sure if this thread can be closed/locked now? I'll look into that.
Cheers.
Yes.. i love the buttons too i never got a problem with this. Great if is fixed! Maybe make a factory reset the next time.
I am wondering if the new flagship have haptic buttons too.. htc will announce it Tuesday.
