[Completed] [Q] Elementalx installer auto-detects my sprint M7 as verizon - XDA Assist

Htc one M7 Sprint
ViperOne 6.2.1
Elementalx 14.12
Every update of Elementalx after 14.12 has failed. The installer is supposed to detect if it is sprint or verizon and install the correct variant. After selecting all of my settings and hitting "Install" it says it is installing the verizon kernel. After rebooting, I go into settings/about and see that I am still on 14.12. About 1 minute after booting I get a warning that HTC Dialer has stopped. After 1-2 more minutes the phone reboots. If I reflash 14.12 and the radio I am back to normal. (Restoring a nandroid backup does not fix the dialer or bootloop.)
A while back I had temporarily altered the Sku in "Default.xml" as part of a hack to get Sim unlock. Is it possible this has something to do with it?
I'm looking for a way to correct the cause of the misidentification or at least trick the installer into installing the sprint variant.

Hi,
The best place to find help would be asking in the kernel thread, but you'll need to reach 10 constructive posts first.
In the meantime, you will need to ask here for help....

[Completed] LGG2 LS-980 CloudyG3 Installation Help

Hello, I recently discovered that CloudyG3 1.3 was released, and right it is the only known stable version (1.3)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2783192
I noticed it said all variants, which also includes my Sprint LS-980ZVC. I don't know if I have clockworkmod installed, and when I try to "update" clockworkmod through ROM Manager, my phone is not listed, but the AT&T and Verizon variant is listed.
Within the first step of installing CloudyG3, the instructions say to perform a Full Wipe including Dalvik, Cache, System & Data. To my knowledge the only way to do this is to wipe while in clockworkmod recovery mode, which is apparently achieved by holding Volume Down+Power+Volume Up. When I do this, I boot into Hardware key control mode. The only thing stopping me from installing CloudyG3 is not being able to boot into clockworkmod recovery mode. Can anybody help me with this? Here are some specs for my phone.
Android Version: 4.4.2 KitKat
Baseband Version: M89774A-AAAANAZM-2.0.20046
Build Number: KOT49I.LS980ZVC
Software Version: LS980ZVC
Hi,
First, if you are currently rooted properly, try Quick Boot from the play store. It can boot you into recovery.
Then, you should be set. As far as recovery version goes, you should use the recommended version if the rom thread says to.
Once you have 10 constructive posts, you can post in the rom threads, which is the best way to ask questions about them. So maybe browse around and contribute some meaningful posts.
Until then, you can ask for help in your devices Q&A section....

Not able to receive the new update (verizon htc m8)

I have a verizon htc one m8. When I go to settings > software update > check new, it always comes back with a "download unsuccessful" error and it says "we were not able to download this update. to retry, go to settings > software update". I have also tried updating via the htc sync manager but when i try to update, it says something like live update server is not reachable or something. my htc is rooted and bootloader unlocked + s-off. i have read somewhere that having a custom recovery makes it impossible for ota so i flashed the stock recovery and tried it but to no avail. also when i first rooted my phone i did a backup immediately before i started deleting all the bloatware and apps that i didn't want. and when i restored to that first backup it still doesnt work. another thing is that i currently live in india and i bought my phone from the states. that's all the information i can think of. any help would be greatly appreciated.

In order to accept the OTA you need to have the stock recovery along with an unrooted stock ROM with NO system modifications, that includes removed bloatware.
So pretty much you need to flash an unrooted stock ROM then revert to stock recovery. If you're just looking for the firmware however, there is a thread in the Development section of the Verizon M8 forum for that.

Can be rooted.
A US OTA update won't download to your phone in India. But why OTA??? Download and flash the 4.4.3 firmware, then flash a rom of your choosing. If you want pure VZW stock, scrosler has a stock rooted rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2874699
Even better, flash his CleanROM 2.0
Thank you to all that replied. I think my problem is that my phone was bought from the states and I'm using it in India, just like berndblb said, Anyways, thanks to dottat I've flashed the new update into my phone through fastboot. So happy to be running the new firmware. Anyways thank you everyone who took their time to reply.

[Completed] How to reinstall preloaded vodafone system software files that have been deleted?

I have HTC one (M8) unlocked, S-off(used sunshine) running TWRP custom rom. I have rom manager pro, supersu pro. Unfortunately I have deleted carrier software "discover" and "updater" I have received software update file 2.22.161.6 (706.34mb) and have tried to install several times but it constantly fails. The best I have had is the install gets about 25% along the green bar and then goes to the "red triangle" which I believe is the wipe cache symbol. I am a complete newbie but thought I had read up enough and watched enough videos of "how to" - to actually get by, obviously this is not the case and now I'm stuck and don't know what to do I have searched the web for other users in a similar position but can't find any answers/solutions. On one occasion when I tried to install the update the teamwin screen came up and then went to fail with quite a long message that I photographed but it did say "MD5 file missing" I wondered if this was down to removing the preloaded carrier stuff? I don't mind doing a factory reset if that is advised but will I loose my paid for apps? especially the S-off bought through the sunshine app and quite expensive.
Can you please help / advise.
P.S. the phone is working perfectly I just can't update even tried flashing a couple of stock rom's via PC but just returns to TWRP every time.

[Q] Factory Reset After Unlocking & Rooting Accident :(

ONePlus One 64GB
Unlocked, Rooted, Installled TWARP, & Custom ROM Sabermod CM12 -SM4.8-bacon, Android ver. 5.0.2, kernel ver 3.4.105AK.093.OPO.SKULL.CM12, GAPPS -lp-20141109-signed-zip, bacon_firmware_update_2015_04-09.zip... It took me forever to get this done.
I read in similar threads only data was supposed to be erased :\
Then friend said that GPlay store was soooo slow he Factory Reset... I had SuperSU, Root Checker, & Trickster.... all three gone.
1) Re-downloaded Root Checker & it say: SuperSU is not installed properly?
2) Can I download Color OS ROM & keep it saved with current custom rom then switch between running each one till I get them working right.
3) Why problem with Google Play store - Slow Gapps??
4) Do I proceed from here? Thank you all.

[Completed] WiFi won't turn on ( endless WiFi turning on loop )

Hello,
So yesterday I downloaded and installed it along with the most recent gapps linked on wiki page of CM. When it installed and I unlocked the device there were alot of Google Play error popups, but the WiFi was working. So afte I went on and downloaded and installed another Gapps which seems to be working just fine I ran into another error-my WiFi is in an endless turning on loop. So far I have tried recovering back to the pre CM13 install version which sadly didn't solve the problem. How can I fix this issue, it happened to me before and the solution was to simply recover to last version but this time it doesn't work.

Hello, and welcome to XDA!
If you flashed the different GApps without reflashing the ROM, something odd may have got stuck.
Try a factory reset, reflash the ROM and then the right Gapps. Test.
If still a looping wifi, you may need to restore your stock backup or at worst, RUU back to stock and start over.
Any questions about any of this, can ask in the following thread:
> HTC One (M8) > One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting > [HELP THREAD] HTC One M8 - Ask any questions here!
Please note, to post there, you will need to have an XDA account.
Hope this helps, and good luck!
