[Q] Possible battery drain? - Transformer TF300T Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,
I recently flashed the CROMBi-KK ROM on my TF300T and chose the that11-DIRTY+ kernel on the installation.
This morning I charged my tablet to 100% at 9:00 AM. Now it's 5:00 PM here and my tablet only has 27% of battery charge. I mostly browsed on the web with it for one and a half hour (I guess, could be two...) at full brightness, browsed a little bit Facebook, but I didn't do much else.
I overclocked it a little bit (1500 MHz) on the Installation, but I changed the settings with the AnTuTu CPU Master Free to maximum 1300 MHZ and minimum 51 MHz. Scaling is ondemand.
Is it normal that the TF300T loses its power so fast? I mean, I have it now for almost 2 years, but it seems to me, that my tablet didn't lose so much battery power with the stock ROM.

I've come across the same issue. Battery drain on Cromi is huge. When no use it lasts no more than 2 days.

[Q] How long does your battery last and state your usage statistics

I'm starting to thinking that my battery is defect because I had Nexus S [sold] prior to purchasing another Nexus S, which I'm currently using.
It used to last me about a day, now it lasts about 5 hours.
I set it to auto brightness [which seems to use about 70% of my battery according to battery use on Settings].
I sync my school email every one hour, GMail, and few other SMS-alternative applications that pops up.
I have Live Wallpaper.
My settings were pretty much identical to my previous Nexus S so I'm not sure what exactly is wrong.
Any suggestions on improving battery life?
Is auto-brightness equal to better battery life or lowest (1) setting? I'm totally fine with auto brightness but I can't seem to see well outdoors when it's set to lowest brightness setting.
Do you use setcpu? It can help extend your battery life to last you throughout the day.

I set my CPU below 1 GHz when battery is under 50% but I can see it lag and since the battery seem to go down to 50% pretty quickly, I'm not sure if that's a feasible option.
16 hours, 55 minutes on battery ... and battery left = 69% ...
It was mostly on wifi, games, browsing, etc.
Mine lasts about 12 hours with fairly heavy useage. MSN messenger via beejiveIM, texts, emails via gmail and loads of web.
I bought a second (genuine) battery and an external charger so I always have 2 available and charged.
I tend to leave setcpu at 800MHz max unless I particularly need the horsepower, in which case I can bump it up to 1.4GHz if I need it.

The important part is to underclock your CPU to a very low clock when it's screen is off. That will boost your battery significantly

Yep, I checked my profile again and screen off is set to 800 max 100 min. Should I lower even more?
Temp > 50.0 C is 400 max 100 min
Charging is 1000 max 1000 min.
Battery < 50% is 1400 max 1000 min.

Thoughts on OverClocking Sensation

Hey guys,
Ive been using SetCPU since it was fixed for the sensation. I am curious about what others have observed as far as battery life and performance goes.
I am running 1.8Ghz with a cpu voltage of 1.265V (1265000uV).
My battery doesnt last all that long despite all the profiles I have in place. I guess thats expected when you overclock by that much, huh? Is it worth it though?
Im sure more of you out there have experience to share. Im not talking Quadrant and benchmark scores, Im talking REAL use!
I am beginning to feel that dropping the frequency down may be in order since I cannot find anything that needs 1.8Ghz to work on this phone. Plus, less frequency means less required voltage. That would mean more battery!
Anyone care to chime in with their overclock frequency + voltage and experience?
Matt
I'm also interested in getting some input from other users, without having to clog up the respective overclocking threads in the Development section.
Yesterday after work, I set up the 1.5Ghz Undervolted option using utking's tool (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1168707). I didn't see too much need to push my CPU too hard, and a stable UV always piques my interest.
I created a couple of basic SetCPU profiles (screen off, battery below 20%, temperature < 50C), and scaling on demand up to 1512Mhz, my phone took about another 7-8 hours of moderately heavy use (Navigation, Maps, Yelp, photos, etc.) before it was on its last legs.
Bear in mind that I've been using the Anker 1900mAh battery. But even after the OC-UV that I set up, this was at least as good of battery usage as before without any SetCPU or overclocking, and actually seemed to be a little bit better to be honest.
I just dropped down to 1.6Ghz @ 1.26V...
I couldn't keep my phone from freezing with anything less than 1.26V @ 1.6Ghz. We will see how this goes for a few days and compare to my previous 1.8Ghz @ 1.265V.
So far, speed seems to be FASTER than 1.8Ghz. My Quadrant score (only being used here for comparison reasons) was 2700 right off the bat, whereas 1.8Ghz would peak around 2700-2800 after several tries.
The carousel works much better! I can swipe through quickly and have it scroll with zero lag. I can also fast swipe and watch is spin nicely!
Google Earth and Maps is about the same as 1.8Ghz.
Before, at 1.8Ghz, I could probably get 16 hours out of my phone with VERY LIGHT use. (A few 2min phone calls, check mail throughout the day, check the web a little). I am charging the phone up and will report back later.
Matt
I went down from 1.62 UV to 1.5 UV,because I could not see any difference in general use nad in benchmarks(except Quadrant) and battery consumption is much bigger with 1.62 with exact same profiles on setCpu.I think that this is best compromise between speed and battery life and as far as I know this is native clock speed of 8260 Snapdragon.

How simple is it to temp-root and overclock? I am really only interested in overclocking to speed up Sense, and you said it performs better with a speed boost.

Very,very easy,just read this tread :http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1168707
I have mine undervolted at VDD_1175000 and 1500MHz. I like it very much...makes a big difference in quadarant score, but not sure in reality how much faster. Battery life is fine (when the phone is on). Have not experiened FC's
I have modified eugenes batch file to push my kernel file and preferred speed after perma-temp-root and now is all in one click...
So here is a little update:
Its been about 8 hours since full charge and I am at 55% battery left.
1.6Ghz @ 1.26V, On Demand.
Ive been checking email, making a few calls, and surfing the net with both wifi and GPRS (was out of the network, away from 4G). I also played Angry birds for a little bit and showed off Google Maps and Earth to my Mom.
Now that Im back home, ive turned back on 4G...
Ive noticed a slight amount of hesitation while opening and closing things, but nothing bad.
I havent had any profiles kick in yet, but they will soon with the battery getting low. I will resist charging the phone and see if I make it through the night, using it as I need it. I will report tomorrow.

I must be doing something wrong.
I am rooted and running LeeDriods 1.2 Rom. When I launch setcpu the only options i have are 1000 mghz? WTF am i doing wrong?
i think at LeeDroid 1.2 you must not use setcpu but Demon control?

Hmmm, okay. I saw where set cpu was updated for the sensation in the latest release but it doesn't seem to support overclocking with this rom.
Shame that as i was about to get that rom and flash it onto my phone, glad i came in here now
Running Leedroid 1.0
Kernel @ 1.7ghz max, i have it set to 1.5ghz and 192mhz
Runs hot when i play finger racing or reckless racing or modern combat 2 or something intensive, but besides the heat, it drains just like it normally would to be honest, maybe a little quicker, definite speed increase in overall user experience, without an OC the rom just flops, better than stock but just crap, OC is needed.

[Q] Underclock - usefulness AND values

I am playing a bit with underclocking my DS (Using UNITY v4 kernel atm, will update to v9 later).
However, I'm figuring out the usefulness of it (to extend battery life mainly).
Does it really save battery life? I'm already using JuiceDefender, and its SetCPU function.
Or is it not very useful since the most batterydrain comes from radios anyway.
What are the best values for it?
What's the standard clockspeed for the DS? And what is the best Max IDLE clock speed?
Well, i wont underclock at all.
First of all there is no need to do that to get good battery life. You can do lot other stuff to do so.
Under-clocking is risky as it might now have enough power that needed to the phone. that means that some stuff might not get processed like calls and stuff.
Right now with me using miui i get life for about 3-4 days.
Standard clock speed is 1,000mhz.
I have mine underclocked to 600mhz during idle times and it's perfectly fine.
Never had any issues at that speed and it keeps my Desire S much much cooler which can only be a good thing.
As for it's ability to extend the battery, I don't think it does so much in my case. I typically run WiFi overnight and G/3G/H during the day and my display usually chews up 60-70% of my overall battery usage even on a very dark screen.
I'd pick a setting that you feel comfortable with but have low expectations of the benefits.
The only time I use underclocking is for using Google Navigation.
On a hot day using Navigation for over a couple of hours, my DS would over-heat and restart (usually as I was approaching my motorway exit). So I have Tasker dialing back CPU to 768Mhz when using Navigation, and it does seem to help the phone run a little cooler. I no longer have to take it out the case for example.
Using the smartass governor (I believe) automatically knocks the CPU back to 240Mhz when sleeping. Not 100% on that though.
I'm currently testing a new kernel, and I spent an entire charge cycle on 'Smartass' and then an entire charge cycle on 'Powersave'. Aside from lots of lag on the latter one, the battery life was pretty much the same!

best kernel?

well im viewing the 70's show on my eee pad with the dock connected im losing around 5-6 precent battery every episode this is seems just not right i using blades panda test kernel 1.2 ghz and revolver rom is there any other kerel or rom that will give me better battery or maybe the dock battery is just weak
Same thing for me, i don't know what are differences between the kernels and i have some problems with my battery life :/
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk
well i guess it common and its not drain
i thing the diference between kernels is not big
5 or 6% per episode - how longs an episode? half an hour?
so you could almost watch 10 hours of episodes just from the tablets battery then another 10 hours from the keyboard docks battery? and your overclocking?.........the battery life in use is estimated at 8 hours on the tablet and 8 on the dock - seems fair enough to me or have i worked that out wrong?
epidose is 20 minutes
yes i am around 1.2 GHZ
even when i tried underclocking it was the same
well iguess you worked it out pretty good
thats around 7 hours only on dock battery
Set brightness to low, use headphones.
I'm losing 6-7% with headphones and at 45% brightness watching one House, M.D. episode (40 min) - ah and OC 1.472 Ghz with 100mV average UV.

[Q] Help increasing battery life to 12+ hrs (heavy useage)

Cycled 3 times now and the first day with moderate use I went about 8-9 hours. It was awesome. Now that I'm using it a little heavier and will actually be using it quite heavily with data, gps, browsing, phone calls etc. I am noticing maybe that really isn't enough... I need like 12 hours or more like I hear some people are getting...
So I ask you XDA, what is THE BEST way for me to achieve super long battery life with heavy use. I'm already using SetCPU (settings below)
2100 maH battery? (Will this even be a huge difference from our current battery? I don't know what our stock battery maH is..)
3800 maH battery? (If this ends up being the best solution...I need a good case to support it and these usually don't have those...)
A way to turn off LTE?
...any other way to get 12+ hours out of my phone with heavy usage? I'm never in the car long enough or at a desk long enough some days to be able to plug my phone in and charge...
Also, I've searched and searched and can't find anything other than "The LTE is still on even if you use X ROM, or turn X settings off, or install X kernel/radio." Is there any new update on how to turn off LTE on the Skyrocket when rooted?

*Note: If the 2100maH battery takes the stock back plate and it can give me what I'm asking for I would PREFER it. I have an Otterbox case I dropped $50 + SH on and I'd like to keep using it....

Thank you Hemi! Is Andida a good brand or something? Or are you just letting me know so I can find it? Just curious. How has the life been? I had an Atrix before the SkyRocket and I know a MAJOR issue with that phone was anything above stock that was breaking the 2000maH mark WOULD NOT register in the battery's true %. No matter what cycling, "fixes", battery stat resets etc. that you did. Does the battery on here show you the actual stats? Would this battery last long enough to meet my needs? 12 hour day with heavy usage?
Sorry for the question bombardment...but if this will really answer my needs which I really need answered ASAP, I will drop the $ for this immediately.

How do you UV?
Also, what do you guys who've under clocked found as a good clock to keep it at? 1.5ghz is REALLY high IMO and I normally have it cap around 1.2ghz...anyone found a good clock to run around and it still be snappy and smooth?
Also..how do the guys with stock batteries get those 12 hour times? Is it just moderate usage? Will the 2100mah or 2200mah batteries give me what I want? 12 hours high usage? Or do I need to go with the 3800mah seidos I've been hearing a lot of good reviews on...?

Can't help with the battery, but I run 1080 max 192 min, battery is more or less same as 1500 max for me. I get 4hrs screen on time, maybe 3.5 if there's above average voice use. This is with data on the whole time. I've found my battery is just about completely dependent on screen time, minus some expected drain over the course of hours but that's very minimal.

The battery and mfg is the only one I found that was a 2500maH. It was the largest I found that kept everything I wanted (stock battery, cover, etc). There might be another CO that makes one, but this is what I've found. Two weeks and running. It charges the first 65% like a banshee, then slows down for the remainder.
It's worked well for me, extending my day and making life easier. It really doesn't take any longer to fully charge than the stock one did, just longer life throughout the day.
Hope this helps.
You thought about getting external mobile charger or just spare batteries? you charge everything when you got the time and then just swap around when needed.
have i got a solution for you my friend...
I'm testing a set of tweaks i made for my old phone which is working well. These tweaks provide excellent battery life and incredible performance gains.
Just to give you a quick snapshot, I'm at 22+ hours uptime @ 28% under moderate use. I'm not oc/uv either, and i am on official aokp Rom.
I plan to have it finalized by Sunday as long as my normal life duties don't interfere...

I am the exact same way with my skyrocket, heavy use for work and need at least 12hrs+ battery. So after much research, Looking at extra batteries to carry around or the tweak/root/rom method, which is way more convenient then carrying around batteries all the time.
I rooted my device, put SKYICS on it, and tweaked the CPU and UV, and now I'm using my phone heavy and at hour 12 i'm at 39%, so happy now with this phone now. It does me. Give it a try, believe me you wont be disappointed.
