Ngm wilco bricked flashing recovery CWM - General Questions and Answers

Hi everybody, I have got a big problem with my ngm wilco. I'm afraid I made hardware damage. I was flashing the CWM recovery following these instructions: http://bm-smartphone-reviews.blogspot.it/2012/05/mt6575-flashing-tutorial.html using the ZTE V970 CWM recovery that I found in the second post in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1856578. The phone was already rooted. But the application Smart phone flash tool gave me an error message while I tried flashing without the preloader (I unflaged it because the developer says that it's not necessary). I also tried selecting all the flag, but I always had error messages. Unfortunately the Wilco didn't remain in the previously status, because now it's totally bricked. It doesn't turn on; I can't use the recovery pushing the power and the volume up button; I can't flash the stock rom because the pc doesn't identify the phone. I hope that I didn't made hardware damage, because I'm afraid that the official assistance wouldn't recognize the warranty considering that I was making modding. Thanks a lot for your answers

Nobody of you can help me???

[Q] Haipai i9389 (MTK6589) Recovery?

Hi guys, I bought the above phone off Amazon. I found out this very strange device also had a root-enabled kernel out of the box, but my question is about recovery. I want to install CWM as a first choice, if not that, TWRP, but a Google search only tuns up loose references to MTK6589 which is presumably the SoC, but nothing for my specific model. Currently when I reboot to recovery with any root app it shows 'no command' (maybe there is no recovery installed to the recovery partition?) and when entering bootloader mode the device displays what is seen in the attached photo.
I would appreciate any help on getting a working recovery set up on this device.
Thanks!

Hi, I also have one of these phones and have been looking at recovery options with little success.
However I have found a set of instructions in the XDA University about porting CWM. (unfortunalty I can't post a link due to being a Noob, but if you Google 'porting cwm' it should be the top result).
I am going to be attempting to do this once I have got my PC set up dual boot for Linux.
Will post back with news on how it's going. Would appreciate any progress you have made about a recovery option.
Regards
Mad.
first, make a backup of your device using mtk droid tools.
if phone isn`t rooted yet, use this tutorial:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2332783
for the recovery, you need to unpack your recovery.img, take the kernel zImage and put it in the cwm-recovery. for mt6589 phones, this one should work: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2357875
you can unpack/repack your boot.img with this tools:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1587411
after obtaining new recovery.img, flash it through SP flash tool or mobileuncle tools.
Recovery Quirk
Chrizzly, thanks for the pointers, will be checking out the tools tonight.
Found a quirk though, may just be my phone.
I booted into recovery last night and as expected the "no commands" came up, but then I took the back off the phone and a recovery menu appeared. Had options in there like reboot, delete cache, delete delvik cache....
I'm assuming this is the stock recovery.
I tested it again this morning and booting into recovery and then taking the back off the phone made the menu appear!!
Any one else care to test and see if it's a stock thing or just a quirk of my phone.
replied before, my post disappeared.. this isn`t related to your device , this is recovery-typical. it is showing the android first, without a menu. you need to press hardware buttons, to get into the menu( this is device-specific, you need to try that, also buttons on the touch screen, if there are some) this will usually bring you in recovery MENU. think you accidently pressed one of these buttons while opening the device.

Re: Stock recovery. Thought it was a button press that got me in first time but I tried it several times and no button worked just pulling the back off. Little puzzled about that but it's something I can live with!!

Re: Files. Thanks for the files, going to try them out as soon as I can!!
Done
I have got CWM working on my i9389 now, there was a few quirks in getting it going.
The method I used was as posted in the MTK Droid Root & Tools thread by rua1.
TIPS
Leave the battery out when doing read back or flash in Flash Tools.
Not mentioned in the instruction is the MTK vcom drivers which you will need and can be found in the Root tutorial posted by Chrizzly a bit further up.
Make sure you read the instructions by rua1 closely and use the images posted as it's not always straight forward.
Last tip pay attention to where MTK tools puts the files it creates, had me stumped for a bit!! I've never been very good at following instructions!!

I managed to boot loop mine while messing with a ROM I made (it's not finished yet) but managed to recover by re-flashing using the Flash Tools a back up I had taken just after installing CWM.
Do you have a back up you can flash?
I have just checked mine and even zipped it's still 800MB so I can't email it to you...
...sure if I looked about I could find somewhere to upload it to for you. PM me if you need this!!

[Completed] Asus Padfone X - soft-bricked

Hello,
thank you for taking the time to read and try to help.
I got an Asus Padfone X from At&t and the refused to unlock it
Asus didnt help either.
not to bore you with details
but here is my noobish mistake tool form, i flashed the asus kernel .zip file to the bootloader using twrp.
now phone wont boot into recovery or bootloader
got the minimal tool which as you know include fastboot and ADB
but it wont detect the device ( it detected it before when i rooted the phone )
I made a backup before i flashed , but the problem i cant flash it to a device that wont go to bootloader or recovery
and wont be detected by ADB.
please guide this lost noob.
Hello Ultimician,
If your device cannot boot into recovery or bootloader it's a hardbrick. Flashing the wrong kernel will cause your device to hardbrick.
You probably still have a warranty, I'd go to your service provider and play dumb: "One day my phone just didn't turn on, I've tried everything even charging it."
If you know of someone that could JTAG your device you could go to them that might work, what the manufacture usually do is they replace the whole motherboard. ( What Samsung did when I bricked my device in any case.. )
Otherwise you could refer to these threads, be careful though they are not necessarily for your device. ( But they might be of help )

thanksfor the swift assistance
thank you kindly

i will take my chances
Carefully when they send a device back to the maker they can often pull information.like last install and all of that. If you had a back up. I would try to flash the stock firmware. They are ways to do this with jig and other tools. I would try to flash stock every way I could before I take it back. I had s3 and bricked it long time ago.after many hours of reading I fixed it. Please always when flashing make sure it's for your device. Wish you luck2

[Q]How do i unbrick my Alcatel one touch?

Hi everyone!
I've been lurking around forum ever since I had my xperia x1, but i registered recently idk why really...
I need your help. I bricked my Alcatel Pop D5. It's MT6582 based phone. Its not hard bricked, I have CWM(doesent work as it should)
There's a huge line across the screen, and I wasn't able to push system, restore backup nor flash recovery from bootloader.
The only approach I can use is either ADB through CWM recovery, or fastboot. I can't keep my phone in preloading mode. I tried all button combinations, and it simply doesn't work. I can use social engineering at my providers to get this fixed, but I don't want their crappy rom. It's what got me p**sed off in the first place.
Thanks!
If it is possible, turn on adb from CWM, then install Onetouch companion on your pc and follow the instruction for flashing a stock rom, latter install your custom rom again...

[Completed] Hard Bricked in a peculiar manner

Hi xda,
So I had a soft bricked Micromax Canvas a290 which boot looped and couldnt access recovery. I flashed it with a stock ROM. Now the phone is hard bricked, and I'm thinking probably because the rom I downloaded had issues. I looked up another stock rom from xdafirmware, and am trying to follow a tutorial on youtube on flashing a hard bricked device.
The issue I have here is this:
The tutorial says the phone is supposed to connect and disconnect every 7-8 seconds (evident by the sound windows makes when usb device is connected and disconnected).
The thing is, when I connect my device windows makes the connected sound, but the device doesnt disonnect. SP flash tool cant flash my phone. I have tried any and every button combination, but they dont seem to help.
I am an tech enthusiast myself, and I have flashed a lot of mtk soft bricked devices before, but I am totally stumped here.
Can anyone help?? Any ideas whats happening? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Greetings and welcome to assist. I can find very little information for your device apart from this thread which may help, can you connect to the device just using fastboot ?
