[Q] Haipai i9389 (MTK6589) Recovery? - General Questions and Answers

Hi guys, I bought the above phone off Amazon. I found out this very strange device also had a root-enabled kernel out of the box, but my question is about recovery. I want to install CWM as a first choice, if not that, TWRP, but a Google search only tuns up loose references to MTK6589 which is presumably the SoC, but nothing for my specific model. Currently when I reboot to recovery with any root app it shows 'no command' (maybe there is no recovery installed to the recovery partition?) and when entering bootloader mode the device displays what is seen in the attached photo.
I would appreciate any help on getting a working recovery set up on this device.
Thanks!

Hi, I also have one of these phones and have been looking at recovery options with little success.
However I have found a set of instructions in the XDA University about porting CWM. (unfortunalty I can't post a link due to being a Noob, but if you Google 'porting cwm' it should be the top result).
I am going to be attempting to do this once I have got my PC set up dual boot for Linux.
Will post back with news on how it's going. Would appreciate any progress you have made about a recovery option.
Regards
Mad.

first, make a backup of your device using mtk droid tools.
if phone isn`t rooted yet, use this tutorial:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2332783
for the recovery, you need to unpack your recovery.img, take the kernel zImage and put it in the cwm-recovery. for mt6589 phones, this one should work: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2357875
you can unpack/repack your boot.img with this tools:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1587411
after obtaining new recovery.img, flash it through SP flash tool or mobileuncle tools.

Recovery Quirk
Chrizzly, thanks for the pointers, will be checking out the tools tonight.
Found a quirk though, may just be my phone.
I booted into recovery last night and as expected the "no commands" came up, but then I took the back off the phone and a recovery menu appeared. Had options in there like reboot, delete cache, delete delvik cache....
I'm assuming this is the stock recovery.
I tested it again this morning and booting into recovery and then taking the back off the phone made the menu appear!!
Any one else care to test and see if it's a stock thing or just a quirk of my phone.

replied before, my post disappeared.. this isn`t related to your device , this is recovery-typical. it is showing the android first, without a menu. you need to press hardware buttons, to get into the menu( this is device-specific, you need to try that, also buttons on the touch screen, if there are some) this will usually bring you in recovery MENU. think you accidently pressed one of these buttons while opening the device.

Re: Files. Thanks for the files, going to try them out as soon as I can!!

Done
I have got CWM working on my i9389 now, there was a few quirks in getting it going.
The method I used was as posted in the MTK Droid Root & Tools thread by rua1.
TIPS
Leave the battery out when doing read back or flash in Flash Tools.
Not mentioned in the instruction is the MTK vcom drivers which you will need and can be found in the Root tutorial posted by Chrizzly a bit further up.
Make sure you read the instructions by rua1 closely and use the images posted as it's not always straight forward.
Last tip pay attention to where MTK tools puts the files it creates, had me stumped for a bit!! I've never been very good at following instructions!!

I managed to boot loop mine while messing with a ROM I made (it's not finished yet) but managed to recover by re-flashing using the Flash Tools a back up I had taken just after installing CWM.
Do you have a back up you can flash?
I have just checked mine and even zipped it's still 800MB so I can't email it to you...
...sure if I looked about I could find somewhere to upload it to for you. PM me if you need this!!

The sd holder broke off, can i buy this http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-list...w?ie=UTF8&condition=new&qid=1379198350&sr=8-1 the galaxy s3 i9300 sd card slot holder and put it on my haipai i9389? or do i need specific haipai i9389 sd card slot holder.

try version 3 first the universal one. then you can play with the others by updating through stock recovery. i bet you have a dual core one. press vol down , ok and power button at the same time on boot and go to version. if it says MAUI on the list then we have the same clone

Try to read the chinacarts website because you download the one for quadcore micro_sim_s3_quadcore_dualcore_firmware_20130107 the link i provided you is the the one that worked for me.

i also have issue with my s3 clone mtk6577... its no longer turning on after trying to odex it.. tried to flash the firmware and thats when the phone no longer turning on.. please help me.. im trying to flash it again using the flash tool but stuck in 0% what do i need to do?
I have the same problem. S3 micro sim clone MTK6589, new firmware tried (chinaecarts.com/s3firmware20130320.rar ), then the phone not booting.
I just contacted with Chinaecarts.com, they tried to solve the problem but not working.
Also tried with the universal firmware, but it sad I've MTK6577 phone, not MTK6575.
If I will have fresh news, will post it.
(seller said, I should send the phone back, and they will fix it.)
I tried with this:
H.tps://docs.google.com/open?id=0B4AdByfaH4T0TjVjc2w0OXVqQUE
It is theoretically for the MTK6577 and MTK6589 as well. Got the previous result: "Platform error. The target platform is MT6577_S00."
I think there is a solution for the blank screen problem:
- need a Flash Tool. (on the link above you can find it, or on the link in my previous post)
- need a firmware for MTK6577 micro sim card.
I tried with many sdcard firmware versions, but no effective result.
Hi,
1, You need to know what is exact model of your s3 mtk6577. There are many s3 mtk6577 models in the market. Different s3 mtk6577 is made by different manufacturer, so the ROM is definitely different.
2. After you get the right ROM, then flash your phone by using flash tool SPMultiPortFlashDownloadProject
Bricked MTK6577
The image of the S3-micro-sim-version-20121210 this with corronpidos files, and the method that you should have done to retrieve your appliance was using the recover instead of SP tools because the files are not in rar. SP standard my phone so can enter META mode and nothing more.

It looks I have the exact model of yours. I am trying to update the firmware by entering the recovery (I suppose it is {vol up + power}). But my external sdcard is not mounted to pick the rom from.
I hope this may help you? I had the same problems as you with the same phone after rooting it I deleted the original rom as it went into a loop and would not start so I started installing every firmware I can find and install, I got one which works BUT! no English , it boots English then goes into several languages but not English it is HDCI9300 rom. I googled it as no one seems able or do not want to help although I have asked several times in many different ways. I hope this will get your phone at least to boot up, I used sp flash as this rom will not let you do anything with the sd card (if it does you need to translate one of the languages)? I hope this helps, if not you have lost nothing:fingers-crossed:
Hello. I have a similar problem with yours. A friend of mine has a 100% visual clone (MTK6577) with the same sticker under the battery like in the first post, he tried to flash it, but he messed up something, and then he brought it to me completely DEAD . No charging, no PC connection - nothing... I tried many button combos, and accidentally i found out that if i connect the phone without battery, press and hold VOL+, VOL- & POWER for a few seconds, the PC detected the mediatek com port , installed the drivers without problem, and now the real problems begins - the ROM. I tried all of the roms from chinaecarts but without success, first i couldn't flash the thing, and after downloading several roms from chinaecarts, and finally flashed it and guess what - no LCD :silly: . So i tried combining different files from different roms, and now i'm at a point where i can turn on the phone, screen goes white, but the phone boots, it makes the vibration after the boot process completes, and after that the phone is responding to touches (it vibrates), lock/unlock works, PC detects USB Mass Storage Device, USB Composite Device and MTK65xx Android Phone. I also noticed that in the FW packages i downloaded there are some files that aren't flashed (i think) like for example the kernel.img so i was wondering if i can flash it manually? Please someone help, share some FW links, i can't find anymore...
can anyone help with this?? or even identify which s3 clone the phone is from the first post... i have tried many "solutions" for clone 6577 and NONE works.. I have scoured the internet for possible solutions and nothing..
help please!

[Q] Help, with boot loop

Hi everyone!
I need, please help with a Chinese phone I just bought.
Some information about the phone:
MC603CH, board cellonsz73_gb, MT6573 ARMv6 797.90mhz, MC7305.zheng.V1.en display, brand Yusu, total 214 Mb RAM, 130 Mb internal space, external 3.7 Gb, Imagination Technologies GPU, OpenGL ES 2.0, currently running Android 2.3. 5 Kernel 2.6.35.7.
In Windows 8 on Mac and was recognized as HTC (Windows as My HTC). Turns out I can not stand just looking for that kind of device without having the urge to start moving in everything and in every way (especially since it's my first Android). I did root, installed a bunch of app to change the system and found a script that makes the Apps recognize a partition EXT4 like to have more internal space to install applications. The last two things I did while he was connected were able to install BusyBox to make the system recognize the init.de folder so I can run scripts in the beginning of the section and, silly me, make a run in the script.
He was pretty one, running everything is fast with the ROM that was running, which it came (modified to look like iOS), but after running the script, it restarted and went into boot loop. Then I try to recover the poor, and went hunting for information ... flash rom did (I was afraid to try installing and kill him at once), then I found a video that said I could try clearing the cache, I tried, I removed the USB cable from the computer to wait for the battery dies (it does not restart the button is in loop) and nothing.
I found another video that told me to go back to factory settings purchases that could go right.
The problem is I can not get into recovery mode by buttons (already tried all possible combinations and does not enter the recovery). I managed, after Google searches, and find the adb installed, managed to make it into the recovery by adb! Then I thought I could do everything that was needed to revive the pet. I fell to the tale of the factory settings, and I gave myself badly. Now the adb condegue not recognize the phone, I believe it is because he is no longer on usb debuging (factory settings), so now I'm here at all in the stirring cell, trying to find a way to disconnect the battery and do not think (believe only a technician can or someone with technical knowledge) so I can try some procedures using software I found (SP flash tools, tools mtkdroid, Android AIO flasher, etc.). To get drivers that worked in Portcom has been very difficult, I tried several until you find what the Windows install left. Well, it's more or less what is happening to me. I hope you can find someone to help me on this, because, as I said, it's my first android and I can not buy another one for a long time (I have a wife and four children, i can not spend too much ) and it cost me R$ 590.00 (Brazil) and not just pay. If anyone can help me, I am very grateful.
God bless you. Sorry for english from Google Translator.
Hej,
If you just can get into the recovery you could flash any rom made for your phone, just get the zip on your SD card and install through recovery.
Try to get into recovery through fastboot if your phone is supported and next time you root your android just do a nandroid backup.

Hi Dr.Banane! Thanks for responding!
The point is that I can not go into recovery mode at all the buttons on this phone.
The only ways in which I saw the screen of recovery mode this cell were: 1 by 2 by adb root manager when
I was with usb debugging enabled. I need to figure out exactly how to enter the recovery mode, because I think it
I will be able to access adb again and be able to delete the folder init.d script or do some flash ROM.
By the way, does the ROM Sophone MT6575 will work on it or kill it once?
Thank you. God bless you.

Need help with QMobile Noir A11 firmware!

Assalam o Aleikum,
This is Raees Iqbal, from Pakistan. Actually I'm in a really big problem with my dad's QMobile Noir A11, also I could find this device in the device directory, so, I'm posting this thread here. Moderators can please sort it correctly. So! I'm totally noob to all of it.
What is the Problem:
I have a QMobile Noir A11 that was rooted today by my little brother (in my absence) and my father tired to uninstall root apps (even dialer, music, and etc.) to replace them with new ones. But this didn't work and every thing went down. Now as most of the core files have been deleted, the device is showing this error. "Unfortunately, the process android.process.core has stopped." when I tap okay, it goes off, and the application like Dialer aren't working. What I have tried so far:
I searched a lot about QMobile Noir A11 for the firmware update, so, I could install it. But could find one, Instead I found QMobile Noir A10's firmware update. So, I tried to install this, considering that this little difference wont be any problem, or maybe they have the same Firmware. But when I tried to make an update, It said that there's a kind of Signature Error. I went on Google and re-read all of the tutorials. All of them were suggesting to use "CWM Recovery to preform an update". So, I tried to update the Recovery Image to CWM Recovery with MobileUncle Tools (as they said). But when It rebooted in Recovery mode, there was all White Blank Screen. Now, as this Recovery Image did not work, so, I downloaded the Default Recovery Image, (provided by all tutorials) and tried to revert to it. But now, when it boots to Recovery Mode, the phone just shuts down. If I try to boot normally, it works but the problem is not fixed. What is that I want to be helped on:
I want someone to give me a link to where I can download, off-course Recovery Image that will work with Noir A11, and then any basic or updated firmware that I can install on this device. Thanks for reading this long. I will really appreciate any kind of help you could do.
qmobile a7 does not boot into recovery
dear brother this is exactly the same problem with my qmobile noir A7, with an exception that i could not be able to root it before i installed custom recovery through sp flash tools.
kindly let me know (if you get it) when u get the stock recovery image for your phone.
and also if u can help me in rooting A7. i have already tried most of the methods including that given by bin4ry.
regards
hafeez

BRo For Qmobile Noir A11 Root Unbrick REcovery follow the tutorial http://www.pakleets.net/Thread-QMobile-Noir-A11-Root-CWM-TWRP-Recovery-Unbrick-And-Stock-Rom?pid=453

Mediatek GT-I9190(S4 MINI ) , MTK6572 bricked!

I am sorry if this is the wrong group for this topic to discuss, I created the account for this specific problem I am having. If am wrong then please do guide me in the right direction.
So, I have a S4 mini Clone from mediatek first of all I am confused about the model. When I used the system info app it said hardware - 6572 and something else was there it said 6589_wet so what is the correct number to follow.
Now, the problem is that I rooted that device using MTKDroid and I guess I didnt chosed a right option for recovery. One day after rooting I restarted the device and it fell into bootloop then I went for recovery menu and tried to wipe partition cache and even wipe user data. It didn't work. Then, I copied the recovery backup file from my computer (which MTKDroid creates) to microSD card and tried to recover from sdcard. Even that didnt work, then I used another method which involves formatting using SPflash, even that didnt work I guess the scatter file was corrputed because SPflash sent an error message saying " the load and target are inconsistent " and the bar turned red.
Anyone with same problem got solved or anybody having any solution or even the correct rom for my device, I'd appreciate the help.
Kingtopkt072 ROM needed
Hi
Thanks for the great job done on your website.
My KingtopKt072 MT6572 is bricked, and I’ve been unsuccesfully looking for it all over Internet. Can someone please save my phone by sending me a link to download and recover my device? It’s got 512 RAM and it’s dual sim.
Thank you.

Hey abhinavnain, did you find an answer to your question?

Help, I hard bricked my Lenovo A806!

Hello, I did something very stupid, trying to change the ROM. (The Chinese system VIBE UI puts its own bootloader / recovery sequence, that prevents you to load another one from SD card.)
The phone is Lenovo A806 and is viewed by USB as MT6592.
Using Smart Phone Flash Tool and various tutorials, I attempt it to flash a new recovery, but stupidly, chose format and download. This probably wiped everything in the boot sector, because the phone is totally dead: does not start or even light when connected to the charger.
I figured there should be a way to flash back the informations wiped, but the trouble is I don't know where to find the files used to boot. The scatter.txt file found had only indication to the recovery.img file, which I could download from a tutorial.
Some other files, I could find in the zip of what looks like the original ROM, VIBE UI 2.0. So I took them out of the zip and pointed the scatter.txt to their location. So I have covered uboot.img, boot.img, logo.img
I would desperately need the rest of the files, especially: MBR, EBR1, ANDROID
Anyone has any idea where can I download them from? The first two should be some simple text files with lots of numbers in them, the third one, I don't know. But no ROM seems to contain them.
The main folder of the zipped ROM contained also files like: file_contexts and type.txt - but I don't know what to do with these.
When I try to flash the files I have, I get an error with obtain DRAM fail. I tried it with or without the battery in the phone. Because I don't have all files, I can't select format or firmware upgrade.
Any chance I could find those files to try saving the phone, please?
Thank you!
Do U had solve the problem, if not just tell me.... i will give u link to download all file u need.

Hi, I've made some mistake that bricked my Lenovo A806. Now, I could finally unbrick it, but the Android OS only works when it is charging: If I unplug it, in a few seconds start to reboot indefinitely and won't overpass a blank screen with an orange chinese logo (you could find it looking for china unicom mentions in google images)
There is a way to recover the correct behaviour of the phone? Or, after bricked it, is possible that something has been broken ?
The ROM that now I'm running is this: A806_1508_ST_MULTI_DEODEX_SL
And the Tools that I've used was SP_Flash_Tool_v5.1408.00
Any help is welcome!! Thanks for all!

I'll try it, I'm downloading now.
Could be flashed with SP Flash Tool and checking all the rows in the scatter file (including preloader) ?
Thanks again!
EDIT:
I tried installing the official version, but unfortunately the problem persists. It's strange: only If I stop charging, the phone in a lapse of 5 seconds to 2 minutes, start to booting indifferently.
Someone can help me? I need my phone as soon as is possible !!
