With all the hate/love thread out there about the S4, nobody came up with real alternative about what the S4 could or should have been. I would like to know what REALISTIC spec or features the S4 could have.It would be nice to hear about realistic inovation. Are there other set of CPUs or new wifi technology or some cool obscur apps that could have been integrated here. It's time for all of you scifi fan and creative tecky to step up.(and PLEASE don't talk about the plastic as this have been covered all over).

Interesting! Do you have a Note? Are you using the S-pen a lot? Coz I will get a Note2 soon and I was wondering if it was really useful.

That's for 'Note' line. I don't think Samsung would degrade the "value proposition" of Note by including S-Pen in Galaxy S-series.
Also, it's a good business decision because it allows Samsung to have 2 distinct flagships in a year.

I am using Note2. The Spen is very useful if you do a lot of note taking.
Edit: I used to forget bringing pen with me. So spen solve my problem because there is no way I forget to bring my phone with me

The S4 is Dual-sim (need to buy a Asian version)
It'd be cool if the home button was a fingerprint scanner, or had the ability to scroll, it would be useful while typing to move the cursor
An updated design?

IMHO, the curved design of galaxy s4 is better than the sharp angular design of HTC one. It feels slightly uncomfortable in the hand thanks to the sharp edges. The plastic could be replaced with carbon fibre or less glossy plastic, though.

I asked this exact same question of a few mates of mine who were "Underwhelmed" with the stats the S4 presented....
I then asked them.... so with the CURRENT technology that is out.... what else would you have liked to have seen in this wonderful device.... and you know what they came up with??? sweet FA... because as it currently stands, the S4 has the most advanced technology out, bar a few minor differences between HTC One and Sony Xperia Z which have a few alternative features on theirs....
I think too many people have looked at the S4 then compared the LOOKS of it to the S3 and have gone.... nah, not interested.... but does the aesthetics of a phone really take away from its overall hardware on the inside? As many people have pointed out, smart people put CASES on their phones anyways.... so the looks of the phone really dont matter too much, as long as the screen is vibrant, 90% of people would probably struggle to tell what kind of phone you have anyways, with the cases attached to them all...
So to answer your question, the only thing i would have wanted to see on the S4 which it didnt have, is litterally nothing... i cant think of anything that any other device has, that the S4 should have, except maybe the waterproof function of the Sony Xperia Z... but i have had my original S2 for almost 2 years now, not a single issue or fault with it, where many of my friends have had issues with water etc, so this function wouldn't even be for me, rather to see them struggle less when it comes to damaging their phones lol

Strange that nobody mentioned the flexible glass. But how is it going to work? The glass is flexible but the case and chips inside the phone are not. So what... they will just make a curved phone? Is it really practicle?

1) Is cumbersome to carry c-pen with you. Heck, I can't even remember to carry a pen with me
2) the tip is sharp on s-pen. So you see clearly what you're writing.
Flexible glass is pointless if the case and chip are not flexible. Wait until they invented flexible case and chip first.

At work we're not allowed to have phone so the pen is just to pretend I'm working.
On a more serious note;
I would see a phone with a removable wifi scren so you can remove the flexible screen and wrap it around your wrist. The rest of the phone is in your pocket.
Notice how this thread is only 2 pages long, compared to the other troll/bait S4/HTC ONE threads all over the place. Majority of those complaining about the S4 being a S3+ seem to stumble when they are asked what they would of liked the S4 to come with, based on technology currently available to us. I'm sure a bunch of people are going to say the way it looks. Is that it........the look stops it from being an upgrade.....meh

I think Samsung would say that eye-scrolling is even better. I'm very anxious to see how it actually perform in the real world. I already use and love the Smart-stay/ S-voice activated camera/S-voice on music player (via bluetooth) and S-voice answer the phone.
Hello everyone.
My note 10.1 came with 5 replacement tips and a tip extraction tool. My note 8.0 came with none of these and, in fact, I am not sure that its S-pen tip can be replaced at all.
So, my questions are:
1) Will the note 8.0 s-pen tip wear as fast as the note 10.1 one did?
2) Can the note 8.0 S-pen tip be replaced?
3) Where can I find spare tips?
Thanks in advance
Sent from my GT-N5100 using Tapatalk
can't replace the nibs on the 8. you can buy an better pen though or use the pen from the gn10.1.

Yeah, noticed that with my new Note 8...silly of Samsung not to have a pen with replaceable tips. Unless they think the tip is everlasting!
the note phones are the same way. seems anything under 10.1" gets the non-replaceable nibs.
Hope s-pen is easyly replaceable, trying to get me another that is exactly for note 8.0 and fits. My s-pen tip is already showing signs of overuse.
Sent from my GT-N5100 using Tapatalk
i think you can get them for $20 from amazon.
Thanks everyone for the quick replies.
In fact, my Note 10.1 s-pen came with 2 types of nib: a soft one, which is excellent for hand writing and provides me with a great paper like feeling (but wears out quite fast) and a hard one, which is not so good but should last longer.
It is sad to know that with Note 8.0 I don't have such choice.
I know that I can still buy a spare stylus, and even a better one compared to the one that came in the box, but in that case I loose the obvious benefits of s-pen integration with system.
Sent from my GT-N5100 using Tapatalk
i'd supposed if you're skilled and brave enough you could buy 2 spare pens and swap the insides of the gn10.1 pen with the gn8. you might be able to find older gn10.1 pens cheaper since that model's been replaced.
This looks like what we need. Brown as I didn't want white for my brown GN8. I just ordered two. With shipping $18.
Use CELL6 for discount.
The tips on my Note 3 are replacable and it came with replacemebts and the tool.
The strange thing is mt Note 3 pen won't work on my Note 8, very strange as the Note 8 pen will work onthe N3

Can anyone confirm if note 4 and note edge use the same battery. If different then what are the battery model numbers.
Just asking to know if we have had the option of using note 4 extended batteries with note edge, guess there is no aftermarket oem who is making extended battery specifically for edge.
Thanks

Yes, the battery are different also in the format .

Yes thats what im saying. Unless the sprint note 4 has a different battery than the other variants. It fit perfectly in my phone.
Will that Mugen battery work with the Samsung flip case? I ask because they include a battery cover with it, which looks deeper than stock.
Note 4 (N910C) Battery is a bit longer than Edge (N915F) Battery. No, It doesn't fit inside the Edge either.
Have you tried it?

So the Mugen is considered as replacement battery with direct plug in? Does it require the ugly cover included? 6000Mah is quite interesting for an investment.

Is it the length, the width, or the thickness that differ. I have the note 4 duos hk model sm-n9100 which uses 3000Maj battery. The 3220mah battery for the sm-n910 models is to wide.
so i think the Edge 6 plus in gold just look phenomenal. it looks like the note 5 kind of comes in a goldish color.
how does it look? is the S pen worth it to get over the edge 6+? i know that's the only difference in phones and that it weights a little more. can u tell with the weight?
any other reasons i should pick the note 5 over the 6+?
thank u!!!!

This is something only you can answer because it's all personal preferences. I myself do not like curved screens so any edge variant is out of the question for me. As for the S pen it all depends if you will use it or not. I could live without it but it's there if I do need it. My main reason for purchasing the Note 5 was the screen size and camera.
I went and got the note 5. Coming from a note 3 for over 2 years, it was rooted, recovery and with roms. I was able to live without all that now, for a nice screen, camera and no sd card/removable battery. I like my note 5 but your wants and needs are different than mine. Best of luck and get the phone that you like
The Note 5 and Edge plus are the exact same phone minus the spen. I know a lot of people over the years said the pen is "nice to have" but have not even used it once. I personally use it to sign documents and take quick notes of things I don't want to forget. Apart from that I don't have much use for it myself. Only you know if you are ever going to use the pen or not. If it's not needed, I'd definitely stick with the Edge plus. Not only is it lighter, sleaker, and curved, but it's also got one less piece for you to worry about getting lost/broken/stolen/poke somebody's eye out/etc.

I was in the same boat. Two things turned me to the Note 5 over the S6 Edge+:
1) I actually use the s pen a lot while internet browsing because a lot of the sites I visit use mouse-over to navigate, also signing docs and occasional photo editing
2) The case I would probably be using will cover up the beautiful edge+ anyways
I hate the edge variants. Pointless just for looks imo. I heard the s7 going edge so my next phone will not be the s7.

I agree, if you wanted to buy the best android phone on the market now, than it's the note 5. We'll tell the note 6 comes out next year
You just have to figure out what meets your needs and the functionality that best fits you. I use my Note 5 for business because I coach basketball. I can take notes, draw up opponents plays, and record them without bringing multiple devices.

Might not be the best place to post but if anyone knows about all the spen in the world it might be you guys.
The question is which spen has the plastic tip?
Long story version is:
I like to draw digitally, hence I got a samsung galaxy note and later switched to a lenovo yoga 12.2 inch for drawing.
I used to use my original samsung galaxy note 10.1 spen for my lenovo yoga laptop because their stylus just sucked. After that one got lost, I have decided to buy a galaxy note 4's stylus to use with my lenovo yoga, the accuracy was good but a bit draggy.
And that one got lost..(i know)
So I took a chance and bought a fujiutsi lifebook stylus, which was smooth...but the accuracy was off, the cursor followed underneath the stylus and I just couldnt calibrate the thing to work.
So I went back to buying a galaxy note 4 spen which i got for a bit cheaper. the accuracy was great, the pressure senestivity was harder but I managed to fix it. It was then I noticed that the thing was draggy because it had a rubber tip.
...I fiddled with the rubber tip...and It came off...I cant superglue it back..I also noticed without the rubber tip the accuracy is a bit off.
So before I go and buy the same thing..I was wondering if I should buy an spen with plastic tip. I looked around the XDA threads and it seems that samsung provides different tips for their galaxy note 3 users(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2478825). I don't think I should buy the tips separately not knowing which one is plastic or rubbery. I think I can get the spen 2(with the thought that spen 2 has a plastic nib) in the same price as the set of spen 3 nibs. But I am not sure if they are gonna have the same accuracy without that rubber tip...or if spen 2 does have a plastic nib.
Or maybe I should just buy a bamboo feel (though that needs battery)
So..help?
Spen which comes with note 3 and note 4 comes with various replaceable tips and it has plastic tips too.
Cant say about note 5 as i dont own it.
But spen with note 3 and note 4 having plastic tip is confirmed.
I'm surprised that the S-Pen actually works on a non Note device! As from what I have heard Samsung's S-Pen uses electromagnetic technology to interact with the screen on Note devices.

Exactly! I've watched a teardown video of the S-Pen, which also explains how the S-Pen functions on the screen. Which uses a electromagnetic grid underneath or in the screen to pinpoint the position of the S-Pen when it's in use. This technology is different from the technology used in traditional capacitive touchscreens.

From where I have ordered they only seem to give me one spen with no extra tips, and the one I got had that stupid rubber tip, which was really draggy...which is why I got myself a nexus instead of a the latest galaxy note..plus that galaxy note was pricey...And I already have a galaxy note 10.1.

So in order to save ur own time and money, cancel the order and buy note 3 or or later device's spen.
