[MOD] WhatsApp plus installation fix [Android] - Android General

Hi!!
This is my little trick for those who are facing verification problem during installation of latest version of WhatsApp plus...
If you are tired of facing the same and same problem while installing whatsApp plus then this will definitely work for you...
Requirements
1.) Your phone must be rooted
2.) Titanium backup required ( if you don't have titanium backup then install it from playstore )
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1.) First you must have latest apk of whatsApp plus or if u don't have then download it, but dont install it..
2.) Intall titanium backup from playstore.. (if you already have it then skip this step)
3.) Download WhatsApp from playstore and install it ( IMPORTANT download whatsApp not whatsApp PLUS )
4.) After installation of whats app , normally add your mobile number with whats app and send 2 or 3 messages to your any friend. (motive is that you must have 1 or 2 chats in whats app )
5.) Now come back to your home screen and open TITANIUM BACKUP.
6.) In TITANIUM backup you first have to Backup your whats app, after backup of your whats app is completed...then come back to your homescreen..
7.) Now uninstall the whatsApp ( yep uninstall it)
8.) Now install the latest apk of WHATS APP PLUS (that you downloaded in First step)
9.) Now open TITANIUM BACKUP and check your backups and you will see that in place of whats app it is showing WHATSAPP PLUS icon with Blue color.....(dont panic)
10.) Click upon whatsApp plus icon
Then restore and then select DATA ONLY (Don't select Apk only or Apk + data)(See screenshots below )
11.) After restore is completed , now come back to home screen and Now open whatsApp plus and you will see Your messages..
Done
If you have any PROBLEMS while installation then leave a message below ,i'll definately sort it out
IF this WoRkS FoR YOu ,Then Plzzz HIT THANKS

mine keeps crashing when I go to load wa plus after following instructions... my problem is i cant txt or call verification so i cant use whatsapp plus

First completely uninstall bhoot whatsapp and whatsapp plus if u r having in ur device..
Then download whatsapp from playstore and add ur number in whatsapp and done verification after that take a backup with titanium backup..
And now uninstall whatsapp and install whatsapp plus...
Now do not add ur number by text or call..
Directly go to titanium backup and in backups.. Select whatsapp plus and restore only data....
(install latest version of what'sapp plus)
Hope this will help...

Installing WhatsApp on Tablet Plus (WIFI only)

Hi, people!
I saw this post by cedricl on the Tablet S forum and worked for me. Maybe anyone of you must be trying to do the same, so I've decided to share this solution for you
How to install Phone-only apps (Like WhatsApp or Viber) on a WIFI-only Tablet?
- root your phone
- install whatsapp on your phone
- install TitaniumBackup on your phone
- with TitaniumBackup make a backup of whatsapp
- open file manager on your phone and look for TitaniumBackup folder
- take the 3 files with the whatsapp name in them and move these to your tablet s
- root your tablet
- install TitaniumBackup on your tablet
- open TitaniumBackup on your tablet
- in file manager go to TitaniumBackup folder
- move the 3 whatsapp files taken from the phone and place them in the TB folder
- open TitaniumBackup and "restore" your whatsapp*
*OBS.: First you must restore the app only, so it'll be installed on the system. Then you must restore the DATA. The data is the most important thing, because it'll reconfigure your WhatsApp the same way that it is on the phone. If you restore everything together, it'll not work.

Easier steps(the phone must be rooted):
-install whatsapp on phone.
-go to /data/app and copy the apk with whatsapp icon and transfer it to the tab.
- Install it.

Whatsapp uses a telephone number as userid/login credentials. Unfortunate. You will need to create an account using a phone first for it to work.
Hello, I have an HTC Flyer and what works for me when it comes to installing 'non-tablet' apps like whatsapp I simply search the apk of the application using Google and just run the apk file. Hope this helps

Please instruct me where should I paste those three files. I really don't know
I've already installed TB and Whatsapp
para poder postar \o/
by installing the apk on the tab, will that log me out of whatsapp on my phone? or can I use both simultaneously, ie - use whatsapp while on the bus on my way home from work, then get home and use my tab to continue the conversation?

It will log you out, it tells you that one phone number can be used only in one app. I had to use my work phones number on tablet. If there is another workaround, I would like to know it too.

you should make an backup of WhatsApp on your Android Smartphone. It'll generate 3 files on your phone's sdcard. Get'em and copy to your tablet's sdcard. Then do these steps.
Everything is explained on my first post.
PS.: Some are saying that it'll stop it from working on the other device. Maybe you are right. But when I made this post I could use freely in both device's at the same time. The only issue was that when I was chatting over the tablet, for example, the phone wasn't receiving any messages.

whatsapp

how to install WhatsApp not having a smartphone but just a simple phone? (tab android 4.0.4)
Didn't whatsapp require to send itself a confirmation SMS? If so, it would be hard to configure it on a tablet that can't receive text messages. Although, I remember there was an unofficial web version of whatsapp... no idea how did you activate that, though.
You could activate using another number / phone, and just type the activation code back onto the Tab.
Yes. It's possible for you to install WhatsApp on non 3G devices. As example of P3110.
I've done once and it worked! I'm using Appguard + Bluestacks (for the confirmation number).

Yes this is possible i did it the other day on GT-P5110 wifi (you will need root and a smartphone )
1. install whatsapp on your phone
2. using titainium backup make a backup (3 files will be made)
3. move these 3 files to your tablet
4. restore the app from backup using titainium backup
5. start the app (it fails)
6. restore data from titainium backup
7. start the app now it works.
i hope this helps

Error while restoring whatsapp messages.

I am usingSamsung Galaxy Y pro Duos. GT 5512.
To install Whatsapp+ I had to uninstall whatsapp. I am not able to install Whatsapp+ (and Yes I am installing GB variant of Whatsapp+). It shows "Application not installed".
Now when I have installed original Whatsapp. I am asked to restore from the backup. When I tap on restore, it Crashes at 84% and shows a error. I don't want to lose the backup.
PS1: I have managed to solve the crashing problem' see the solution in the posts down.
PS2: I am still unable to get Whatsapp+ installed. It says "Application not Installed. Can anybody help in this regard?
It's advised to restore to the same backed-up version of Whatsapp

Try to uninstall Whatsapp & install once again, or if you prefer to check older versions: http://whatsapp-messenger.en.uptodown.com/android/old
It it doesn't help- leave only the latest backup file + 'msgstire.db.crypt' in the 'Database' folder of whatsapp. Other option is to check if you got
several whatsapp folders stored in device's external/internal storage, and leaving the newest one

Hi,
This issue is interesting and I have been looking for options, so you can solve your problem. If the problem is the version, as sasan_blue says, you can go to the Aptoide web, and search the old versions of whatsapp there. I was able of download different versions of whatsapp on my PC from that web.
I can't paste urls...
EDITED: Sorry, I was writing this thread while amirTor gives his answer. The English is not my language mother and take long to write. I think is best the amirTor solution.
Saludos
Thanks Guys. I got it solved by completely uninstalling whatsapp using Titanium backup app, and installing it again. It was a problem of incomplete uninstallation. (I had rebooted the device before the uninstall process finished). The problem persisted because I have been uninstalling using regular method. Also it was not a problem of a corrupted backup in my case( as I had thought).
PS. I had installed an older version too. It asked me to check my date settings. it didn't peroceed any further. I guess it was becoz of the outdated version.
HI, i have installed and rstored whatsapp a million times or so, when flashing and switching between roms. last night i tried something funny, and it cost me tooo much.
I tried to install whatsapp for another number(my phone is dual sim), while sms verification was happening, it got registered via my previously registered whatsapp no. Now even after i deleted the new no. account,i am still not able to get my old account back. when i give my old number, it doesn ask for sms verification, and goes to local backup directly, but fails there and throws error. on the other hand, i can verify the account, but cannot restore all my messages.
Please help, as my msgs are quite important..!
il hit the thanks button..!

You can solve this problem by registering your new number again and restoring your old number's chats.
Once you are able to restore your old number's chat by registering on the new number. You can now change the number officially by using the 'change number' feature in the WA settings.
See if this trick works for you.
Good luck.

Hey thanks for the response,
Things arent way the its supposed to...even if im trying to sign up using another account, still the verification is not being done and whern restoring is trying to happen, it force closes or shows a message that it cannot restore msgs in the server
if u know any solution please let me know, its pretty annoying without whatsapp for a week and i need those old messages..its pretty important.
I have done flashing roms a 100 times and never faced this issues, and now it aint going at all..
Ok. copy the backup database some where safe.
Delete your new number account ( from within the WA account settings)
Remove the WA using titanium backup. (you need to be rooted for TB to work)
Reinstall the WA.
See if you are able to register your new number.
Use WhatsApp recovery app to restore you account information, the tool is available free of cost.
If no chats are being restored while reinstalling Whatsapp and you want to restore from a local backup... Try to uninstall and reinstall Whatapp and simply take a local backup of the empty chats and copy the entire filename (Ex: msgstore.db.crypt12) and delete this backup file.. Now paste the backup file from where you want to restore the chats in the Whatsapp databases folder and rename it with the name that was copied from latest backup file (msgstore.db.crypt12).
Clear WhatsApp data (from Settings -> Apps-> WhatsApp-> Clear Data). When you launch Whatsapp now, it will prompt again for the verification details etc. Skip the google drive step and Whatsapp will restore all your chats from your desired local backup. But please make sure you have lot of free space on your device. I cleared about 3gb of data from device memory in order to get this working.
It worked for me when I finally was about to give up after trying for 3 days..

Hello, i'm having exactly the same problem in the same place (84%), I have not rooted my phone what makes impossible the solution with titanium. Any Ideas?
The backup folder has a lot of directories, should i delete some of them?
app_download_internal
app_minidumps
app_textures
app_webview
cache
code_cache
databases
files
lib
no_backup
shaders
shared_prefs
is there any log to check the error messages?
thank you.
Nelson
PS1. Erasing some directories, now i can get the 97%
unable to restore whatsapp messages
i switched to a new phone. I copied whatsapp folders- Databasse and media to the laptop. The database file has correct name as suggested by whatsapp faq- msgstore.db.crypt and it is version 12 only. But when i install whatsapp it does not take that local backup and asks to check google drive. I don't have backu on google drive. Later i tried new idea- I disconnected internet after verifification of mobile number and yes so it prompted - >backup found- Restore> i tapped restore, but still my chats didn't backedup, the restore processing also did not took lace, i turned on internet after tapping restore. what's the matter? please help. I have some really important stuff. You all are tech enthusiast here. i hope you can help me in this minor problem. I have local Backup, i have mobile, i have aplication. What else is needed??

[Q] Flashing Same Rom without losing data

I have already Searched this but dint get satisfied answers....
I am Using Sense5 Rom(EXDERIOD) and installed about 30 apps and has System Data i.e contacts n msgs ,fnds stream and calendar sync..
Here is the Problem..Now it's not working properly(All my apps are force closing and Not letting me to install new apps Especially WATSPP IS FORCE CLOSING showing error "UNABLE TO OPEN MESSAGE HISTORY") after i tried some mods n flashed some extra stuff...
So I want to flash the SAME ROM again but without losing DATA sply System data... I know I can use Titanium for apps+data and MyBackUp Pro for CONTACTS & MSGS ...I used to do that whenever I Flash a New ROM ..
But Main Prob is ...CONTACTS (I Know GOOGLE give Backup but I linked all the contacts with fb and watsapp..and put images as caller IDs so if I get a Backup from GooGle or anyother app it gives only contacts and i have to linkup and do setup everything again)
I flashed only boot.img with fastboot lost all the data and also flashed ROM again giving bootloops and sometimes lost the data..
So any suggestions ??? or any Ideas???:silly:

Special whatsupp crash

Hi!
I have very interesting issue.
Yesterday, when I start my app (whatsapp), app crash, arround around aroud...
So i did make backup whatsapp folder by explorer to my PC (on googledrive i have backup too)
So i did factory reset on my smartphone and instal new app.
App installed, restored data from google drive and..... CRASH
2. experiment was uinstall app, delete backup on google drive, copy backup from computer to sdcard/whatsupp/databasses (with rename etc... by whatsupp web tutorial) and.... CRASH
3. experiment was only install app without restored backup and.... everything OK. Probably my backup was broken?, but app say "restored ok"
4. experiment another backup ... CRASH...
So and now some special.....
Iam using app Novalauncher. When i did make factory reset, install NOVA and use backup settings of this app. In this settings I have some shortcust for contact of whatsapp on my "desktop"
When i install whatsapp, run, restore (from googledrive or sdcard) - app crash, BUT!!!, when i tap on my shortcust of my contact, whatsupp start normaly, history, media is OK, BUT!!!, when i tap back (to see list of contact) app crash..
Summary whatsupp work ok, but screen with my contact made crash app.
Do you have any solution?
My smart is Xperia Z5 compact with last stock rom 7.1.1 from sony mobile.
I dont have a root acces for another experiment, as same alternative app for backup whatsupp and restore. And time-limit for connection is very frustration ))
Thank for reply and have a nice day
sorry for my english
