how to install WhatsApp not having a smartphone but just a simple phone? (tab android 4.0.4)

Didn't whatsapp require to send itself a confirmation SMS? If so, it would be hard to configure it on a tablet that can't receive text messages. Although, I remember there was an unofficial web version of whatsapp... no idea how did you activate that, though.

You could activate using another number / phone, and just type the activation code back onto the Tab.

Yes. It's possible for you to install WhatsApp on non 3G devices. As example of P3110.
I've done once and it worked! I'm using Appguard + Bluestacks (for the confirmation number).

my device is 3110 only wifi....no possibile??

1. install whatsapp on your phone
2. using titainium backup make a backup (3 files will be made)
3. move these 3 files to your tablet
4. restore the app from backup using titainium backup
5. start the app (it fails)
6. restore data from titainium backup
7. start the app now it works.
i hope this helps

Installing WhatsApp on Tablet Plus (WIFI only)

Hi, people!
I saw this post by cedricl on the Tablet S forum and worked for me. Maybe anyone of you must be trying to do the same, so I've decided to share this solution for you
How to install Phone-only apps (Like WhatsApp or Viber) on a WIFI-only Tablet?
- root your phone
- install whatsapp on your phone
- install TitaniumBackup on your phone
- with TitaniumBackup make a backup of whatsapp
- open file manager on your phone and look for TitaniumBackup folder
- take the 3 files with the whatsapp name in them and move these to your tablet s
- root your tablet
- install TitaniumBackup on your tablet
- open TitaniumBackup on your tablet
- in file manager go to TitaniumBackup folder
- move the 3 whatsapp files taken from the phone and place them in the TB folder
- open TitaniumBackup and "restore" your whatsapp*
*OBS.: First you must restore the app only, so it'll be installed on the system. Then you must restore the DATA. The data is the most important thing, because it'll reconfigure your WhatsApp the same way that it is on the phone. If you restore everything together, it'll not work.

Easier steps(the phone must be rooted):
-install whatsapp on phone.
-go to /data/app and copy the apk with whatsapp icon and transfer it to the tab.
- Install it.

Whatsapp uses a telephone number as userid/login credentials. Unfortunate. You will need to create an account using a phone first for it to work.
Hello, I have an HTC Flyer and what works for me when it comes to installing 'non-tablet' apps like whatsapp I simply search the apk of the application using Google and just run the apk file. Hope this helps

Please instruct me where should I paste those three files. I really don't know
I've already installed TB and Whatsapp

by installing the apk on the tab, will that log me out of whatsapp on my phone? or can I use both simultaneously, ie - use whatsapp while on the bus on my way home from work, then get home and use my tab to continue the conversation?

It will log you out, it tells you that one phone number can be used only in one app. I had to use my work phones number on tablet. If there is another workaround, I would like to know it too.

you should make an backup of WhatsApp on your Android Smartphone. It'll generate 3 files on your phone's sdcard. Get'em and copy to your tablet's sdcard. Then do these steps.
Everything is explained on my first post.
PS.: Some are saying that it'll stop it from working on the other device. Maybe you are right. But when I made this post I could use freely in both device's at the same time. The only issue was that when I was chatting over the tablet, for example, the phone wasn't receiving any messages.

How to run Whatsapp on Android v.4 tablet without rooting any devices

Hardware required:
Windows PC, non-rooted Android v. 4 tablet, USB memory. Smartphone is not even required!
Apps required:
PC: Bluestacks, Oracle Virtual Box+Appliance "androVM_vbox86tp_4.1.1_r6.1-20130222-gapps-houdini-flash.ova",
Android tablet: Whatsapp, Titanium Backup, Helium (Carbon) App Backup+its Windows Desktop app, file management app(recommend Root Explorer), GoContacts EX v2.06
Limitations:
-Whatsapp does not support Android tablet
-Titanium Backup works only on ROOTED device
-Helium App Backup works on NON-ROOTED device but ANDROID v.4, use with Windows PC is mandatory for non-root
HOW:
1.1 Install Bluestacks (built on Smartphone Android v2.xxx, rooted) on PC. Install Whatapp, provide a mobile phone number to receive SMS for the 6 digits verification code; land line number works as well, but instead, to click "Call me" button to receive voice call giving the code.
1.2. Install Titanium Backup. Backup whatsapp. Use Root Explorer, copy the 3 backup files (com.whatsapp-........) in "Titanium" folder, paste them to mnt/sdcard/bstfolder. Then, they will be located on PC, under C:\ProgramData\Bluestacks\UserData\SharedFolder. Copy them to USB.
*Helium works for Android v.4, so cannot substitute Titanium in this step.
2.1 Install Oracle Virtual Box on PC, import appliance "androVM_vbox86tp_4.1.1_r6.1-20130222-gapps-houdini-flash.ova" downloaded from androvm.org/blog/download. Plug above USB to PC, go to Virtual Box settings and enable this USB. Start the appliance, Andriod 4.1.1 will be running. Install Titanium Backup, restore Whatapp from the USB (copy the 3 files and paste them to Titanium Backup folder)
2.2. Install Helium (Carbon) AppBackup, make sure uncheck backup data only, backup app+data of Whatsapp. A folder named "com.whatapps" will be created under "Carbon" folder. com.whatapps should contains 2 files of ab & .json, if missing any, the backup is not complete.
3.1. Install Helium (Carbon) AppBackup on Android tablet. Follow the guide to enable backup app for non-root device. (install its Windows desktop, allow USB debugging, PTP mode, etc). Connect Android tablet to PC. Copy the above folder "com.whatapps" and paste it to "Carbon" folder in the tablet. Restore Whatsapp with Helium, good to go!
3.2. recommend install GoContacts EX v2.06 to manage contacts for Whatsapp
Guarantee this work like a charm!
(methods using appguard, GoContacts EX only,...do not)
Wow. Seems rather a long process. Would this work by just doing a helium backup from a phone and a helium restore in the tablet?
Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
AMoosa,
If the smartphone is running Android v.4 and whatsapp; Helium backup phone, restore in the tablet should work.
The process is long, I agree. But, it make whatsapp run on tablet without technically modifying any device (e.g. rooting). It can also let run whatsapp without SIM (e.g. an extra whatsapp account)
Thanks worked like charm

With rooted phone, worked like a charm. Backup app and data, copy the folder carbon to the VM, then restore by Helium.

First you will need:
- Whatsapp you want to install in tablet.....First have it full running updated in your android mobile.
- Install apk Backup & restore in your mobile and your tablet.
- You must be root in android phone and tablet.
- Install root explorer in android mobile and in tablet.
- Install appguard in tablet.
- Install Go contacts ex in mobile and in tablet.
After all above is done:
Make Backup your app whatsapp from mobile and save in you SDcard tablet.
Make restore with same app in your tablet. (DONT OPEN APP Whatsapp yet).
Open appguard and secure your new app whatsapp installed........It will uninstall and install again. uncheck the option checking your phone status, inside "manage your secured app" (DONT OPEN APP whatsapp yet).
Now go root explorer in android mobile:
Copy the next files any place on your SDcard:
Data/data/com.whatsapp (full folder, with other folders inside).
(remember original permisions )
Data/data/com.android.vending/cache/thmb_com.whatsapp
(remember original permisions rw-------)
Data/dalvik-cache/ [email protected]@[email protected]
(remember original permisions rw-r—r--)
Now go root explorer in tablet SGP311:
Copy the above files on right same place and be sure give all same exactly permisions to all folders….files than original.
Replace any thing it will be asked to overwrite.
After all ready, be double sure all permisions equal than original of android phone.
Make reboot tablet.
Now open whatsapp app you already modified with appguard. (Very important be sure in appguard you unchecked the option checking phone network….) before start whatsapp. “In option manage your secure app installed”.
Now you will run whatsapp……..after running delete whatsapp from your phone android.
Some times it will crash unexpectelly, but mainly is working receiving and sending files, sms….....
Any doubts ask and I will try to solve.
Regards.

[Q][Whatsapp] Whatsapp does not offer backup restore after Cyanogenmod upgrade

Hello.
I migrated from Cyanogenmod 12.1 (Android 5.1.1) to Cyanogenmod 13 (Android 6.0.1) on my Nexus 4. I did a factory reset. Problem is, that Whatsapp does not offer to restore a backup when starting it the first time, although the file structure under /sdcard/Whatsapp is intact and the Whatsapp versions of backup and new installation are identical. I renamed the latest backup file to msgstore.db.crypt8. I don't have a Google backup at hand, only the local ones.
I also tried to copy back the key file to /data/data/com.whatsapp/f, but this was also not successful. Forum search did not bring up a working solution for me.
Addionally: Does anybody know, when the question "Do you want to restore the found backup?" should popup? After the verfication, after the Nickname input, before the Nickname?
I don't have a clue what to try next. In the past it was no problem to restore the Whatsapp chats..
Any suggestion is highly appreciated.
SOLVED
I could restore my Whatsapp messages!
Environment:
- Cyanogenmod 13 (Android 6.0.1)
- Whatsapp 2.12.510
Prerequisits:
1.) Whatsapp Viewer (Links are forbidden for new users, you will find it at Github)
2.) msgstore.db.crypt8 from a backup
3.) key file from /data/data/com.whatsapp/files from a backup
4.) Whatsapp must not have been started before
5.) Phone number / SIM of backup and restore phone must be identical
6.) Wifi connection for verification process
Procedure:
1.) Install Whatsapp, but do not start it
2.) Extract msgstore.db from msgstore.db.crypt8 with the help of Whatsapp Viewer
3.) Copy msgstore.db to /storage/emulated/0/Whatsapp/Databases
4.) Start Whatsapp and hit "Restore" when it's offered
5.) Wait for "Initialisation" to finish. It took about 3 minutes in my case. So be patient.
6.) Enter Name and assign a profile picture, hit next
7.) Finish!

Samsung A51, WhatsApp Couldn't restore messages

Hi guys,
I don't know either this is appropriate place to post this issue here or not.
I just bought a new Samsung A51 and restored all stuff from my previous phone using Smart Switch.
Finally, when i tried to restore WhatsApp messages, it says "Couldn't restore messages ", "Check your phone's internet connection and tap Retry to restore"
I have retried several times while connected with WiFi and Mobile data too but no success. I have also uninstalled WhatsApp and then installed latest version from Play Store but not succeeded.
Can anyone help on this?
Yesterday I switched from Note 9 to A51.
Smartswitch told me it wouldn't be able to transfer my conversations so I did the following with success:
Open WhatsApp on the old device, go to Settings -> Chats and do a local backup.
Zip the whole WhatsApp folder in the root of the internal memory.
Transfer the whole zip file to the new phone, unzip it.
Use SmartSwitch to transfer WhatsApp.
Launch WhatsApp on the new phone. Do not use any recovery options you get presented with before the activation process. After confirming your phone number whatsapp will tell you it found a local backup which it will use.

How long would that take you think? I have my A51 but haven't used it yet and I'm wondering if it is better to wait for a root method
